Pros: Great location. Conveniently located across the street from a friendly restaurant and bar. Honest about no a/c. Housekeeping staff is very pleasant. I can see it being a nice place to stay in winter.
Cons: Hotel was empty due to very warm weather. We did not get a balcony room as promised in the Rez. Room was above hotel entrance, which has 24/7 floodlights. Unfortunately, without a/c, you couldn’t draw shades to darken room. Even if you did, curtains are not wide enough to block light.... not sure what purpose they feel the curtains serve. Our room was located just east of a glass solarium, so the hallway was ~ 40c. Any chance of room being cool is shot. There were plenty of other rooms available, as I said, place was empty. Was left with the impression that we weren’t so welcome, so our comfort was not a concern.
Pros: Beautiful village, the hotel is very clean and the staff is very kind, nice and extremely professional!
Pros: I can't say enough good things about Hotel Herold; the hotel is charming and the staff is amazing. My friend and I were there for the annual trek of Lipizzaner colts down from their summer mountain pasture and a visit to the nearby Piber Lipizzaner stud. The owner's son was extremely helpful, suggesting a scenic route to St. Stefan ob Stainz and nearby areas as well as providing directions to a nearby location where the colts are "decorated" with flowers (wonderful experience!!). Food in the restaurant was superb, especially the local mushrooms in cream sauce with pork medallions and potato croquettes (also suggested by the owner's son).
Pros: Nice place in a little town.
Cons: We have had some requests that they haven't met when we arrived.
Pros: Comfortable rooms.
