Located in Islay Island, Port Askaig Hotel is by the sea, a 3-minute drive from Caol Ila Distillery and 7 minutes from Eilean Mor. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: it was a perfect location. Not overpriced. Had good food and was clean.
Cons: I like to have a bath instead of a shower. The bath does not need to be en-suite though.
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic and staff were very friendly. Room was comfortable and clean.
Pros: The owners were very friendly and one of the other staff members let me change my bedroom because it was tiny, initially. They also leant me a head torch for a run I went on, which was very nice of them.
Cons: One pillow was yellow and I heard the ferry all night humming out front with its generator on. There was no TV in the room (?) and the shower was horrendous....varying between burning hot and freezing. I spent twenty minutes wasting water trying to get it to the right temperature. They would save money if they sorted out the controls. I also paid £6 for a very small coffee and a hot chocolate. That was a rip off.
Pros: Total chill and great food
Pros: BREAKFAST WAS INCREDIBLE
Pros: The accommodation is front of the ferry port! Came with welcome drink and very nice meals (dinner was optional), always with Islay whisky.
Cons: Had to look for staff (understaffed) but it was probably because of the holiday season.
Pros: Ideal location and very clean
Cons: Breakfast was amazing
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and sported a fantastic view of Jura. When you could get a hold of them, staff were helpful. Tea and information packets available in the rooms.
Cons: WiFi wasn't available except in the bar area, but they said they're working on fixing this. The place seemed a little understaffed with members manning the bar and the check in area.
