Good for overnight stops.
the price no english channels on tv. thats not really a fair criticism after all we were in france.
excellent buffet breakfast small pod style bathroom, climb upto third bed
Accessibility, cleanliness, and the added bonus of a very pleasant evening stroll around the lake ! The meal deal with the restuarant next door provided a very enjoyable, and well-priced dinner. We were sufficiently impressed to decide to use the hotel on on return journry, and would happily do so again in the future. If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful overnight stay en route it's an ideal place
The hotel was adequate for our requirements
This hotel was conveinent for us boarding the ferry the following morning thats all. 40 Euros which did not include breakfast did not for us represent value for money. The shower room was actually smaller than the one in the cabin we booked on the Belfast / Liverpool Ferry. The electrical socket which the tv was plugged into was hanging out the wall. Everybody had there own entrance and the entry to your room was from directly outside of the building which for me added a potential security problem. sheets were clean but the blankets were smelly and not very clean. Young Children were running around and around the outside of the rooms late at night which was very noisey. Sorry I would not recomend this hotel unless you were a bunch of lads who wanted to get drunk sleep it off and who also wanted to waist their money.
Very convenient No
Friendly staff, Excellent buffet breakfast. Small rooms. Bit cramped for 3 adults.
Everything was great, especially as the hotel is near a Camponile, one can have a dinner in the evening. Toilet paper was too basic..
Handy for the ferry Very busy due to good location fron the ferry made it a little noisey
closness to port
Located near a Carrefour hypermarket, so easy for shopping. Basic accomodation at a very reasonable price. Room was basic and rather noisey, could hear people walking about above us all night.
Breakfast availability was helpful and v good value. It was also v reasonably priced.Room heaters were effctive which helped in the cold weather. It was v noisy, being on a commercial estate and near to a busy main road. Also it was motel style and people were arriving and leaving all night. It was also v difficult to find from Dunkerque port.
Disgusting will never use again or reccomend Magots in rrom, dirty bedlinen,no plates for toast,no spoons for ceral,,,shower dangerous andnot able to use as it would have flodded the bathroom, unless you are a stick insect showers no use
The breakfast was O.K. The Hotel is basicly made up of small ships cabins, and there-fore there is not much room. The washing basin was very small that it was difficult to have a shave, and the toilet did not flush properly
Friendly staff, handy location to Port for ferry to UK Very limited services but next door an excellent restaurant in a sister hotel.
A very basic, cheap hotel right by a shopping mall. Everything you need is more or less there - it served its purpose as a stop over before the ferry. The hotel could probably be improved in every area, but then the price would need to go up as well. You get possibly more that the price would suggest.
The breakfast was excellent, being able to eat and drink as much we liked. The location and disabled parking facility were good. the room was very clean. The room was cramped and bathroom was diabolically small. The shower was virtually unusable due to it's size. No tea or coffee making facilities, ie no kettle.
Close to large hypermarket and other shops, very cheap for basic accomodation. Smell from the toilet into the sleeping area, as it only has a concertina type plastic door.
The hotel was in a good location, the room was really nice with a huge bathroom and lots of space. The breakfast is very overpriced at 12.50 euros per person and the room had an overpowering smell of perfumed cleaner so we had to open all the windows to clear the smell a bit.
Excellent room, service, breakfast. Theme rooms were great fun. Travelled with parents and other family member they had great rooms and enjoyable stay. No bad points.
The tranquillity and view were superb would have to be very lucky to find another as good. At the time we stayed it lacked atmosphere as it was very very quiet, think only one other couple were staying.
We liked the location, the amazing views from the room and the building's character.
Unique decor and history of hotel, located in a spectacular French small town.
Layout of cottage was excellent, especially as we had dogs. No staff spoke any English. No restaurant. Unable to work tv system correctly - only 4 channels available and all were French. Roof had leaked onto bed so bedclothes were wet and stained - it appeared that the room had not been checked prior to occupation (other than to turn on some heating) and had not been used for some time. Glass door on single toilet, which was right next to kitchen, was not appropriate. Access to main hotel from the cottage was difficult due to lack of lighting and no directions so had to access by walking back round from main road. Information in room suggested that breakfast was available in the room but this was not the case (having called a french speaking friend to translate for us).
Peaceful. Lovely swimming pool. Although no restaurant was easy walking distance of several good restaurants. Interesting history from 1st world war. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times but when we had an accident in our car they transported us to the ferry for our return journey home. Over and above the call of duty. With many thanks to Justine and all the lovely staff on duty day and night.
Absolutely lovely Hotel. Fantastic setting on top of a hill, with amazing views. Peaceful, comfortable rooms, very imaginatively decorated. Very friendly staff and generally lovely ambiance
Superb! We had a 7 hour drive from Switzerland to UK and wanted to stay somewhere en route near Calais. There are not many hotels near Calais like this one. Off the beaten track, but only 40 minutes drive to the ports in the morning. Fantastic room (Moulin Rouge suite) and just a generally high quality feel to the whole place. Only continental breakfast available and we thought the bread/croissants/jam already on our table was it, however more followed including hot crepes, fruit, cheese, ham etc. Nothing to complain about, but 2 observations: 1) There is only a small car park which has quite a tight entrance. Max 4 cars which might be a problem in high season. However, it does feel very secure as you are parked literally at the front door and overlooked by reception. At busier times, there is parking at the rear of the hotel. 2) The hotel did not offer evening meals when we stayed (end Sept). Initially we thought this a poor situation, but the staff were able to provide a list of recommended local restaurants many of which were only a short walk away. Our trip to the Kasteelhof Restaurant proved memorable as it was very rustic and full of local charm and surprisingly inexpensive.
