Cyril was very helpful and attentive to me as I had my leg in plaster and needed extra help.
very good for an overnight stop surprised that WIFI was not free
The hotel was first class. I was very pleased with every aspect of this facility. The roads going to the hotel are a little complicated. (Use a good map surch engine)
The spacious areas and the relaxed atmosphere
Menu very good The hotel corridors smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke which we found obnoxious.
Everything ok, wifi and gym
comfortable bed, clean surroundings.
Good food, spacious room, quieter than a city centre hotel. Have stayed at various hotels in the Novotel Group and know that their standards are good and can be relied on.
We were very satisfied with this hotel. The room was quiet, clean and the bed was very comfortable.
The hd tv! Really noisy on friday and saturday nights...bed was fine...pillow was lumpy. everything was clean yet I still felt kinda sketchy about the whole thing. the only thing this hotel had going for it was the location....RIGHT Across the street from the train station and like 5 mins away from Chartres cathedral.
Good location near station. No onsite parking and but of an odd traffic pattern but parking setup at walking distance garage was OK. Courteous staff. Smell from bathroom in room. Room pretty basic for price but not much option apparent in Chartres.
Nice location, quiet, possibility to leave luggage. There was some strange liquid dropping in the bathroom.
Proximity to city centre and railway station Staff could have been more welcoming
Excellent central location, directly opposite SNCF station and within 5 minutes walk of cathedral. Good sized room with decent shower. Car Park name on directions has now changed. Car Park is now called La Gare
It was vwell located within the cathedral site Breakfast was ok but not worth the money
Yes, absolutely No
Chartres is a very walkable town and this hotel was within walking distance of a main shopping area and the cathedral. This hotel is located near the main train station which draws a large number of undesirable people. We did not feel completely safe in this area walking with a toddler in tow.
tranquility, near to centre of the city
Perfect for a stop over break. Clean and comfortable. Rooms are way too hot!
We found the hotel excellent for the purpose of our stay. Nothing
Budget hotel near the motorway - but very comfortable and clean. Didn't hear noise from the road. Spacious parking lot. Nice room. Only 30 min. walk to the city center. In the morning you just continue your trip and don't waste time in traffic. Very good place for stopover.
We were pleasantly surprised by the meal we enjoyed in the restaurant. It was excellent! We did not have breakfast as even at a reasonable 5 euros 90, compared with most French hotel's 8 euros, it is still cheaper to do what we did, which was have breajfast at the local Geant: orange juice freshly squeezed, hot chocolate and a pain au raisin for 3 euros 20. Just the price of the breakfast.
We arrived late but phoned well before check in, everything was perfect, could not ask for a better service. quiet room and breakfast, ideal for stopping over night, I am sure staying a few nights would be good too as they have a restaurant. None
Price, relatively cheap. Helpful guy on desk Toilet and shower facility in poor order, but they did work
Great food Very friendly staff Hard to find No a/c
Helpfulness of the manager Vary hard to find at night, deep in an industrial estate. Best described as "past its best". Had it not had a restaurant I think we would have gone hungry rather than try to find somewhere else to eat and then find our way back.
Location and easy to find. Restaurant reasonable price and food quite good. General decor good. Comfort of room and hotel reasonable for the price Cleanliness of room. There were cobwebs in many areas of the room indicating that cleaning had only been carried out superficially. Also there was thick dust and other debris under the bed. We were initially allocated a room but asked to be moved as it had a smell (posibly cigarette smoke)and it overlooked a noisy roundabout. In the second room there were bread crumbs in the bed which led us to think that the sheets may not have been changed since the previous occupant(very serious if true).
The reception staff were very helpful and even provided breakfast for us past the 9am closing time. The rooms were fine but the location is only really suitable if you have a car. If you stay here, just remember to check in before 9-10pm - the reception is unmanned after this time. Bathrooms were a bit dated.
The hotel was very fresh and spacious, a suprise for the price. There was nothing to dislike.
Clean, modern and efficiently run. Restaurant very handy for our one night stopover on way from South of France to Calais and the food was excellent. French menu was not very well translated into English but it gave us a good laugh!
