Pros: Fantastic from start to finish. Steve & Faith are great hosts and the property is incredible value, there are properties claiming the same standard and service in the Lakes charging double what 1692 charge and not a patch on this. They have not scrimped on any details and thought of everything even a complimentary home made cake in an afternoon. We also had a packed lunch which again was faultless. We will be back.

Cons: Squeaky floorboards
6.8 Good
Pros: The character of the property and the area.
Cons: We have stayed at this property before but years ago The bedrooms were tired looking with frayed carpet, window blind and curtains with stains on them. No blinds in the bathroom with a window with clear glass. The carpeted area in the communal space eg stairs and landing were stained. The bed was comfy and all bed linen was crisp and clean. The breakfast was lovely, but very disappointed in the food available for evening meal, it was mediocre pub grub, in the past restaurant food was available, extremely disappointed in the food and we wished we hadn’t booked a table there for evening meal. However great beer garden but needs some money spending on the garden furniture as some benches falling apart. Unfortunately we won’t be having a return visit despite the staff being friendly and accommodating

Rooms come with tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi is available throughout The Strands Hotel. Parking is also provided. The Strands and Screes Inn were built in 18th century and both retain many original features, with log fires and wooden beams throughout. Home cooked food is on the menu and beer is brewed in the on-site micro-brewery. The Strands and Screes Inn are perfectly positioned to explore the natural beauty of the Lake District National Parl. The deepest lake (Wastwater) and the mountain of Scafell Pike are both within walking distance.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The shower and bathroom was good. The bed was comfy, and slept well. Tea making facilities in your room. Staff were fantastic, so friendly and welcoming.
Cons: The room was below the bar and they had jazz singer with saxophone and flute playing till 12.30am at night so if you wanted an early night you couldn't but this could of just been a one off. And they had an extension cable nailed to a bit of wood, so I was worried it would overheat.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and restaurant. Excellent range of whiskies!
Cons: The shower had a very low flow but was usable
4.5 Okay
Pros: Excellent location in the Lake District, food better (and better value) in the Screes Restaurant, particularly helpful breakfast waitress, and mostly helpful staff throughout.
Cons: Dinner in the Strands Restaurant was poor and expensive. Thin overcooked pork chop, so called 'hand cut' chips tasteless, 'salad' from a pack. Room was small with very cramped bathroom. You could feel the springs on the mattress, see the mould in the shower and, really, (well used) carpet in the bathroom? Breakfast was OK but coffee appalling, and you have to walk through three rooms to get it, and every refill. Condiments were usual thin marmalade in packs etc. Clearly the management of the hotel have done everything to reduce their costs and nothing to increase comfort and convenience...but charge a typically inflated Lake District price.
7.0 Good
Pros: A wide choice and well prepared
7.5 Good
Pros: I had dinner both nights I stayed in the pub , 1st night service was amazing. Nice lady behind the pub who served me.
Cons: Unfortunately you will always have inconsiderate people staying with you. After the pub side has closed for the night on the 2nd night, people were still sitting outside and talking and making a noise till after 1am. Not much one can do about this. With regards to staff not enough staff in the morning for breakfast. Especially the second morning, felt as if I was being ignored and took for ever to get cooked breakfast I was not impressed. Second night at the pub for dinner service was not good was a different group serving they change staff between the two pubs compared 1st night was allot better.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good hearty Full English with local ingredients and very friendly staff.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast OK. Evening meal menu was good. Location good. Excellent beer brewed on site.
Cons: Room a reasonable size but decor in poor state. Too warm (in hot summer weather). Windows only open a couple of inches and rattled in wind. No fan available.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was what we went for. It is splendid. Excellent evening meal and breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Convenient for the Wasdale fells, a lively pub with rooms-the rooms are simple, clean, comfortable with power shower and tea-making facilities. Generous breakfast; long evening "a la carte" menu.
Cons: I dont like dogs sniffing around my ankles when eating in hotel dining rooms. My suggestion would be a separation of the pub (beer, dogs, muddy boots etc) from the dining facilities
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Staff wonderful, helpful and cheerful. The food was great with an excellent choice. Breakfast was everything you would expect.
Cons: Shampoo and shower gel could do with being more plentiful. We had to request more.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loads of lovely fluffy towels. Great breakfast. Staff all very friendly. Great location and being able to use the grounds when closed to the public. Beds very comfy. Grandchildren loved it. We all enjoyed watching the herons being fed at 4pm. 8 herons turned up, fantastic sight.
Cons: Bathroom could do with painting as some damp spots and also skirting board badly paint chipped.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast was more canteen than cafe but was ok
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was great having the grounds to ourselves after the visitors left at five. The breakfast was great and all staff were friendly and helpful. The towels were fluffy and the bedding was fresh and crisp. The gardens were beautiful and we really enjoyed the owl session and the sky hunters show and the feeding of the wild herons. The castle was lovely and we only had to pay £2 to get in. Bird shows were free to us as residents.
Cons: The room was a bit small but it wasn’t a problem. It would be nice to have a shelf in the bathroom near the sink for setting out toothbrushes, shaving gear etc.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Superb location in grounds of beautiful castle. Entry fee to gardens and some bird of prey shows included. Excellent walks from accoomodation
Cons: Room rather warm, no air con. Blinds but no curtains so wind rattled blinds
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff and service were excellent. The breakfast was also very good value for money with a great amount of choice. In addition, the coachman's quarters are in fantastic surroundings which are impressive.
Cons: The building should be slightly better maintained and perhaps updated in terms of finish.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff in all areas of the accommodation and grounds were extremely helpful and welcoming. The rooms were very good with all facilities that were needed for a one night stay. The breakfast was exceptional. As guests staying in the converted stable block we had full access to the grounds and the Owl and Raptor displays - and all areas were dog friendly. An overall positive experience and good value for money.
Cons: There was nothing not to like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, and the opportunity to walk the grounds after closing time. The owls, birds of prey and the feeding of the wild herons were good - and the talks that went with them. We even enjoyed the children's maze! The area was quieter than some parts of the Lakes in season - and there was the narrow gauge railway to Boot. And pubs in Ravenglass for evening meal.
Cons: For a couple of breakfasts the egges were a little overdone for my taste. (I note you would like more, but there isn't any more to complain about - the horrible anti-theft coat hangers that most hotels etc go in for? As if I'd want to take a coat hanger!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast, room and atmosphere couldn’t be faulted. Great customer service, they called when we would be late checking in and a member of the family came to meet us when we had trouble finding the entrance in the dark!
Cons: The only thing that could have been better was the weather. The children enjoyed the play park but we weren’t able to make the most of it as it rained but just one of those things.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The scenery was lovely, bird shows amazing too
Cons: Lovely stay, fair few dead spiders in the bathroom and the bedroom smelt a bit musty when you first go in but overall lovely stay
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We liked the fact that it was in the grounds of Muncaster Castle and all the benefits of the gardens and bird displays. Very comfortable room and good breakfast, especially as you ordered from a list of menu items which was sensible as saves wastage.
Cons: Black mould around shower tray.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Mostly fine, went ok till one of the staff set fire to his room and then we had farce and not even an apology when booking out next morning
Cons: It seems the fire policy, needs to be looked at and customer relations needs to be improved
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful. We were evacuated due to a fire caused by a careless guest. The hotel staff managed the situation very well and kept us informed throughout - very professional.
Cons: Quite a few flies in the public areas - these should be dealt with.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location. Very comfy bed. Nice decent TV, not your usual 19" jobby. The steak I had was good, tho not great, but they had no tomato ketchup!!
Cons: Was greatly disappointed considering all the good reviews we read before booking! The room was tiny, there was only just enough room to walk around the bed, and there was no way two of you could pass! Only one chair in the room. The TV was above the headboard so we had to sit on the end of the bed to view-very uncomfortable! Also, it was so, SO hot, loads of heat coming from what looked like a micro brewery in the cupboard, but I'm sure it was the hot water tank with about 40 foot of piping going all around it! We got a very small fan from reception, and this was a bit better, but still very hot! Bath was dated with chips in it. Bathroom door would neither latch close nor would lock, so good job me and the Missus wasn't on our first date! Toilet paper looked like it was from Home Bargains! Carpet had stains, certainly not the exceptionally clean reviews I read before booking. Won't be returning!

