The location and concert venues It was very rundown and overpriced for what it was. The front desk was very unhelpful
Location and music venue It was really rundown And the Front desk was not very helpful.
We liked the trains, but thought there would be a model train display or more train themed decorations. The walls were very thin and the staff was not friendly.
Staff was friendly and location was nice for access to restaurants and bars Hotel needs updating and maintenance . Single serve shampoo and conditioner were both partially used... glad I paid kayak price, not full price. Comparable to a $60 a night elsewhere.
Location. Easy to get on the bus and get anywhere It was like staying in a motel. The beds were awful....We woke up early just to get out of there. Pimple juice on the mirror from a previous guest...everything seemed to be falling apart...just needs a face lift...Wish I had spent the extra 30 bucks to stay somewhere else but since the wedding we were attending was in the hotel seemed like the best option.
Price was decent and the location was good being I was going to be in downtown the entire trip. Staff was nice and helpful. Standard room had a strange smell to it, like mildew or something. Random, cheap pictures of train related images on the walls. I bought a candy bar from the machine and just the heat from the machine itself made the bar melt and not really worth eating.
Great location in Chattanooga and beautiful gardens and hotel facilities. The buffet breakfast was very poor. The food was slightly cold and tasted stale with very little variety for a "buffet".
Nice location. Nice landscaping Rooms are old and dirty. The shower had hair sitting in the bottom of the drain upon our arrival. The bed was very uncomfortable. The room walls must be made of paper because noise carries very well, and the other guests were loud. My wife and I were barely able to get any sleep as people were running through the halls until 2am. The Choo Choo is interesting, and the location is nice, but I would not stay here again if it was the only hotel in town.
Great location in fun area. Front desk staff was pleasant when we arrived. Patio outside the room. Very run down facilities. Black mold around the air vent, peeling paint in the room. Seemed dingy overall. They didn't tell us about the $7 parking fee until we checked out. Very overpriced for the condition and quality of the hotel. (We paid $121)
The staff was wonderfully friendly and our room was quiet. It's been a while since I have bought magic beans but I was certainly sold some when I made my reservations for this dump. Perhaps I'm just picky but when I pay $200+ for a traincar room and $100+ for a "double" room, I have some expectations. For example, I would like for those two rooms to be in the same zip code. As we drove past one distressed building after the next, we joked that the traincars must be first class and we were in steerage. We arrived at building #3 and were unsure if we had even rated steerage as the structure looked eerily similar to a penal farm. Thankfully, it was nicer inside than out. Nicer but not what you would expect for the price. Notes-"double" means full sized bed, NOT queen; black substance in crevices of bathroom is NOT soot from a train. I heard after we checked out that there are plans to completely re-do this hotel. If so, maybe those magic beans will grow into something special. Until then, just stop by to see the train stuff if you're a big fan and do yourself a favor by staying at another hotel.
The grounds were a sight to see, especially decked out for Christmas -- pretty gardens, ice skating, beautiful main building with its restored foyer -- all near Warehouse Row and right beside the free electric shuttle buses. The non-train-car rooms were outdated, with extremely thin doors and walls, and the hardest beds I've ever slept on - the floor would at least have been supportive while being just as hard. No complementary breakfast; the breakfast buffet, while open, is $10/person plus beverages and tip.
The historic site was really interesting. Loved seeing the old trains and the depot. Dinner in the pizza rail car was fun. Very unique setup! Breakfast buffet closed one hour earlier than published on their website. Normal room prices are too high...wouldn't have stayed without the deal through Kayak. They charge an extra $7 per day for parking, which always bugs me at a hotel...they know you have to park so it really shouldn't be an extra charge in my opinion.
Its a standard mainstream hotel. It was really expensive (150 for one night) and didnt even include parking which was another 8 dollars per day. Didnt realize their was a hostel in town in a better location and much cheaper.
Room was clean and in good shape. Good size tub and shower. Attractive fire pit outside. Door staff was friendly. The garage's lighting was either mostly lacking or not working when we were there. Coffee in the room was poor.
The room was clean Small rooms for the price...... Paying to park...
Very clean. Friendly staff. Being charged for parking.
Great facilities and excellent staff. Indoor pool was key for Spring Break. Was not very close to main attractions in the city and not in a very good part of the neighborhood. Not the best place to walk with young children.
Lobby and rooms were well decorated. The hotel is in close proximity to Warehouse Row and about a mile from the Aquarium and arts district. Kids loved the indoor pool even if it was small. The hotel could have been somewhat cheaper. We didn't eat here because the prices were just as high or more than top restaurants in town. The shower pressure was obnoxiously strong. We stood in a pool of water because it couldn't drain fast enough. Rooms are nice but a bit tight for a whole family.