Very Clean & Fresh Restaurant
Ndew hotel, very nice staff, the shower was fantastic.
Location. Air conditioning is regulated by hotel stuff and it was too hot for me in the room.
Being familiar with French roadside budget hotels I was fearing the worst and ended up being entirely pleasantly surprised by the accomodation, the room, the friendliness of the staff etc. Nothing
The room was comfortable and the staff pleasant. The staff spoke English which was a nice touch considering my pathetic attempt at French. The food was very good, probably a little upmarket for me, but we treated ourselves. The bed was the best I've slept in. Because it was on an out of town site we were restricted to eating and drinking at the hotel, which made a cheap room very expensive. On our second visit we drove into town for dinner.
we were very happy with the services and restaurant - the hotel and staff proved to be everything we needed and wanted and expected. THank you
Good stopover on our drive to Spain. Signposting has improved since earlier reviews. Helpful staff.
close to motorway as we only stayed overnight
Friendly helpfull staff, good value and a decent breakfast. The bathroom in our room was excellent and well fitted out. The room althugh adequate was a little cramped
Easy to find, central, parking and ok restaurant. Reception area large but lacks atmosphere. Separate lounge/cocktail bar could help.
Clean room, comfortable, ac, good shower, easy to get to places by foot. Staff was busy with tour groups. Breakfast was not included. You had to pay for parking.
Good location for visiting Chartres cathedral (sadly being seriously renovated). Hotel has character and staff are friendly and parking is secure.
Good location, friendly & helpful staff, and pleasant surroundings NO
good breakfast buffet, parking in a closed hotel area with fair price (€ 8,-), only five minutes walk to the town center (cathedral) our room (side to the railway station) was a little bit noisy, in the hotel corridors it smells like "toilet cleaner"
It was lovely, staff was friendly and helpful. Nice low key hotel. Good sized room, free internet. Liked everything
A good city location for an above average quality of hotel,it was well worth paying the extra tariff to stay in a very clean enviroment with a very helpful manager. The internet came free of charge and the private car parking at a small cost was secure ,although we did not have time for breakfast it looked very appertising and fresh.
secure parking on site, proximity to centre - easily walkable. nothing
Very convenient for city centre. very good for overnight stay.
Very Individually French - lovely warm atmosphere - many unique features - very comfprtable - excellent breakfast - other good restaurants very close
Interesting decor, comfortable bed. Very close to cathedral No tea/coffee facilities or glasses. No soap or shampoo.
Excellent staff and management.
Quirky hotel but really good. Great central Chartres location. Great room. Excellent food, we had lunch, dinner & breakfast. Parking is an issue but definitely worth the hassle for the location.
It has character, charm and perfect location
Lovely hotel... Nothing to much trouble.. Everything worked ...loads of hot water ..good position.. Good food.. Owner was away his mother made us feel very welcome and at home... None
Excellent friendly staff. Lovely location right in the centre of Chartres old town. Great breakfast and evening meal also. Parking permit is given for parking. Car park is a walk away but it is definately worth the short 3 minute walk.
We stayed for two nights with a view to visiting the cathedral and old town at our leisure, so the location was ideal. The hotel is of interesting character, where uneven floors and doors which don't quite fit properly are all part of its quirky charm. Our room, Les Louis, was warm and comfortable, with a novel shower and a surprise kitchenette in a cupboard. Internet access was fine. We were given a friendly reception by the proprietor, and we enjoyed reasonably priced, unpretentious meals on both evenings. A plentiful, traditional breakfast was served. On arrival, we had to unblock the sink in the bathroom. The lighting was dim, making it difficult to read. Not the hotel's fault, but parking is at a premium in Chartres. We could possibly have used the nearby underground car-park, at the hotel's expense, but chose not to risk it because of our vehicle's height. Luckily, we found a space just outside, but feeding the meter was not cheap.
