Cons: There is nothing to dislike.
Cons: Not a thing
Pros: Thoroughly delightful. We have now tried all the different rooms available - and they are all delightful! The attention to detail is stunning, the breakfast is splendid and the host - complete with quirky sense of humour - makes each visit a delight. Private parking is easy, pool is delightful. Can't recommend highly enough!
Pros: Lovely place with charming hosts. Peace and quiet personified. Fantastic breakfast with Madam baking many of the items.
Cons: Nothing really
Pros: Lovely large room with comfy bed. Great decor, interesting artefacts, lots of books. A very restful place with a pretty garden AND a swimming pool! Breakfast table was very attractive and breakfast included homemade preserves and fresh fruits and yoghurt. Very welcoming host. Very convenient for exploring Cognac.

Pros: Extremely friendly, charming hostess. Wonderful big breakfast. Highly recommended for a country stay in a lovely rural setting.
Pros: Excellent hostess, very welcoming, pleasant and helpful Lots of character, and tons of farmyard animals to enjoy! Nice room, with a king size bed that was very comfortable Really good breakfast
Cons: Slightly temperamental wifi
Pros: Everything was perfect, starting with the lovely hosts, who made us feel like home The location is so relaxing and beautiful and the breakfast delicious! The chef spoiled us with all sorts of delicacies every day. We also had a Sri Lankan dinner, which turned into a full eating experience that we would repeat anytime. Thank you Dinusha and Sujeewa for hosting us
Pros: Everything. But the Sri Lankan dinner was amazing!
Cons: It's a pity the rating has a maximum of 10, otherwise we would score our stay a 12!!! The hosts, hosting, rooms and food were all perfect. We are already planning our visit to Fance around another stay at La Fontenelle Chambre.
Pros: A wonderful place to stay. Beautiful setting and I loved the Sri Lankan decorations. The hosts were extremely hospitable and speak excellent English. We had a delicious home cooked dinner.
Cons: Nothing really - perhaps the pool was a bit cold.
Pros: Beautiful French country house in the middle of Cognac’s vineyards, but as soon as you walk in you feel like you are on an island in the Indian Ocean. And that’s the reason why we chose this very unique B&B. The hosts were lovely and breakfast was a real feast.
Cons: What is there not to like?
Pros: Enjoyed the friendly manner of the hosts.
Cons: Hosts were great, always taking care to ensure my wife and I had a comfortable stay. We will for sure return.
Pros: Comfortable, peaceful and delightful property with lots of outside space and immaculate bedroom. Good place for exploring the local area!

Pros: Location was perfect and room was really nice. The outside space was a bonus.
Cons: No milk in room with tea and coffee makings. WiFi wasn’t great.
Pros: Very comfortable and quiet room.
Cons: An included pickup service from the train station would be nice.
Pros: Clean, quiet and cozy hotel with spacious rooms in Jarnac. The staff made me feel welcomed and helped when needed. I would recommend staying here if in town.
Cons: Unfortunately the breakfast was disappointing for us, very limited selection and of poor quality. For example, the fruit was rotten and when asked for fresh one no one bothered to change it, not even on the next morning. Hopefully this can be improved for future guests. Also some staff were less helpful and did not speak English, which made the communication a bit challenging.
Pros: Beautiful interior, spotlessly clean the staff and owner couldn’t do enough for you. The room we stayed was perfect, large room with bathroom and entrance dressing area. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful with cereal, yogurts, Fruit, boiled eggs , smoked salmon , hams an cheese, boild eggs, gorgeous warm bread and pastries along with fruit juices teas and coffee. Great for setting you up for a day sight seeing. Defiantly one to come back to.
Pros: The location perfect !! The room very clean and very comfortable!
Pros: Beautifully tastefully decorated. Fab bathrooms. Good fluffy towels, bathrobes. Expensive feel to the sheets! Good breakfast. Warm welcome. Excellent location.

Pros: Staff were fantastic, room was gorgeous, lovely restaurant and grounds, massage bed and sauna were fabulous !!
Cons: Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn't working and the wifi didn't work in our room which meant we couldn't watch the film we'd planned to watch at bed time and had to go down to the bar to use laptop and do some work
Located in Chassors, Logis de Guîtres is a 5-minute drive from Birthplace of Francois Mitterrand and 6 minutes from Francois Mitterrand Museum. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beautiful stay in beautiful landscape. The breakfast was so delicious and all homemade. We enjoyed time very much.
