Relatively clean my wife like it. The advertisement was two doubles/queens (I'm not sure which) or King size bed. When I got to the hotel, of course they only had the room with two queens for my wife and I. This seems to be common trend for Waikiki because I had the exact same experience at another hotel.
Kind, friendly and welcoming entire staff Everything
The hotel was literally 2 blocks from the beach, so the location was great. It had a balcony with chairs that looked out over a nice park like looking area. The hotel itself was hard to find. There are no signs showing the name of the hotel, an address, nothing. After literally passing it about 5 times, I accidentally saw the name of the hotel around the back on a small sandwich board. You have to enter from the back if you have a car and pay $25 to park. So the hotel itself is decent looking both inside and out, and it is in a great location, literally like 2 blocks from the beach. However, the hotel is ancient, and they do little to no upkeep. The elevator was rickety. The room itself wasn't bad. Big bed, but thankfully there were 5 pillows because they were totally flat. There was a fridge, that almost kept water semi-chilled if you kept it in the freezer part. There was a tiny air conditioner, on the floor that almost kept the room manageable. There was a great balcony, however, you couldn't leave the door open to get the good breeze because there was no screen. The bathroom was minuscule, and clearly had seen better days. The paint was coming off of the ceiling and everything needed an update. Oh and the best part, if you are going there to have a romantic evening, that is good, because there is only one tiny lamp in the room with a really dim bulb for mood lighting. However if you are trying to read a map or make plans for the next day, you better doing during daylight because that one pitiful lamp wasn't enough to read anything. Overall, the place was clean, there were no bugs, for the most part you couldn't hear other people, and once you found the hotel, the location was great. So if you just need a place to crash while you are staying on the island doing other things, it is worth staying. If you are going there for the great things the hotel has to offer, you might want to try elsewhere.
Staff friendliness and efficiency, cleanliness, location as both beach and shopsnearby Traffic noise, rock hard beds
I like that it was close to waikiki I didn't like the bathroom. Parts of the ceiling were severely water damaged. And the pool was minimal
Everything was as expected!
One of the check in clerks seemed a lil strange but other than that staff was friendly, also we asked for a later check out with was denied and the maid came knocking at our doors at 1030 which didn't make me very happy since we had till 11. Other than that I'd stay again just to get away and play tourist for a night.
Location Noisy hallways, can hear people slamming their doors and talking. Walls aren't insulated/sound proof??
Absolutely nothing The whole time was terrible, I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy.
Location and Price Bathroom could have been a little nicer/updated
The water pressure is the only good thing The pictures did not match the room. There was mold on the ceiling and the curtains of the shower as well a rust on the tub and drainage. Spoke to the assistant manager and all I got was the room that you were in was not the one on the picture. No good customer service and people there don't know how to service you.
The location is great. No ocean views but that was not why I was here. Good city views. Bathroom is dated. The hallways are stinky. Probably from many many years of smoking. carpets dated. Nice big screen TV very comfortable beds very functional overall. After I booked my room and got my confirmation from hotels.com through kayak.com, I was surprised when I checked in and was charged a $10 resort fee they call it. This includes the use of a safe coffee maker ironing board and Wi-Fi. All of this is usually free and most hotels now everybody is charging for it.
The room space and the fact it had a kitchen.Staff was friendly. Grounds were clean and beautiful. Walking distance to shopping and Waikiki. Construction next door, noisy. Remodel of one elevator made it a horrible wait each time you needed one!
Customer Service and plenty of amenities for kids. We stayed at Kalia tower and it was very pleasant to go in and out. No floating tubes allowed in the pool.
Booked a studio and was appalled upon arrival. For the excessive amount of money charged for what is a Hilton Grand Vacation property, I walked into a tiny room comparative to a Days Inn room, with no view, dark, dismal, with no balcony. I immediately called to reception to express my concerns and at first they weren't going to do anything. But I insisted and got upgraded to a better room, a one bedroom. It was in the tower next door, the Grand Waikikian, a 'luxury' property. The one bedroom suite was very nice. It had a full kitchen, two bedded bedroom, a big tub, walk-in shower, nice bathroom and a view of a busy intersection and other buildings from its balcony, which I never used, due to the view. Hey, it was an improvement over the studio. The Hilton property is huge, consisting of many buildings, a variety of pools, a shopping mall, and lots and lots of people arriving in busses. If you are looking for a quiet bit of luxury, DO NOT stay here. You will be miserable. But if you like the excitement and hubbub, you might like it. We walked the entire property looking for a quiet secluded spot but didn't find a single one. They have a great beachfront location, with their own private lagoon which is beautiful. The gym is a trek from most other buildings and consists of lots of aerobic equipment but nothing but free weights. There is a pool there, the quietest one on the property, but no view and not near the beach. The spa is costly and using the steam room, sauna and dressing rooms will cost you $17 per day. The resort is a 15 minute walk away from the action in Waikiki, or a $6 cab ride. Waikiki beach is fun, loaded with malls, restaurants, high-end designer shops and lots of tourists. There are lots of little restaurants around the hotel and the hotel itself has many that are much pricier. The staff are generally very nice and helpful, but there are a handful of sourpusses working here. There are so many nicer hotels than the Hilton for the same cost, I see ...
