The stay was good until 9am, no water, therefore could not shower. After breakfast there was no toilet facilities, that was horrendous because all toilets were blocked by then. The hygeine was nil. I would expect some compensation for this depolrable inconvenience.
Excellent service and facilities None
friendly helpful staff. had deluxe room which exceeded expectations. buffet breakfast could've been better; not very hot, rubbery eggs, hard croissants and had to ask for more hot water for teapot as only enough for 1 and a half cups between us.
My friends and I stayed at Hilton Maidstone as it is half way between our homes. It suited our needs perfectly and was very comfortable. It was close enough to town to leave our cars there and get a cab into town. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The standard of service was of the highest level. Made to feel a valued guest.
I enjoy your swimming pool very much - one of the best around. I phoned reception many times on the Friday evening to request a taxi but your colleagues did not answer and so I was late for my appointment. The following morning I again phoned reception and again they did not answer.
Nice Room! Nothing at all. Great hotel.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, unfortunately, they cannot cope when the hotel is full, so unless you go early, you will have to queue. The reception staff, are poor, our rooms were not available until 4.30, and sadly that was after a lot of complaining.
The staff were very friendly and helpful when asked for assistance. Restaurant food was high quality with a good selection.
Great quality alround None at all
staff very good Hotel being revamped but is very jaded
There isn't anything I can really say... Din't have WI-FI in the room.
The grounds were nice. The food and drinks were way overpriced, and on the first day the bar had run out of Rose and Vodka!
The room was of an excellent standard and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Excellent tv / internet An improvement would be air conditioning
Whilst typical of so many modern hotels, this one has some helpful and friendly staff and it is in a convenient and pleasant location. The hotel only offers double rooms suitable for disabled guests - I would have preferred a twin room.
Rooms nice but a little on the small side for the money. Room clean. Breakfast good. Very hot heating! Shower curtain had been doubled up and was going mouldy / smelly inside it.
,nice leisure facilities, lovely setting and grounds distance from lift to room ,
Friendliness of staff Poor quality of the function food especially the main course
It is located right next to Leeds Castle, which is why we stayed there. It's a bit out of date and unloved. It could be better with some upgrading and cleaning up. 4 Stars? Only on paper!
The room was quite small but adequate with the beds very comfortable and all fittings ,bathroom etc. up to normal Marriot standards.Restaurant food and service was very good.
We did not find this the usual standard of Marriott Hotels. Restaurant for dinner is not recommended.
I was very impressed with the help I received as I am blind and found staff extrememly helpfull I found that my room card had not been programed properly and I accidentally was able to open somebody elses room as well as mine
we stayed there to attend a family wedding, - immaculate room only thing was going into breakfast at 9.30 we felt the staff were not too interested and rushing to get the room ready for lunch
The friendly staff, cleanliness of rooms and the variety of foods.
the whole stay was really fanstatic and relaxing, the staff was all very nice only one prob booked breakfast through this site and it wasnt forwarded to the hotel but as soon as i showed my copy of booking they allowed it, but it was this site that hadnt told them
Stayed overnight as we had a Party near by to attend The air con was broken in one of our rooms on the hotest day and we were given a fan
Well set out - rooms are comfortable - easy parking Internet didnt work - aircon unit in room was broken - check out took an age (one staff member only on reception)
Evening meal was nice but very expensive! The hotel booking was a joke, room was not what we booked, moved rooms, they couldnt find our luggage, spa pool was not working, breakfast choice was very limited, they took our breakfast plates from under our noses at exactly 11am when breakfast finished, we had to ask for our plates back. When we checked out they added items to our bill that we had not had from the minibar, even after I told them exactly what we had. The long weekend was like a prison sentence
The whole experiance was very good The only bad ponit was that 2 or 3 things on the late menu where not avalible
The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food the hot breakfast came before we had finished our cereal
Food was excellent & reasonably priced & rooms were clean, tidy & homely Thought the mattress in my room was quite hard & unforgiving but apart from that enjoyed the stay
Friendly and very helpful people. food good at a fair rate.
excellent accomodation, food superb, excellent sevice
Good rural setting. Generous car parking
The restaurant was excellent! Will visit again.