Pros: Logis de Guitres is a beautifully appointed and thoughtfully furnished French manor house situated behind high walls in the village of Chassors between Jarnac and Cognac. Chassors itself is an unattractive village with no shops, restaurants or any redeeming features but it is within a short drive of both Jarnac and Cognac. The lovely themed rooms and very comfortable bed with good quality linen were pristinely clean as was the en-suite bathroom. Each room has coffee/tea making facilities which was a bonus for that early morning cup of coffee. The rooms are in the main house which is used exclusively for guests who also have the use of a sunny sitting room. The continental breakfast served in the beautifully furnished dining room around a communal table was delicious there was home grown fresh produce from the garden, homemade jams and special homemade pastries which were different every morning a veritable feast to start the day. Corrine the hostess was very welcoming and happy to impart her extensive knowledge of the area as well as restaurant recommendations for evening meals. Whilst I cannot put my finger on the reason for it we did feel very uncomfortable and almost as if we were an imposition during our stay at Logis de Guitres maybe because we were the only guests. If you are travelling in the height of the season or in a group I would say that this property would have a very different ambiance. The owners have put a great deal of love and attention into making this property a beautiful oasis but would we stay at here again I somehow doubt it but for no other reason than its location we would prefer somewhere closer to Cognac or Saintes.
Cons: Whilst free WIFI was advertised and available it only worked intermittently and in the end we gave up because it was just so bad that we could not even access emails. I also tried to access the internet via my SFR sim card but this also proved unsuccessful.
Pros: Warm and personal
Cons: We visited during a heatwave and would love to have had a swim in a swimming pool.
Pros: Every detail thought out, perfect. The place was immaculate with beautiful grounds and personal service.
Pros: Lovely welcome from host, nothing was too much trouble and a home baked breakfast was a lovely treat. Our room was enormous but access to lounge, dining room and large garden was perfect
Cons: Nothing but remember to plan evening meals as restaurants recquire a car journey
Pros: Breakfast was great with range of different home cooked and prepared treats each day. Location was fine if you had a car but in an ideal world would be nearer to Cognac. Jarnac was nearest railway station. Hosts were extremely kind and very willing to help in any way they could. Very relaxed calm atmosphere at the Logis. Only slight downside was old building floorboards and doors creaked and made lot of noise as guests retired at night and adjacent rooms plumbing sounds were very apparent.
Cons: More sound insulation from nose of other guests passing in corridors or using bath room facilities would have been nice.
Pros: Excellent breakfast each day with different choices. Lovely setting and the owners gave us a really good recommendation for an evening meal just 3km away. Quite superb and will keep all foodies very happy. Surrounded by lots of cognac tasting venues but sadly did not have the time to partake this trip. We will be back.
Cons: Nothing although it did take a while to find it but really worth it once we had arrived.
Located in Bassac, Le Moulin de Bassac is a 1-minute drive from Abbey of Bassac and 9 minutes from Courvoisier. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Also the possibility to go with a boat on the water was very nice. We have liked also the stay in the room above the water mill.
Pros: The house had a lovely homely feel with a large country style kitchen and there was a very warm welcome from our hosts. Our room although on the small side was very clean and the beds really comfortable. Our hosts recommended that we look at the menus at both the local restaurants before deciding where to go for our evening meal and we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Auberge du Conde. We were served bread made with flour from the mill for our breakfast along with home made jam and plenty of coffee. Perfect. Madame took time over breakfast to sit and chat and have coffee with us which made us feel very much at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay and would not hesitate to return if we find ourselves in this area again,
Pros: Very authentic to rural France ,lovely example of life in the “slow lane” , sounds of animals and birds and running water - the internal water wheel grinding flour for home made bread and pasta was astonishing!
Cons: Nothing! Although access to a cold beer in a garden would have been nice after such a long drive ! ( no offence to the owners as I think they mentioned they were working on creating a bar )
Pros: Friendly welcome, excellent location in a restored mill,Nice large shower room ,fabulous view from the bedroom window, comfy bed, allowed my dog to stay in the room with me,plenty for breakfast
Cons: Would have liked a lock on my bedroom door, as this was one of four rooms let in the property, and i was travelling alone
Pros: Great location in beautiful village. Authentic mill house with working mill wheel.
Cons: Had expected some outside space for relaxing but there isn't any. Breakfast could have been better organised and was not consistent - what we had was good but on the last day for example there were glasses on the table but no juice or water - didn't like to keeping asking !