The Accommodation Knowing we had five in the room there was not any blankets or sheets for the extra bed
The grounds were stunning and made you feel you were in Paradise, unfortunately our room was tiny and only had 2 small windows so felt quite dark and dingy. We had booked a king bed but got given 2 doubles, when we tried later in stay to change or upgrade was told not possible as both Grand Vacations and Hotel fully booked out, saying that it did not seem crowded, was always able to get pool loungers and restaurants not busy
Many type of restaurant, pool and shop. If possible, more smoking space would be appreciated.
Location Front desk staff were unorganized and rude. Room we bioked was not ready and wecwere given the run around
The location is awesome, close to the beach, close to shops, entertainment etc.
Location was great. Close to everything. Valet parking was slow. I paid for it , but could have self parked faster. The Valet scanner to call for your vehicle never worked and only seemed like one valet working at any given time. Calling down to preorder valet service did not work either.
I was pleasantly surprised with the suite. I knew it was Hilton and would live up to its name, but I never expected the size and beauty of what we got. There were 5 of us so we needed space. So I opted not to take the standard hotel route and go with a suite. It was more than that. It was an apartment! 2 full bedrooms, two baths, a spacious living room, dining room, and a full kitchen. There was also free laundry room nearby. All was a part of a huge vacation complex right on the beach with multiple pools. Close to most amenities our adult children wre able to entertain themselves without needing to use the rental car. The hotel staff were very nice. The only complaint wad was there was something that kept biting my daughter and we narrowed it down to the room. Even though they did come change the sheéts, she was still getting bit each day. Other than offer their condolences they did not admit fault, nor any compensation to amend for the problem. We didn't press the issue.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel! With the splendid room and quiet location, the hotel was as enjoyable as the destination!
The location and the view was good. no cork screw in the room; you need to go to front desk to get you wine opened and Starbucks closed super early.
Gorgeous polished floors and a lovely sleek decor. Quiet, beautiful. Will return soon!
Location away from hustle/bustle of Waikiki, cleanliness and modern design of rooms, very comfortable bed, views of Diamondhead and partial view of ocean. Ocean views are not truly full ocean views - partial only. The lone elevator was intermittently working during my stay, which makes things challenging staying on a high floor. Breakfast only had coffee/tea and pre-made items.
Location, staff and bicycles Bed was a little old. Needs updating.
Close proximetry to downtown area but away enough to not have all the traffic. It has a beautiful park across the street and a view of Diamond Head.
Clean, comfortable, convenient. Nothing to complain about about facilities. 3 pm check-in was inconvenient.
The hotel was quiet, modestly priced and located adjacent to the trolley lines and public transit.
Friendly front desk, better rate than surrounding hotels, clean and easy. stayed for one night, barely spent time at the hotel proper, but room got really dark and we were able to sleep in till 11am after a late night, no problem. Pool looked small but nice, never got to use it. Bellman was slightly odd helping me with my bags to the car (it was waiting just beyond the boundary of the hotel) but he still did it! Couldn't tell if he was joking or not (afraid not). Front desk said it would be no problem, though, so that was another plus on the service.
If not looking to be on the beach - this is a great location. Furnishings are dated - definitely can use an update!
location is nice additional fees was not readily include in pricing, so the cost advertised is not cost charged.
The location was great, the staff was friendly and while the room was clean and the view fair enough,it seemed small and unfortunately the tub backed up and that was not at all appealing. That could happen anywhere, anytime but this instance was really bad timing. other than that mentioned above, the hotel was pleasant. On the recommendation below, a maybe was really my thought but i accidentally picked no.
The location was good and the hotel was nice overall. Despite it's size, the room was pretty nicely laid out. The room was very small. The A/C had failed. I knew something was up because the check in process was painful and there were lots of other upset customers. What really made me angry was the way the clerk checked us in completely without mentioning the problem. After she handed us our keys she casually mentioned that there wasn't any AC and it would not be fixed anytime soon. There was no offer to compensate for this. Later we approached another clerk with a complaint and were were told that they were attempting to place customers at other Aqua properties. It seemed that they only did this if you were very persistent. At that point we ended up stuck with the room because they never followed up on our request. The thing that really upset me the most was indifferent nasty attitude displayed by the first clerk. I might have had a different experience on a another day, but this time turned me off completely. There a lot of other fine places to stay in this price range. I won't risk coming back to this chain.
Staff is very friendly
Friendly staff Outdated, few amenities, drab
Charged for 40 dollars of amenities we didn't use ie tv wifi etc
The friendly staff and very helpful. Parking fee is way too high. The parking entrance way is steep. It was kind of scare because my rental car almost did make it up all the way. It would be nice if it's a little lower.
The power cut out on us. We didn't have power for the last night of our stay. Since the power was out we didn't have hot water either. The hotel is planning to issue a refund for the last night.
Basic hotel with necessities. Good location for price. Traffic in and out of hotel parking is horrible
Location The night desk clerk was rude, didn't provide needed information regarding parking or the fact we needed to use a certain elevator to reach our room until after we had problems and brought it to her attention.
