St Aubyn's Guest House - Burnham-on-Sea - Bedroom

In recognition of its high standards, St Aubyn's Guest House has a prestigious 4 star award. St Aubyn's Guest House is run with loving care by the resident owners. It is a 70 metres from the seafront and within a 5-minute walk of the town centre with its major shops, restaurants, and pubs. All rooms are tastefully decorated and have en-suite bathrooms and flat-screen TVs. The swimming pool is throughout the year.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is minutes away from either the sea front or a small high street with most amenities. High street has some amazing restaurants, well that’s if you have any room left after your fabulous breakfast and afternoon tea with homemade cake
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simon and Mark were the perfect hosts. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is those extra little touches, including home made delicious cake, which is one of the reasons that you can see why this guest house has the rating that it does! The indoor swimming pool was also an added bonus for our daughter who couldn't wait to come back to the guest house from a trip out to have a swim!
Cons: Nothing- all lovely.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: My grandson and l had a fabulous stay at St Aubyn's guest house, Mark and Simon work very hard to make their guests feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is served with a lovely smile. It is all spotlessly clean and in a great location. We enjoyed everything from the delicious breakfasts, to the extra comfy beds, to the great little swimming pool. Plus we were greeted with coffee, cake, fruit shoot and icecream on arrival and a box of Maltesers was left for us in our room during our stay. Thank you Mark and Simon you made our little break very enjoyable.

Pros: Fantastic accommodation. Mark and Simon go the extra mile to make your stay so comfortable you don't want to leave. Accommodation is spotless throughout and rooms are beautifully decorated and well designed. A perfect location too. Would definitely return.

Pros: In many respects this hotel is a dream. The two owners Carol and Julie have really thought about what makes a hotel special and have gone out of their way to offer their guests a stay to remember. The room was spacious and had little extras like shoe polish and what should have been a decanter of sherry to great guests (unfortunately ours only had foul dregs in the bottom). The breakfast was exceptional and everything beautifully cooked and presented, though there were very long waits for some things to arrive - always a problem with breakfasts if there is no buffet and everything requires waitress service, though on balance it’s a lovely way to have a leisurely start to the day. The dinner menu was full of original and enticing dishes - this place has a chef with real talent! Most dishes we had were exceptionally good. Perhaps some things were a bit too ambitious and didn’t quite work but they were all definitely interesting and displayed the handiwork of a very creative kitchen.
Cons: It’s all so perfect but there’s something lacking. One furiously busy young woman seems to be the only person doing everything front of house - she booked us in, showed us to our room, took our dinner orders and served the food and seemed to be doing everything at breakfast. She was perfectly pleasant but obviously rushed off her feet. But for somewhere that offers such delightful comfort where was the warm welcome? Apart from a very brief and somewhat gruff passing encounter with one of the two owners, they were invisible! No greetings, no chef appearing at dinner to speak to the diners and no friendly farewell. So, despite having got virtually everything right for the perfect boutique hotel, what’s missing is a drop of the human touch. But perhaps were we just there on a bad day and saw the exception not the rule. I do hope so as otherwise this place is one to treasure.

Pros: The bedroom was well equipped with all that I needed for my stay. Tina is a very friendly host who runs a great B&B. The breakfast choices are good with fresh eggs from the 6 hens that live in the garden. Tina also keeps bees so the honey is the best. Tina goes the extra mile for her guests, she even volunteered to drive me to and from the pub. Builders are due to start converting the rooms to en-suite very soon which will improve the accommodation still further.
Cons: There was nothing to not like about my stay at Morland.

Towns: Taunton/Langport/Bridgewater/Glastonbury/Wells are nearby. If any military interest: Fleet Air Arm Museum 30' drive. Also easy access to several walking paths nearby in Burrowbridge and areas nearby (AONB) such as Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills, Black Down Hills, Exmoor.. (pls check Ordnance/Ollyoutdoors/LDWA..). 4. Cons: Nothing at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect - a lovely oasis of peace and quiet, in a beautiful cottage garden complete with an enclosure for two friendly ducks (I love ducks!). Naomi is a star, with the perfect skill of making sure that we were comfortable and happy and then leaving us to enjoy the tranquility. After we left she very kindly located and posted our mislaid torch to us. Staying in a shepherd's hut was something we had wanted to do for a long time and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Seeing that we're in our 70's and sometimes a bit wobbly, Naomi considerately put the bedrail on to make sure we didn't accidentally fall from the raised bed. The highlight of the stay was seeing the vast unpolluted star-filled sky. It was phenomenal and is a special memory for us.
Cons: Nothing.

The local pub The London Inn was a 2 minute walk and run by landlady Sarah who again couldn't be more welcoming food was delicious. Pros: Peaceful location. Pretty garden. Spacious room, with ensuite and powershower.
Cons: Having to keep asking for milk for tea making. Teabags etc were not replenished. There were no snacks provided in the room, in other hotels these have been included. Very basic vegetarian breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and cosy B&B but…
Cons: We rented two rooms. Our friends got the smaller one with much lesser space, especially the bathroom. It was hard to wash faces and it is overall very narrow. What we oppose to is that they paid the same price as we did for a better room.