Excellent location, small and friendly hotel
Great location, excellent room, very good breakfast, value for money. But see below. We booked a room for the night of 16 December 2010. We went out to dinner in the evening. When we returned, at about 9.30pm, the hotel was locked and there was nobody there. It transpired that we were the only residents and the staff had left for the night. It was raining very hard and extremely cold. After much banging at the front door, which was fruitless, we went to a neighbouring restaurant. An extremely pleasant young man there (at Le Bistrot de la Cathedrale) contacted the Parvis staff who told him we should use our room key. Long story short, the key did not work. Finally the staff member turned up and let us in, acknowledging that it was the front door lock which did not work. It was by now sub-zero temperature. Not happy.
Staff were excellent, very helpful and thoughtful. Accommodation was good ~ Stairs a little difficult for those with slight physical disabilities who are mobile. Access to Chartres had to be by vehicle.
When finally got there, good basic accomodation and enjoyable meal. Signposts to the hotel were practically non-existant. One signpost and then nothing to tell you whether you were on the right track or not, so had to stop twice to ask.
Stopping off on route to the sun
Tea making facilities in rooms good. Selection for breakfast excellent. Noisy people upstairs. Otherwise no complaints.
Ease of parking. Location. Quite a way out of town and not really walkable.
Clean comfortable room with meals still available at the restaurant at 9 pm. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Not much variety left on the menu late in the evening, but not a serious problem.
Restaurant was very good for grade/standard of hotel Exceptionally in early houtrs noisy due to location next to busy road
The staff was really friendly and helpfull and the location is good if you are by car otherwise it is quite far from the city centre and I didn't see any public transport in the neighbourhood Breakfast was quite expensive for what they offered...
View of the airfield and watching the gliders. Lovely walk along the road next to the fields near the hotel
Staff were excellent, friendly and helpfull. Everything was very smooth from booking in to booking out. Not very well signposted from main road.
Very easy to locate and close to main autoroute. Junior suites offer plenty of room for a family and at a very good rate. Children were not charged for breakfast which whilst a typical continental buffet was better than many in such chain hotels.
Comfortable room - with all the facilities required - clean bathroom - quiet room - very nice The noise in the corridor was bad due to people coming in at all hours of the night - it seems a shame when the room itself is so quiet.
Nice breakfast though quite expensive. Room very small and no tea/coffee making facilities or air con
visited The cathedral and town no
location and quiet No tea coffee making facilities in the room. My debit card was pre-charged and I wanted to pay in cash thus avoiding a bad exchange rate.
I am english. I thought that it was a good hotel and very good food the dirty babies nappy that we found under the bed!
We were unable to access the wifi service. It was not only disappointing but difficult as we needed to make important business contacts.
Nice clean modern hotel with friendly reception staff The room was very hot, despite air conditioning, in the night we couldn't sleep because it was so hot and asked someone to come up to the room to check it was working properly, they just said all was as it should be despite the fact that we were all so hot.
Good location on main raod route. Businesslike and efficient. Good breakfast!
The hotel building itself is beautiful and set in the centre of Chartres. It is really meant as a place for people who like the historic aspects of the city. The room was pretty basic but the view made up for it.
Excellent position close to cathedral with good parkinbg within what also seemed to be a seminary. Good typical continental breakfast not quite as expensive as most other hotels. The entrance is in Rue Des Acacias, which is one way, and you may need to reverse into the entrance as its awarkdly behind you on the left. Take careful notice of the method of getting into the inner zone via the bollards.
The location is great and the people were very friendly. Very good value
Right in town centre and next to the church and lovely views
the location was great, staff friendly and helpful and the place was clean and well cared for. the old monestary is lovely, yet the remodel choices of the plastic bathroom and wall colors did not suite it's history and charm.
The hotel is a beautiful building and in a most attractive and convenient location at the heart of the town. Cathedral is a stone's throw away. Rooms are basic but light and comfortable and everything seemed to work. Substantial buffet breakfast at 7.50 euros a head was good value although kiwi fruit was hard and inedible and hard boiled eggs felt as though they had been boiled overnight! Difficult vehicular access through narrow steep streets and restricted by security bollards which descend only when intercom contact is made with operator. Reception at the hotel was not good and we were kept waiting for 20 minutes as the sole receptionist had a long gossip with some young people. Finally relief arrived although unable to operate the computerised check-in system without assistance. In other words, not very professional reception at alland whole process took at least 30 minutes from arrival at reception until installation in room!