Attractive Hotel Good Location Very expensive for the small room we had. Very loud facility - room right by elevators and ice machine and constant foot traffic and loud staff members. The entire hotel was filled with a conference and we were placed in amongst them - many of the facilities were used by the conference. After a late night with lots of loud disturbances we were awoken just after 5 am and forced to evacuate the building. After standing outside for a half hour we were given no explanation on why we had to evacuate other than the 6 fire engines that pulled up - then left shortly after. I'm sure it's a fine hotel - but we just didn't have a good experience.
This was a nice hotel, very beautiful on the inside. Great music in the bar room. Valet was super nice. Our shower had very low water pressure and as a female with long hair, this took forever And was very comfortable . also the shower was clogged so we took showers in a filled bath. When they said they would come fix it right away I thought they meant within the hour, but instead it took about 3-4 hours for the person to show up. By this time we had gone out to eat, and have drinks, go back to the room and start getting ready for bed by the time he showed. The hotel said they couldn't do anything for us because we had gone through price line to get our room, which I have never heard that one before. Room rates were overpriced in my opinion, stayed at a cheap motel that has been the same if not better.
Friendly staff, a number of good restaurants nearby, convenient to battlefields
The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. Having the sauna, steam room and pool/hot tub included with the stay made the price of the hotel worth it. Live music and a fireplace in the lobby made the evening relaxing. The cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. The staff at the spa was not up to par. I have a medical condition and called a week in advance to ask about setting up a spa package that would accommodate my needs. None of my three calls were returned. As for the hotel's restaurant, The Broad Street Grille, was overpriced and the wait staff was terrible. We walked out before ordering because we waiteds so long for service.
I don't believe after paying over $200 a night, we should have to also pay $8 a day to park our vehicle. The air conditioning in the room wasn't working very well.
Location Overpriced. Pictures make it look much nicer than it is. Average at best.
Breakfast was wonderful. The place was very nice. Would recommend to anyone. Pool was a little cold. Spend the $1,000 and put the heater in.
The staff was really nice and accommodating. Breakfast was ok. There seemed to be sticky juice stains on the floor and a big red (what looked like juice) stain on a comforter and there was some kind of mystery meet on the floor that looked like it hadn't been vacuumed.
The breakfast area, cookies in the lobby, smiling faces when you come through the door . My key didn't stay activated over night. I stayed 5 nights and had to get it re-booted the first 3 days.
Clean and quiet
I found the Hampton Inn Chattanooga/Hixson clean and well kept, I had very pleasant interactions with the employees. Nice finish to the bathroom, easy access to bedside plug ins to charge all my gadgets. I arrived at a late hour after a delayed flight and I was able to make it into a comfortable bed with minimal hassle. I didn't have an opportunity to put the internet speed to a test and it was too late to enjoy the coffee that was ready in the lobby if I wanted it. I did utilize the nice microwave in the room and I did have an opportunity to enjoy the papaya and pineapple with my breakfast. I wish all my stays went like this one. There was nothing I found to my dislike.
The bedding, the pool area didn't overwhelm with a chlorine smell. Modern interior. The mini fridge in the room was unplugged, not sure how long, so it stunk pretty bad.
the pillows suck
Friendly staff, comfortable furniture "Cotton candy" pillows that disappear when you put your head on them.
nice staff, pool poor breakfast, older rooms that need some work, small bath rooms
Cheep non caring breakfast.
We were driving from Austin to New York and stopped here for the night. It was very clean and comfortable. Staff was great and friendly. The breakfast area didn't have that many options, however, it was better then others I have stayed at that cost more. We will be staying here on our way back!
Great hotel, soft comfortable beds Towels are not big enough for the average person
Great value for the cost. Very clean, and quite. The outdoor access to the rooms allows for smoking on the balcony. I'm not a smoker, and didn't like having to walk through other peoples smoke.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was bare minimum.
Very close to several great restaurants.
The staff and crew were nice. I do not like that the bathrooms didn't have a ventilation duct.
Met my needs, location was good, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was missing some items
The clerk who checked us in wasn't friendly, but other staff was friendly. Room was clean for the most part. Breakfast was okay. I would stay again for the price we paid through Kayak Check in clerk and cheap towels
comfortable, quiet, and clean. Very friendly staff.
The bed was comfy. For the price, I guess it ain't so bad. Ok first of all, we stayed on the second floor and it felt like it was moving like crazy. The bathtub and tile looked dirty and outdated. The breakfast sucked and if u look behind the front desk, the back where the cleaning crew comes in and out is outragesly dirty. It's horrible. The owner should do something about that.
