excellent food and friendly service. Beautiful location above the Cromarty Firth.
warm welcome, lovely rooms, great views. slow bar service due to wedding
Beautifully refurbished building, lovely meals and friendly, helpful staff. The open fire in the lounge area was lovely too. Nothing!
I enjoyed the warm and inviting nature of the hotel. All the staff were very friendly and enthusiastic. I would have like a fridge in the room.
Large bath, Large room, Excellent view, Luxurious furnishings No
A lovely traditional hotel with well-kept gardens and interior
Spacious comfortable quiet picturesque friendly easily accessible quality food warm reasonably priced lovely views well kept surroundings and buildings
Room, View, breakfast - thoroughly enjoyable night.
Outstanding Highland Country House Hotel - from the log fire in the sumptuous lounge to the unobtrusive but excellent service. This felt like being a house party guest - but without any pressure at all. Room superb, breakfast super. Overall top marks - will definitely be back!
The relaxed atmosphere and the staff who although were there if you needed them were not intrusive. Food was exquisite with a few little unexpected treats produced during the evening meal. Our room was immediately above the hotel's entrance and we were disturbed a few times by banging doors. However, we understand that this cannot be helped and it in no way put us off returning to this wonderful Hotel.
The location of the hotel is excellent, near the city but in a quiet setting with plenty of parking. The breakfast buffet wonderful although the food could have been hotter. The rooms need to be updated.
access to spa / pool was good.food excellent jacuzzi bath in deluxe suite not available!
Very attentive staff, friendly. The room I was in was had the central heating vents outside my window - very noisy, good not leave the window open, ruined the view and spoiled my comfort. I will recommend but I personally would need a different room before agreeing to stay again.
really nice hotel, lovely pool area, nice room and great choice for breakfast
You have to pay for Internet......
We stayed in a family room at the Kingsmill for 1 night in July with our 4-year old and mother-in-law. It was the perfect size with a large bed and 2 bunk beds. Bathroom also had a shower and bathtub, great for the little ones. Staff was super friendly and breakfast delicious. Great choice!
Size of the bedroom and comfortable bed Service in the restaurant was a little slow
leisure facilities. room was gorgeous, loved terrace and french doors, felt very high quality, good breakfast and good times for food and check out
very friendly staff and excellent value for money. well situated for exploring inverness amd surounding area nothing
I liked the comfort of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. I would have liked a bit more variety cfor the dinner menu
The staff were very friendly and informative and the food was well prepared and presented
Breakfast was excellent, hotel was stunning and scenic location. shower left alot to be desired, no cable tv as adverised and parking was a nightmare.
The bar was very comfortable, hotel has a traditional charm Nothing comes to mind
Convenience - location to the city centre The breakfast room was cold, probably the air con but when it is freezing outside a warm breakfast room would have been more comfortable
Offered single accommodation at a reasonable price. Comfortable lounge bar serving good quality simple light meals. Coffee rather weak and luke warm at breakfast and poor quality bread for toast.
Room was efficiently set up. Bath was up to date. Public areas lacked warmth. Breakfast was efficient but not as pleasant as some of the competition.
very relaxing the heating in the room could be better
Located half a block from Rocpool's Rendez-Vous restaurant, where we had reservations. The breakfast! Also, compared to other hotels, price asked is way too high for what we get. No parking space provided closeby to unload suitcases from car.
Our party enjoyed a comfortable stay and an excellent breakfast.
Standard of the eveing meals and breakfast Lift out of order
Central location and value for money.
It is in a great location and the staff were very helpful You could hear every step and door close on the the floor. There was no room darkening shade on the window, so light streamed in at 6 A.M.
The staff were lovely. Especially Alex...he is a mgr.. in training and bent over backwards to please. He was everywhere doing a variety of things...very impressive! Our room was newly refurbished but a tad small with no view. However, very clean and tidy
Good all round - location,Staff,Comfort, etc. but:- -:Somewhat overpriced
the location was perfect for our needs. The staff in general were very attentive and friendly. Quality of the breakfast was great although service appeared disorganised and slow
right in the centre of the town with a great position on the river. staff all very friendly. room a bit dated
1. Staff, on the whole, tried thier best and were polite and friendly. 2. The daily room cleaning and replenishment of towels, coffee etc was excellent. 3. Car parking facilities were very good. 4. Views from the rooms at the front of the hotel were very pleasant. 1. Some room furnishings were in a poor state of repair (suitcase stand with leg broken & worn clothes-hanger holders in wardrobe - clothes kept falling.) 2. No view from windows other than in rooms at front of hotel. 3. Occasional door slamming and some noise late at night and very early in morning (but this is the fault of some guests and not the staff.)