On Site Laundry, close to the hub of Waikiki, beautiful views. Free movie rental kiosk. Wine and Cheese on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Sunny the lying manager who is never there, the staff who could care less, their constant lies and most of all their Valet that will destroy your car and laugh about it. This is a terrible hotel, it subsidizes the condominium owners who live on site. We also had bugs in our room and maid service ceased after the 3rd day. Be warned!
Asked for a higher floor and given a room on the 16th floor which was awesome! Everythng about it was great besides the hefty parking cost. We paid more for parking fir 2 days than the actual car rental itself. Wish this hotel was in the middle of everything but walking wasnt too bad. Definitely recommend this place to everyone!
They have this amazing beer, wine and cheese event every other day that is included in your stay. The location is perfect, you are close enough to the water to walk and also close to the night life. They clean your room while you are gone and place an orchid as a center piece on a day of your stay. The only downside was the 35 dollar a night charge for parking, but that is easily remedied by free street parking, assuming you rented a car. I really did love this place
Rooms are clean. Kitchenette is nice. Partial ocean view room from floor 12 is great One elevator was shut down completely during our stay and of the two remaining only one seemed to be in service. It seemed to stop at every floor and took forever to get to our room or to the lobby. Once I waited a full 15 minutes for the elevator
The rooms in person do not look anything like the pictures they post online. Definitely a facade! Rooms are very small, and not sound proof whatsoever. It was very hard to sleep at night or in the afternoon. You could hear everyone passing by the room and in other rooms. Staff were okay. Overall, it was alright just not what I expected from what they have posted about their rooms online.
Worst stay ever . Avoid at all cost
The staff; Mike, Isau, and Harry were wonderful! They responded very quickly to all request and answered any questions I had. They assisted in making sure my luggage was taken care of and my plane bookings were correct. They also called the shuttle for me and made the arrangements! There is a lot of construction going on, and they don't have a restaurant in the hotel. But I was directed to the very nearby places to eat.
The hotel was very convienent for resturants and shopping...close to the beach and accessable for buses and shuttles to take us where ever we wanted to go.
would of liked a pool but all was fine would stay again as above
It was clean with central location. It was very noisy to the point it was difficult to sleep any of the nights I was there with the loud background noise of the ventilation in the bathroom plus externally - ear plugs offered to guests would be of benefit. It was also the only hotel on my trip that did not offer a hair dryer.
The staff was excellent and friendly. The junior suite was big and clean. They definitely tried really hard to make up for their limited facilities. Old and a little expensive considering their limited accommodations.
Not much No Parking
Good clean and just renovated. Good location in heart of Waikiki. Not really a complaint, booked 2 bedroom apartment but have only 1 attached bathroom to one of teh rooms. Rather inconvenient, imaging waking in middle of night having to transit through the other room to use bathroom. No privacy. Family with young kids maybe be acceptable.
The nearness to the beach. Very noise neighborhood. Music almost through the night.
Good localization (you really don´t need to pay 3 times more to have an ocean view in other hotels) and price. Hotel is under revitalization and my room was already "updated". Parking lot expensive and with only a few places. I´ve payed 20% less in a public parking one block ahead, with vallet service!
no comments I did not like the charge for the room, was more that when i made the reservation, nothing was exacly with my reservation.
The location in Waikiki is about as good as you can find. I took a small group using 14 rooms. I would tell you more, but I am right now in the process tonight of organizing a few more tours and very busy. No complaints at all.
Good location and comfortable place to relax. Would of like a kettle for hot water and glass cups not plastic cups.
Everything really. This is the second time we have stayed at your hotel. The staff are lovely. Nothing is too much for anyone of them. The location is excellant and the price also is great.
I enjoyed the short distance it was from the beach. One of the employees storming into our room when we were getting ready.
We booked this hotel after looking at the booking.com website and found that the hotel and it's staff were indeed excellent. We only ate breakfast in the hotel and found that if you did not want the buffet basic menu items were expensive.
You should have the option to pay if you use it or not pay if your not using it (Resort or Amenity).
Conveniently located 2 beachs, shops and restaurants. Overal good location. Only that you should get what is advertised.
Location to Waikiki Beach No Bar
This is an older hotel, so shows its age in places, but rooms were comfortable and couldn't beat the location
close to main area of interest, friendlyness of staff pool is poor, training of some staff
The hotel offers value for money, given its location a couple of minutes walk to the main beach. It is quiet at night. All staff were pleasant. Nothing we didnt like, however we could see that the compact toilet/shower would not suit some people.
The view of the water, we were on he 18th floor. The staff were friendly and helpful too. I didn't like the telephone ringing in the hall! It was just a minor annoyance though. Also didn't like the garbage being collected outiside at about 5 a.m. It woke me up all the time. I thought that was what the noise was anyway. Also the beeping of the backing up of buses and trucks outside.
