We were very keen to enjoy superior French food and wines and from that perspective we were most satisfied. The staff were knowledgeable and courteous, despite our poor French. We enjoyed an excellent evening and viewed a superlative wine list. There were very minor things that did not quite work properly, the cold tap in the sink didn't work but we expect and enjoy a certain level of quirkiness with French hotels and would not register that on any level of criticism. The staff and management were responsive to our requests and the atmosphere was friendly and you feel included as part of the family.
Food and friendliness beds were dreadful, no lift wasnt helpful. bar closed very early.
Good location and excellent gourmet restaurant, probably the best in the area. Certainly worth a visit. Visited during a heat wave and room had no air conditioning and no fans were available which made evenings uncomfortable. No hairdryer. Steep stairs not suitable for people with mobility problems. Not an inexpensive hotel to stay in. Better facilities in a chain (Ibis for example)
Excellent room facilities - decent size and fabulaous bathroom; it was great to have a real bath!! The prices of drinks was on the high side
Clean and spacy rooms, big parking place, good accessability from motorway. No minibar and no bar in the hotel itself.
Great modern rooms with a fantastic bathroom and shower, in a complex on the edge of town with a casino, 3 resturants and a night club, well sign posted and easy to find
Very good Hotel. All perfect.
Room, bathroom,breakfast Nothing!
Clean, patrolled carpark, good restaurants. Good value, especially if you don't sucumb to the gambling! (You pay up front for your stay!) Truly excellent breakfast. This place is unexpectedly hard to find as called Hotel Casino on booking.com's website but in reality it is called Hotel PPPasino using their logo on all signs around the town. Try putting that in a Tom Tom!
1. Very welcoming reception staff who also gave clear driving directions to a local venue. 2. Modern decor of room - particularly liked the open plan/sliding door to en-suite which gave a big feel to room whilst still being practical in forming a division for modesty No particular issues
Excellent value. Very pleasant staff
Very kind and attentive staff. Rooms are well designed and functionnal. The open bathrooms gives a luxury look. Breakfast is above average French standard breakfast.
great room, big bathroom, restaurants (4) casino and a terasse nothing
The bed was okay. The shower was terrible. And we would like to have some ham and cheese with breakfast.
Clean, well equipped, comfortable
Car was safer as the main Gate was locked at 23.00. A pass code was supplied if access was needed later.
The checking-in process for the 3 rooms we had pre-booked was very slow
Bunk bed was inadequate forolder people and had I known would have agreed to hire another room
cost bathroom too small
The staff were very friendly and the room was clean. The rooms are very spartan and the bathroom is one step up from camping.
Very small bunker-style hotel but if you;re going to a concert and sharing the room for just a night it's a decent option. Friendly personnell, and the bed was allright. Small rooms; ther's only a bed in there. Extremely small bathroom. Cigarette smoke in the air in most rooms.
Bed was very comfortable, better than any I had experienced in this type of hotel. Very noisy. Every sound could be heard at night from other rooms. Not as close to the town as described on the internet.Campanile hotel next door where we had a disgusting meal..( part of the same group)
staff it was difficult to find, directions from the main routes would have been good
Staff friendly, new interior
Breakfast had to taken by 9.00
The staff was most attentive, friendly and caring. It's little details only but I liked that they remembered my name when I came for dinner and really had the well-being of their guests at heart. The rooms had recently been refurbished and were quite comfortable. A nice little hotel, would use it again. The food was not great French cuisine but it was tasty, well presented and the choice was good.
Accomodation was ok as awaited
A refurbed hotel, so one of the new style Campaniles, with a wicked shower room and demisting mirror. To be honest, it was a great place to stay.
staff and food excellent, easy acsess to motorway. Will be using again as overnight transit stop.
If possible I always choose Campanile Hotels. Things are not complicated there and the staff is friendly and helpfull. My colleages complained about the lack of shampoo in the bathroom.
Clean and bright with friendly staff and surprisingly good food in the restaurant. In a very commercial part of town, just off a roundabout on an business park/industrial estate type area. Not noisy at all, but not picturesque by any means.
Used contact lenses on the floor.
The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. Very important point for me.
breakfast. quiet room. secure parking smelly curtains. tv not working
The staff were great. Very helpful and friendly.
Helpful staff, comfortable room,... There was no soap in the bathroom! Not at all helpful for washing hands. There were sachets of shower gel, but soap is rather more essential. The doors also closed quite noisily, and sometimes had to be pulled hard to shut - not great for a good night's sleep.
calm, cleanliness, comfort no restauration service on sunday
Very clean and comfortable hotel in a great location to explore the Ch'ti region. Highly recommend visiting the Centre Historique Minier in Lewarde and the Muss Matisse in Le Cateau-Cambresis.
The staff and management were wonderful. Breakfast also very good.Good private parking arrangement Difficult to find. Would have liked a mirror in the bedroom
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable.