Our room had a great view of the river, lots of light, and a view of the castle/museum. The bed was comfortable and large. For some reason a room had not been assigned for us, although reception was able to see our reservation in their system. When she assigned a room, she upgraded us to a river view to make up for the inconvenience. The bathroom was a bit dark, and the modern, half glass screen inadequate for the design. Had I not been very careful, I would have drenched the floor by a normal shower.
Good location, views, car parking Breakfast should not be an 'add-on' Room should not be up a narrow stair with access to the building by going out of the hotel! Dated hotel in need of major refurbishment!!
we were put up in a room away up a windy stairs felt a bit like a little guest house the bit we were put in its a seperate building to the hotel and had to come out to get back in
It is in a nice area & very handy handy for sightseeing & going shopping we booked online months ago and paid £20.00 more then our friends with us who just booked a few weeks before our stay, & we didnt specify any special room. We have been staying in your hotel for breaks for several years & have always had a good deal before
River view was nice. Rooms were spacious Lighting was poor, had to open drapes to get any light in the room. They charged for wi-fi. Service in the attached restaurant (Nicky Tams) was poor.
The room was really big, excellent en-suite facilities and breakfast was excellent Cleaning standards were not good, dust lying on most surfaces
The helpfulness of the staff Nothing
The food was fantastic, all staff were very attentative, Excellent all round Room was very cold on arrival took a long time too warm up. Sharing platter for 2 to start only 1 scallop and 3 prawns ??????? but plenty of everything else
I think is a good location, overlooking the river and close to the centre of Inverness. The double superior room was spacious and comfortable. Great breakfast in hotel. Good powerful shower I think the executive double rooms are too small, fortunately we were moved to a superior room since our television was broken. This was a much better room. Also is a shame that there is no swimming pool or beauty/spa area
Good quality room service food Would have liked to have had air conditioning - the room was a little stuffy even though the weather was not warm The windows opened - which is fine - but I cannot sleep with open windows.
Living in Edinburgh we were in Inverness overnight to facilitate a visit to a Nursing Home in Dornoch. We wanted an overnight hotel, reasonably central, to facilitate bus journey to and from Dornoch. This worked out excellently and if we are doing the trip again we would want to stay at the Glenmoriston.
As a single female traveller I felt welcome, safe and secure. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had my room upgraded - though the building was a bit of warren so thought I was perhaps going to end up in another building, but it was just the extension of the orginal house. Standard of Decor within public areas was very good and of a standard you would expect Although in an upgraded room, I struggled to see what the "extras" where apart from bathrobes. I have stayed in other hotels in Inverness who have similar standards of room and are lower priced.
Quiet & friendly no 2 point plug for RSA appliances
Excellent restaurants, comfortable accommodation.
polite knowlegdeable staff in hotel
I liked the central location easy to find from train station very smart inside Food prices way over the top £10 for a £5 breakfast
Had disabled access room - huge!
Location & cleanliness Poor reception staff on arrival
Central location. Staff not aware of wifi charges. No water at night or morning of our stay.
Nothing really very basic room not welcoming laminate floor made it cold. Last occupier left shower jel hanging in bathroom shower and was still there when we arrived shower room very tired could have done with refurb. as above
Check in process, excellent staff on Sunday night. Room was spotless, comfortable bed and good working area.
Location perfect for us as we had no car so shopping was so easy. The fact that there was no real acknowledgement of the extreme inconvenience of having no water from late evening to breakfast time. We could have made a big fuss but we are not that type, but if I had handled that situation I would have handled it so differently.
Staff was friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was very good There was no car park, so when arriving we had to carry bags 4 blocks. The reception is part of the bar so you are greeted with loud throbbing music. The hot water in the shower varied so you had to be ready to move when the blast of pure hot water came through
Quality hotel at an affordable price! None.
