9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect to see Trujillo and the garden was wonderful for relaxation. We used this as a base to see Guadalupe and Caceres and we think we picked the right place to stay. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good. I was unsure about parking in the narrow roads when I first arrived as I'm not the best at driving. We parked the car at the first available spot, left the cases in the car and walked up to the palacio. Jacinto then showed me where to park. It was all very easy... he is so helpful. There are plenty of good restaurants within a short walk. The main sites are on your doorstep too. Highly recommended.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. The location was perfect. Mine host Ana was a perfect host and the wonderful Palacio with its beautiful garden and pool was a perfect addition to the lovely town of Trujillo. Could not have been better!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This smaller hotel in a converted palace is packed with historical charm and the owners impressive decorative style. From his personal library to his gorgeous garden and pool, this home is built for lingering. Ana is a gracious host who will provide you with a good filling breakfast to give you the energy to wander around the narrow hilly streets and worthwhile sights of this “conquistador town”. The castle and main plaza are musts. Like us, you might find yourselves wanting to stay longer.
7.0 Good
Pros: This is a charming hotel in a beautiful city we know well, with a lovely small pool and garden. Very welcoming to our dog.
Cons: We had a terrible booking experience this time and were threatened with paying for two rooms thus having to spends hours on the phone and online to the hotel and booking.com.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A truly beautiful building with its own swimming pool and garden. Extremely well maintained and cared for. Lovely bedroom and bathroom, all spotlessly clean. Warm, friendly welcome. We would definitely come back and recommend it to everyone.
Cons: The only small improvement we would suggest is to include the local ham at breakfast. The rest was perfect!

Pros: Wonderful location. Able to park in the small plaza nearby. Breakfast was simple and good value. We were able to ask for more bread and coffee. Friendly staff. Beautiful courtyard.
Cons: Garden furniture was a bit decrepit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly. He gave us a map, showed us the best route to explore the city and recommended some restaurants. We loved the central location, the free parking, and the hotel in total. The rooms are very romantic, and equipped with very comfy beds. We had the loveliest stay!
Cons: Breakfast was simple, maybe a bit more would be nice. It was free so that's why it didn't really bother us much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovingly restored old house. Very central location in the old town .
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, well decorated and located hotel. Morning room service/clean had amazing attention to detail.
Cons: Could do with a bit more light and somewhere in shower to put toiletries. Nice balcony but limited view (across to another wall).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We (two male partners) were warmely welcomed by the son of the owners, who did a good job and was helpful showing us some available rooms. The room was classically decorated with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. The room overlooked the courtyard and looked up the church of Santa Maria. Very nice. The hotel is ideally situated in the old historic town centre, and all sights are on an easy walking distance. While checking out, the owner was genuinely grateful for our stay and we even got a big hug from him. We have never been waved goodbye so warmly before. A true family hotel with a wonderful atmosphere.
Cons: We missed some sort of a lobby with a sofa etc, to read or sit or drink a wine. The room lacked tea and coffee making facilities.

Pros: Excellent historic hotel
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a gorgeous little hotel perched on the top of the hill with amazing views. There is a car park which is a real bonus in the narrow streets. The room was very clean and the AC worked really well, it was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was on the terrace in the sunshine and was really good, scrambled eggs, cheese, chorizio etc all freshly made. There is a great restaurant just steps away from the hotel, which was good as the hotel restaurant and bar was closed the day we were there. This hotel is worth a visit and we shall definitely return and stay longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay in the historic centre. Friendly owner. And a clean room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in the old town, just below the castle, and is just a short walk from Plaza Major & the main restaurants & bars. There is free parking next to the hotel, but due to the narrow streets & confusing one-way system we parked in a nearby Plaza for free & walked to the hotel. The welcome was friendly & the room was lovely, clean & comfortable. The hotel is in an historic old building, which has been very tastefully modernised inside. We had our breakfast on the outdoor terrace, under a fig tree, below the castle and the quality & quantity of breakfast was very good. the free Wi-fi signal was strong. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Cons: Nothing, everything was great.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The nearness to the Plaza Mayor. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: We would have preferred decaf coffee from the machine like other hotels we have stayed in. It would have been nice to have a restaurant instead of having to go out on wet evenings. We were given the choice of parking in a car park up an extremely narrow street for a fee of 10E a day or parking a few hundred yards away at the other side of the town.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: No bar..no restaurant.. That was open !!! ..in this respect poor..Will try another hotel next year

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location - very comfortable - warm - super friendly staff
7.5 Good
Pros: The size of the room 35 square meters was fantastic. The bed was huge.
Cons: Horrified when taking a bath to find several balls of dark hair, NOT MINE, floating in the water. They may well of come back up the water outlet but there is no excuse. Spoilt the stay for me. Furniture in the room was tired looking, tv wiring a joke and paint peeling on the ceiling.

