9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good view of castle from this particular room - others were not quite so good. Great location in centre of town but very quiet. Large room with large comfortable bed and a settee and dining table. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: The kitchen was poorly stocked for cooking, but this was quickly resolved when we asked for more utensils. Not all rooms are accessible - only one of the three staircases had a lift. Check if this is important to you.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a great accommodation with family . Rooms are big well heated , Great location, Clean and bathroom toilet on the second floor looks like a mammoth.
Cons: Toilet on the ground floor with no/poor exhaust . No bathroom on ground floor WiFi excellent but cannot do WhatsApp call and no game play.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent view, staff and breakfast. For sure we will come here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have a nice two room and a kitchen, a balcony with a nice view to the city roodtops and houses and with a view of the castle on the mountain. Very quiet and comfy. Very kind staff. A free of charge parking to park a car just in front of the Apart Hotel. Bikes to rent you may like if you're tired of walking the streets of Werniegerode (but you won't since you will sit and enjoy a beer and the food anywhere :)). Nice breakfast in a nice German style restaurant. Close to the down-town (just go out of the yard to the main street) with shops and cafes) that leads you to the market place in a minute or two. Many small restaurants and nice cafes to sit and have coffee and cakes). If you're tired you can easily get back to the Apart Hotel. The hotel is really nice to stay in for a few days with a family and/friend(s) if you're not in a hurry to nowhere.
Cons: Staff once forgot to bring in the shampoo. However, the owner (Mario) immediately brought in quite enough. We find it hard to find.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Central location just off the main pedestrian street. Excellent breakfast buffet
Cons: The kitchenette was a very low-powered two ring stove top which took ages to cook anything and a very small microwave. This limited the type of meal that could be prepared. There are however many restaurants around the town centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is simply put perfect. The main street of the city right through a doorway and a cozy quiet courtyard with parking below the rooms. Several of the rooms have a view of the castle which is pretty impressive especially at night. The very so friendly and did absolutely everything to make sure we had a great stay. The rooms were very clean - the hotel in general was tightly kept. We will certainly be recommending the hotel to everyone we know.
Cons: A few of the employees were not the best English speakers which can make it a bit tricky if you don’t speak English - to be fair though that is nitpicking considering everything else.
7.5 Good
Pros: View of castle from bedroom. Receptionist Hans gave me a bottle of beer. Many thanks, Hans. Hotel is in a quiet location, but not far from the town centre.
Cons: Missed croissants for breakfast. Eggs were runny - no hard boiled ones.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and very friendly staff. Nice views, too. It was only a short walk to the train station for a ride up the Brochen on a steam engine. An adult ticket was euro 45 but worth it, we felt.
Cons: Not hotel related but I bought a discount book for euro 22 which offered discounts to local attractions and free bus travel, etc. Our savings over the four days was euro 1.5!! You really need to be there for a year or season to make the discount book economical.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived later in the evening after the main reception had closed so we used the phone provided to call the hotel - they could not have been more helpful and they made us very welcome. Breakfast was excellent, good choice. Location fantastic - it's a beautiful town anyway, but this was on one of the main pedestrianised streets, so was very quiet even though it was central. Rooms were spotlessly clean and they came in each day to change towels (if required) and tidy the beds. Our spoken German was very poor but they were patient and we didn't have any problems with being understood. The receptionist was fluent in English and extremely helpful. Highly recommend and it will be our first choice for the next visit.
Cons: I have nothing negative to say at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view from the room of the Schloss. Central location and great morning breakfasts.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was our 1st time in the Travel Charme family and we will definitely come back. We had read many reviews - and the desription of how to find the hotel/parking house by car, which is online :) - and were absolutely satisfied with our own experience. From the first contact, the check-in with a complimentary glass of champagne, our beautiful room, a great SPA experience (pedicure, manicure, facial treatment, full body scrub) to the dinner in the kitchen (ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED for anyone who enjoys a good food and is not afraid to look behind the scene, definitely a MUST for every romantic travel!), the umbrellas provided at all times (we hit a rainy week in town) and the kind suggestion where to park for free in town instead of in the hotel's own parking house :) everything was wonderful! We enjoyed the various breakfast buffet in the mornings - 7 days, and we still found something new to try every day. In the afternoons, we enjoyed the complimentary muffin and croissant from the reception. Being in the city center of Wernigerode, all of the Harz can be visited from here. Simply great!