The free intent was the only plus. Oh, and the cute little shampoo and soap that is provided. The location was awful. There's a "gentleman's club" three doors down and in the evening the hotel bar was full of creepy men waiting for the club to open. The bar plays club music at night and you could hear and feel it in our first floor room. There were drunk people outside in the early morning yelling and screaming and could be heard at all hours. The room was sparse with a worn out single couch and bedding that was flat with no cushion. The bed was low and kind of annoying to get in and out of. There were broken parts of the tempered glass bathroom walls and the shower was leaky so the water pressure was low. There was no carpet in the room but the carpet in the hall and stairway smelled awful like smoke and who knows what else. The lounge downstairs looked like a strip club atmosphere, too, and the drinks were way over priced. Breakfast was expensive, too so we just walked down the street to get a good breakfast at Rendezvous Cafe for a fraction of what the hotel was charging. This was our last leg in our trip and we were too tired to try and get a room somewhere else, abs since we didn't spend much time in the room anyway we just stayed. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
High standard of cleanliness, enthusiasm of staff, quick restaurant service, convenient location.
The history of the facility
The hotel has a magical appearance that is not let down by the experience. We enjoyed the food and the view over the lake from the dining room.
atmosphere excellent. food excellent. staff friendly and helpful. overall excellent. location scenery excellent no guinness on tap :-)
Nice and quiet neighbourhood with beautiful views and great location. Breakfast: from a hotel like this you expect a better quality of food. Our Scottish breakfast was served swimming in oil.
Very luxurious, open fires-perfect for winter weather, friendly and helpful staff, very clean and comfortable room.
Comfortable cosy atmosphere and relaxiing location. Great service - patricularly for baby.
The setting, the hotel itself and the staff. The warm atmosphere of the drawing room.
The ambiance of the whole place was special.
Exceptionally friendly and professional staff; stunning waterside location; fantastic wine list; spacious, well-appointed room. No
High quality, quiet and relaxing. Quality food and attentive but not obtrusive staff none
the welcome and the staff's interest in our comfort our room was close to the heating boiler which resulted in a noise from the fan
Food was amazing, rooms were excellent (perhaps a bit too hot), service and staff delivered a personal service. Porridge the best I have had for a good while! Lovely Rooms a bit too hot
Staff extremely friendly and made us feel like Kings and queens. You certenly get the 5 star treatment at this hotel. The barman Andy can make any cocktail and you could sit and watch him do this all night long.
I liked the quirkiness of the hotel - staff were excellent but it was a bit odd as there is no designated reception, you just have to hope there's staff about o help you - there were for us. Three main issues. Firstly the hotel smelled strange - perhaps of old tobacco? Secondly the bed frame sticks out and both my friend and I sustained bruises from it so be careful. Thirdly the bathroom door is glass and in our room was opposite the main room door so if you're on the loo and someone opens the door they can see straight in! Consider this when having your luggage delivered!
The staff was extremely attentive. Floors were very creaky and loud in the room.
Top class hotel
The rooms are excellent, and the staff are very helpful, the whole experience was superb
DVD selection for inroom use was great. Decor, in-room facilities and service were impressive. Very nice breakfast No obvious hotel reception so staff were sometimes hard to locate
Rooms were luxurious Staff werer friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The location was good Directions to hotel were misleading
peace and quiet
Warm, comfortable & good service Nothing
Good location, friendly staff. The evening meal was disappointing and areas of Hotel were rather grubby. The price of £3.95 for a bottle of water was OTT.
location service decent room
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were excellent, very comfortable and superb value at £50 per single room. The dinner menu was varied and good value and the staff were efficient and friendly. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. No
The room was spacious with a lovely view over to the firth. The public areas were also grand.
it was a business trip.so not a lot of time to do anything except go for a nice walk it was very empty no one at the bar or restaurant so was happy to eat in my room
We were stranded at Perth due to road closure. We were welcomed by the staff and found them to be friendly and helpful. There was little attempt to make the car park safe and clear of snow and ice. However the weather was very unusual and shovels and salt were available for use by residents.
Happy to print out my boarding pass
Friendlyness of staff No working internet, despite being included in the price. No spa facilities.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull The decor is very tired in places
Loved the whole experience of a castle stay little signage to identify Tulloch Castle
Peaceful and quiet and staff friendly Would classify hotel as 3 star not 4 star
veery dated. not 4 star - although they show you every 4 star grading they have. no heating in the room apart from an electric bar heater.