We found direction signs in Douai absolutely awful - it took us an 1 hour to find the hotel
leaving Every staff member left the hotel at about 7.30pm and we were scared as we had a very bad man harass us out side the hotel, who could have helped us if he wanted to come into the hotel? Therefore, no maintenance, no security, no drinks, no meals, no nothing was available.
Price was good for time of year i,e, tdf Room smelt of smoke not much Tea and coffee stuff in room and No Euorsport on the tv
Good car park. Friendly welcome.Clean and tidy. Very comfortable bed. No evening meal available.En suite a bit small.Although daytime cafe open no draught beer. Although we did not use the terrace - it was across a main road and beside a barge mooring so views of the river would be obscurred. Not quite as good as the video shows.
Clean room, secure parking and friendly staff Bed was a bit hard
Clean, comfortable and helpful staff.
The structure of the room and the cleanliness, the fact that they gave the room before 03;pm
Hotel staff was always polite, and trying to assist for an enjoyable stay.
The Hotel location was good, the staff were very helpful and could answer every question i asked, The private car park was difficult to use therefore i found myself using the street parking and continually have to buy parking tickets.
Staff were helpful. Restaurant was good, good service.
We liked the ambiance and the friendliness of the staff. The Front Desk and Restaurant staff wre very helpful and provided good service.
a very old house.. everything old.. but.. but.. exceptional friendly stuff..
I appreciate good service and good location of the hotel; i.e. it was ideal for a business trip.
Location (100 m from TGV station).Price. Room size. Decoration (old style). Noise when the next room is being cleaned at 8 am
Staff was excellent. Comfort room I booked was just refurbished. Other than the smell of new paint, very comfortable
The diner was really bad. The menu looks ok, but the way prepared does not even look or taste like food. Me and my wife both ordered diffirent plates, but both where not tasty.
It was basic but clean and served its purpose. It was good there was a restaurant on site for an evening meal and breakfast. I booked this hotel because it said there were triple rooms and an extra bed could be added. I booked 3 triple rooms and 3 extra beds for 12 of us however this hotel does not offer this anymore. Luckily we had travel cots for the children to sleep in.
Pretty good value for money, good location and easy to find. Both bedroom and bathroom was clean and comfortable. Could do with some refurbishment. Pleasant staff but they could smile a little more...it makes such a difference...and costs nothing. (Just a constructive comment)
Fair enough for one night But it had that 'truckers stop' atmosphere
Very close to the motorway, the inhouse restaurant is also very convenient. Breakfast is ok. no minibar facilities
Very central when you travel to South of France and come from Scandinavien. Relatively easy to find and cheap As told I only miss a complete adress to the GPS in my car
Ease of access from Motorway. General attitude of staff. Limited menu for evening meal.
Bathroom ceiling and walls were almost completely covered with black mold, even in the guestroom there was mold on the wall next to the window. Towls and bed cloth were sticky from moisture. Bathroom lamp was not working properly even I asked to replace it the evening before. Receptionist did not speak English or any other European language.
Breakfast was good value Cleanliness could be improved
Good food and bedding Sweeming pool was one of the reason for choosing this hotel, but it was not open during our stay (broken), next time need to verify it with hotel during a reseravtion.
Good basic hotel and service was pleasent ! The location was not the best.
Good location for the traveller on the road (1-night stopover) in vicinity of autoroute. Clean & spacious room although mentioned as having airco in room, it is a central system that can't be adjusted from the room. it is not sufficient to cool the room at all during summer.
good spot, very close to highway so excellent for one night break, breakfast was good.
The hotel is very well located being next to the main Paris-Bruxelles A2 highway. I had an excellent lunch at their restaurant. No complaints
The bed and the pillow was not comfortable , too soft - the room was stuffy as there was no airconditioning working - in the morning, check out was manned by only one person with a queue of business people
The hotel appears to be relatively new and everything is clean and streamlined. The receptionist was welcoming. 1. The address booking.com gives on the website is not the address required for the SatNav. I would strongly recommend that you accommodate this not unusual situation on your website and reservation confirmations, I.E. give the formal (mailing) address and the actual street address. In the case of this hotel, not even the city is correct. The hotel is actually in Rouvignes, not Valenciennes. I found a sign for the "Aérodrome" in the city, followed it, but then the signs ran out. I rang the hotel and the receptionist gave me the correct address. This situation adds unnecessary stress to business travel. The receptionist told me I should have referred to the Novotel website, but then I don't need to book via booking.com...
the quiet room and friendly staff
Very helpful and nice stuff, all english speaking.
Location, close to the railway station, clean redecorated rooms and bathrooms. A little bit to small windows (especially at fifth floor) and poor light i the rom (just the spotlights). Lack of WIFI in the rooms - only in the public area.
Hotel is excellently placed for the station, town centre and bus/tram routes. The hotel staff were pleasant and were happy to help with enquiries as best they could with the language difference. I was more than happy with the hotel.