Pros: Perfect Breakfast Location ideal to split our journey south
Cons: The toilet would not flush and we had to get jugs of water to flush it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing 15th century building, with original features including a chapel. It is furnished in keeping with its appearance, without being a caricature of itself. We had a room with lovely views of the garden and the distant Quantock hills; also a four poster bed. Breakfast was at a long table in the Great Hall, with the other guests, and was very good. There is also a cosy lounge.
Cons: I'm only 5' tall, and getting onto the 4 poster bed was a challenge- a footstool would have been useful. It was a very windy night, and we realised how draughty these old buildings are, but we were very cosy in bed. There is of course no lift. The property has more modern accommodation at the back.

Pros: Lovely large and newly refurbished bedroom. Lovely gardens and in a quiet location. Staff were very helpful as we had a young child and so we managed to eat right on the restaurant opening time to help us. Very pleased with our stay, lovely hotel and good value for money. Also the food was excellent.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were welcoming as we arrived, the room was very clean and excellent furnishings and bed. The dining room was very shabby chic which we liked and the food very good.
Cons: There was no lounge, just a very small area where you could have a pre-dinner drink - it would have been nice to relax in a lounge.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Adequate choice of Continental breakfast which I prefer to a cooked breakfast. As a couple of over 80's we rarely have a cooked meal for breakfast but with family living at Combwich we have frequently taken advantage of your afternoon teas on the lawn on a sunny day on birthdays and anniversaries.
Cons: Cannot think of anything, except for the lack of mobile signal in the area but that is not your fault! Appreciated the ability to make a free call, thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An excellent breakfast, very well laid out and displayed. For a breakfast that is included, there were many lovely little touches.
Cons: Only a little thing - the staff seem to be responsible for several areas, so they may be in reception when someone is waiting at the bar. However, they are all really great people.

7.9 Good
Pros: It was a really peaceful place to stay cabins were lovely and clean and had all the facilities you would need especially as I travelled with a 10month old and 10year old.
Cons: The farm shop was very basic and the nearest shop which is Asda is a car journey away so if they could stock more basics in the farm shop on site it would be perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. Very peaceful and quiet. The children loved the fact the sheep came up to the camping pods and liked being stroked. The pod was perfectly sized and the bathroom and cooking facilities were amazing. Would recommend anyone to stay. Only a 12 minute drive to the beach.
Cons: N/A

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so helpful, the facilities where great and the surroundings where so peaceful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely scenery with lots for the whole family to do. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pods were brilliant.
Cons: You had to make your own beds up and when I did I found a half drunk water bottle at the head of the mattress. However, everywhere else was spotless, which must be hard in a pod! No insects or anything. There was also a piece of broken plastic in the bedding but I suspect that this was the felt of the laundry company.

5.8 Okay
Pros: There was a pool
Cons: The bar shut really early, the walls were paper thin and we could hear the neighbours tv and them coughing a lot. They could hear us and banged the wall at us when it wasn’t late and we were just laughing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location for work, nice size room with everything needed for a good night sleep and for the price it was excellent value for money!
Cons: No complaints!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was lovely, a little different with there only being beds, bathroom, TVs, fridge, and kettle facilities. But we only wanted to stay 1 night so it suited us. It being in the countryside meant there was a lot of darkness on the country roads, to get to the accommodation and being 'City people' we found it a bit scary without street lighting, on a road only wide enough for 1 vehicle, all adding to the family fun! The family accommodation meant we were not separated. Friendly helpful, understanding staff, who made us feel welcome.
4.2 Okay
Cons: It was filthy. I wrote my name in the dust. There was dead wood lice that had been there for a while.there was a wood lice crawling up the side of the sheets on the bed. WHILE I WAS IN IT. You could tell how they were decaying. The plug to the fire couldn't reach the sockets. The spare blanket for the bed was filthy someone must have had it outside to sit on there was bits of twigs on it and it had holes in. No hot water. The taps in the sink had a build up of dirt where the water comes out. So we couldn't fill the kettle for a drink. The 3 sachets of milk were off. There was only 3 teabags the curtains on the front door even though it was patterned you could see straight through. So no privacy. The manager was so rude. We booked a double bed on booking.com when we arrived the manager said are you sure you want a double bed I said yes. He said we have single beds I said no we want a double bed. As he was taking us to the room he again said you can change yr mind and have single beds (I was beginning to become angry) I said NO we are very happy with a double bed. Again he said it. Then when we arrived at the room. He said ah look theres a double and a single so one of you can have the double and the other a single. I said we have booked and double and we are very happy with that as we are a gay couple. I don't know why I had to explain my sexuality to him. Overall it was a dirty grimy place he told us we could use the swimming pool but not till the schools had finished using it around 8pm . Again I had paid to use it, so why am I waiting till 8pm. We went out and got back at 8.45pm and everything was closed the swimming pool the bar the reception we then had to go back out to buy milk. When I confronted him the following morning he spoke over the top of me. He admitted discussing a single bed but said he was being polite and didn't know we were gay....(.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Lay out and size of rooms, easy parking
Cons: Bulbs blown in rooms, shower too hot or cold, walls very thin
4.2 Okay
Pros: good size room but dated TV and WiFi good good location
Cons: reception not very helpful no information about the site no access to limited facilities.not worth the price I paid
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Initial issue with heating/hot water was addressed swiftly and the room was warm when I returned back after sightseeing. The staff recommended a nearby place to eat where the food was excellent
Cons: Nice spacious room that was clean and tidy. Each day the bed was made and bins emptied. The tea /coffee facility was also restocked each day too.