The personal interest shown to us- great great - we've stayed before and, will book again (directly) and, recommned it to our friends. For me only one thing, no smoking enclosure. So, brrrr cold for a girl from South Africa!
comfortable and quite.
We both loved the fact it was secluded and as we got to the room the rooms themselves we can only descibe as being like attached Bungalows and as we went in the design of the room was spot on all the facilities you need but at the same time nice and spacious. The staff in the restuarant and the Hotel reception were very friendly welcoming and attentive. All in all the night from start to finish was superb. Nothing at all staff and the Inn alike were faultless
We were warmly greeted and directed to our room, which was down an extremely steep slope. The room was clean, comfortable and modern although, very dimly lit.The sheets were a dull cream in colour, which tended to make them look grubby white. The bathroom was modern and generally clean apart from under the rim of the toilet. a nice touch was a cafetiere with ground coffee amongst the usual hot drink facilities. The restaurant was definitely gourmet with a wide selection of starters, mains & desserts accompanied by a good choice of wines. We enjoyed two fantastic evening meals. Breakfast was delicious:fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts, toast and a full English. Staff were most accommodating & very friendly. The slope down to the rooms was hazardous. a ground frost made it quite icy in parts.WINTER Would be lethal! On the first two nights the food was outstanding although on our last night my steak was cold. I sent it back with minimal fuss. However, by the time it was returned to me, my partner had finished her meal. The steak was hot, but could no longer be described as "medium" and the accompanying asparagus & dauphinoise potatoes were dried out and I left most ot this meal. I am easily embarrassed & did not want to make a fuss, but did question why it was still on the bill. I was given £6.50 reduction, but still charged £13.50 for the main meal I did not eat- this spoilt our last night & I felt that I had been overcharged.
gym and pool excellent restaurant service, no pay movies
Staff, location, ease of use, quick check-in &out. Shampoo/body wash in shower. Bit basic for a 4* hotel , bathroom floor could have been cleaner.
hotel was well looked after, rooms and beds very comfortable. Excellent facilities. Will stay in the hotel again. Excellent value for money.
It's conveniently placed with plenty of parking and easy access. The restaurant is pleasant enough. The cost of food, 10.95 for a burger and 3.40 for chips is a bit excessive.
Food in the restaurant was excellent
the evening meal was excellant value for money and restaurant staff very nice reception staff a bit offhand
Starbucks Not overly impressed, have stayed in better hotels for the price, Towels could do with being replaced
Room was clean and comfortable, staff were polite and helpful, bar meal selection was more than ample and well presented, all in all a pleasant stay
The restaurant and leisure facilities
a very pleasant stay- made a working weekend much more enjoyable.we made use of the pool -wonderful. would have liked pool to be open earlier on saturday!
Very good value for money could be difficult to find, due to its location
It was more like an educational establishment than a hotel. In the bar, men were sitting around at tables with drinks, and working with lap top comuters. One bloke was on his mobile phone all through breakfast.
The room was very nice. The food was not great, only 3 main meals on the menu.
everything was fine /clean and tidy
quiet late breakfast
Very fresh and nice room. Very hard to find the hotel (in the middle of a University area) Feeling of beeing in the middle of a conference during breakfast. Breakfast was ok but not perfect.
The room was very comfortable with a contemporary feel. Oakwood House does not have the atmosphere of a 'Hotel'. It is essentially a conference centre with very good accomodation.