Pros: Location: close to Monfragüe. Host: Alicia is a wonderful host, she really takes care of you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accommodation run on a fairly informal basis with ability to self-cater should you wish. Clean and comfortable throughout while Alicia (the 'meeter and greeter') was helpful during my stay. Location is superb for easy access to the main Monfrague bird sites with the new bird visitor centre literally round the corner. I would happily recommend Casa Rural Peña Falcón and would certainly use it again if revisting the area
Cons: no issues

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic historical city and excellent hotel
Cons: Poor/absent signage to the hotel from the main roads below and through the old city. We had little hot water in our suite.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: With room upgrade should have included complimentary breakfast.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is really good both for looking at the old town and for easily getting out of town to look for wildlife. The Paradore itself is in a lovely old building. The breakfast is a buffet with a good choice and some hot dishes available. The old nuns' rooms are large and airy and generally peaceful with views over the town.
Cons: I do wish that it was possible to get something hot to eat after 4.00pm and before 8.00pm. Not everyone wants to have an evening meal as late as that and the cafe really ought to have a few items available and not just ham and cheese sandwiches or cake.
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful building
Cons: Simply awful staff. Nice food flung down on the table my surly staff. They are all state employees and it shows. After one try ate all our meal elsewhere
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely old monastery. Comfortable, convenient and well located.
Cons: Unable to eat in the evenings other than sandwiches before 8.30 pm, even in the cafeteria.

