Generally a nice hotel in a great location. We had several issues. Bad to worse 1 The room safe was not operable as the display stated low battery. Cleaning staff should have seen that. 2 The toilet flushes poorly and the trip lever was broke. Again cleaning staff should notify maintence. (I repaired the trip lever inside the tank) 3 Big problem here.. There was a small amount of human waste on the toilet seat. I couldn't wait for the staff so I cleaned it. Not a great experience for $234 for one night.

Staff, especially Isaac at front desk, were friendly and helpful. Beds and linens were amazingly comfortable! Cost.
One staff member was unfriendly in particular. The floor was not cleaned at all in the hotel room and smelled damp. There were muffins and old granola bars under the edge of the bed. Poorly cleaned.
Location. Smelly musty towels and shower...moldy pool.
The staff was very friendly. The room was clean. The bed pillows were to thick-not stomach sleeper friendly. Construction started across the street at 8 AM-would have been better to be on the other side of the hotel.
Location is excellent. Free breakfast was great. Noisy AC unit in room. Some spills that should have been cleaned up earlier.
Didn't have our room ready at posted check in time, so offered a beverage while waiting. I awoke Sunday morning to the sound of the guest next door urinating - and I had ear plugs in. Soundproofing would be nice. Bathrooms are small without a vent fan. Desk clerk could explain parking validation better, may use a better system.
Amazing staff who went out of their way to be helpful and informative. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone going to Iowa City.
The staff at Hotel Vetro were extremely friendly and accommodating. We travelled to Iowa City for a wedding, and we were able to get into our room 4 hours head of check-in time in order to get ready for the event! The room was amazing and the bed divine. We will definitely be returning to Vetro on our next trip!
The rooms looked cool. Got an email saying my room would be ready at 3:00 and we finally got in at 5:00. Staff at counter downstairs were rude. Cement floors looks neat, but you can hear everything on your floor. I will never go back or recommend. Go to the Sheraton if you want to stay downtown.
The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. They let us bring our dog, which we appreciate. Couple things could improve it- make it clear when booking that while there is a kitchen in the room there will be no dishes, silverware, glasses or paper towels. There is supposedly a "kichen in a box" option mentioned in the room, but it showed pots and pans. Had to go buy glasses to drink a bottle of wine. Coffee pods provided were too big for the coffeemaker in the room and caused a mess when tried to use it. No paper towels provided. Balcony was great, but it had old cigarette butts and trash that could have easily been cleaned up. Minor things, but if fixed the experience would have been better
The hotel looks great on the website - very high-end, ultra modern. It is ideally located near the University of Iowa campus and in the heart of the downtown nightlife. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops are nearby. Parking is conveniently located next door (although the daily rate was a bit of a surprise). While the reality is similar to the photos, the hotel is showing some signs of use and a lack of high standards. The front desk experience was fine, but the attendant was seated behind a low desk (rather than the counter) which required the guests to be seated while checking in. The front desk attendant also was responsible for taking room reservations while simultaneously taking care of guests. We waited 10 minutes for a phone call that resulted in a "thanks for the information, but I'll reserve online instead because it's cheaper" - frustrating to listen to every word. Having 2 people on duty would have alleviated this situation. The furniture has been well used and beginning to show signs of wear, walls have many scrapes and dents, etc. In the bathroom, the water pressure is relatively low yielding more of a "sprinkle" than a "shower". The huge garden tub took nearly 30 minutes to fill. Overall, it was a fine experience, but we won't be going back. It wasn't worth the price tag.
phone data worked without hotel wifi tablet was on hotel wifi, it was fast very spacious grocery store in building is actually a grocery store