Everything!! First stay here but not the last. Love the restaurant that is there and the room was wonderful. Lots to do nearby and plenty of shopping. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful hotel loved our room. The free breakfast was much better then any hotel I've ever stayed at. Checkout isn't until 12 so you don't have to rush to checkout by 10. The indoor pool wasn't heated. What's the point of an indoor pool if it's too cold to get in and enjoy. No Jacuzzi. A Jacuzzi in a embassy suite should be a must!
Room was very big, very spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable!
Staff was rude and seemed bothered we were checking in and didn't even give us directions to the nearest elevator. Room was OK except for pillows were too soft and not enough towels. When we asked for more, again they seemed bothered. And breakfast was a joke. Cold boiled eggs that had instructions to "warm them up by putting them in a cup of hot water", no forks or Condiments, most juice and milk dispensers were out, and when asked if there were any more forks anywhere, again they seemed bothered.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast buffet was excellent even at 9:30 am. The beds were quite firm.
The decor and carved wood is remarkable!
The hotel was beautiful, extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent friendly staff. room was small
Charming interior and comfortable bed, but not very clean and shows its age.
Location/Pillows/Check-in staff Poor service from valet staff. Constantly locked out of room. Hair on bed/pillows. Dated decor.
I was getting engaged and the staff did absolutely nothing to make it special or give me their time of day to help with improving my moment. Definitely don't expect anything more than a room key from the staff or their attention. I would have expected the staff to be a little more accommodating, but they are definitely not a 4star staff. This hotel has all the potential to be a better hotel, but the staff and no fridge in the room makes it 3 stars.
location downtown was great for our weekend to see and do things around Chattanooga. We saw 2 outdoor concerts in the evening and really enjoy the atmosphere of downtown. No mini refrigerator in the room. Other than that the room, staff and hotel was excellent.
They upgraded our room without us asking. They were very helpful with recommendations for breakfast. The pool and fitness center were clean and a nice amenity for the hotel. I would absolutely return. The bathroom was small but clean. It is to be expected from a historic hotel.
Bathroom could use some detail attention, especially the bathtub. Parking is pricey.
Everything, the hotel was great. Felt like I was in the 1930s.
It's a beautiful historic place. It's difficult to get around the separate towers. The pool area should be promoted more.
Rooms were spacious but the hotel needs to do a furniture update.
Pretty clean for being pet-friendly. The staff was great. Local delivery places that deliver to the door. (we got there late after traveling) Guy at the front desk was very helpful, even had menus for local places. Very pet-friendly(which is why we stay here anyway, most places charge at least 20 bucks for a pet) Just some noise from the hallway when a crowd or a family or any guest walks down the hallway. It kept driving my dog crazy, which drove me crazy, but for the money really no other complaints.
Nothing No pool chairs....dogs everywhere
I like how close its to everything. Les than 10 minutes from Rock city an downtown. The bed an the pillows were really uncomfortable. We were in room 414 an there was a noise like if a dishwasher was on in the other room, we stayed for 3 nights an the noise never stopped.
We had a prepaid reservation. A terrible idea because even though we had paid for double beds the maids had not cleaned the rooms and all that was left at 9pm was a king sized bed with a pull out couch that was more uncomfortable that my grandmas from the 70's. My children and I slept on the bed and my poor husband took the couch. X at the front desk didn't seem to care, Holiday Inn customer service said that they don't guarantee rooms, and the room was directly across from the only elevator which had the loudest ding in the world. I finally got a call from the manager to request my money back but since it was prepaid, it was a huge problem. I'm done with booking on line and Holiday Inn.
loved our room. the staff was very personable. the breakfast bar was fabulous. our great stay made us book another one up the road hoping for it to be just like this one! One drawback was not being able to see it from the road. we missed it several times!
I got to the hotel extremely late the night of check-in, but the staff were very nice and accommodating. The room was clean and well-decorated. Despite being 'away from it all', the decor was more modern than many other Holiday Inns. This hotel is close to the aquarium. Even being stuck in traffic (which was weird), it took me 23 minutes to get to the aquarium from this hotel. Great location. The usual, warm, lovely breakfast as always. If you aren't a priority club member, you should be. I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area.
2 people for La. met up with 2 people from Ky. for a weekend getaway over the 4th of July. This was a GREAT location - TERRIFIC staff - CLEAN ROOMS! Several people on the staff assisted us with places to go eat, things to see and do. Shared coupons with us. Even though we checked in late - they were very helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we get the chance!! Everyone was very nice and we felt very safe here. Clean Rooms-+++that it was nonsmoking-had no issue with smells. Husbands enjoyed the pool.