Cons: Just a small hint for everyone travelling from outside of Eastern Germany: The SAUNA is clothes-free, and some guests apperently cannot read / understand the very obvious sign that the whirl pool area is not clothes-free :) So we made some rather "personal" encounters and had to finish our sauna/pool visits rather abruptly, as we weren't so keen on this very East German "FKK" tradition ... . I am not sure how frequented the hotel is by non-East German travellers - a hint on the website to that tradition or at the introduction while checking in might solve some misunderstandings here. Also for those of us used to the more Southern dinner times: Both the hotel's own restaurants as well as almost every restaurant in town clothes their kitches at 9pm. If you want to eat something warm after that: Be prepared for pizza. If you are happy to eat before 9pm, there is a great variety of options available both in the hotel and just right in front of the door.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great staff , excellent breakfast free room inclusions and a farewell pack of goodies when we checked out. Felt special here .
Cons: Parking was an extra cost in a local car park.
7.0 Good
Cons: That we couldn't take the stroller to the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely, traditional hotel in the centre of Wernigerode. I had a quiet room at the back. The bar was nice and the barman helpful.
Cons: The single pillow was too thin and uncomfortable. Difficult to find the hotel by car unless you know in advance where to enter the Altstadt. The hotel did send me instructions in advance, but I was too foolish to take them with me. It looked fairly easy to find on the map, but the one-way street system was a maze.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, excellent breakfast, efficient breakfast staff.
Cons: Charging for motorcycle parking. 6 Euro per night is too much given the price of the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding location, excellent staff great facilities
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent in a lovely room
Cons: First roon I was given was very poor, no Wi Fi signal and a smelly bathroom, after complaining three times was upgraded to a very comfortable room

Cons: Nothing of any significance
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: Dirty, wasn’t cleaned properly in the rooms.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Very helpful manager. Good location
Cons: We were not impressed with the food in the restaurant (which specialises in vast schnitzels) in the evening, there are much better places to eat in Wernigerode
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, easy to walk into the city. Room (single) was great and had everything what is needed. Breakfast Buffet was great with heaps of options.
Cons: The mattress was rather hard. Heating in the room was off on arrival, that should have been on for comfort (visited in December, so rather cold).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast. Clean large room.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Close tot he center of the city. Excellent breakfast including local specialties
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this hotel! The room was bright, modern, clean and extremely comfortable. The manager and staff were super friendly and polite. Breakfast was great, too. Within a minutes walk you are in the beautiful old town center, or take a ride up to the impressive castle - there is a "train" stop right across the road from the hotel. Couldn't be more convenient. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice big decorated room, very modernized toilet and bathroom. Breakfast is continental with many different food choices.
Cons: It claims to have water boiler but actually doesn’t have it as a default tool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly small hotel close to the station and the town centre. Good breakfast choice and friendly staff.
Cons: All rooms require a climb up steep stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming little hotel, in a beautiful part of the village with storefronts and restaurants up and down the cobblestone street. Was able to walk to and from the train station within 10 minutes (with young children), in order to board the steam train to Brocken. Very much enjoyed this hotel, and was impressed by the vast array of foods on the the breakfast buffet. (delicious homemade breads, eggs, bacon, sausage, as well as continental fare, cheesecake, cookies, apple cake, sekt, juices, as well as coffee and tea---really quite nice)
Cons: Nothing. It was great - aside from the fact that I wished I would have been there when their courtyard biergarten was open. Will definitely be coming back in the summer! :-)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, nice courtyard seating, huge room.
Cons: Right opposite the place where lorries came out to start work at 5am. Also roadworks outside all week. So very noisy but not really the hotel's fault.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge range of food. Secure car park (200m away).

Pros: Value for money and attention to details
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super nice personnel, super breakfast
Cons: At midnight still has some train passed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice old building, station, renovated by the county and managed by mother and son, very friendly. Wonderfull room, with extra bedroom, light and friendly furnished.
Cons: Very thin blanket in middle of winter; if you are used to sleep with open window these thin blankets aren’t enough to keep you warm. No extra blankets in closet. Only two chairs in the spacious livingroom, missed chance, because there is enough room for a cozy sofa and a bureau with chair. TV very small for big room. Ashame that the big bathroom hasn’t a tubb and the shower is not a modern walk-in- shower. No shampoo or showergel. Wilan=WIFI sometimes just vanishes, mostly late at night, not very strong signal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was cosy and spacious with a nice design. Room is in a renovated railroad station. Sorrounding area is nice and well cared for.