Bags of character and atmosphere. Real fire in lounge made it very welcoming.Staff very friendly. A genuine treat for my 87 year old dad, who has never in his life stayed in a hotel of this standard. I was sorry not to see the ghost.
historical context somewhat isolated location
The ambience of the castle, the meals, the friendliness of the staff and the lovely open fire in the reception area. I didn't see any lifts - what happens for disabled people who wish to stay?
Charming helpful receptionist (Joanne) Staff pleasant but not too manyof them. Good food well presented. Up three flights of stairs to bedroom. Radiators not working. Entrance to hotel unimpressive. Cigarette butts and empty glasses in vestibule.
Extremely friendly staff - we were upgraded upon arrival to a gorgeous suite. All staff we came in contact with had a very friendly greeting The food in the restaurant was excellent with two restaurants, one offering a more gourmet selection and the other pub type fare. Totally enjoyable experience
The Castle itself is very beautiful and the retention of lots of original features is amazing. The best thing for us was the location as we were visiting friends very close by. Obviously, given that we booked a family room and stated the age of our child, we were very disappointed to be refused admission to the restaurant with children! We had to eat our evening meal in the bar!! Sitting in a bar with a 3 year old is not exactly what we had in mind! We were to far away from other restaurants or that would have been our preference. This ruined what would have been a fantastic weekend break.
We stayed there because it used to be my husband's ancestral home. A bit pricey
Proximity to train station and city centre Wifi weak, essentially unusable in the room. Good signal in lobby but inconvient to go there just for wifi.
My room was situated at the back of the hotel, as it was warm the window was open. There were extractor fans running, and in the morning all I could smell in my room was cooking smells, I found it quite off putting.
The central location Standard rooms were very average. Got a good price but would have been unimpressed if I'd had to pay full price. Also..........£9.50 for breakfast????? Come on!
Proximity to train station and highway, lots of good bars and restaurants around. Cool looking Victorian hotel. Wi-fi was non-existent - which was bizarre given they had routers everywhere. Very unhelpful staff.
The shower did not have any hot water, and even though the website says parking is provided, in reality, the hotel has 4 spaces out front that are first come first serve, and the rest of the guests must pay for public parking.
We had a lovely stay. Our room was very pretty, comfortable and clean. The location cannot be beat. The breakfast included was not very good. Also, pur booking includes complementary cocktails upon arrival but all we received was a buy one get one 50% off coupon. Not quite the same deal there.
nice room and vert central reception not very friendly
The warm friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and wonderful rooms made this a night to remember. It wasn't long enough!
NOTHING NOTHING TO EAT NO CRISPS AFTER A LONG JOURNEY A COFFEE WITH A GRUDGE THE ONLY GOOD THING WAS THE BEDROOM MY SISTERS SINGLE BEDBROOM WAS A DISGRACE NO CARPETS ON FLOOR OF HALL
stayed here 1 night, was very pleased with size of room, friendlystaff, didnt eat there.. good value.
excellent value and great variety at breakfast.
The entrance and common areas were beautiful, room was delightful, spacious and clean. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was perfect! Great location. Two blocks from everything important. Make sure you visit Hootinanny's a couple blocks away. They had amazing live music for tourists and locals alike. The hotel is located practically at the train station. There was limited parking and constant traffic (vehicle and pedestrians).
the location and setting of the hotel was lovely also the staff especially john on the bar where fantastic
Very disappointed with staff not very friendly and had requested on booking ( a room with sea view plus husband has dairy allergy which I had put on booking form but they couldnt cater for that told at breakfast by waitress that there was nothing they could offer thus we couldn't dine in hotel and had to go outside the hotel to dine.)
comfort and location
The hotel was very nice, had a bit of a wait for a table in the restraunt, which was busy, but they had a private function going on, so maybe should have had extra staff otherwise we had a very pleasant stay and would definately go again. no
location .and warmth and friendliness of the staff. was a short pleasant walk to the town nothing
Comfortable room and spacious. Great location. Very good food in Conservatory restaurant. Room was very cold on arrival - radiator was off. Took 24hrs for room to warm up properly. Would have expected the heating to have been put on in advance in November.