Valet staff was cool Rude front desk...guy at check in was professional and courteous, but ladies at check out including the manager were rude and even hung up on me when inquiring about extending our stay! Checked out and went to Hilton Hawaiian Village for an additional 3 nights, and the level of care there was worth the additional we spwnt on activities and tips there. I would not recommend this hotel, sorry.
Pool Room was just like a motel. We were on the third floor and could hear every conversation the people at the sidewalk were having, with the balcony door closed! So you can imagine how loud it was given that the room was overlooking a busy tour bus stop. Single pane balcony doors that wouldnt close fully. The hotel (err motel) handyman came and jerry rigged something, but the door will slide open slowly from vibration making it noisier. Staff said they can't give us any other room for the rate we paid, which was $200+ per night excluding taxes. I think I should expect a little better from a name like Marriott. They should offer us a credit for the lousy experience we had. We moved to an apartment for a lower price and had a much better experience.
I had no serious problem with my stay. It was always clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. I found the valet parking was very well handled. It didn't matter how often you were coming in, or going out, the service was excellent. The hotel location was a little strangely placed, but that seemed to be Waikiki. It was centrally, and easily, gotten to. I had reserved a room with two beds and a pull-out sofa, When I got to the room, midnight-ish, we had to call down to the desk and ask that the sofabed be made it. We were advised that it would be "extra" to have done. Also, the room was reserved for 3 adults. There were never 3 full sets of towels. They had to be asked for. Lastly, I am a Marriott rewards customer. I have used the Courtyards all over the states. I found this one to be in offset, older building. The room was nice but nothing was attractive. Everything was squeezed into a small placed. You get two grown men, of 6'7" stature, around the room with 3 beds. Hmph!
We enjoyed the friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms & restaurants near by. The staff always greeted us with a smile and allowed us to have a late check out, however, they weren't able to extend to 2pm, but they held our bags from our checkout time until we left.
Location Dark bathroom. Paper thin walls. Construction sounds starting at 9am officially but unofficially started at 7:45am. This should be great when the renovations are complete. But until then I would look elsewhere.
Location Rooms were musty smelling not clean very outdated carpet was disgusts didn't even want to walk on them without shoes on
The location was okay and the second room I stayed in after asking to move because of the paper thin walls would have been okay if not for the extreme construction noise starting at 8am. There was a complete lack of privacy and even without the construction there is so little sound proofing that it's like you're sharing the room with your neighbours. And the housekeeping staff is very noisy in the hallway early in the morning and throughout much of the day. The pool is small and gets little direct sunlight. If you decide to rent a car, parking is $35 a day plus tips. The staff plays dumb to complaints. And the housekeepers don't knock or call before walking into your room. There were a lot of disapointed guests during my stay. I would never recommend this hotel--even without the construction.
Location was 3 blocks for the beach. Centrally located with bus stop right out front. Price was right $127 night plus taxes but not worth anymore for the size of the room. Rooms were small and dated but comfortable I don't really think this was a hotel that was good for kids the pool was not heated and the hot tub is not a kids pool.
Nothing. Bad hotel. Everything
After a last minute confusion with our booking, we went on kayak to find a hotel to stay for the 2 nights/3 days I was here in Oahu. The Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki beach was a comfortable stay. Our room was facing a busy street (Kuhio st) with a bus stop that stops right in front. Thankfully for pandora, my iphone, and speakers, you can drain the sound. Location and price definitely was a plus. The valet were always pleasant and nice, as well as the front desk. The room was small and a bit out dated. The rooms facing the street will get traffic noise.
The location is good. King bed was good. Microwave and fridge were helpful. The lobby was more impressive than the rooms. Staff was helpful. The outdoor hallways for getting to the rooms are scary. The rooms are small for the price. Shower took a long time to get hot. Fold out couch bed not comfortable. Could use some plastic ware. Valet parking was the only choice and very expensive, but maybe that's the going rate in Waikiki. A/C on outer wall doesn't reach inner room unless door and blinds are left open. Bathroom needs a shelf for guests to place their toiletry bags.
Nice and clean hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool is very nice and beautiful. Bathroom is very small. Doors open right to the toilet. You can't even go thru. Very noisy outside all night long. Faucets in the bathroom and kitchen spray water all over the counter and its dripping on the floor. It is too expensive.
Renovated rooms Wanted to extent my stay another night. Front desk didn't try harder & go beyond her job of duty to try & make some kind of exception to maintain customer satisfaction rather than saying I'm sorry & loosing a satisfied guest & putting me thru a lot of inconvenience.
We had a view of the canal from our balcony - beautiful! The location was extremely convenient as we didn't have to drive through busy Waikiki to access the freeway but we were close enough to walk to the main strip and the beach for a swim. It's a little outdated but it was still cleaner than some newer hotels I've stayed in!
Price for location, key card doesn't need to be removed from wallet to access room Old carpet and furniture, tvs are small
Very clean and helpful friendly staff. Really enjoyed our stay and you can beat the price.
Extremely friendly staff and great location. Our room featured a kitchenette, private balcony, and an updated bath. We only stayed one night but those features would have been great for a longer stay. While the room was, for the most part, very clean the carpet could probably have used a deep cleaning.