There was a water boiler with tea and coffee pulvers on the table in the room. Very nice idea! The hotel is well situated, the staff is very friendly (and speaks English), the breakfast is fine. I would recommend that hotel to my friends. :-) The water boiler was not very clean; There was no price list for the buffet-things in the room; It always lasted some time before the lights in the corridor with the lift got switched on; But these are small things. Everything else was perfect.
Convenience to the station and helpful friendly staff. Nice "homey" touches around the Puss in boots theme. Good breakfast. My room smelt of the drains .....! Also the sensor lights did not come on on 4th Floor unless you madly waved at the sensor - there was no night light ( safety issue) so I was plunged into darkness once the lift doors closed.
The theme of the hotel (Puss in Boots) was fun. We had a great view of the station forecourt (doesn't sound exciting but it was interesting). The town looked worth visiting. We got a much lower rate by booking online, about 2/3 of normal cost; this was a good value hotel. Car parking was a short distacne away. We were lucky as the weather was fine so it wasn't a problem for us.
Very comfortable stay. Attentive staff and good location for our purposes.
The hotel was in excellent decorative order throughout and the staff were very friendly. The facilities in the room were excellent. No air conditioning.
Good location and free bike loan and secure car parking a real bonus. Room Ok but as youll be out and about, it doesnt really matter. Quaint shower, but not unusual in some hotels.
It was conveniently situated for the purpose we had in mind that weekend
The personnel were very helpful. The staff were great in providing directions to tourist sites. The bathrooms are very modern & easy to use especially the shower. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast provided is a good value & very good. The downside was the reservation process. We had to change our datesby one day & the internet booking process makes that very difficult. I did call the hotel directly but on our arrival, we only could be assured of 2 nights instead of the 3 nights requested. We made reservations elswhere only to be told that there was a room available. My other suggestion would be to do something about the carpeting. In our room the carpeting was stained near the window & just didn't feel clean as there were other spots.
Hotel fine, but we only stayed one night and ate out so didn't see all of it. Would have been useful to know that car park is down side road and no access from main hotel entrance.
Pleasent decor and friendly staff Although it was sunday I was surprised that food was not available..
The staff were very friendly. The tv was only in french. No ac. No mini bar. Rooms to small. Needs modinising.
No evening meals on sunday's
very quite hotel, good price performance ratio lot of stairs
Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quiet at night. Wish we could have had non-smoking rooms.
Very nice atmosphere, with helpfull relaxed staff, we had several laptops along and a extra free wifi card wasn't a problem.
Beautiful setting, near the Basilica Notre Dame, with a short walk into town, where you find the delightful town square with it's many shops and cafe's.All of which are beautifully clean and very friendly service.
The Hotel staff were very helpful
Good value for money, ideally situated in a quiet street in the town centre. The room was basic but comfortable. Excellent continental breakfast, with a good choice of fresh bread, pastries and fruit. Lots of good quality shops in an almost fully pedestrianised town centre which was spotlessly clean No offstreet parking available, nearby streets are subject of control by hourly payment during working hours.
efficient friendly staff
Poor value for money, should have included breakfast in the price.
Hotel was very dated in it's decor, apart from the bathroom which appeared to be quite new, the fifth bed in the room was a very basic camp bed, which fortunately we didn't need. The only real complaint, which has nothing to do with the hotel itself, was the immense noise from outside, we faced the Notre Dame church, and until about 2am there seemed to be motorbikes tearing around the streets, then from very early in the morning was what sounded like heavy traffic, including large lorries, since the roads are very narrow, I can only think that the sound was ecacerbated by the tall buildings. The staff were friendly and helpful.
useful local information provided by friendly staff
Charming hotel full of character - great way to immerse yourself in the middle of Valenciennes
We enjoyed the location but were very disappointed as we were kept awake 3 of the 4 nights by very noisy clients. This we know is not your fault as you do ask for quiet after 10 pm. We were kept awake until 3 am. I have already listed this above
It was functional and efficient and was in the right location for the Tour de France Stage 3 which was our main objectie. It was noisy during the night.
Good water pressure in shower Unable to set window for secure ventalation
Very simple breakfast - but not included in a room price. Staff speaking no English, Problem with vat Invoice - finally issued but big bother, Dirty, auful rooms, not safe area, Room would be a collate a prison-bed with camping trial. Stay away from this site!
Very reasonable price Smell of cigarettes on entering room, heater appeared to have no controls. Certain items in shower room broken.
Toilet/shower very small, shower leaked from the handle. No tea/coffee making facilities, as stated in your brochure. Room smelt of smoke, although it was a non smoking room. Walls very thin, so we could here everybody else shouting around.
The location was good, fairly just off the motorway with a lots of places for food just close by. I think it should be called a motel rather than a hotel.
Breakfast not bad Room dark paint peeling off ceiling, bathroom clean but tiny++++ feels like sleeping in a porta cabin would not recommend also room smelt of smoke