excellent room with great sea view we were on fourth floor and lift was out of action
Wonderful location, sumptuous in terms of comfort and of course spotless spa and warm friendly staff N/A
The friendly atmosphere, the very nice and clean rooms, the lovely food, the excellent service There was nothing at all that we didn't like
The leisure centre and the food we had no soap in our bathroom or drinking water. we stay at the Ardoe house regulary and is cheeper and more extras water etc
Location in Inverness
The food was good and resoabley priced location ideal spa facility an added bonus which we used,m had a great time some of the staff could get some training in communication skills with their guests
Position plus the general cleanliness of both the bedrooms and the presentation of puclic rooms The evening meal was dreadfull. The menu was very basic but the quality of food was probably the worst I have ever experienced in an hotel. I took one mouthful of the main course and left the restaurant.
Very nice room and spa facilities
The location and room size. Dreadful food, the previous reviews were right!
The room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly. Good location. We booked a double room overlooking the river, but it was actually facing the other side.
The hotel was warm, friendly and well located for exploring the city and countryside. The pool was lovely, very clean and large enough for a good swim. Great rooms, with plenty of storage space and well decorated. There was a turkey and tinsel party there which took over the lounge area so a drink downstairs was impossible.
Very good Spa facilities Dining room is geared to coach tours, would be better for the longer term residents if they were in a separate area
Way too expensive for the tiny single bed in a small room with a half broken tv.
excellent location and lovely room
the room was great more than we expected
The pool was nice and clean
the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very nice friendly and helpfull on all aspects our bathroom ceiling above bath was covered in mould and silicone seal around bath was black with mould the room though was very clean and public areas of hotel were spotless
very friendly helpful receptionist good leisure facilies
It was welcoming, with atmosphere from the bar and eating areas as you enter. Room was good, plenty good pressure hot water. Nothing
Although very busy the staff were more than helpful
Convenient location both for town and visits to surrounding countryside. Prices in in-house restaurant too high - much higher than some very good restaurants in town.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the whole reception area I felt was bright and welcoming. The room was a good size, and the bed was huge as it was 2 single beds zipped together - fantastic. Had a cot in the room and there wasnt really room for it (it was jammed up between the side of the bed and the window) but was a good size room if it hadnt been there. Room and bathroom were clean. Decor not the most modern I have ever seen, but it was far from offensive. All in all - I would stay there again. Breakfast quite expensive at £12.95 a head, but there was a good choice and it was a buffet so you could eat as much as you wanted. The breakfast staff were not the happiest looking bunch (but it was a sunday morning!), but they did their job fine. Other than that, no complaints at all.
handy for christmas shopping - well situated not too far from city centre would probably stay again too noisy - rooms not well sound proofed could benefit from better refreshments provided ie water
Good location The room was OK. But more attention to the fittings ie some of the drawer handles were missing so new handles on drawers to be replaced ! And loose taps to be fixed would make all the difference to fist impressions. The windows also to be able to close properly, as opposed to be like they are slightly open (especially in winter months when it's cold) All in all the hotel was pleasant enough.
Very peaceful location. Comfortable bed. Lovely dining room with tasty food. Staff friendly and pleasant. Bedroom was cold on arrival but did heat up quickly. Bathroom large and very cold - heating in bathroom inadequate. Did expect a few more luxuries in room for a 4* hotel e.g. robes and slippers.
Hotel location, staff professionalism and politeness. NA
comfy bed, courtesy water, whisky & chocs bathroom cold, nowhere to use phone charger, charged extra to use credit card, felt we had been put in attic room as not paying full rate and hotel was quiet
Everything was better than expected except the Head Waiter. Had to complain about the "Head Waiter", and I use that term loosely to describe him.
The standard of service was excellent, the staff were genuinely helpful and interested in us during our stay.
The attitude of the staff; helpful, friendly, genuine. Quality of the food. The breakfast was superb.
Very fine hotel with style.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very clean and very tidy Nothing
We were working at a fair in the evening & during the next day so it wasn't a holiday! However during leisure time we relaxed immediately. The cuisine was fantastic & the staff friendly helpful & courteous It wasn't longer!
the room and facilities in the room were 1st class the highland breakfast in the morning was pretty average