Lovely looking hotel from the outside and in a peaceful location. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was tasty. Staff seemed mostly miserable and only begrudgingly helpful, except for one member of the housekeeping team, who was exceptionally friendly, helpful and polite. For example, there was no explanation at check-in of the breakfast arrangements, and upon calling to find out and making my way to the sparsely populated dining area, not one member of staff approached me to offer me a table, drink or mention that it was a buffet service. Great customer service, guys. The bedroom was lovely at first sight, if cheaply equipped, but the double bed was a couple of bolted together singles and consequently had an uncomfortable solid ridge down the middle, the frankenstein-esque beds also creaked like they were going to fall apart at any second which really limited the athleticism of our sexual escapades. The walls were paper thin, which meant that our German neighbours (we could hear them talking) in the adjoining room probably got very little sleep between the creaking of our siamese-twin beds and the fact that my girlfriend snores like a dying walrus. Oh, and the room was also loving placed right underneath a spotlight which was mostly unpleasant, except for the fact it made me feel like I had finally made my West End debut... All night. Seriously, if you want to stay somewhere in the £70-£90 bracket go to a nice B&B or a Travelodge, rather than risk disappointment in Oakwood House.
the price was very god for the room the room was cold they said there was problems with the heating but no heat at night when working in the room
Clean, modern and comfortable room - great shower. Not really a conventional hotel - a conference centre. Dining room lacking in ambience.
The young girl and the kitchen staff were very helpfull and are to be commended.
The food was superb, the views wonderful and the hotel itself interesting. Thought food was overpriced and disappointed to find no brandy stocked in the bar.
The quality of the room service food in the evening.
The little extras eg. The weather forecast left when the bed was turned back. the newspaper left in a bag that said good morning. The age related parts of the building eg. the staircase Not easy to get around for disabled
The staff were obviously used to fussy people they were so atentive and polite. the whole location and setting the stly and decore wse fabulous and the food both cream tea bar menu and breakfast was fab to. not to pretenious just fab.
Friendly staff, excellent food
Very nice setting Could do with a few more signs from the main road and at junctions after Lenham
The location and the grounds. The room was extremely warm (no heating on) and looked to be a single, instead of a double room.
The setting was beautiful
made to feel very welcome everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. very relaxing.
Nice, spacious, relatively luxurious bed and breakfast Very nice restaurant Nice location, in the middle of rural Kent though still 20-25 minutes from Maidstone Not really geared for business travellers. Breakfast is after 0930! You are offered continental breakfast in your room if you have to leave before 0930. Not easy to find, especially late at night, when my mobile sat nav stopped working as there was no reception and there was no single soul awake to ask for instructions. I suggested to the owner to alert future customers at time of confirmation of booking, with emphatic fonts e.g. capitals or bold that this may be the case, so to make alternative preparations e.g. print the map or download off line map. Do not take me wrong, overall it is a nice B&B with some very fancy rooms. Very nice for a romantic weekend/getaway!
Nothing Tv stopped working, told us that an engineer would arrive on Monday, little point as we left on Sunday. No exchange arranged. Long narrow hole in Bathroom floor by bath. Very dated.
Comfortable, clean, spacious room, decent breakfast...excellent value for money.
The restaurant was beautiful and the food excellent The staff in the restaurant did not understand our order and confused yhe meal twice!
The room was very small and basic, and in need of refurbishment
Clean and comfortable room. Adequate amount of clean towels every day. Approachable and friendly staff. There wasn't anything I didn't like.
convenient access, good car parking hunt for reception staff for 08h00 checkout on Sunday morning
Convenient location for travel to business meeting next day
the room and reception the evening meal
Nice hotel in general Bathroom very poor, flooring had chips and dirty, requires decorating!! Bed only a double and very hard
The room is very good for a price and the staff is very kind. Hotel parking lot is very huge so it is alway possilbe to park the car any time of year. The hotel restaurant is very bad. One night I ordered my food in restaurant on ground floor, the bar people made our food because there isn't chef.
Good clean hotel with excellent food Room temperature a bit too hot!
Pretty building in a pretty small town Walls in the room very thin. Can hear neightbour all the night. Mattress in a very bad condition, can feel the springs.
Nice freshly cooked breakfast. The bath had hair in it from last guest and bed/pillows were not the most comfortable I have encountered.
nice friendly hotel ideal for our short break needs a bit disappointed we could not eat after 7.00 pm on the Sunday
Very relaxing and informal surroundings with attentive and professional staff on service when you most need it. Great food and plenty of it. Although not a complaint it would be nice to have a separate quiet lounge to relax in rather than going to your room
Good cleanliness. The toilet was difficult to flush and the shower had very little water coming through, which was hardly adequate to have a shower.