For 200$ including parking in a super small stall, couldn't open doors at once, this room had nothing. No soaps no shampoo or lotion bottles . The tv was from 1990 at least and showed it. The check in process took at lot of time. I would never stay at this place again
This place has the friendliest staff if any place I have been. Very helpful and kind all around. The rooms are a good deal for the money. Full kitchen and close too waikiki beach The street seemed to be a little shady but close to all the stores and restaurants. The beds were not very comfortable and it was pretty bright and loud so it was hard to sleep at night but that is what you get for staying in a crowded area
Good value Hard mattress, old shower
Check in was quick and easy. I love the housekeepers. Great location Bed and pillows uncomfortable
nothing really Bathroom was very small and the shower was growing mold all over it. Very gross.
The location was perfect, close to the beach. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. Nice view of the Ala Wai. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking spaces were limited and small. However, staff was willing to help park my car.
The staff was so friendly and helpful.
the location of the hotel is perfect! Centered in the heart of Waikiki, everything was within walking distance. There is a hotel resort fee, but is nice that it covered the parking fee. justin was our check in agent and his service was superb, easy to talk to and very informative. Hotel is slightly dated, a new paint job would make it look nice, better air circulation would be good. Elevators are slightly small and run slow. Elevators in the parking garage are only located on the very top floor. Makes it a small hike to get your luggage to the elevator.
Location Bathtub didn't drain well. Water would accumulate very fast. Taking a shower was a gross experience. Hand towels had stains on them.
I have gold status on SPG. I booked via KAYAK and I got a big surprise when checking in: not only my status was not recognized but I got no SPG points for my stay! Terrible! I'll never book an SPG (or Marriott etc) via KAYAK! This was NOT specified at time of booking I may have saved $15 per night but not worth it! As per the hotel, great location, nice ocean view, but the side looking toward Diamond Head is noisy due to the air conditioning tower of the adjoining building. Yes, very noisy during the night.
Staff was great but hotel itself was very aged and poorly maintained. Shower were terrible. Rooms in need of dire upgrades. Based on price was disappointed in quality
Not on beach but very central. Rooms and beds need updating.
The rooms felt more like a motel than a hotel. The only area that is decent is the lobby & the gym.
Nothing at all Everything
Overall the service was good. Like most rooms in Hawaii, the hotel needs to be updated.
The open plan of the lobby was gorgeous. The pool area was very nice and relaxed, and the beach is only a short walk away from the hotel. None.
My family enjoyed a great stay at the Sheraton. All the employees that I dealt with were amazing. A certain front desk person I believe named Andy was awesome. He remembered my name upon checkout and also saw to it that a package that I was expecting in the mail got to my room immediately upon arrival. Angie at the pool was a great server. And one day they forgot to clean our room, but after a call to the front desk someone was in our room within a few minutes to tidy the place up. All employees certainly seemed to care a great deal for people staying at the hotel.
Excellent location just across from the beach. Next door to new international marketplace. To be open this spring. Lei making staff was on the original Hawaii Five-o. Some rooms can be a little noisy. Try to stay on front or side. Partial ocean view is worth it if you get the one that overlooks the pool which also has nightly Hawaiian entertainment. History of the hotel is also a plus.
The staff was very friendly; rooms were conveniently located; good food and cocktails. Parking was easy. The false fire alarm.
I stayed for about 5 days in June 2011 with some friends - I believe we got what they called the one bedroom suite or condo. The A/C is excellent and works very well - so it's a huge plus if you're like me and not fond of the heat. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. The cleaning and maintenance staff is friendly enough, but it's nothing spectacular. The room is definitely dated (as is the rest of the hotel), and it's definitely not the cleanest, but I wouldn't call it filthy. Personally, I don't care to have my bed made or towel changed every single day - it's not like I'm sharing it with other people. Nonetheless, like others have mentioned about the Aston properties in general, cleaning is subpar. They don't do it that well. Again, unless you're a neat freak, it shouldn't be a bother. My biggest complaint were the AWFUL beds. The one in the bedroom was at least comfortable enough to fall asleep on (not that it's saying much). The sofa bed is just terrible and I hardly slept a wink on it. I also tried sleeping on the floor, which was a terrible idea. The location is AWESOME. There are tons of shops and food places within the mile radius. You will get sick of seeing those ABC stores! many of the skyrise hotels look the same, so make sure you remember your cross street. Also, the beach is only about a few blocks away. Fantastic! Near the shoreline, there are much more shops and activity going on. For a budget place, this definitely beats your standard motel. It's actually quite nice for what you pay. I enjoyed staying there, and it's nice to sit outside on the balcony and just look out. The room I stayed in didn't have an ocean view - just of the buildings and people below, but it was fine. The beach is only a few blocks away, after all.
The location is great, easy to get to everything. The full kitchen and large living area were appreciated, as it gave us plenty of space and made it easy to have breakfast in the room each day. The king bed was very comfortable. However, the sofa bed was terrible, as was the roll-away we called for to replace it. A minor problem was the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom, which meant leaving the window open. The major problem we had was with the actual room door. It didn't close properly. We had to pull/push it forcefully to make sure it closed. One day, we returned to the room to find that the door hadn't been closed by housekeeping. Nothing was taken or damaged, but it was unnerving. It probably had only been like that for a short time, as housekeeping didn't clean the room until nearly 5 pm -- very late. Overall, we'd stay here again, as the space and location were excellent for the money.
