I think the hotel is located in the best area along the wine route. I wouldnt hesitate to stay in Ruffach again on my next journey to the alsace region. everything is very typical french. Dont expect anything to be new refurbished and when it is (as the spa) dont expect it to be european or american standard. After all - this is france!
the location, the view, the park, the silence, exterior swimming pool 1. breakfast very expensive, middle quality, bad service, no refill, staff was preparing the tables for supper with a lot of noise during the breakfast 2. The exterior of "Pavillon Nantilde" (backside) is not clean and a bit "slumlike", does not fit to the image of "chateau"
Excellent location and views. Outdoor pool very refreshing! Aircon in annex was a mobile unit and so a little noisy.
the heated pool sparsely furnished room and very dated decor, not what I would expect from a 4/5 star hotel
Beautiful chateau, great view and a genuine feel to it. Nice pool and sauna. Friendly reception staff and grand rooms. They even upgraded our room because of a late drop-out. The jacuzzi was not working.
Stayed on our way back from Switzerland - food superb, and room was slightly shabby chic, but clean and comfortable, good views from our room
location & pool
Everything, top class.Enormous room, with a door leading straight on to the garden, enormous bed, well stocked mini bar, bathrobes.Excellent restaurant food was reasonably price cosidering the quality. The town(Rouffach) was shabby.
The premises are wonderful and staff is very attentive
Great family room, good pool and excellent food Breakfast was expensive - we walked 5 mins into town and went to a local cafe / patisserie instead
Staff excellent, attentive and helpful. Personified by Alain Rosenzuey.
Room was large, bed comfortable. Excellent restaurant attached with good selection of wines. Good English spoken. Bathroom basic but perfectly adequate. Somewhat quaint, largely wooden interior design gave the room a slight 'Tyrolean' feel. Our room was above the kitchens and there was some general noise from equipment operating there, but fortunately not later in the evening though. Some families with children were a bit noisy in the morning. All in all we felt it was a touch expensive for what it was.
silence, location , the park with river near the hotel , good breakfast we take 2 rooms , 1 room was perfect and the other room the cleanroom put a wool blanket and at night it was cold outside and i asked a heavy blanket , i asked from the reception and they brought to me a one blanket without sheet cover on it ' the next day i asked from the reception to change the blanket and it didn't happended . only the last day the cleanroom brought the couple blanket after i asked from her personally.
Excellent staff in restaurant and lobby. Despite some staff had problems to speek English they were able to call colleagues that were fluent in English. I also like large room and sitting corner in the room + large bathroom+ extra towels for spa packed in a nice bag. The corners around the bath were full of black mildew ( I assume due to wet environment and insufficient cleaning). Information leaflets in the room were in French and English version was missing.
The welcome was very good, the hotel and room were very well appointed and the food was excellent
If you book a room in this hotel, do not eat in town, but stay in the hotel ! The chef prepares a great diner, menu or a la carte.
The hotel was beautiful, the staff was friendly, the resturaunt was wonderful!
nice hotel, nice location, nice ambience It was mentioned that the hotel would have a fitness room. The small room was located at the swimming pool area and the room also contained the sauna !! Obviously non of the equiment was maintained for years and half of the maschinery was not useable at all. So not usable at all.
Good hotel and fascilities, but rooms a bit run down. Nice bar with friendly staff. Breakfast not great rooms run down a bit, breakfast not great
The hotel is idealy situated, with good private parking right in the centre of Gerardmer. The rooms were spacious and quiet. The breakfast varied and plentiful, the service excellent. A very enjoyable break.
Relaxing, clean None
Lovely Hotel, all the facilities we wanted. Very hot when we were there and no aircon or fans. Quite uncomfortable sleeping.
friendly helpfull staff looked like 5 star when we arrived heated outdoor pool very nice with bar reasonable prices.right in town by bars and restaurants but still quiet at night. seperate w.c. but extractor fan not sufficient so we had toilet smells in the room
Excellent hotel, superior room is beautiful. Nice village, hotel is near the lake Gerardmer. Worth more then 3 stars in our opinion. Owner was very interested in our opinion. Breakfastconcept is ridiculous, standard price is €16,- supplement of €8,- when you want eggs for breakfast. Better have breakfast at a local terrace for €6,-.....
The location was excellent. Parking was available which was a huge bonus! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A great visit!
The hotel is in a very nice setting, right by the lake and within reach of the Vosges mountains and beautiful villages like Colmar and Riquewihr. The hotel did not have air conditioning and it was too hot to sleep in the rooms. We couldn't open windows because of the noise outside. We booked a table in the restaurant on the Sunday night after choosing a menu which was displayed. When we arrived, again, the temperature in the restaurant was unbearable and we were told that there was only a buffet. We left, as we wanted waiter service and then had trouble finding a restaurant which was open.Such a shame, our stay could have been so nice.