Staff friendly, room clean and comfortable, food good and price good. Not really.
Friendliness of staff The bathroom was not clean and in urgent need of refurbishment
Well appointed rooms, nice atmosphere
The location. The room was clean comfortable and the staff were polite and helpful The room was a tad warm, but we switched off the radiator and opened a window
Clean, spacious room, friendly reception No soap in bath dispenser. Bed too soft and felt that as it was such a spacious room that a king size bed would have been more comfortable. Just observations
Over all good. Did not appreciate the connecting door I think, which curtails privacy both ways.
Excellent facilities None
close to the venue of my wedding the next day (Leeds Castle) I booked the hotel for my family and myself as my wedding was the next day, unfortunately we were unable to sleep because of loud banging due to something which had broken (boiler I think) the night before, both family rooms had to move to a smaller room the next day so they were not disturbed again. However everyone was so tired at the wedding because of the night before which obviously was not statisfactory
Hotel directions unclear. Not easy to find
Easy access as just off the M20.Room was very clean and quite comfortable, with little noise noticeable although very close to the services. The staff were also very polite and helpful. As the dining area was in a seperate building there might have been a problem if raining although this is a minor observation.
Clean spacious comfortable we were allowed into the room early and were able to change for the wedding. Receptionist extremely helpful. We were overe the front doors and the opening and closing started about 3am and was quite noisy.
Was quite quiet. The attached restaurant was not very nice, the range of food is very limited.
The weather was very cold but the room was very warm, the booking system was efficient, the staff at reception were pleasant. A notice in the car park that hotel guests did not have to pay a parking fee would have been helpful.
Proximity to the Channel Tunnel Terminal Traffic noise.
Staff were great. Friendly astmosphere. Breakfast was also good with a choice of full english or continental (weekend menu). Rooms were unique and spacious. It was good to find a full sized kettle for use in the room which would be great for families. During my stay the windows were not clean on the outside but obvious this did not affect the quality of my stay but just the quality of my view.
Food Main car park full because of wedding party so had to use overflow car park down road. Room smelled of drains. Bed could have been more comfortable. Because of wedding party dining room very noisy at breakfast, also not asked if we wanted more coffee/tea/toast. We did not see our waitress after serving breakfast.
the rooms were very comfortable and the staff excellent, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel, breakfast was great.
The homely atmosphere, the welcoming staff. The photo on the internet does not do it justice. The hotel was almost empty, despite the Leeds Castle Fireworks night. Again I would say a better photo on the internet and detail the fact that hotel its right on top of Leeds castle might draw more bookings in my view.
Beds comfortable. Food good. Disabled bathroom not very suitable for non disabled guests - basin far too small, no shelf on which to put sponge bags etc.
Clean & comfortable. Good food. It is the only pub & hotel in the village so everyone goes there. The village is just one street. You had to be in the restaurant by 8pm to get served even though the room info states 9pm. They actually turned people way at 7.45pm and it wasn't busy. they seemed short staffed.
The food was very nice and the staff were friendly. The room was nice and clean. We had room number 7 and mattress had seen better days to the point where i didn't have a good nights sleep at all and is sqeaky very loud every time i moved i woke my self up and my boyfriend, it was very dissapointing. When i inspected the mattress is was soo squished and old it i felt a bit ripped off for having to pay to sleep in it i would of been better off on the floor on a blow up one.
Standard of room very high, reasonably priced food, good choice Quality of food did not match accommodation
The room was very clean. It was also an excellent price for the room. Once the music ended downstairs, it was very quiet; we enjoyed a good night's sleep. The room was very small; there was not even room for a chair. Moreover, the noise from the pub downstairs carried up into the accommodations area until about 11:30, although since it was Friday night, we probably should have expected that. Also, no one showed us to the room, and there were several mechanical and electrical aspects that we had to figure out on our own.