This was our first trip to Honolulu, and we got an INSANE deal on the hotel room. We had a one-bedroom suite and a two-bedroom suite, both with full kitchens, and living rooms with sofa beds. Our views were spectacular (Diamondhead Mountain from the living room; oceanfront view from bedroom). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Two block walk to Waikiki Beach. Would definitely stay there again if we get the chance.
We stayed for a week in June 2013. We had a great vacation at Waikiki, but will not recommend this hotel or ever stay here again. This hotel is definitely family friendly, but our biggest issue is that is was not that clean and front desk staff was generally rude and not helpful. New carpet was definitely needed. My son walked around barefoot in the room for a few hours, and his foot was black just from that. The room smelled musty when we immediately walked in. The smell was there the whole week. Housekeeping staff was clearly under pressure to get as much done as possible, 'cleaning a room' was about a 10 minute process which is shocking considering it is a two bedroom 'suite' with a kitchenette. (The bedrooms are super small). Second, we had issues with the front desk staff from the beginning. When checking in, they had mixed up our reservations with another party with a similar last name. We were working through it the issue and it wasn't a big deal, however, the front desk person pretended to address it, but then he didn't. We had to ask him if we upset him because he was so abrasive, and he snapped at us very rudely. No matter, we moved all our stuff between the rooms ourselves. Our other interactions with the front desk were mixed. Sometimes good, but overall they we not welcoming. We aren't high maintenance, but just want people to understand that if you book a room here, this is a 'budget-friendly' option only. There are no other benefits to staying here.
We were situated on the 31st floor and it is a nice view looking at the water. The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the beach (2.5 long blocks). The room was everything as described, clean, newish looking, free wifi... Maid service came everyday to spot clean and make the beds. There is a $15/day amenity fee charged at checkout and they do have garage parking for $15/day which I paid on checkout. AC worked great but hardly ever needed it for May weather. There is no restaurant on the premises but we found other places close by to eat and ABC stores were all over to buy groceries for snacks and what nots. Safeway and Walmart were not too far away to buy other stuff. Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The only way to make it better in my eyes would be to have the same type of room across from the beach and free parking, but that would be another Aston property... :-)
This is the fourth time that we had stayed at this hotel. We always stayed at this hotel because of the one bedroom full kitchen rooms. Its an okay hotel.
Clean hotel with full kitchen and a living room area and a sofa bed, perfect for small families. The bedroom and living room are divided for extra privacy. Three blocks from the famous Waikiki Beach.
The first appearance seemed horrible because we arrived at night and not have good lighting in the lobby and decor and carpets that need refurbishing. But the conclusion is that this very well located three blocks from the beach, the price relative to what you offer is very good. the reception and cleaning staff are excellent, very friendly. In the 6th floor has a shared pool, wifi in the room because it's just cable internet and I could not connect at any time, so we had to go to the 6th floor. on the 5th floor there is a market that sells all variety of things to eat and also rent equipment for snorkeling. The room is very comfortable, more if you go with the family because you have a double room with king bed but the mattress Staba not very good, a sofa bed in the living room and fully equipped kitchen. On each floor there is a disposition washes clothes washers and dryers coin operated. Paying or $ 10 per day resort fee you got the fee, which are growing in many hotels and you benefit from the internet service in the room is cable, movies to watch in the room through a kind of rent is in the lobby, I use a lot for the children. Parking is separate and charge $ 15 or free access per day you can come and go whenever you want but it is self parking, or good news is that this continued to the hotel very comfortable. I would go, but I hope to renew the decor a little old lady already.
We enjoyed our stay at the Aston Waikiki Sunset. Our only issues were the short twin beds and the noisy air conditioner. The separate bedroom and full kitchen were a bonus.
Watch out for the $10/night 'activity' fee. Kinda like airline bagage fees. Sneaky way to get more money out of you. The walk to the beach is two long blocks. God forbid you forgot somethng and have to walk back to the hotel. If you get ocean view - get very high room as you will be looking mostly at ugly roof tops of other buildings.
During our five night stay at the Aston Waikiki Sunset hotel, the service we experienced was extremely disappointing. We had several issues with the room, the service and the staff. We even had to wait over two hours for our room to be 'finished' so that we could check in. The hotel and room were clean, but there was construction going on a week ahead of schedule. When we booked our room, we were not warned. We were also not warned when we checked in. Had we been informed we would not have stayed here. The noise from the construction was unbearable. It was so loud at times that we could not maintain a conversation. We were not in our room much, but when we were the noise was horrible. When I spoke with the front desk they were semi rude about the situation. The gentleman I spoke with asked me 'what do you want me to do about it?' - Really?!?!? We also found a cockroach on our kitchen floor. When I called the desk about it, the gentleman said that they are common in Hawaii and there was nothing they could do. All of that on top of the fact that the walls are so thin, we could hear our 'neighbor' cough and talk (normal volume, no yelling). The room was sub-standard for a three star hotel. there was no TV in the 'master bedroom' but there was in the second room (2 bedroom suite). The 'great location' is only a couple blocks from the beach, but there are on average 10 homeless people in that short distance. I do not mean to be judgmental, but they could do a better job of keeping these people away from the area. I was approached on multiple occasions being asked for money. I will never stay here again and I would recommend that people do not stay here. If you are looking for a cheap place to sleep (where you don't mind a horrible bed and lots of noise) then by all means. Other than that, I wouldn't stay here.