7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was beautiful your sister pub the Inn was excellent.
Cons: I didn't feel like I'd been to a hotel which is what I booked. I think you should let people know on booking. com that it is the annex building you are putting them in. I have spoken to booking. com and they said it was your choice to place us there.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, breakfast was great. Room nicely furnished with a good tea set.
Cons: Not much of an atmosphere (except for chaos at breakfast time). They said there was parking but it was full. Lucky there was a space on the beach front, where parking restrictions didn't apply at weekends. There weren't many spaces though, so we were lucky.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming, very helpful charismatic staff and owners. Friendly, relaxed. Great food and drink. Characterful. Wonderful breakfast. Amazing location. Very quiet room with amazing views. Comfortable bed. Truly superb range of whisky (185 types). Perfectly kept and served beer. I left my ice cream in the room and the charming house keeper very kindly brought it out to the car park for me.
Cons: Would have preferred pure cotton bedding. What I perceived to be a percentage of man-made fibres in the duvet and pillow covers made the bed a little too hot. The bathroom fan was noisy and came on with the light, so trips to the toilet in the night time may wake your partner. Another minor thing is that the light in the toilet next to the bar is on a short timer and there are no windows. It twice plunged me into darkness before finishing and the only way to get the light back on is to leave the cubicle and wave arms around. Not ideal. Fortunately there was no-one around to shock.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Not enough staff and felt rushed.