The comfort and cleanliness of the room was second to none. Unlike some hotels I have stayed in every piece of furniture was in very good condition and matching..Very friendly and obliging staff. To have a Happy 2 hours in the bar was an added bonus.
Such a helpful and friendly staff. Our rooms were perfect for our needs. We loved our time at the Roebuck!
as a party of seven we did not have to worry about sitting together for breakfast or dinner as the table was already for us.
The staff were very attentive. Received a welcoming cup of tea when we arrived and a lovely breakfast.
the quiet & peace of the place all good
Nice building in a very quiet Backwater. Comfortable room with good Facilities (Freeview tv). Some great Roads round and about. You are litrelly in the middle of nowhere! In Detling there is one Pub and nothing else. You have a long drive to find a Takeaway or Off Licence. Make sure your Tank is full!
We were welcomed and offered a cup of tea on our arrival The fact that ( to save the landlady's legs running backwards and forwards to use the card machine ) our debit card was taken from us out of view and the payment transaction undertaken without our supervision.
Good Breakfast, location good Shower difficult to understand, cobwebs in the rafters
The veiws were fantastic a very relaxing weekend a well family run hotel .
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, and the gardens around the B&B made for a very relaxing afternoon. Also, the cooked breakfast was fantastic.
picturesque, quiet would like to stay again for a bit longer. 50 yds from the Kent County Showground brilliant if your visiting it.Very pleasant stay Thanyou.
Excellent roast chicken dinner cooked and served by Emma, delicious!
Staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Because I can't balance on one leg I would have liked something to hold onto on the wall when I shower, It didn't feel safe. Also, because the rooms are quiet warm I feel the duvets are too thick, but I realize everyones needs and requirements are different.
Staff very good, room and bathroom very clean and comfortable. No bad points
the location by the river. Otherwise, the normal Premier Inn brand.
Room was comfortable and warm without being overstuffy Carpark was icebound
It was convenient for our needs and the fact that there was somewhere to eat nearby made it more so
yes only 2 tea bags and 2 milks in the room when asked for a few more it was declined.
Lonely location. Staff very helpful and friendly.
The location was lovely alongside the river. The dining area though vast was very efficient and service fine. Staff very helpful in both reception adn restaurant. ONly one night stay so no more to add. The bed was too soft!! Rolled into the middle but not a major problem - just noticeable following 2 excellent nights in the Premier Eastbourne wheer the bed was excellent!!
It was convenient Bed too soft, Couldnt change the temperature of the room.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere Decor and facilities a little out-dated and in need of refurbishment
We were made very welcome and comfortable.full english breakfast very good, could have had any choice of food. Did not use main menu but it looked good.hotel in a very nice location.price very competative.hotel appears to be under new management and being brought up to date. A very nice weekend! Hotel needs a bit of T.L.C. but I think the management are in the process of doing this.
The room was of a generous size and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative comment I would have is that the bathroom was very dated.
Very friendly staff. Breakfast Beautiful old character building . No atmosphere probably due to takeover and lack of other guests . Grounds untidy . Unhappy with lack of privacy - pathway under our window .
Excellent and friendly service. Everyone there couldn't do enough for us. Food in the restaurant was also exceptional.
very attentive staff - especially at breakfast when we asked for something that was not the standard breakfast fayre. Staff also stayed up late to welcome us when we checked in past mid-night, took our bags to our room and were generally most helpful. we had requested a late checkout....but were still disturbed in our room an hour before agreed checkout time, though they were very apologetic about this.
Unique hotel, good room rate, clean and well maintained, interesting. Wholesome Evening Meal. Good breakfast. Free WiFi in public areas. No mobile phone signal (Orange). The hotel bar was closed Mondays, we came down after putting our bags in the room to find the bar closed, though the owner opened up for Dinner at the time we'd agreed. Shame, he could have had a few hours of trade but we went elsewhere for a bit. TV signal variable at best, non existent at worst. Free Wifi did not work in the room which would have been useful in the absence of a TV signal. No mobile phone signal (Orange).