Cons: Not the best view from the room, railroad. Because of that could be sometimes noisy

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel located in very convenient location. Easy to reach most of tourist traps and offers a variety of food choices. Staff was very friendly and supportive. They even allowed to keep our luggage in the hotel after check out while we were roaming around the city!
Cons: Nothing I can tell.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location and room facilities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were able to check in very lately around 11:30 pm without any issues. Reception also provided us a kettle for a night, that was very kind and useful. Reception also speaks English which is not so often in Germany. Child-friendly.
Cons: First floor has a small stairs on the right side about 3 steps so be ready to lift you stroller up by yourself. Despite that fact everything else was good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel cannot be better located: right in the middle of the town, in front of the very pittoresque old Town hall. Hotel has a parking located right behind the building and it is quite convenient since the parking situation in town seems a bit tensed. The personal was kind and friendly in any occasion. The style of the hotel is a bit "old school", no Scandinavian sober architectural design here, but rather a nice high-end provincial "old school" hotel, very clean, perfectly equipped and well maintained. Our room was rather big and had a its own dressing room, which was a really nice surprise. bed were comfortable whereas it was two single mattress on one bed (I said old school, right) Restaurant was nice and having a beer at the terrasse on the evening looking at the Town hall is a must do (see photo). Breakfast is also a nice buffet with rather a large choice and was really tasty. Value for money was just about right, taking into account that we were there within the high season. Last but not least, the place is ideal to start your wander tour in the Harz mountains. No need to take your car: You take the breakfast on the terrace on the morning, and when finished, you can directly go straight ahead to the mountains. Perfect!
Cons: It should have been written somewhere (and I honestly haven't looked for it), but the parking was not free of charge, and was indeed 10€/day. Still, I believe it is cheaper than parking your car somewhere on the street. Same for some local taxes, it will cost you a few € per persons on top, but no big deal there.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a very central location and our room overlooked the Marktplatz. The staff are friendly and helpful and are able to communicate in English so we had no problems discussing our needs even though we do not speak German. Breakfast is generous. The restaurant menu is varied and the food is good and well presented. The welcome fruit in the room is a nice touch. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Cons: No room service and no coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: room was spacious and was the higher grade We did have quite a walk from the elevator to our room which had a terrific view of the main square -- we were not bothered by this Breakfast was terrific especially on the Sunday we were there. We had driven and the hotel's parking lot was adjacent Hotel is on the main square so in the center of everything
Cons: We had a bit of a trouble cooling down the room but this was not a great problem
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location. Clean. Friendly
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Large room. Excellent bathroom. Good breakfast, not crowded.
Cons: No view from my room although mentioned in the room description
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! It was clean, cozy, comfortable, and has a lovely restaurant. The location is right in the center of the main square. I think it was my favorite hotel on our three-week trip.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall a great hotel to stay at. Staff pretty friendly and helpful, lovely room (with market square view) which was what we thought we had booked, but for an ambiguos description on actual "booking". Only the kindness and understanding of reception staff enabled us to actually get the room we thought we had booked - which made our stay much more enjoyable. Great restaurant with a lovely breakfast.
Cons: We were travelling with 2 dogs, and were charged €15 per night per dog... which whacked another €120 on to our bill. This on top of €10 per night for parking at the hotel was quite an additional cost. Not sure how it costs €120 for "additional cleaning costs" for room on departure - as was the explanation given when I questioned the amount. I appreciate most hotels are on the "pet fee" band wagon nowadays, and don't mind paying for the privilege of having our best friends accompany us, but this is the most we have ever been charged; and we travel a lot. Food for thought!

Pros: Very clean, welcoming and quaint little hotel. Good breakfast selection.
Cons: No elevator to top floor and the 3 flights of stairs were quite taxing for my 80 year old father. A fan would’ve been a welcome addition as it was very hot at the time of our stay. The price varied quite a bit from what we were originally quoted by booking.com.

Pros: Beautiful building, super friendly / helpful staff (despite our not speaking German). Great food. Loved the sauna.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The building is beautiful with so much historic character. The staff were friendly & very helpful, particularly with our lack of German language. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice.