The room I stayed in was excllent I loved everything about the room. The window view was beautiful looking at the diamond head.
Convenient location - great staff. I did feel that when the room was described as an ocean view it meant more than going on the balcony and looking to the right to see the view.
The hotel is very nice and convinient. The staff were all wonderful and nice...The only issue I didn't really like was the resort fee that you pay to the hotel. We had issues with the equipment we were paying the daily resort fee for. But I would reccomend the hotel
My mom and I had a recently renovated studio w/ partial ocean view. The kitchenette was well equipped. 2 very short blocks to the beach and an easy walk to a variety of dining and endless shopping.
Close to the beach, kitchenette to help defray meal costs, and friendly staff make this the hotel we keep returning to (this was our fourth stay at the Pacific Monarch.) Highly recommended!!
We had such a great experience at this hotel. We stayed here 3 nights and everything was just perfect. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The view is amazing! The rooms are small but the view makes up for that. The wall opens up floor to ceiling so you can step outside and enjoy the scenery. We had a ocean view room which means we can see the ocean of we look off to the left. But the view of the city was great! The hotel was very clean and close enough to walk to most everything you could want to do in Waikiki. It was quiet and comfortable too.
We were looking for a hotel that did not need to be on the beach, to save cost, and that had an ocean view. This hotel was about 2 blocks off of the beach. It had a great balacony with a partial ocean view, great for morning coffee and breakfast. The hotel was dated, but the rooms were newly remodeled. Our point of view is that we only eat breakfast and sleep there, so the room is not as important as the overall vacation. The room has a kitchen which is great for keeping food and drinks for the vacation and heating up some great leftovers when you need something quick before heading back to the beach. I would recommend a room on one of the upper levels in order to see around some of the towers nearby. Also, the hotel had a great Japanese restaurant downstairs with great service and prices. I would recommend the Aston chain as this is our second stay in one of their facilities and we've had a great time. I would recommend calling first to ensure that the rooms have been remodeled.
The hotel was a great value for the money, not that far from the beach and very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is on a budget or otherwise.
I had two rooms booked starting on July 2 for 6 nights, prepaid. When we arrived at the hotel at check-in time the rooms weren't ready yet. Assuming the rooms weren't clean yet we waited from 3 until about 5:30PM. They finally had one room after a couple of hours. The room was literally finishing being remodeled. We punch list things that weren't even done right. The other room for my children was on a different floor where there was only one room not under construction. We explained that this was dangerous and unacceptable. We finally got the room situation resolved where the children were located on a finished floor while my wife and I were on a floor with unfinished rooms. There was even an old toilet in our hallway. I figured they would remove it soon. But the workers quit for the holiday weekend on Friday night and the toilet remained in the hallway until the middle of the next week. During the week we had workers in and out of our room checking various different problems plus we had construction noise starting about 8AM every morning. Our door literally fell of the hinges. The hotel manager was very understanding and things were generally resolved quickly but it was one of the strangest hotel experiences I have ever had.
This hotel wasn't too bad. Considering that all we did was just come to sleep. We were constantly out on town.
The rooms are very large (like a small condo), but do need some TLC and upgrading. The location is excellent -- close to everything, and a bus stop right outside the door. The roof top is great for watching sunsets and sitting by the pool -- the hot tub is huge. If you pay for ocean view, don't get on the 8th or 9th floor -- you cannot see the ocean unless someone holds you by your feet while you are stretched out over the balcony!! There is no restaurant or bar, but plenty of that very close. If you are looking for any kind of luxury, this is not the place for you. This place is not on the beach, but close enough (2 short blocks). We would stay here again.
The location is convenient to go anywhere, close to beach also. Room is clean. I recommend this place.
Overall my experience at this hotel was very good. It was just my spouse and I so the room was just barely big enough, those traveling with family might find it a bit tight; but for the time spent in room it was good for us. Parking a bit expensive and is not run by hotel. The free DVD rental card was great, we actually watched a few movies that we wouldn't have otherwise.
Pool was nice Small rooms, old, squeaky beds and valet parking so inconvenient. Especially when have to get something from the car. Had to upgrade room just to be comfortable which was inconvenient.
free Internet service, free breakfast the room was sometimes noisy because of the boiler or something
The room, service and location were perfect for the price.
It was a very convenient hotel for going shopping at Waikiki. It is located in near from a central Waikiki. I'd like to stay here again next time I go back to Oafu.
Internet connection on the room.
close to shopping area and restaurants
clean room,good location
everything are nice, good for tourist. Internet, relax, massage, ....

