I got exactly what I expected from this venue. The Grounds and exterior were extremely well kept and a pleasure to arrive upon, parking was ample and easy. Plenty of help and advice was provide at reception and check in which was also a doddle. All of the hotel was in exceptional order and very well kept, a real credit to the staff. Food and refreshments were easily on hand on arrival too. I was disappointed not to be able to arrange dinner on my first night as the restaurant was completely booked, this must be a credit to the facility but I advise you pre-book dinner on booking your stay. Noise from functions would have been an issue in my room if I were planning an early night, luckily I was not. The Spa area was good but I feel did need some maintenance, the steam room was not working for one.
Our room was in The Mews and was freezing. We were very cold. Fortunately we were supplied with an additional heater which made it bearable.
There is not enough words to describe this spot. Me and my husband had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the Mariott Breadsall Priory. The view was awesome just like dream, and the room was very very comfortable. Our room was both garden and green golf course view. It was generally well decorated spacious and clean. We had a wonderful relaxing vacation. We enjoyed every second. We would recommend it, and we certainly would return.
Early check in - large room for the children Lots of stairs with buggy, cases and children
The staff were very considerate concerning my mobility problem and more than helpful at all times. Between our room and the restuarant there were sixty assorted steps and stairs which made life awkward for one with a mobility problem, although transport by buggy was always available. We did find it very expensive and not quite as luxurious as advertised.
beautiful surroundings, good room and plesant staff
Fantastic breakfast and great service. Slightly over-priced,felt a little misled and would have liked to have stayed in the main house.
we found the rooms to be very clean and a good standard of comfort, the pool was great for all the family to use and we would stay here again, though i must note that the food in the hotel was terrible and would certainly eat out next time even breakfast was just passable
Nothing was to like except the location - very sad but true. Avoid this hotel at all cost! A massive disappointment: to start, the picture on the website for the superior room is the one of the suite (as admitted by the assistant manager) - in essence the superior room is just a small regular room with an extra window. In order to access the SPA you have to walk through the bar, not to mention the maze of corridors... and walking through the bar in bath robe ready for the spa will get you giggling from the staff. For me the worse is the fact that I had to pour my own drink at the restaurant bar as the barman was incapable of pouring a kir royal (crème de cassis and champagne). I've had better service in an Ibis! Definitely not a 4* - terrible throughout so much that we only stayed one night and left early.
Location to the theatres and shops
The hotel was very comfortable and excellent value for money. Parking was easy (although a tad expensive) and the location of the hotel was superbly placed for shopping or nights out in the city centre
The location and staff were great, everythign was clean, good choice of food for breakfast, comfortable bar area. Room was right next to the lift, which was in constant use. The noise from this meant didnt have a very good nights sleep. That was in my opinion the only fault.
Hotel as a good atmosphere Check in really bad - computer system down Tried 3 x times to check in from 11:00 fianlly managed to check in 17:10
central location Request for non smoking room preferred was not met and we were placed in a smoking room
the gorgeous bed!
surroundings ie reception, boulevard area room was very hot throughout the night, however air conditioning was available.
Wonderful breakfast in a pleasant setting. My wife & I really enjoyed it, all round good value. They did forget to clean our room, but this was rectified very quickly
Very clean hotel Additional car parking price.
Location, deal on price, bar and restuarant area Booking not found initially at reception as it was not made by surname, room was small compared to similarly priced hotels, had to fix tv as the ariel had fallen out of back
large spacious room and friendly reception staff-excellant overall very expensive minibar items
Staff very helpful
Great location and fantastic price! Drinks in the room was expensive ( didn't use them ) Very noisy until early hours On a Saturday
Everything was very satisfactory We should have been informed about the reduced parking rate
Staff were very accommodating and genuinely tried to be helpful. Very polite even when obviously very busy and perhaps over stretched. great location. a little bit noisy from nearby nightclub i think. fod running out at breakfast.
Location and Room Size Breakfast below standard, Very uninviting Bar Area in reception.
Very central, it also has a good restaurant Room was a bit jaded, it needed painting, also sealing around the bath.