Cons: The location is fairly isolated as there is not much on the small town
9.5 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing hotel! Walking into the reception is like walking into a grand castle with stone floors, a sweeping wooden staircase up to the first floor and beautiful wooden-ballustrade balconies looking back down to the reception area. Our room was very large, very comfortable and very quiet and the views out onto the surrounding green landscape very pleasant. The breakfast / dinner room was equally grand and the quality of the food was very good (we had breakfast in the hotel each of the 3 mornings of our stay, and also ate dinner in the hotel 2 of the 3 nights), and they had a few vegetarian options which was a pleasant surprise (for me as a vegetarian!). The spa area was amazingly comprehensive with two showers, changing rooms, foot bath, whirlpool (that you have to manually fill each time though), sauna and steam-room. The staff were also very friendly whenever we needed to speak to them.
Cons: For those used to large continental cooked breakfasts, the only cooked food available here were boiled eggs, scrambled egg and bacon, the rest being cold platters of meat, vegetables and fruit. That said, the food was all very fresh, tasty and beautifully laid out. Also, and it's only a minor point, but the restaurant may be slightly understaffed, as during one of the dinners there were gaps of 10-15 minutes between someone coming out into the restaurant to see if anyone needed help / attention which made the process of paying to leave quite slow!

Pros: Ideal location for the Hartz railway, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was yum, kept me full most of the day. The elevator was a nice surprise. Location to city centre and train station was close and convenient.
Cons: Bed and pillow a little soft, but I'm learning this seems to be normal for Germany! Despite being non-smoking hotel, the corridors and reception area smelled of smoke which wasn't nice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast buffet was amazing
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great, just about 300m from the old town. Chris at the reception was very helpful and spoke English very well. Breakfast was good. Hotel has just few free parking places but we managed to get one,
Cons: The additional bed from sofa was not so comfortable (but that is not surprising). The biggest minus, the hotel staff smoked behind the reception desk. And as you have your room next to the reception, the smoke gets into your room. Very annoying, especially for a non smoker traveling with small children.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room nice breakfast. No sitting out area for an evening drink but close to town square so ok.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: As many have written, breakfast is beyond expected for this class of hotel. It not the best hotel breakfast I have had by far, but still very good - especially for this kind of hotel. Room fine, location fine.
Cons: There are five or six parking places- from thereon it is over to the closeby parking house at €3/calendar day. Reception area stinks of years and years of smoking. Staff speaks virtually no English.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is nice and breakfast tastes good!
Cons: nothing to complain
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, breakfast
Cons: Very very very slow wifi
9.5 Excellent
Pros: What a gorgeous, family run hotel this was. From the time I entered, I was made to feel welcome. My room on the first floor had three sets of windows overlooking the streets. It was large and airy. The duty manager personally took me to the room and explained everything. On a small table was a welcoming letter addressed to me. As well, there was a small plate of fresh fruit, that was replenished on each of the four nights that I stayed here. The hotel is about a fifteen walk from the railway station and a ten minute walk from the old centre of Wernigerode. All I needed was supplied. The heating worked well. The breakfasts were amazing, with so many choices. I would thoroughly recommend this establishment. Value for money was exceptional.
Cons: Wifi was not available in my room, but there was a strong signal at reception and in the breakfast area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There was a friendly and professional atmosphere about the Alt Wernigerode Hof and there was very good attention to detail. Breakfast was a delight and the breakfast staff were constantly checking up on the supplies of each item. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town centre and of both the main railway and the narrow gauge Harz mountain railway. Our room was spacious with a comfortable seating area and a good sized bathroom.
Cons: We were completely satisfied with our stay and would definitely choose the hotel again, if we were in the area.

6.8 Good
Pros: Close to the centre, good breakfast, in quiet location and plenty of off street parking
Cons: Lack of atmosphere, according to website there should have been a hot tub and sauna and were not given any information on this. There appeared to be a beer garden but nothing was advertised and no one sat out there.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location, close to castle and town center, nice furniture, beautifully decorated, historical old building, fabulous breakfast. We were unhappy with the room that was reserved for us, so the staff in charge helped us to find a room to our liking. Great service. Thanks a lot, Alisa. By the way: not all the staff members were as helpful...