Friendly staff, good facilities. I came to the Vogezen to climb the Ballons on my bike. The breakfast provided a solid basis for these trips and the spa was a great way to relax after the trip.
very nice hotel , friendly staff
very friendly staff, clean rooms and good beds
Very friendly staff, excellent service, good restaurant
Hotel room was very nice and had a very nice fresh smell everytime I walked in at the end of the day. The staff where very frendly and helpfull. We where told we could have breakfast and dinner at the hotel everynight for around 48 euros. I made it clear to the women sayin is that 48 euros for the whole week we are staying and I said that 3 times and she said yes for the whole week. Me and my friend thought happy days thats a bargin and at the end of our stay we got hit with a bill of 500 euros for both of us and that was for 5 nites stay with breakfast and dinner while we where told it only cost 48 euros for the week which makes it 96 euros for me and my friend, I regret paying it know because we got absolutly robed. When have you ever heard of such a ridiculous price of 500 euors for food for 2 people you would think we would be staying for a month.
perfect stay! the hotel is very nice, comfortable and clean room, new fresh bathroom. Good breakfast.Internet available.I advice it to everybody! everything was perfect!
Free wireless internet, very reliable. Ideal if you want to experience the mountains. Located on main road, so very noisy if you had to leave the window open for ventilation as we did. Too hot otherwise because of heatwave. This hotel would be excellent for a winter ski break, but not ideal for exploration of the major towns of the lower Alsace.
close to the slopes (10 min by car), nice and fairly clean room. Go visit Le musee de mille et une racines in Cornimont :-)) It's unique! the staff was not particularly friendly ... if u want to use the sauna, don't forget to book it
Location of this hotel is very good. It is too expensive and the heating system is very poor.
The staff is very helpful and nice. When choosing the type of room we want, I was attracted by the description in booking website that this room is "more spacious than the standard room". In fact, this room should be described as a "family room" with a semi-separate smaller room of two twin beds. So, since we are a couple without children, the extra room/space does not give us any real benefit.
super nice personal, good location, beautiful hotel - everything was just perfect! ;))) we liked everything very much :)
Friendly, helpful English speaking staff. Good breakfast.
Owners were very pleasant. Hotel is currently being refurbished which meant not all facilties were available. Standard of rooms was good. Lack of facilities (see above).
Ideal location near to bars and restaurants. Very clean hotel, large rooms and good value. Breakfast quite expensive but room reasonably priced.
Staff pleasant and helpful Bar + computer access shuts at 9.30pm
Very dark and un-welcoming room, although comfortable. Hotel lacked any character and breakfast was a bit disappointing in the variety of food available.
Friendly staff/owners ; nice, honest breakfast although some fresh fruit would have been nice ; some rooms are still to be refurbished/renovated, which is also planned. Due to renovation, the bar was closed. (But Rome was not built in one day either)
It was very close to the race I was taking part in and the manager arranged to have breakfast at 6:15 on race day instead of the normal 8-10am which was greatly appreciated. The shower head holder was loose which meant you had to hold the shower head when having a shower. The decor was a little outdated and the carpet on the walls is pretty novel.
The swimmingpool and the emplacement, next to the Lac and near the city. I made the reservervation for one big bed, and there were two smoller. The personnel from the hotel, the recepcionists was all the time rude. All the rest OK.
Safe parking There was working going on. The Hotel lighting could have been better. Had a hard time finding it.
The Location The hotel manageress was a bit curt, to the point of rudeness. Not far off being like Basil Fawlty.
Reception staff not particularly friendly
Breakfast and main hotel good, staff helpful, garage security good annexe bit basic but functual, bar not allowed to serve drinks and restaurant now closed.
Hotel very well located and friendly staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Very pleasant hotel.
The room was excellent value, clean, exactly what i expected, and a good location. If i was confident of arriving before the close of reception i would use this hotel again. I arrived 2 minutes after reception closed at 9:00 and the hotel was in darkness. Fortunately the receptionist was still in the car park and directed me to the location of the key and room details (in another building, also in total darkness, i neverwould have found it by myself), so i would not recommend this hotel unless you are confident of arriving while reception was open. The curtains in the room were very thin which was nice because it meant you could look through them and see an impressive view. It also meant that anyone looking in from outside when the lights were on and the curtains were on can see into the room from the road outside the hotel.
the owners are very friendly and discret, i would definitely stay there again on my prochain trip, and they speak english very well
Very nice hotel, comfortable, very nice staff and good breakfast. Have eaten in the brasserie, very good food. Nothing
leisure facilities the room
Cheap Plug in bathroom sink didn't work. Bad smell of corridors
Quiet, clean (but even if clean dust lays on very fast), the breakfast is very copious
Spa, swimming pool and sauna. Great location. Most of the staff is really nice only one or two people aren't very pleasant.
Loved that the 2 restaurants were very nice and close to the hotel Best restaurant was grossly understaffed on the friday night we ate there. one waiter for 8 tables so service was unbearably slow. Food was excellent. Hotel pool was empty our first night there (and the pool was the main reason we chose to stay there w children!) then the next day the water was too cold to swim. Frustrating.