We had a fantastic stay. The rooms were so clean (and I travel with my Clorox wipes), the decor was very modern, and the breakfast was fresh, readily stocked and a great variety. The pool was clean, warm and a big hit with my kids. The area is safe and centrally located to downtown, and Hamilton Place shopping. There are plenty of restaurants, drugstores, groceries and a wine and spirits store very close by. The staff was very friendly and efficient. They gave us directions, attraction suggestions and spoke to my children, and us directly whenever they saw us. The digital thermostat was very handy; the fridge took awhile to cool off so turn it down as soon as you get there if you plan to use it. Decent size microwave and coffee maker. No shortage of towels or toiletries. We will stay there again, much safe than other areas we saw online and then saw in person.
We enjoyed the indoor swimming pool & hot tub. The pool was very warm! This hotel was clean and had a descent breakfast. The hotel staff was very friendly.
The staff was nice and helpful. The room was great. We had a wonderful time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful. The room and all areas were very clean. The breakfast/lobby was great. The workout room will meet any travelers needs. The hot tub/pool is nice. [Pool water temp was the same as the hot tub--very warm--so this is a plus/minus.] Our kids loved the stay. The room decor is modern and nice. The bed was the BEST hotel bed I've experienced. You won't be far from any type of food and not far from all attractions. If you are a shooter, there is an indoor range just next door. If you need a bottle of wine, that is also next door. The area of town at first appeared sketchy, but Chattanooga is very nice. It improved in the daylight. We average 2 stays on the road per year. We give this our highest recommendation. The room was nicer than several condos in Florida over the years. The price tag was around * (with taxes). Not an altogether bad thing in that the stay was pleasant and the clientele was business class. From the map, note that the facility is off of 153 (not 75). Also note that Chattanooga is EST (the pool closed an hour earlier than we thought.) Be sure and see the Aquarium--well worth the trip and I'm not a Zoo person.
We just got back from staying at this hotel. This was a great place for my family. The pool was nice, as was the hot tub. The rooms were cleaned everyday be room service, and the breakfast was great for the kids. I will definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay out of the city- it is about a 10-15 minute drive downtown. The hotel was great, especially the breakfast. The pillows, however, are horrible. Bring your own and your stay will be great!
There were some nice amenities in our room, chiefly involving the choice of tempered glass for the bathroom vanity and microwave/fridge area in the main room. The large vanity was espresso colored wood with the thick tempered glass top and a high end tap that came from the wall, making for a nice bathroom overall. The much vaunted Holiday Inn showerhead was a disappointment though, with insufficient water flow to rinse out shampoo as quickly as at home. Additionally, the mechanism to switch water flow from the tap to the shower is tricky, and involves pulling a part of the faucet (a ring that looks just like the normal faucet aerator) down. The fridge and microwave were decent and clean, as were the bath and bed linens (nice thick towels, and there were enough for the three of us, based on our reservation info w/o asking). One sour note was the use of ''twist'' compact fluorescent bulbs in the bath in an application where the bulb is visible. They make a different sort of CFL for visible applications for a reason - the twists are ugly. The carpet also needed to be steam cleaned. There were some visible stains. The WiFi connection was so spotty it was almost useless. We had to go ask for a CAT5 cable to hook up directly - and even then the connection dropped quite a bit. Lastly, give the breakfast bar coffee a miss. Unless you like your coffee weak it will just disappoint. For the prices in the area, and the amenities offered, I would recommend the hotel overall.
Stayed at this hotel the last 2 nights as a part of a family gathering while one member of the family was attending to some business. At the time of making the reservations, we reserved 3 rooms for ourselves and 2 other couples and held the reservations with my credit card. Upon checking in at different times, each couple stated they would be paying with their own credit card and we were told this would not be a problem. Our credit cards were scanned for each room. Upon leaving this morning, we were told the individual credit cards could not be used and all three rooms would have to be placed on my credit card! We were told by a heavy set man, wearing glasses in his 20's or 30's that he was told by the management he 'could not touch the account to make the corrections and I was told this by my manager.' We were told the credit cards that were scanned on our arrival was for 'incidentals.' This man told us he 'was the manager on duty this morning,' but he couldn't touch our accounts to make the necessary changes?! Was he the manager Or Not? Our family member wanted to place his room charges on his business credit card as he expected to do while doing a business trip/family gathering. He was unable to do this! Other hotels are able to accomplish this simple feat, but apparently NOT this one. We would like to thank the young black haired man for his work in the breakfast area. The area was kept spotless. Maybe he should be the manager at the desk instead of the one that was on duty this morning. Also only one couple received a printed receipt, myself and the other couple Did Not Receive a Receipt for the room charges which will be billed to My Account!! :( This was inconsiderate especially since one couple of the 3 couples spent 3 nights vs 2 nights that the rest of us did. I will think again before making any reservations at the Holiday Inn Express or recommending it to others if management cannot work with the customer to properly bill for their rooms. We were in room...