Secure parking in middle of city, pleasant staff, welcoming and excellent breakfast!
The hotel was calm, in a beautiful building with very clean and well heated rooms. Breakfast was really nice with many different items (not typically French!). A cozy, familiar atmosphere.
Clean, comfortable room if a bit functional. Right in the centre of town and somewhat unusual. Very difficult to find in the dark.
Excellent location, private parking included. Room small and lacking in facilities.
The location was excellent and the charming, helpful staff even better. Brilliantly quick in responding to requests - eg sofa bed made up for our daughter and extra towels and pillows. Room large, light and bed enormous but still plenty of room to move around. Terrific brasserie food and waiters. Traditional decor but modern touches so not at all fuddy-duddy. Lovely welcome for our three year old which isn't always the case in France! Nothing!
Access was difficult, road works in the area meant diversions. Parking was not easy.
Fantastic hotel, great staff complete luxury and comfort. Nicely old fashioned designed rooms with lots of space. Do not forget do stop by the cozy, stylish hotel bar - and the restaurant is real treat... The hotel does have a parking area seemingly 200 meters away - otherwise use the public parking on the square but € 20/night.
Wonderful location! Walking distance to important sites in Orleans. Very helpful staff.
Wonderful restaurant and a very well appointed room.
the decor of the room. Very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely to be close to Chartres cathedral.
Location close to the centre of Chartres
I found staff to be very helpful and polite - from reception to dining room. My wife loved the spa bath.
The staff could not have been more helpful - getting my car which was parked nearby when I checked in, giving directions, pointing our the light show of summer, which turned out to be spectacular.. It's an old building and a bit faded in part. Not enough plugs for charging all the things we need to charge these days, but that is common in older hotels.
Having stayed many times before we were disappointed this time with our stay. The main reason being the location of th room which was too distant from the lift/staircase when we had advised on booking we were travelling,as usual, with 2 small dogs and expected to be placed near easy access to the outside for obvious reasons. We had no help with our bags on arrival and departure See above.
It is a very pleasant place to stay: well appointed and well run.
excelllent staff, location, hotel itslef, quietness and tranquility size of the room
location was wonderful was dissapointed was not in main chateau was put in annexe which felt like staying in a barn
Beautiful building, Very grand setting, quiet rural retreat Room very small, limited facilities
Tranquility, chateau-style My only point is that there is only breakfat served and it is a 10 minute drive to the nearest town
we were upgraded to a superior room in one of the outbuildings and in spite of the comments of a previous visitor, we found it quiet and relaxing! Breakfast, served in a very nice breakfast room was excellent. As an observation-not a complaint!!- there is no restaurant on site so a car trip is necessary if you wish to have an evening meal. The hotel is in a remote situation and not particularly easy to find
beautifull building and very well restored.
Very beautiful immediate surroundings - rooms decorated to a good standard The bar shut very early so arrinving at 10pm the only way to have a drink was outside. With no offer/ oppourtunity for a second drink. No facillities in room i.e bottled water or similar which I wouild have expected.
We attended a wedding locally. No - wonderful!
Relaxed well appointed and very comforatable with friendly helpful staff
The hotel is on the main square in this small town. We broke a long journey here and we liked the fact that it was a bit different and not part of a chain We had driven 800km and arrived at 3.00 pm, and expected to be able to check in then -we could not check in until 6.00 pm. Although it did say this on the booking information it is so unusual we had missed this point!! If you want to rest on the afternoon you arrive -book a different hotel!!
Ideally placed in the square of this small provincial town, it offers friendly and helpful service and a clean room. The rooom overlooks the square, so expect some noise from local boys on their mopeds, and the church clock ringing out- though not all through the night.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and set in a very pretty town square. There was only one restaurant in the town open and the town was under construction/repair so some roads were closed. Probably just because of the French holidays in August.