Excellent food, pleasant staff and good localtion close to ferry ports and tunnel
The staff was very kind. The bathroom not to comfortable, and the washbasin is in the room.
Very friendly and cosy property standard rooms are not very comfortable, upgraded rooms are quite nice - however the price is very fair even for standard rooms.
nearby restaurants : a cheap simple and an expensive one a mini-bar in the room would have been a nice additional luxury
Cleanliness of room and excellent food! The village itself was disappointing.
The staff, the cleanliness and the rooms; the size of the rooms
We did not like the location - it is situated in a small industrial area between Guebwiller and the next town.
Wonderful staff and good facility The rooms are small when traveling with young children. Perfect for a single or couple but very small if you have kids.
Beautifully stylish hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff ware very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good and the bar was very nice. The fitness was brand new and the swimming pool was nice. A refreshing place in the Vosges. At our stay, the spa was malfunctioning and wifi was in repair.
The location is very nice and the rooms were swish & in good condition, but small. Food for two adults could easily cost more than the room rate for a night. They charge additionally for everything including Breakfast and access to the Sauna and Spa. The staff were inconsistent with some very nice and some very angry people.
Excellent food and staff.
Very enjoyable surroundings, very nice pool, much above the usual hotel standard, good food Price for the 4 person room much too expensive, service at the restaurant a bit slow, especially with young childfre
Staff were without exception excellent and the dinner we had was both very good and very good value
very good food / value for money at restaurant
cleanliness of hotel service in restaurant
Clean, comfortable room. Nicely furnished. Friendly and efficient staff.
Situation is very good because at walking distance of the center of Gerardmer. Good value for your money.
good room. very conveniant. quiet you need french
Great value for money! Great Breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hotel is located on a noisy street. not what you expect in a holiday (mountain) resort.
The staff and the restaurant. "Wifi" was nice. One thing I always miss from my culture (U.S.) is full showers that hang from the wall. I realize that this is not common throughout the world. Interesting locks.
wellness closed at 8PM - way too early for business people - Hotel charges 10 pp to use wellness - swimming pool was dirty and not accessible
Ate in restaurant one night out of five. Fixed. Really good meal and excellent service, in contrast with the rest of the hotel. Menu, at 39 euros was expensive compared with prices in other local restaurants. Had a superior room booked which was a very small room at the rear of the building. Was told that we would have to pay an additional 30 euros per night for a better room. There was a bit of an atmosphere with the Staff - a lot of falling out. The building is really lovely but it is looking a bit tired and dusty inside.
Great restaurant, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful rooms, a little off the beaten track and therefore what i'd call a hidden gem.
Nice building but hotel staff is not friendly When you open your window (there is no airco in the room), it is so noisy that you can't sleep (traffic, trucks + rails ways in front) reduce your enjoy to zero...
Hotel accomodation and food Breakfast started at 7AM. Too late for me.
The personnel was very nice and proffessional.Comfortable and clean. we loved the breakfast buffet.
Lovely furnishings, beautiful chandeliers. Great restaurant with a wonderful chef, good choice of food. Swimming pool was lovely. Thann is a lovely litttle town with an excellent brand new supermarket only 10 minutes (max) away by car. Very convenient for visiting Alsace/Switzerland & Germany The morning we left we had breakfast at 7.30 as breakfast started and there was only one member of staff on duty to attend to reception and the breakfast room.
Very cosy and special - really a little castle
Truly in a park land setting which is a welcome sight to drive through to the ample parking areavat the backnofvthe hotel. Lovely old house with period furniture very comfortable nice size room with adequate facilities (although the floor in our room creaked a lot!) restaurant with high standard cuisine. Will definitely return. Creaky floor did disturb our sleep.
The location overlooking the lake was good. The terrace and lounge areas were very well done, comfortable with a great view. The buffet breakfast was overpriced at 20 Euro per person. We would not expect a luxury hotel to run out of bread at breakfast. Only 3 or 4 tables were taken at breakfast and food was not replenished as it ran out.
This hotel is very nice. The furnishing and decor is attractive. Mr. Valentin (proprietor) takes care of his guests and makes them feel very welcomed. We were there for the StrongmanRun, and he opened his kitchen for us on Sunday night (usually closed for dinner on Sunday). The meal was delicious, and he paired it with a wonderful wine...nice. Thank you, Mr. Valentin. The bed was too firm.
Good breakfast. Clean and comfortable room. Bathroom ventilation either not working or inadequate. Water from shower spread over floor outside shower cubicle. Design problem?
The receptions staff was wondeful, friendly and positive Mattress is a slice of foam. A bit tought on old bones.
Good quality restaurant rooms were not ready ( not clean) at our arrival (around 14h15)
Clean, comfortable, nice staff. Dinner was okay. Beds were uncomfortable, a big piece of foam
Service of Rection staff was excellent Moved to smoking room which turned out to be disabled room, shower did not work properly.
