Informal, good quality
The charming and helpful team in a hotel with very high standards of comfort and cleanliness. The location is good in a small market town with easy access to autobahn system. The restaurant food is of a high standard
Very clean, comfortable & good facilities. Food great & staff very helpful & considerate.
Clean room, kind receptionist, helpful staff, wifi. Restaurant/bar was not available upon arrival (sunday evening), no minibar. Room was noisy in the morning (traffic, train)
very friendly staff and great food, would most definitely reccomend it
Very helpfull and freindly staff, food in the restaurant was of excellent quality and value for money. Very well decorated for the christmas season. I would recommended this hotel to anyone staying in the area . we are already looking foward to going back next year.
friendly staff, very cosy
Friendly staff, great value for money
clean, excellent food and owners were helpfull as usual, superb menu.
The very plush surroundings. Extremely good value for money
A very nice welcoming hotel with an excellent restaurant Restaurant closed on Sundays
location extremely small rooms
professional staff. nice young people. restaurants prices.it was too expansive related to quality of the food. rooms are getting older....
The hotel staff were very efficient and very friendly. The restaurant (Sunday's) was excellent. No coffee making facilities in the room.
Everything about the hotel is excellent. Style, modern rooms, great location, less than 5 minutes from the motorway, great food and wines, fantastic breakfast, etc. etc. The only slight downside is being right by the trackside of a functioning railway. Trains do rumble by from 04:30, so if you're a light sleeper, this may not be for you (they're only every 45 minutes or so until around 07:00 though). Lovely people, lovely location. Very nice, and would highly recommend
Interestingly designed, the hotel was comfortable and relaxing to stay in. The landlady was keen to ensure our needs were fully met, even down to the personal touch of including a few toys in our room to ensure our little boy's immediate impression of his new "home-from-home" was a good one. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area, although be warned that trains do still pass through the station and some noise, though not intrusive can be heard. A lift would be a welcome addition.
This is a wonderful small family run hotel.Beautifully decorated, very clean and with lots of nice touches and extras-eg-fresh flowers in room and corridors(and even in the menu cabinet outside).Good restaurant and atmosphere, nice breakfast, very helpful staff and excellent value for money. The only drawback-some people might not like the noise of trains passing nearby-but it is after all,a converted railway station.Incidentally, the railway theme has been cleverly incorporated into the design and decor.A great little hotel.
The restaurant is fantastic! Kudos to the chef. Also, the design, utilizing details of a converted train station, is clever and elegant. The hotel was spotless, and the setting (complete with beautiful terrace, overlooking a lovely park AND active -but not noisy, due to excellent construction- train tracks!) was both idyllic and interesting. Staff/owners were delightful, too. Cannot reccomend this place highly enough! Great for train bufs! Also, although we didn't have our bicycles, this hotel is perfect for biking/hiking, too - right on the path, and with trains and a busstop literally at the door. We hope to return! It did not bother us, but due to the old train station architecture, the rooms are a little small. However, the renovation has ben expertly done, so all rooms and spaces are well-designed, using high-quality materials, and kept sparkling clean.
Great location: arrival by car just off the motorway, by train just at the back door, by cycle, I guess even on foot. Beautiful countryside in the area. Great atmosphere: something different a railway-station-turned-hotel with railway station elements in the decor. Friendly staff, relaxed check-in and check-out, nice table-served German breakfast, flexibility regarding dietary requests. Something special and good price-quality. The rooms were compact, but well designed, even though small (we had one of the double rooms). When we visited (July 2010) it was extremely hot, so without airconditioning we kept the windows open for air and then the freight trains at night can wake you up every now and then. However, with the windows closed, we're sure that would not be much of a problem (maybe you would still feel the vibrations, but not hear the sound).
The staff was very helpful in ordering a taxi for the following morning and for lending an alarm clock. English was spoken which made communication easier. The restaurant was good. There was no staff at 11:30 am when I arrived. They did not open until 3pm so I could not book in earlier. There was no staff on over night. I think there may have been staff earlier in the day and they may have closed for a period of the day. I would reccommend the hotel with the quailfying statement that they are closed for part of the time.