Pros: Visiting the surrounding areas
Cons: Room was basic. Breakfast was bread and jam and tea and coffee. Very poor.not recommended.
Pros: The accommodation is in a beautiful position and is an interesting building with a working mill. Beautiful bread and preserves made by the owners for breakfast
Cons: There is very little in the town itself - no restaurant, bars or banks. The door to the room I was in had no key and at times did not shut correctly - I had to place a bag behind the door at night.
Pros: It’s a working mill. Very beautiful location. Very nice owner.
When you stay at L'Escapade Maison d'Hôtes en Charente in Sainte-Severe, you'll be 13 minutes by car from Francois Ier Park. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Very quiet location with local restaurants about 6 miles away.
Pros: Lovely welcoming hosts very convenient for anyone going barging in Jarnac for an overnight stop
Pros: Lovely overnight stop before barging in jarnac hosts very welcoming and helpful with information
Cons: Rooms a bit small
Pros: They were relatively accommodating during the heat wave. They provided a fan.
Cons: The breakfast could have been better.
Pros: Location was good, with overlooking of the surrounding fields from the room, Owners were excellent, great conversation, good continental breakfast for which the owners were also very informative of destinations locally and with the Cognac region, would stay again in one of the Gites or larger rooms and will be recommending family to visit and stay in one of the aforementioned accommodations. Many thanks to the owners.
Cons: We did take all of our swimming gear, towels etc, to find that the pool was out of action, not a major problem, but we were expecting the facility and may have appreciated the heads up prior to packing the gear, but overall the room was comfortable, if a bit on the small size for a larger person but the Owners were excellent, possible suggest one of the Gites or larger rooms and check that the pool is available if you are expecting a swim.
Pros: Very clean and in good order. Good shower and comfortable bed. There was a pleasant outdoor seating area and plenty of parking space and secure cycle parking. The grounds were nicely manicured and the abundant lavender buzzed with bees and smelt lovely
Cons: Hosts did not introduce themselves though they were welcoming enough. There are printed signs all over the place with instructions on what and what not to do to a degree which is over the top. We deliberately left the windows open (first floor) to dry some washing we’d done and came back from town to find them closed. There was a very slim chance of shower but no real reason to be concerned over the weather. Odd and a tad intrusive.
Pros: Home from home experience, in a quiet location. Janet and Grant were great hosts. l would highly recommend staying here.
Cons: I liked everything. Charming hosts, beautiful property and countryside.
Pros: Very friendly reception from Grant and Janet. We arrived with a broken bicycle gear cable which could of delayed us for several days. Grant very kindly gave us a cable of his from an old bike of his which we managed to fit. Nice spacious clean rooms overlooking the vineyards, and short ride into attractive Jarnac for food.

Guests can also sample a traditional and seasonal home-cooked cuisine. Additional features include a bar, bicycle rental, free Wi-Fi access throughout and free public parking on site. Cognac and its famous distilleries are just a 20-minute drive away.
Pros: Very charming property, only minutes from Jarnac and Cognac.
Cons: The room was very tight, little room to even fit our suitcase.
Pros: I liked the fact that they had a large tree in the yard with tables underneath where you could eat dinner.
Cons: Didn't like the fact the owners were complaining about the work they do. The food wasn't up to muster.
Pros: The hosts, Nickie and Austin, were very welcoming and Nickie’s cooking was top notch.
Pros: Located in a quiet spot in the countryside, this hotel is run by a very friendly English couple. The restaurant meal was excellent as was breakfast.
Pros: A beautifully well maintained property and a truly delicious table d'hote
Pros: Very quiet, good food.
Cons: There were big webcobs in the bedroom (which did not prevent us from having a good night sleep).
Pros: Very chilled out, room was immaculate with a beautiful en-suite. Lovely pool on site too. Free Parking.
Cons: No issues at all. We only stayed for one night.
Pros: The family room was comfortable, and our dog made very welcome.
Cons: It’s a little tatty
Located in Bassac, Logis Hôtel l'Essille is a 1-minute drive from Abbey of Bassac and 8 minutes from Courvoisier. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The quiet location in a lovely village - and being able to enjoy some wonderful food (& service) in the Hotel's restaurant, made our short stay memorable. Thank you!
Pros: The hotel is very attractive in a beautiful little village. The room was comfortable and clean. Dinner was fantastic and very good quality, eaten on the out door terrace in the warm evening air. Very pleasant. It would have been nice to have had brakfast on the terrace too but because it was a weekend this was not an option.
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: Location and building
Cons: Resturant is expensive