Comfy bed and room
spaciousness and cleanliness of room, wonderful modernized bathroom, perfect location, great breakfasts no hotel parking
the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was quite nice. I thought that I would get a more luxurious room for the price that i paid and since I booked a 'superior double room' - there were no biscuits, the bathroom was dated and freezing cold, the shower leaked all over the floor. I thought the room was very basic indeed and was disappointed with it. I would have got a better room at a travel lodge and it would have been cheaper!
Choice of breakfast was really good. Good variety. We booked a double room. Arriving at the room was twin beds one higher than the other. The mattress was far to soft and the pillows really uncomfortable. We stayed overlooking the main road and was really noisy, assume thats why we had ear plugs in the toilet.
Room was available early. Noisy air-conditioning & heating.
This is a great, modern, hotel. very hand to city centre, shops and night life.If you are arriving by train, its just a few minutes walk to the hotel.
No hassle, good slick operation. Decent breakfast. Key card had to be reset, apart from that it was great.
everything...very clean modern hotel with excellent food &bars and friendly staff everything was fine...
Room was spacious The car park was not that easy to get to. The heater in the room did not appear to work.
comfortable room, good breakfast noise from other residents was unacceptable - didn't sleep well
It was clean, comfortable and efficient Everything was fine.
Location No parking, cheaper on discount site.
center of city... few minutes walk from station
Easy Access and Good Positioning
We had an amazing view over the city as we were on the 9th floor. The room was clean. We arrived about 6pm and the bar was rather rowdy, It was like being at a football match. The room was nice but rather cold. We tried to adjust the heating but seemed to be blowing cold air. As we were there only one night we didn't report it at the time. No on sight parking.
Location. Horrendous price when we could have paid half on booking.com; small compact room, hardly any space to move about in the room. Very hard to find. We had to park in the shopping centre Victoria and then find our way to the hotel. Will definitely ask my friends to stay away from this hotel when £130 could buy so much more elsewhere in Nottingham.
I was charged 33.50 for breakfasts yet had paid for bed and breakfast was only told about 3.50 tray charge not that I had to pay for breakfast again this was not on the bill I was given with breakfast
The fire alarm went off at 6:45!
City centre location; pleasant décor; fairly good value for money Too warm in room; shower head fell off when adjusting; room size quite small and cramped; very few extras (like shoe buffer)
All staff excellent - they seem to like having hotel guests and enjoy working there. Room had an iron and ironing board and tea-making facilities. Location is first rate. The 'Double Deluxe Room' was just an ordinary double room with a rather narrow double bed. No room safe, no mini-bar.
The only things I liked about this hotel was the city centre location and some of the staff were exceptionally pleasant. We were not given the room as described on-line. There was a very small (1 glass) of wine and 2 chocolates (not a box) as described on-line. The bar prices were ridiculously expensive.
Size of bedroom and general cleanliness of the hotel
Good location Service was abysmal. Staff were useless apart from one girl - Tona - who was the only efficient member of staff.
The lobby and the staff Anything above the ground floor. Rooms, outdated, worn out, and the bed was just in unacceptable conditions.
Location excellent Hotel in serious need of refurbishment. Although the price was reasonable for the Hilton, was placed in a box room, no window views and room needed a few locks of paint. Would have paid more and stayed in a more modern hotel
The hotel was perfectly placed to visit our son at university and be right in the heart of things for shopping and eating. We have stayed here once before and would stay again. The floorboards in our room (312) and the surrounding rooms were creaky and we therefore heard people moving about.
Centrally convenient, staff dealt with minor issue immediately
Room was clean and tidy On booking in reception could not find my reservation
Very clean, the hotel had all the facilities we needed for a one night stay None
Fab place to stay, in the centre of Nottingham. No noise of note, friendly staff. Everything was great
Location perfect, hotel staff superb!! Hotel room clean tidy and well stocked :) There's nothing to write!!
Clean and centrally located Parking expensive. No free Wi-Fi. No hair-dryer supplied in room.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. However for the price, it was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and bathroom functional. I would choose to stay here again if I was visiting Nottingham. The wifi Internet and breakfast were very expensive for a budget hotel!