Warm welcome. Very spacious rooms well equiped. Great value. Internet did not work in my room, but worked fine in main building.
Thought the room was fantastic, although small bathroom and small bath. Location was excellent for Munster Airport. Would hesitate in staying there again! None
Located close to motorway, good kitchen, parking
Exceptionally good. good welcome and very good food.Would highly recommend this hotel to people if they need a stopping point on-route to northern Germany.
The weather and dining outside No
Very nice and welcoming (English speaking) staff, spacious and clean room, seemed newly renovated, tastefully decorated, excellent German food at a very modest price and a good selection of draught beers. Close to the Autobahn (A1) - which was convenient - but located in a very nice and peaceful town. Nothing really.
the hotel was ideally placed for Munster Airport. very comfortable and friendly. The restaurant served an excellent dinner. would recommend it.
Very helpful owner Food and bar service was officially finished very early. No telephone in bedroom. Average breakfast by German standards given product quality.
Easy parking, very close to city and work, nice river view, quiet and peaceful. might need air conditioning in hot summer
Impression at check in. View on river Ems. The minibar was deliberately empty and switched off. Staff refused to fill it or even to switch it on because of "bad experience with some guests abusing it".
Little touches like a small yellow plastic duck in the shower tray and glow in the dark stars on the ceiling above the bed. Welcoming reception staff with useful guidance. Free WiFi if hotel booked through internet. Beautiful location over looking the Rheine. Nothing
Easy booking nice breakfast Too cold in the room, no english translation about loundry, I didnt have duck under the shower, bed a bit too smal and blanket too short u have to pay for Wi - fi
Great rooms with excellent equipment. Very clean, good breakfast, good location. Very quiet loaction.
view on the river with waterfall and lock from the hotel room; excellent breakfast
Personel atmosphere is super.
Nice location in countryside. Friendly staff. Beautiful building. Excellent food.
This was not a good choice of hotel for an overnight stop between UK and North Germany. The room, although large and clean was rather 'guest house' in style with effort going on knick knacks rather than bed and sheets (polyester?), and the restaurant was geared to local clientele and tastes and was slow and poor, just what one does not need after a long drive - an 'off night', perhaps.
Very friendly, great food, superb value, free parking, free internet
Easily walk to many restaurants. Good breakfast. I arrived on Sunday late morning to find out that the hotel lobby was closed till 4pm ! Very annoying, after a long flight & drive. 'booking.com' should have asked me when I was checking in and made sure there was a staff at hotel when I arrived. Also, only one staff could speak in english
The staff was pleasant, accomodating, and willing to help with concerns.
Had booked a double room with an extra bed but it was not available at check-in. But got a double and a single at the same rate instead which was nice. Very clean and new looking. Walking distance from the Rheine station. Stayed for one night and quite satisfied. Bring your own toiletries. Trouble communicating in english with the staff but they were very accommodating and nice.
service pleasant and good No
The location The lack of internet access, they did offer wireless but this was down or I was unable to connect.
nothing The heating was switched of during the night and the room was very cold
I had a wonderfull time in Rheine mainly because of the kindness of the personell from Altstadt and also due to the good services that they provide. Excellent breakfast.
size of room should close the main hotel door every time you go out or in
Situated in a nice area. Nice view from our room. Kind owner and staff. One of the beds were about to fall apart. It was repaired. There was a television present but it did nog work. The owner (?) tried to fix it but after a while again no signal. Our room was situated in an annex. On our way to and from annex from and to hotel we had to pass a lot of / some mud.
The view from the room was spectacular, and the general first impression was of a luxury room. The shower was more like the transporter unit of the Star Ship Enterprise, excellent luxury. There is no clear reception area for the hotel, and the place seemed deserted when we arrived; we had to call for the staff to appear. Some of the blinds were jammed, and half of the curtains were missing, so that we couldn't shut off the bedroom from the view of the restaurant terrace or the house next door when we wanted to change for bed. The place seemed shabby; in need of a few minor improvements.
Nice hotel, very good standard. The restaurant had very good food and a great breakfast. Close to nature and the walkingpaths, a bit outside the citycentre.
Great hotel and restaurant in the countryside just 10 minutes from the Autobahn to France.