Cons: The worst Wi-Fi experience we had in years; something wrong with the configuration of the router(s), I guess. Every single staff person kept telling us they have no clue and we can use Wi-Fi in the lobby (which was locked and closed after 22:00 hrs; no entrance allowed whatsoever), or wait two weeks because an update to the internet connection will be installed. So we consulted booking.com for help, and their Customer Service promptly offered us a credit, which made us feel heard; thanks Kimberly and Sandra. Eventually, after four days, there was a helpful IT savvy staff guy who solved the problem, so on the last day of our visit we enjoyed internet on our room!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful house with a great view! The rooms were decorated with good taste. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great too.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: very comfortable and very-very nice hotel, amazing breakfast and room, perfect view to the forest and castle. very nice staff - receptionist Ftanziska is just perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent manager who was very helpful. Great breakfast. Ideal quiet location with an 600-700 metre walk to the Centre.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast
Cons: No issues
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Grand reception and breakfast room. Great Continental style breakfast buffet with fresh rolls, fruit, meats and cheeses. Close to the Castle and only 10 minute walk to Town Centre. Hill quite steep down to town so great if you're reasonably fit and healthy.
Cons: Shower-room is tiny (No bath). However, this was a dormer room so ceiling slant down to waist height means they are limited with what they can install. Overall we would rate the bathroom as adequate. 61 TV channels however 60 are German; 1 is French. Given that English is an international language would recommend that they have at least one channel, even if it's only a news channel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. We had a nice view and the location was excellent. We enjoyed our stay.
Cons: The room had an odd sensation of being in a House that Jack built. Took a while to get used to.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast choice, nice staff and convenient location. Lovely old building (once the villa of the Kaiser's most senior household member), tastefully decorated and comfortable
Cons: The wi-fi failed for the majority of our stay. We mentioned it to reception, they said they would take care of it, but didn't. I had the impression from the fluency of the replies that it is a recurrent problem

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location with very easy, free parking. Accross the street from the Altstadt and very close to the city center. Very nice breakfast served in a beautiful room. Large comfortable room, with a nice view of the castle from our balcony.
Cons: The air conditioner was weak, so the room was too warm. We couldn't leave the windows open at night as the hotel is on a busy street and there was too much traffic noise. Smoking is allowed on the balconies so our neighbors smoke would blow into our windows.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice view from the window - you can see castle
Cons: The bed - you feel like you are rolling to the side whole night. Traffic in the morning becomes busy and loud The room is a bit small
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice traditional style hotel, good breakfast and close to town ctr, castle and Harz steam railway
Cons: Air con would have been nice as the weather was quite warm during our stay
7.0 Good
Pros: Everything was clean and even though the look was vintage, it looked new.
Cons: The Breakfast was okay. The food was presented nicely, but the choice was a bit lacking. There were some scrambled eggs, some choices of bread and some cheap cereal. Okay for a 50€ Hotel, Lacking for a 100€ one. No inviting lounge areas in the hotel itself.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A short walk from old town but a lot quieter than old town particularly during Rathaus Fest. Parking at hotel, easy to access roads out out of Wernigerode. A balcony with view of the castle allowed us to sit outside.
Cons: Toiletries and soap not always replaced. No tissues.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds Clean good smelling room
Cons: - No free table on sunday breakfast - waiting line - No tea offerings at the breakfast - you have to ask for a specific tea, personnel didnt tell which sorts of tea they have - after asking to switch on the sauna, it was forgotten to switch on both, the steam sauna remained cold
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Top breakfast
Cons: Wifi could be better
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very friendly staff.
Cons: The bedroom and bathroom were very small.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The size of room was lovely, however bathroom slightly small and cramped. Balcony with castle view was great and good to be able to sit out in the afternoon evening. Swimming pool was good although a little cold for us as we are use to using a warm pool in uk. Breakfast was very good and a good variety considering it was a small hotel. the location was ideal just on the edge of town but within walking distance of everything. Free car park.
Cons: Access to the hotel, I struggled with luggage up the front steps, then second day found the car park entrance to the hotel down two steps and then access to lift which the staff didn't advise of at time of booking in. This was also slightly easier for my husband to use as the entrance to hotel as he has mobility difficulties. Couldn't take his scooter into the hotel, cobbled car park was also not good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very well maintained, nice breakfast room and very friendly staff!