Staff are courteous Better if toothpaste ,slippers etc simple disposible consumables are provided.
The cleanliness that you would expect at a modern new hotel together with the price
It was ideally situated in the Lace Market area and although on a busy road, it was very quiet at nightNotg Not enough pilows on the bed
accessability to the city centre...
Room looked nice, great location for rock city. Room was cold, hot air heatinig noisy and no instuctions on how to operate.
Good ratio quality/price. Wifi is free of charges and working very good Bed is not very confortable
Only stayed one night, but the reception staff were excellent as were the staff in the restaurant for breakfast. The breakfast was excellent too.
All was good, even had maid service when only stayed for 2 nights. Ice machine right outside the room going on all night. Great item to have though! Car park charges pricey.
convenient position, next to car park, very comfortable, clean room.
The comfortable bed,and relaxed atmosphere.
The evening meal was excellent and good value for money The general "feel" of the hotel was poor. Decor was not good - very ordinary for not an inexpensive hotel. Bathroom provisions were poor
Well located, very comfortable hotel
It was convenient for the city
Clesnliness of bedroom, - stains on the wall, cracked broken tiles in the bathroo, cracked washbasin- decor and furnishings of room generally looked 'tired'.
The location was excellent. It looked quite grotty from the outsaide but was gorgeous inside. The evening meal wasn't that great but the breakfast more than made up for it.
The buffet breakfast was good. Everything else was poor. The front desk make you pay upfront, the website says Satelite TV, but only local channels.
I only could emphasize the hotel location, close to the Nottingham Market Square. I didn't enjoy my stay in this hotel. The rooms need to be cleaned properly and the staff were no as kind as they have to be in this kind of bussines. They really don't have any interest in the guest.
Nothing Avoid this hotel it's bad, the rooms smell and the hotel is full off prostitutes
location to city very dated rooms
Nothing outstanding When we booked the room, we requested a room with a mini fridge. When we checked in the receptionist told us that the room has a mini fridge. When we got into the room we found that the mini fridge was removed so we asked if we could get another one or a different room. she straight away told us that the hotel was full and put the phone down on me. The room was quite dirty. The beds were sloping so we didn't get a good nite's sleep. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone. The room we got was very different to the ones in the hotel photos. It was pretty old
the hotel was central It was cold, the roooms were cold.. The televison had very little choice included in the price.and the furnishings were old and worn.
The size of the room and the location
Central location. The telephone in my room did not work and despite reporting the fact it was not repaired. The hotel was cold.
Central Too hot, far too noisy from the street, no parking or even stopping outside, scruffy.
The food was quite good, bar and restaurant were ok Rooms were shabby and the building generally looked tired, the up and down plug in the sink was broken the waste bin lid was broken decoration was poor and the bed was damp, the TV remote did not work and although the main parts of the room had been cleaned e.g. sink toilet etc. It was obvious a deep clean had not been carried out for some time. The lift was dirty and reception staff were always eating when approached, evryone referred to me as mate.
friendly staff, location of hotel, near to city centre. very good breakfast all in a very enjoyable stay. Size of rooms, the first room we were given was too small, we asked for an alternative room which was a bit bigger.
Location Bed was lumpy
The view for the window was off discarded special brew can cans on the ledge outside the window , very noisey as well.
location close to city centre no double glazing on windows, extremely noisy, due to extractor fan and aircondition units at establishments across the road.
Location. Right in the city centre and very close to Nottingham Arena. never needed a taxi. Could be quite noisy at night as on main street. Breakfast was mediocre but fine for the price.
convenient not the hotel but the noise from the street unbearable! i would not recommend any rooms overlooking the street.
A lovely building but it needs a lot of money spent on it as it is really tired and tatty.
I liked the buffet breakfast.I prefer to choose my own amount. The third morning was waitress service, there was far too much, and it spoiled it for me. the receptionists were not always in full view, they were hidden behind screens. But they were very helpful.