Very clean facility in a great location. The staff were at tentative. There was a great breakfast. Nice safe location close to restaurants and shops No hesitation recommending this hotel.
The rooms were clean & beds super comfortable. The complementary hot breakfast was very good. My kids loved the pool. Most of the staff was friendly.
Staff and cleanliness were above average! The fact I could hear everything happening in the hallway including to kids playing some game at 7:30 am on a Sunday and one guest continually knocking on another guests door while saying housekeeping at least 20 times in two morning.
Location to downtown was great Staff complained to each other in front of guests, room was small and even though it was a corner room, it only had 1 window. Only 2 elevators for 15 floors and its shared by the staff (no freight elevators) so wait times were bad. Check-in time was 3pm but room was not ready until 3:45pm. Overall it was "ok" but not what I expect from a DoubleTree.
Just about everything The bar and pool close way to early.

The staff was as helpful as possible The listing said it was a double room, I paid a higher rate for this room and when I arrived it was not a double room. The staff tried to help as much as possible by providing an upgraded room but I need a double room due to having a baby in a pop up crib
Downtown next to all the restaurants and museums. Everything is walking or biking distance and you can rent bikes pretty cheap to ride everywhere.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms.
Staff was over-the-top accommodating and made sure they took care of every need. One of the machines was unexpectedly not working in the gym and so they called and arranged for me to work out in the double-tree across the street for free.
Great location and close to everything downtown. Complimentary breakfast was really good. Pool was kind of small and the water was really cold, and the toilet in our room wasn't working correctly - filled up VERY slowly.
Great room. Great location. Very nice stay. Odd smell in the elevators. Not a great aroma, but still a great hotel.
Clean,comfortable, close,to everything.
Location Size, incidental charges to card without reason, ill prepared for a busy weekend, parking
Very comfortable stay. Big, well lit desk for working. Comfortable clean rooms Nothing
Location in downtown--close to TN Aquarium and lots of great places to eat. Clean, comfortable room, very nice complimentary breakfast buffet. Parking deck--no easy way to get to the lower level.
The location was great. There's a movie theater and many restaurants within walking distance and the Tennessee Aquarium was only a few blocks away. Our room was on the top floor (the 6th) and there wasn't much water pressure. Other than that, the room was great.
The location was absolutely excellent. Lots of restaurants in that location and close to my relatives that I was seeing.
12 minutes from the boat ramp, great breakfast and clean rooms! Not alot of parking options for people with a boat.

Location near shopping and restaurants. We were on the second floor and there was no elevator.
Pool and breakfast
It was expensive. The room needed maintenance and painting. Almost everything was scratched, or dirty. Shower curtain was too short causing the bathroom floor to flood every time one showered. Breakfast bar was lacking.
The rooms were modern and updated and the staff was nice and helpful. There was a mysterious wet spot on the floor in our room, continental breakfast area was too small and limited food selection, (biscuits were cold), walls paper thin.
Location price and accessibility
Clean, modern rooms with plenty of space and generous sized bathroom. Bed was comfortable and had a variety of pillows from firm to soft. Not enough parking had to park in the hotel next door's parking lot. Could use more tables and seating for breakfast. Utensils left a bit to be desired.
Hotel was very clean and the staff were professional. We also enjoyed the free breakfast buffet. We had a room next to the elevator and did not have any proble with noise from it. There were many families there during our stay and only had minimal hallway noise and only during the day never at night. The only drawback is that there is no fan in the bathroom so the air doesn't circulate and it stays humid after using the shower.
Overall the hotel was nice. My only issue, of which is minor, was that they charge you to park on hotel property. Thought that was just a nickel and dime fee. Besides that, no complaints. Great hotel.
In making a reservation, you expect not to have to wait to get the room you reserved. I had to wait over an hour and a half past check-in time for the room to be cleaned.
Room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was good. Close to downtown so we were able to walk to most locations for dinner and drinks which was very nice. Close to aquarium, ballpark. Had to tell the maid to service the room. Elevator made weird noises so we took the stairs.
The staff was very helpful. Room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent.
Great location if you have a scheduled event at the convention center. Good amenities. Bed was uncomfortable. Man at check in was working on computer and told me to what a minute. After several minutes (5-7), when a supervisor came out of the back and asked if I needed help, he then stopped what he was doing to help me.