Pros: Everything was excellent, their is free parking in the street right outside the accommodation. The room was perfect, nothing special but everything we needed. The lady on reception was very friendly she spoke perfect english & nothing was too much trouble for her. On arrival she gave us information on the town & where everything was & Restaurants options. The town of Trujillo is a beautiful place with a lovely Square & at night its truly Magical. We spent 2 nights there & would certainly go back if ever passing that way again
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: location close to to historic square good parking friendly reception
Cons: nothing really
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location. Both for going to the city centre ( 5 min by foot ) and getting out on the highway to Mont Frague. Good parking places near the hotel and nearby small streets. Very quiete place,- also very good for just relaxing.
Cons: The private parking in the yard only could take narrow cars. We couldn´t get in. Also a frigde would be great at the room. There is noone at the reception at nighttime, and we had huge problems with our key to get into the hotel, also after having it replaced the day before because our key didn´t worked. We had to call the number at the door.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff couldn't have been more helpful and went to great lengths to sort out a ground floor room for me.
Cons: n/a
8.0 Excellent
Pros: 3 night stay. Standard double room on the ground floor. A simple room in a nice building, spacious, clean, comfortable, & everything worked. Direct access from room into the gardens at the rear with table & chairs immediately outside. Quiet location in the casco antiguo 100m outside the central square & tourist-town, and all the better for that. Lovely friendly & accommodating staff - '¡gracias señoras'! Excellent breakfast for moderate cost. I found ample street parking though there is a private car park. I travel quite a lot. This hotel absolutely met my requirements.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and large room, within walking distance of all sights. Parking for which we paid extra was easy and tucked away. Bedroom overlooking garden with french windows. Very interesting historical building. Would certainly stay again.
Cons: Taps in bathroom were very old and dull and broken, needing repair/updating.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, room was peaceful, a good size with a large, comfortable bed. The staff were very nice although at times we had to wait at the desk a while for them to come (I think they do several jobs at the hotel). Generally it was great value for money and a fantastic location to stay in Trujillo, 5 minute walk to Plaza Mayor but in a more tranquil area (away from areas with clubs and people drinking and partying on the streets very late). There's also parking for €5 and breakfast for €4 (although we missed this as we overslept due to the room being very dark and quiet!).
Cons: Not much; the shower was a little small and the bathroom door a bit creaky.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for driving as it's on a main route into town and only a 5 minute walk to the main plaza! Parking is a bonus. The cafe is great and breakfast is very good. Will stay here again. Everything works really well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very-very nice! It’s easy to find. Big room, patio, very good breakfast, underground parking. It was much better than we expected )
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extraordinarily helpful and kind, allowing for a very late check in due to unforeseen circumstances. It is a very charming hotel, extremely well maintained, and the available parking facilities are essential considering Trujillo’s very limited parking space.
Cons: The decor is a little dated, but everything is impeccably clean and rather charming.
6.7 Good
Cons: Extremely noise room with some sort of engine buzzing all night
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very pleasant hotel. It's located on the edge of the old town and parking is easily accessed. The breakfast was excellent and there's a lounge area downstairs.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice food good value
6.0 Good
Pros: nearby interesting places
Cons: nothing
6.7 Good
Pros: The hotel design was stunning, taking you back to a bygone era. With secure parking and a central location this was excellent value for money.
7.3 Good
Pros: A mere 300 metres from the Plaza Mayor, this lovely hotel is light, airy and very well decorated and cared for. There is off-street parking (a fee is charged, but it's reasonable) and a popular bar and restaurant. Trujillo has many very tempting hotels and hostals, but the Victoria deserves to be better known. It's very conveniently located for the town's least touristy shops, bars and restaurants, but within walking distance of all Trujillo's most notable sights. A gem of a place!
Cons: If a light breakfast were included in the price of the room (a coffee and tostado/croissant is enough!), might this ensure that more people stayed in what is a very good hotel dominated by a delightful enclosed courtyard.
6.3 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location
Cons: lack of fridge in the room. Breakfast was meagre.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff who were attentive without being fussy and although they did not speak English this wasn't a barrier. The excellent restaurant and cafeteria in the old coach house meant that we could eat in the garden. ( Menu in English available) Food was good and reasonable with a good choice. They could see that I couldn't manage stairs and so switched me without fuss to a ground floor room
Cons: Street parking was limited but the charge of 7.50 euros to park in the underground car park seemed excessive so we waited for a parking space outside
6.0 Good
Pros: Old fashioned hotel with every comfort. Clean and comfortable.
Cons:
6.4 Good
Pros: conveniently placed, easy to find, most of the staff friendly
Cons: the receptionist on arrival seemed a bit put out when we booked in
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a beautiful building,a calm cool oasis of marble. The rear of the hotel features some stunning luster tiles. The hot weather during our stay meant dining outside in the spacious courtyard garden at the rear which was very pleasant and had the added buzz of the presence of local families who use this as an evening meeting place. There was no English spoken by the staff we came across but this was not an issue. The staff were all very pleasant. The car parking (at extra cost) was extremely convenient being situated at the rear of the hotel. Overall an excellent stay. Trujillo is a very interesting and lovely town and is fairly close to a stunning national wildlife reserve.
Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros: Location near Trujillo centre. Helpful staff. Internal patio in interesting 19th century building. We had asked for a quiet room and were given one.
Cons:
7.6 Good
Pros: Beautiful marble-floored hotel with glassed-in atrium and comfortable exterior courtyard, adjacent to bar/restaurant. Located in older small town across from small park, and about five minutes walk from an enchanting plaza mayor. Staff were very friendly, even when our Spanish ran out. Long-term parking is about four blocks away at a municipal parking lot.
Cons:

Pros: The entire experience was wonderful. Kurt, the Manager was friendly and showed us everything we might need to know. The room was rustically charming, The history of the fortress in which the hotel is located is fascinating and the entire experience was fantastic. We would go again. had a great time!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were made very welcome by our charming and helpful host Werner; our spacious room was full of charm and with everything we needed; the hotel was very well cared for with strong sense of history and lots lots of areas to relax including an attractive garden and poolside terrace; the location in the heart of medieval Trujillo could not have been better.
Cons: The stay could be made even better if there was more of the great local produce served as part of breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a gorgeous historic house in a beautiful part of town. It is quite unique and the swimming pool environment is totally relaxing. The host is very helpful and booked us into a nearby restaurant for the evening, which we all really enjoyed. If you are coming by car you must contact him on arrival in Trujillo as you will never find the house on your own and he will show you the way - albeit in his own teutonic manner.
Cons: We were disappointed to find that the rooms we had selected on booking were not available due to some problem with a water leak. Do note that this is more like an Airbandb arrangement than a hotel. You are left to your own devices, which can be nice, but don't expect a hotel bar with drinks by the pool or a reception.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Beautiful decoration, the terrace with the pool and the view