The size of the double beds are HUGE! all facilitys within the room you could ask for. a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you into town centre runs every 10mins at £1.60 for a adult. and the breakfast was amazing buffet style get as much or little as you please with cooked breakfast, fruit, yoghurt and pastrys couldnt wish for anymore
I need to explain. I booked the Gateway Hotel Nottingham as a suprise for my daughter and son in law. Their comments are glowing the hotel receptionist was very helpful, friendly and made them feel special. The head waiter also went out of his way to make their stay great. Thankyou I couldnot have choose a better place for them
It was a nice hotel there was a wedding party till 1am in the morning so there was loud music.
bar downstairs no wifi in room and tempermental tv. asked for 3 single beds but got a double and single
comfortable room very clean and spacious good location freindley staff
Easy to book in, pleasant staff, nice surroundings No
nothing The fact the car park had not gritted, causing an accident which my car was damaged which spoiled the overall stay.
The hotel is in a very good location for nottingham city and is very pleasant to stay in most of the time
Except for one female at reception, everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was good in restaurant and at breakfast. Room was a very good size. Reception person was almost rude. Bathroom ceiling was full of mold, lampshades had huge amount of dust in the pleats and the dispensers for soap , etc. were too high up for a shorty like me.
Friendly Welcome, Safe Parking, Simple Clean and comfortable Rooms - Great price, Convenient Location.
It was close to where I had a business appointment. The prices of beer at the bar are excessive.
The reception manager was absolutely superb.
The location was good, security was good, car parking was good. Comfortable, good spa - good facilities. Nice hotel with lots of relax areas to sit. Rooms well equipped - would stay here again if business or leisure takes me to this part of the country again. Only niggle was that room service for evening meal did not start until 7pm Room service times and choices.
Easy booking, efficient service, well-appointed room, good food, easy access to the university, great value for money. It would be helpful to supply face flannels; lack of a proper shower cubicle or glass/perspex shower section that keeps the floor dry; breakfast finishes perhaps an hour too early on weekends.
Relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and happy to help. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi was spot on. confusing to find as you enter through what looks like gates to an industrial estate, until you buzz in and get a grumpy security guard.
Pleasant staff good food and ease of service no
Excellent value and the room was lovely. The staff were very helpful and the location was excellent. Breakfast was delicious. It was also very quiet and I had a lovely nights rest. I did struggle a bit with the shower rose as it seemed a bit heavy. I got there in the end
Hotel and staff very welcoming
Friendly, efficient staff. Reception staff recognised me from my previous visit.
Clean tidy smart rooms. The Lodge rooms are not value for money for what they. The bar prices are very expensive.
Good value hotel, in a central location, which good facilities and high level of cleanliness. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Its central location and nearby parking. Bed wasn't very comfortable
Friendly and helpful staff Heaters inadequate: electric, activated only by key so cold when arrived and off when out. Above head level and not very powerful so cold feet, had to fold over extra bed covers and have hot bath second night to get warm first Broadband: charging £3 seems unnecessary - just lend customers the cable (wifi is free in public areas but I wnated the desk in my room to work at). Plus my socket didn't work - staff came and solved by sticking cable-tie in the hole, but still intermittent
Staff are nice - nothing is too much trouble. Also, it is ideally situated for our visit. Not enough noise reduction - all street and traffic noise at nightcan be heard.
Good service, convenience
cheap, clean, comfortable, spacious room, central location, good breakfast
The room was clean and comfy, all the staff we came into contact with were very smartly dressed and polite, any questions we asked were always answered. Breakfast was a little bit over priced, in my opinion but still of a good standard.
Very spacious rooms. Very clean bathroom, cleanest I've ever known
Staff could not have been more helpful, friendly or informative. Central location ideal for visiting Nottingham City, shopping, access to public transport etc One-way street system difficult for visitors to negotiate - hotel arrangements for parking efficient and not expensive Buffet breakfast well priced but hot food not very tasty
nice big room, modern clean and welcoming, value for money
The Hotel was beautiful, clean and modern and I would recommend a stay here to anyone Nothing
Location All satisfactory
Bar prices and quite exorbitant charge for breakfast which we chose not to have.