Plenty of space, large bedroom with comfortable bed. Lovely view from breakfast room & balcony. Smell of air freshener / incense(?) when first arrived in room.
Location for the city centre was good but Dunkirk a small place so not a lot going on. Most attractions seemed to be on the seafront which was little way from the hotel. The hotel was a throwback from poor 1960's designs and was undergoing a maintenance programme whilst we stayed there. In consideration of this it was very expensive and were sure other hotels in the area would of offered more for the same or less money. Nothing particularly bad about the hotel apart the price and poor interiors.
The hotel is undergoing major building work and should really be closed, staying there is a very unpleasant experience Everything!
Good breakfast, comfy beds, adequate for our one night stay. Incorrect address on internet, therefore had great difficulty finding hotel just before midnight - sat-nav confused, and no pedestrians to ask. Also hotel is at present a building site due to renovations - had to gain access via temporary small and unlit entrance.
A short oneoff stay in Dunkirk. We would not visit the towm again so would not stay again at the hotel
Staff were very friendly and helpful, dispite the language barrier. Room was adequate enough for a 2 star hotel. Room was very clean and facilities were in adequate working order. The cleaning staff were quite noisy when they were doing their rounds which lasted from 0730-1400 (approx). The shower did not work properly, but the bathroom was clean enough. I was charged for breakfast for one on the days I stayed, even though I did not order it, and on checking out at 0630, it could not be amended due to the time the day staff came on duty, so I ended up paying for it regardless as we had a ferry to catch at 0715.
Good portside location for overnight stay. Good breakfast provided and pleasant but retricted evening meal. The hotel is being renovated and was a building site. We were amazed they were still taking bookings. We were offered no discount for the inconvenience. The decor was dated and very shabby in places and the hotel was noisy/not well sound proofed. Luckily we had only booked one night.
The hotel had a good location and personel was friendly. The bathroom was very old and I could hardly make the warm water come out. The bed was ver small and not very confortable. The hotel was doing some work and the environment was not very nice to look at.
Convenient location for car ferry travel. Car parking facilities were not clear.
Bed linen clean; nice shampoo and soap provided Bedroom smelt of cigerette smoke; mold in bathroom; toliet dirty; no bedside lights; no hooks in bathroom; broken window panes in the dinning room, general air of tiredness about the hotel
Staff are very good nothing all very good
the look of the breakfast
Very nice and clean. This modern hotel is definitely a nice relaxing place to stay. A very short walk to the beach, and easy access to the main centre. The staff could do with smiling a little bit more. They were friendly enough, but not particularly welcoming.
Very Clean, good decor, in good order, good position for amenities, pleasant, efficient staff Room very small, very basic equipment, no hairdryer in room, no fridge or drinks facility. We chose the hotel because of its restaurant only to find it was closed for most of August (shd have been informed of this)
good location for what we wanted, ie visit to the Dunkirk war museum
Very impressed with the whole experiance. Staff were very helpfull. Food was well priced and very good. Will definately recommend. 5 star service for a 3 star price. none
efficient and friendly when coping with changes and requests For a non-smoking room, it smelt of smoking (accepting that it's previous guests which have caused it).
close to the beach's retaurants light is missing in night's door entrance. It's dark, so one cannot see the code buttons.
My room was clean, quiet and comfortable and there was plenty of on street parking available The hotel is out of the centre of Dunkirk and nearly half an hour from the Ferry Port. That is not clear on the website. For cross channel activity I would not choose the hotel again.
It was a good experience to stay in a clean hotel with recently refurbished rooms.
Excellent staff, bilingual, very friendly, very hard working! The room smelled of cigarette smoke, but apart from that was spotlessly clean and adequate.
will be going back in 6 weeks, same hotel 10/10
omfortable basic hotel for short stay
Convenient location, easy booking Lack of instructions and information in English
These Hotels are satisfactory but fairly basic. The meal in the restaurant was good and no complaints with the breakfast. The welcome could have been much improved.
Excellent location from ferry port
You get what you pay for. Last time ever at a Campanile
Good value for money, clean
The convenience for the ferry from England.
Rooms good size, clean and airy. Bath available. Central to area for touring. Impressed by the 3 staff at the evening meal for the way they coped with serving us as well as a 20+ sports team in a very timely fashion. Room was smoky although non smoking sign on door. Room close to road subject to traffic noise. Thin walls meant that noisy guests were annoying.
every thing except the breakfast Even by continental breakfast standards the breakfast was poor. Tiny little bits of cheese and minuscule squares of ham do not a breakfast make, and for E 6.30 was very poor value for money.
The service was in top - Very helpful staff
No tea/coffee making facilities in rooms. Rooms very plain no mirror in bedroom
Best nights sleep we have had in years. Paid for b and b and had to leave early, and did not get any discount for the lack of breakfast.
It was very near the port in a good position We had stayed at Etap hotels which had bright rooms and very practical. The hotel room was dull in comparison and more expensive. The bedroom smelt of smoke.
Easy to find. Short drive to local hypermarket and shops. Parking within hotel complex.
we arrived after midnight but after calling we were able to arrive late. The staff were friendly and spoke good english. as we arrived late we found it a little difficult to find as the 'blue elephant' car wash was not lit up
The food was excellent though the restaurant was not open at the weekends and finding alternatives in the immediate area was difficult. There was not a lot of space in our double bedroom for putting anyhing.
the only thing good about our stay was the fact we had a new bathroom The room was very small there were no facilities for making tea and coffee there was only one chair the tv`s are too high for the height of the bed
Continental breakfast was OK but expensive for a budget hotel/motel. A good size car park. The noise from banging room doors, and the strong disinfectant/air freshner smell in the room.