Pros: Good location and parking Good breakfast and an impressive building. Close to old town and plaza mayor very good
Cons: Restaurant did not open until 2000hrs, and no apparent alternatives. Bar was a single desk, and seating in the atrium area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very old and interesting hotel with central courtyard with a bar. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
Cons: Car parking outside hotel was very limited we were lucky to park but it could have been difficult if more than two cars arrived at the same time. It was also on a one way square so it could have been very tricky.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good central location.Swimming pool, safe parking for motorbikes. Very near the lovely old town square.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place and the restaurant was great, we arrived at 2230 and they served us a 3 course meal no problems. Breakfast was decent nothing to fault
Cons: You need to ask them to turn the destination charger on, no big deal but maybe a bit stressful if you arrive with low charge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unusua interestingl building, in central position for sightseeing.
Cons: Breakfast was limited.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel staff is very friendly. Hotel is in great location and very cool pretty hotel.
Cons: Restaurant is awful with limited food selection and only 3 wines. Management refused to buy more wines! 1* for restaurant. Go to the plaza Mayor which is about 5 mins walk to have excellent food and wine. A very beautiful city. Breakfast is terrible.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location and a big, two floor room. The hotel corresponds to a re-restored convent, which has its charm.
Cons: Very noisy since the entrance to the room we´ve stayed corresponds to the inner "courtyard" of the hotel and where the restaurant was located. You can hear every time a coffee is prepared and at night the children use it as a playground; They are not to blame, but the parents... You have access only to a buffet breakfast that costs 12.5 per person ... expensive, as neighboring hotels offer 2 coffees, 2 toasts and 2 orange juices at 8 euros.

Pros: Pool area was good - a bar service would have been great Restaurant very good, although pretty empty
Cons: Being asked for a deposit on towels for the pool
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was delicious best restaurant on our trip.
Cons: Pillows were too hard.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location for exploring and the National Park, friendly staff and good food
Cons: As ever for this time of year we could not understand why the swimming pool could not be used. There is the usual response of ‘the season is over ‘, yet outside it was 30 degrees! Seasons are changing and different people expect facilities like this to be extended.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The rooms were very clean
Cons: The food was appalling! Very poor selection and what we did order was swimming in oils...over cooked to the point of being rubbery and yet cold. Complained at the time and just received shrugged shoulders
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy, big room. Delicious food at the restaurant. Clean pool. Great location, with a short drive to the start of the walking routes in Parque Monfrague. Great, would recommend.
6.7 Good
Pros: The prix fixe dinner was a nice option and the location was beautiful. Staff were friendly.
Cons: Wifi was terrible, the pool had no furniture, you couldn’t sit on the balconies because of the metal grate floor and the air conditioning didn’t seem to cool at all so the room was uncomfortably hot at night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff and hotel position in Monfrague perfect. Breakfast - coffee good.
Cons: Breakfast - scrambled egg dry, cereal not topped up, and you try to find a spoon for your cereal. The cafeteria we were told was doing food after 4 which it wasn’t. We had to beg for something to eat and the girls rustled up some wonderful sandwiches, thank you to them. Also booking. told us we had a bath in our duplex room which was not true, only one of the four had one but the girls once again sorted another room for us,

Pros: Great location, clean, comfortable room. Good value for money. Nice staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location next to the Plaza Mayor (though Trujillo is tiny, so EVERYWHERE is next to the Plaza Mayor!). The hostal is above, and owned/run by, a small bar/restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite large for a single.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is spectacular and the hostel is so comfortable
6.7 Good
Pros: Great food. Friendly staff. Great location around the corner from the main square.
Cons: Poor beds and bedding. Lots of mosquitoes in room. All of us got bitten. Shower fell apart.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel with the perfect location right in the center of Trujillo. 1-2 min walk to Plaza Mayor/Cathedral, 10 min up to the Alcazaba Castle on the hilltop. Friendly and helpful staff, and the hotel has an attached restaurant that came highly rated (unfortunately I did not eat here). Good wi-fi. For solo/budget travelers, this is a great deal, and I would probably stay here again if I ever revisit Trujillo.
Cons: The room and the bathroom were small (bathroom door did not open all the way).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and fabulous location close to Plaza Mayor.
Cons: Rooms were clean but basic.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, just round the corner from the square.
Cons: General updating needed for property, although it's still value for money. For example shower difficult and really small.