The Food and Hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble it made the weekend n/a
Staff helpful and nice but without the forced effect ypu get through training to be nice if you get my meaning. Food excellent. Plus best coffee I've had in a long while came from the barman. Dark room at night Bit pushy on buying bottles of wine with evening meal. Cold shower curtain envelopes you
although discounted room rate breakfast was really expensive - 11-50 for continental!
excellent and helpful staff no
The central location and ease of getting to where I wanted to go.
The room was very quiet and comfortable and the staff extremely friendly.
The hotel was ideally situated close to the railway station for the purpose of my visit and for someone who had never been in Derby before.
New hotel in good location to amenities
Very clean, with professional, friendly staff. Nice atmosphere, and nice new place. Room had nice full length windows, and was very comfortable. Bar was expensive, but was very relaxing.
Good location, very convenient for both the city centre and the park. And the midday check out is very welcome. Being on an island in the middle of Derby's ring road means that it's a bit tricky to drive up to the door, or to turn around if you overshoot. Not a huge problem though, and nothing to put me off booking again.
Great location, near to the city centre. Hotel was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. No parking facilities at the hotel. (We used Chapel Street Car Park, a short walk away, across the ring road).
Good modern hotel, friendly staff. Well located near cathedral.
good bar & restaurant. very central, rooms clean & well furnished the lack of parking is very poor as the underground carpark is closed. there is no drop off parking to allow you to unload cases so you need to drive to the local carpark & struggle back with cases & children
The only black mark against the expereince was the lady receptionist who was on duty upon arrival - she was rude, uninformative about parking arrangements and unprofessional. Also, the car parking arrangements need to be more clearly set out on arrival and / or on their website.
The staff were very helpful when I raised the concern below. Other reports on the web site do not mention that the hotel is right next to the Inner Ring Road in Derby. Rather more than half the rooms directly overlook the dual carriageway, so I would suggest that anyone who has difficulty with traffic noise either go elsewhere or ensure that you get a room on the other side of the hotel. I was given a lovely room overlooking the Ring Road, which was quiet late on Sunday when I arrived. After being awoken at 5am by traffic, I asked the staff if I could have a room on the back of the hotel. I was given one without any problem and was happy with the other two nights of my stay. I would also strongly recommend that anyone with a car park it first, then walk 100m to the hotel.
All staff we met: reception, bar and cleaning, were very helpful and polite. None.
everything was great, staff, room, food, price no complaints
No free parking
Excellent value for money, quiet and pleasant grounds. Receptionist who welcomed us on arrival could do with sharpening up her people skills - she was less than hospitable. All the other dining and reception staff were most civil and helpful.
The Evening Menu The laundry left something to be desired
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room Took ages to get to room from reception
It was a convenient location for an evening out in Nottingham at an appropriate room rate.
Lovely Setting, comfortable rooms and excellent facilities Nothing
Leisure facilities Not one to stay in if you are not part of a conference.
During my stay I could find no fault. The staff were all helpful and friendly and the facilities were of a high standard.
the breakfast the hotel is clearly not for families but geared for business. We saw an ad for family breaks. Our 16 yr old son could not use the pool during the week. Breakfast finished at 9am, OK for business, but not for families. Reception staff did not bother to acknowledge you as you went past. we would not recommend this to other families.
Convenience for conference venue Cracked wash handbasin in room. Poor room layout with inadequate lighting.
The room was a good standard, lounges were soacious, breakfast very good Distance of room from reception. Need to return to reception for internet card. ( could have been offered at check in. delay at check out
Friendly staff who appeared genuine Had to wait over 45 minutes for a room service order
Comfort and facilities of room. In room dining ws also very good. Internet access to be organised from my room without having to go back to reception for a voucher. Plug and play internet would be prefereable.
friendly stafff, facilities excellent lack of air conditioning
The staff were very friendly the breakfast was very nice we had a room with a balcony and it was extra special. The whole experience had a laid back and chilled atmosphere Highly recommended.