The friendliness of the staff and the cleaning of the room.
Nothing Greedy wouldn't let me out of the mistake reservation
Rooms are very clean comfortable and look to have been updated. Good location near the shopping No view.
Close to everything, walking distance to lots of waikiki Noisy at night
Staff was excellent. Keola at front desk was great. Doorman Sui was OUTSTANDING and a great help! Best value in Waikiki.
Free wifi, comfy bed and pillows, toiletries available. No guaranteed early check in. Slow Computers in lobby. We tried leaving AC on while gone, but it turned off automatically leaving the room stuffy up our return.
It was close enough to places that a first timer in the city would like to visit. It is clean, wholesome and the staff are just so super nice and the rooms are big enough to accommodate a family plus the amenities are just right.Plus the rates are just so reasonable. What is there not to like?
Great location, good service package, kind staff.
convenient location, staff is always very helpful and we have a nice view from our room. We liked the fact that the hotel had laundry facilities. This was our 8th stay and we have always have had an enjoyable time
It was very conveniently located to the shops, restaurants and only 10mins walk from the beach. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful
Friendly staff, well located, good value for money The pool gets 30mins of sun every day since it:s surrounded by towers. The Hotel charges to use the safe in the room.
Great value. Great staff. Close to everything. No complaints.
Enjoyed self catering and central location
The front staff were very friendly. Everything was fine.

Perfect location - 10 min walk from the beach, very central to downtown
It was a good location and the was spacious.
Room was clean, perks like free dvd rental, and free shuttle to the mall was nice to discover. Bathroom needs to be updated. Black stains on tiles joints.
Very little and uncomfy especially when you have a wheelchair child who needs comfy to move around and be happy of its surrounding. Wish it was bigger inside they rooms..other than that it was excellent and nice to stay at...
Front desk staff was very friendly! They have an onsite free/ included dvd rental, which was just an unexpected and really nice touch for nights in. Continental breakfast was very...different, chow mein, fried rice, hard boiled eggs, pancakes, and vienna sausage. Not the best. Rooms weren't anything special, but they were clean!
I liked how it's affordable and it's only 8 min walk to Waikiki Beach. There's a lot of shops and restaurants everywhere. We saw little roaches in the hotel room microwave. Was afraid they were going to be taken home and infest my house.
Great neighborhood. Great room. Hidden fee of $15/person for mandatory breakfast. We were told we had no choice, it's mandatory and above and beyond booking price. This is an illegal activity actuall, a bait and switch tactic. We researched a bit and discovered that all the the Aloha Hotels do this - sometimes it's a mandatory breakfast charge, sometimes it's a lounge/newspaper fee. Beware!!!
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was perfect for what we wanted. Not very big but perfectly suited for my girlfriend and I who are active and like to be out exploring. Everything is very close and the view was lovely.
Great ameneties including free dvd rentals, beach towel hire, and shuttle to the shopping center. N/A
I booked this room through kayak for my 2 workers. They did not forward the booking paperwork to the hotel. The hotel only accepts booking paperwork via fax; needless to say the overseas company who answered my call does not fax to America. They can not take a photo or e-mail of the booking either. Their computers go down until 4 am. So my tired workers tried to check in at 2am, get me up to talk to an overseas company at that time, and things don't get settled until the computers turn back on at 4am... Definitely a learning and bad experience.
The front desk staff was very friendly at check-in. They gave a great welcome & explained hotel features. Check-out was quick & easy The room was very small & cramped. It looked nothing like the photos on the website. The elevator was slow, several gave up & took the stairs. There was a tiny window unit that did not work & it was stifling hot. I opened the window Louvers & the street noise was ridiculous, cars honking, people partying & yelling most of the night. I found ear plugs but could still hear the noise. Was not a pleasant night & got very little sleep. I would not stay here again. The bathtub tile was stained & dirty.
Just free dvd n gane rental n comp breakfast Room was very dusty. Bed sheets were old n gross feeling.
You can play games and unlimited movies to rent Nothing
quiet location off the main road; very clean rooms; continental breakfast included and great selection of food items; friendly staff
The rooms were clean, bright and airy, centraly located and reasonably priced.
Excellent price value, great to have a mini kitchen and a good TV. Hallways and guest room doors a bit shabby.
Our stay at the hotel was really good, great central location for the value we paid, very lively, staff were great, highly recomending this hotel
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice people. Large Lanai was good. Way too expensive for what you don't get. You can do better at many other places for cheaper. Room was older. Photos make the kitchen appear much larger but it is tiny and unusable. I was excited to stay here but sadly disappointed. At $60/night including tax it would be a fair value. Any more than that (I paid effectively $127/night) it was very disappointing.
Parking was a nightmare,
Location and price were good. There was also a complimentary wifi in the lobby which was very helpful as public internet access around the area cost about $5 per hour. Hotel pillows need changing. Most were lumpy.
The hotel staff were some on the rudest I have encountered and were very unhelpful
the staff was helpful
Centrally located. Near bus stops. Would stay here again. Window was not sealed properly and the wind whistled through the cracks all day and night.