Pros: Very good location for national park. The hotel bar is popular among locals and is lively from morning till evening. Good menu with local specialities and nice selection of toasts for breakfast. Very good price/quality ratio, but don't expect modern or boutique rooms. Already want to go back.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: the air conditioning was too noisy
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was startlingly good.
Cons: Lack of a lift to bedroom as I carry a case that’s very heavy - probably my fault!

8.2 Excellent (337 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hostal la Cadena places you in the heart of Trujillo, steps from Palace of the Marquis of the Conquest and Plaza Mayor.
7.5 Good
Pros: Centrally located, castle view (at least the top of the building), quiet (because the window faced the courtyard) and good sleep (thick walls), centuries-old building where the Spanish king spent the night (well, a 450 years ago).
Cons: Rooms a little tricky to find - you need to cross the Restaurant. You can tell what is on the menu, when window is open - the kitchen ventilation must be close. Rooms need some refreshment. Rates were too high for the quality offered (compared to other places in Extremadura).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hospitable staff Good food
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Everything good and staff helpful and friendly. There’s no lift and the single beds are small and the pillows a bit hard and small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Locación couldnt be setter, right on the man square
7.1 Good
Pros: The accommodation is very central and is in a nice building. The whole place is kept very clean. The room is a decent size and the bathroom has a decent shower with plenty of hot water. The bed was quite comfortable and the room temperature was good.
Cons: Unfortunately it is impossible to find parking near the main square and you are not supposed to drive into the main square even to drop off luggage. The man who checked us into the accommodation was a friendly enough man but seemed a bit odd. He almost demanded our room keys when we were leaving for the day, something we are not comfortable with doing. The room we were directed to had quite an ugly view, of the back of another building. Was a bit disappointing considering there seemed to have been rooms available overlooking Trujillo's main square. The pillows on the bed are flimsy and offer no support for the head. We had to fold my pillow over twice to get a fairly okay support. There is also no lift in the building, which was okay for us, but with those people with mobility problems, this would be a nightmare. It was difficult enough for us dragging our suitcases upstairs. It would have also been nice to have tea-making facilities in the room so as to have a nice cup of tea at the end of a long days touring. We have stayed in Trujillo many times. Although not too bad, it was our least favourite place. That was probably more to do with the 'odd' man who checked us in and the ugly view from the room. Other places offer much nicer views. It would also be nice if the restuarant attached to the accommodation offered vegan and vegetarian foods, considering this area is very popular with nature lowers.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location, lovely old building, very friendly helpful staff, small but comfortable bed, easy parking in Avenida de la Coronación (ignore sat-nav, use this street to get to the main square, drop your bags then go and park).
Cons: Small bathroom with shower head that wouldn’t hook to the wall, no towel hooks, paper thin wall between our room and the next (lots of noise at 2 am), found a big cockroach on the floor in the morning. In fairness the guy was mortified and asked if we’d had our balcony doors open during the night. We had and he said it probably came in that way. Not great though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything delightful, staff particularly so! Highly recommend. Thank you,!

Pros: The location
Cons: Everything other than the location
7.1 Good
Pros: The view from this place is amazing. For birdwatchers this location is superb. Information about places to go birdwatching amply available.
Cons: Breakfast and dinner could be better. Room was clean but rather spartan
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff providing dinner at short notice and excellent breakfast and packed lunches.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice place on the country side, with big and confortable rooms. Perfect host and good homecooked meals.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Once we had located the property, we were enthralled by the house , which was a typical Spanish farm house, with grass growing on the approach pathway beyond the gate, and its position in a wide landscape of rolling fields and gentle hills under a vast, blue sky . The house is a bird watching centre and was full of enthusiastic birders (who didn't speak to non-birders like us) and a dozen White Storks' nests on a nearby ruined building were interesting to us, if not to them !! Mine host and his mother (i/c the kitchen), looked after us very well and we really did have no complaints.
Cons: Nothing