The staff were all very well mannered and polite and most of all they all spoke English clearly which made them easy to understand
The use of the swimming pool and gym. The breakfast was very good also, varied in the selection of food offered and good value. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The restaurant was expensive for what it was and the portions shockingly small. The staff were friendly but quite disorganised- there were a number of mix ups during our two night stay. The location was not pleasant, it felt like you were actually on the M1 and certainly not in Nottingham. It was too far out of town for me, I would not stay there again.
Well presented hotel, very well designed. Hard bed. Wedding partys very loud. Bar prices excessive.
treatments & pool found the bar cold - air con and sometimes in loung area
Staff very friendly and helpful. Dinner in the evening was very nice. Close to the M1 so easy to find and also the park and ride is very close by. The trams are very effiecient and run quite frequently into the City Centre. Breakfast was slightly dissapointing.
Everything was excellent - staff friendly, food good, room clean etc. Being very picky - there was only one large towel in the double room, there was over 70 lights switched on at breakfast time - if the hotel is cutting down on energy use with towels then the use of lights might want to be investigated. My paper wasn't delivered - although when I questioned it at reception they gave me an alternative and took off the charge.
Clean and tidy.Dinner in the restuarant was good
Well appointed funky hotel and room with everything needed for an overnight stay. Breakfast good Staff friendly and helpful Outlook a bit grim at the moment as building work in grounds continues
Excellent clean facilities. Good in room entertainment. None
It was convenient for the train station and the Pride Park Football Ground and had all the essentials for a short break. The view from the room was of waste ground. We didn't get many towels (one hand and one bath towel for two people).
The rooms were very good modern and of a high standerd of finish. good that free onsite parking was available.
Good facilities, clean and comfortable, good value. Could not alter heating in room as control appeared to be fixed; it was so hot it gave me a sore throat. I opened window but then had 24hr noise from railway station, although this was not a problem as managed to sleep through. Hotel situated in a very large business park/area with building work ongoing; got lost a couple of times. No signposts showing hotels.
The room was really nice and clean. The location so close to Pride Park was great as the reason for the nights stay was to tie in with the game.
Location was excellent for our needs as it was a 2 minute walk from the train station. Very clean and modern hotel with friendly staff. Stayed in a twin room and the mattresses were very hard which did not allow for a very comfortable sleep.
Modern hotel, rooms small, bed not comfortable, staff pleasant, good breakfast. OK for 1 or 2 nights
This is a new and smart hotel with a cheerful and enthusiastic reception staff. It is very convenient to the city centre and very close to the station. There is a generous car parking area and the access from the a52 and the city are very easy. Some of the room facilities were basic - no bath - no hook to hang a towel or coat in the ensuite. Tap on the basin did not overlap the basin fully so tended to spread water over the adjacent surface. Early morning noise from the trains marshalled overnight in the adjacent sidings (motors started at 0500hrs)might disturb a very light sleeper.
The meals at this hotel were excellent Our room had a night storage heater and was very cold. We had to request an extra heater which they promptly brought to our room. During the night we could hear every 2 mins. a fan going off from one of the balconies outside so didn't get any sleep. We therefore curtailed our stay to only one night
good location for the family visit the bed was too hard!
Very little. Reception, pool reception and restaurant recpetion were untidy and a mess of bits of paper. Pool chaging area was littered with janitor's equipment and materials. £144 for a dbl bed boxroom is ridiculous. That this is a 4* hotel is incredible.
The dinner at the hotel was excellent and the wait staff were more than accommodating – they helped make the evening very enjoyable. Really nothing to complain about. It is a very nice hotel and provided us with a great base.
The rooms are comfortable and well kept.
Pool area was superb Nothing
The food was outstanding, the pool and jacuzzi relaxing and staff could not do enough for you, and with a genuine smile always.
Staff were very helpful. I requested if we could just have soup in the restaurant at lunch time when they were setting up for the evening and we were able to, which was nicer than sitting in the open area.
The rooms are comfortable with nice furnishings. Excellent breakfast and restaurant.
Generally a nice hotel with a good atmosphere and facilities French Onion Soup