Very hospitable owners.
Peaceful area. Large room. Reception not covered. Lighting in the room was not fully operational. Large cobwebs and spiders in the wardrobes. Extractor fan in the internal bathroom not working. Broken toilet seat. No light in shaving mirror. On return on the first full day room not made up. We were moved to another room which some of the facilities not in working order which obliged the hotel to clean our original room for us to move back into. After we moved back we found that the bath and wash basin had not been cleaned. On our return from a day out on our final day's stay we found that damp and dirty towels were left folded on the beds.
The owner and staff are very friendly and will make an extra effort for you. The room quite old, do not expect to be spoiled...
peace and quiet and very friendly staff, breakfast very good no
Convenient out of town location, friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness of room Very old television and very poor television reception, noisy extractor fan in bathroom
Being met with a very friendly receptionist with a lovely smile and happy disposition. The room was comfortable, the beds were comfortable and above all else it was lovely and quiet. The restaurant staff were equally as friendly, and the food was well cooked and thoroughly enjoyable and good value for the price.
Very good price and the location suited us perfectly for a local stay for a friend's party.
Excellent stay and lived up to their advertisements. would definitely stay again. The room was clean and fresh and the all you can eat breakfast was fantastic. The staff were friendly and very helpful Nothing at all it was agreat place to stay
Comfortable beds, warm, clean bathroom and price under 40 pounds. Television very poor, picture disappeared after a few minutes. Wanted to stay a second night but when requesting the room, was told price was 62 pounds - far too expensive for pensioners and in a so-called budget-priced establishment. So we went elsewhere in Kent
Nice friendly welcome, lovely clean room, very big comfortable bed. Pub attached excellent food, good value. Bathroom good size but was a bit tired and need a bit of maintenance.
Check in guy could not get it support when we checked in at 9.30 pm - the price we paid was different to that on his computer and he did not know how to deal with this. He was frazzled by the computer but very polite to me about it. Also I had to answer all the questions which I had answered online in my original booking again - that was slightly annoying - would have been worse if I had been any more tired.
Excellent cleanliness of room good check in excellent staff Tv is a night mare to work whrn trying to get sky very anoying Bathroom needs a refurb Attached rest in bad repair
Good location when I noticed overcharge this was refunded promptly and apology given overcharge which I notice when we left Young girl on check in appeared to have very little knowledge of the system and had to ring the manager when there was a problem with the reservation. Although I had a copy of the booking form stating breakfast was included, she still asked if I wanted to pay for breakfast. The "system" froze and she said she contact me if any further information was needed. I had no contact. The following morning I asked for my receipt which was ready at the front desk and notice I had been charged twice for breakfast I.E. 2 people staying and 4 breakfasts.
Cleanliness of shower could be improved
Food was good and owner friendly Very tired, in need of updating. Poor Wi Fi connection in rooms
Breakfast was amazing! Plus the location was perfect for our needs. The decoration of the hotel rooms looked a little tired - could do with freshening up
friendliness of staff, clean rooms decor
The hotel was homely and the owner was very welcoming full English.breakfast was good. The carpark was hidden away and i parked in a multi storey to then be advised of where the carpark used by the hotel was.
Room not fully cleaned from previous occupant. Rubbish not cleareded. Unwashed crockery from previous occupant. Location and staff.
i felt at ease no
This hotel is in a charming building in the heart of Maidstone. It is a short walk to the river where there are some nice trails to stroll along. The English breakfast was very good. I was apprehensive about the parking situation however this turned out to be a pleasant surprise as the secure lot next door had ample spaces, is patrolled by security and is very cheap, considering we were in the heart of a shopping area on a busy weekend. The hotel is also next door to a large shopping complex which has a great variety of shops. Our room was very neat and quiet. I was completely satisfied. No complaints at all.
location was good for function we were attending nearby on Saturday night having to pay on arrival - asked for Sunday newspaper but didn't receive one.
Accessability to M20 motorway and local amenities.
