Availability of fridge and kitchenette in the room, good price, locked stroage for bicycles. Location a bit far from the station without a car, although a bus stop was available just outside the door,
We enjoyed the central location and the privacy that the hotel afforded. The staff were very helpful and it was quiet at night.
area it was in Breakfast not available early at 7.30and then couldnt check out at 8am
Good, cheap accommodation for a quiet break in summer/autumn. Surrounded by nice mountain views and friendly pubs and restaurants (so different from Paris!) The beds were quite hard, and although the room had a nice kitchenette there wasn't any basic supplied like dishwashing liquid or coffee sachets (but easily fixed by a trip to the supermarket)
Hotel in a excellent position, with off road parking. Staff did not turn up until we had to phone them.
Secure car parking was the reason we used this hotel and that was excellent. It was a gated car park underneath the hotel and and the car spaces were large enough to park a medium sized family car The room was relatively small and the kitchen facilities were very limited-there was no kettle and no large cups or mugs for drinks. There was a fridge and a 2 ring hob. When we stayed the temperature was in the 30's and the lack of airconditioning was a minus.
The attendant very kindly allowed us to check into the hotel before 16:00. The hotel was quiet and close to the downtown core. Hotels guests are not generally permitted to book in before 16:00h - a great inconvenience. The room was very dirty. There was no dishdetergent nor any dishclothes or dishtowels with which to clean dishes. The dishes were dirty. Hotel users are not likely to bring these items with them, and these should be provided.
Information about parking should be clearer because unless i understood incorrectly we were advised that our car with roof box would not fit so we had to leave it parked on the main road outside.
Comfort and good service To charge 18 euros for an ordinary breakfast of fruit juice, coffee and a piece of pastry is outrageous. We had to find alternatives elsewhere.
This is not a four star hotel. 3 stars would be more appropriate. The hotel rooms need refurbishing, furniture, carpet , are getting old . Wallpaper is coming off the waal.... Despite that is was a non-smoking room, the smell indicated heavy smoking in the room .
The location is good. But that's only the beginning, with hotels... The bed was the worst and most uncomfortable bed that we ever slept in, and the lady on reception didn't seem the slightest bit interested to hear about that. We checked out of the hotel and stayed another two nights in this town, but at another hotel.
Good location, plenty of secure parking and friendly front-desk staff. Getting served dinner after 830pm can prove very difficult. The restaurant serves until 10pm, however, because the restuarant is too small for the number of guests one is forced to wait a very long time to secure a table. For young children having to wwait can prove to be traumatic.
We only stayed 1 night but all staff were extremely nice and helpful particularly as I lost my mobile during our time there and they were most kind when I telephoned and they have posted it back to me.Thank you and we would most definitely stay again.
Very well located, close to the Congress Center. Free internet.
The beds were too firm
The building and rooms are a little old, minor details like painting not perfect an old TV, small indoor swimingpool, etc. But well located and excellent breakfast
For a wedding
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. It is not located in downtown but in a very nice location next to the lake and easily accesible to downtown. If I rated "facilities" as regular it was because of the reasons enumerated below. It is supposed to have free internet connection and that is one of the reason why I've choosen it. But the wifi didn't work during my 3 days of stay and it was a real nuisance for me as the main reason of my stay was to work. The minibar was not enough supplied and when I asked for it they told me that that could not happen until next day. So I had to buy drinks at the bar, which was quite more expensive.
Good sized rooms, and although a little old fashioned in decoration, they were very comfortable. I wish I'd had more time to try out the facilities as the pool etc. looked great Breakfast was a little disappointing - the tea and coffee were cold and the staff on duty not overly helpful. the option of a cooked breadfast would have been nice.
Fantastic location, wonderful views of mountains and lake, close to bars and restaurants, short drive into centre ville, rooms clean, large and comfortable, would definitely stay there again.
It was well situated at the side of the Lake. A marina was oposite which is entertaining for people who like boats. None
Free very secure underground car parking. Large spacious room with good sized balcony. Free room safety deposit box. Helpful reception staff who spoke good English. Contiental breafast was extra cost and extremely poor value with little choice. Hotel was clean but generally was in need of a face lift.
well situated near the lake, the restaurants. easy access to the town by car.hotel was quiet and very relaxing.
Pleasant Staff, good service
The hotel is a beautiful (chic, modern, clean, comfortable and on par with North Americans' relatively high expectations standards when it comes to hotel rooms) property located right on the lake/marina and away from the dowtown hustle and bustle. Signs to the hotel were posted in town, which made it relatively easy to find. The front desk staff were not particularly welcoming, friendly or helpful compared to most of the other hotels we stayed at. However, they were professional.
The leisure facilities ie pool etc
Very cosy hotel, situated just on the lake coast. Spa-center is very nice. The city center is not near, but the bus station is in 2 min. The breakfast is simple, but the dinner is one of the best in the city.
Friendly, luxurious great place to stay in a beatifull village.
Design, Top service. Everything was perfect. Its longtime I haven't fell so well in a hotel!!! No complaints at all.
A very elegant apartment, well planned and laid out with all sorts of gizmos - living flame gas fire, big screen TV, iPod, etc The apartment is not actually near the hotel. We arrived at a locked door with a note telling us to call them. They said they would be round to let us in in 15 minutes - we sat on the street till let in. The owner treated us as complete morons in expecting to be let in quicker. And was agresive towards us. Not a happy experience and left us disillusioned with he place, even though the apartment itself was very nice.
The restaurant was excellent. The hotel appears to be mostly a good restaurant with room attached. This is fine for a single overnight stay but not for three nights. The facilities in the room were poor - no tea/coffee facilities, no note paper, no room service etc. The attitude of the hotel staff left a lot to be desired. The attitude of the restaurant staff was, however, excellent.
Its location Breakfast
Room was large and well furnished with a spacious bathroom. Restaurant food was particularly good with an excellent, creative and innovative chef. One of the best meals we have eaten anywhere Difficult to find, final section of driveway hazardous, Room service drinks etc very expensive
staff for their help and assistance. Cost of dinner - more than the room. re question below - yes but don't eat.
We did not have much time to explore around the hotel or the facilities, the room was very comfortabel and quality of the bed was great. We did not stay for Breakfast but it seem little expensive at 20 Euro p.p for continantial breakfast.
Extremely good food, but expensive. Poor english spoken people. Very romantic room. We informed in before our engagement should be at the hotel during our stay. No "extra" from the hotel at all (glas of champagne, extra flowers at our table etc)
The restaurant was excellent. The welcome wasn't very friendly, but other staff were nice.
Had a great Time - stafdf was lovely - really appreciated the beatiful breakfast with a good choice - loved the poool too !! We will come back !! On a tout apprecie, l'hotel le staff , la petite piscine et aussi le cadre tres roimantique et très agreable !! Merci pour tout , ov va surmente raccomander votre Hotel Andrea - Italie
Beautitul hotel, great bathroom! Poor selection at breakfast, not great value for money at 15 euros. Facilities to make a drink in your room would have been nice. No shower.
20 Euros per person for the breakfast was far too much, more than 15 Euros can not be justified, also for such a hotel I also expected better foreign language skills.
The hotel was very convienently located opposite train station and was a short walk to the charming town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nice size and had everything you would need.
Efficient, practical, room clean and comfortable, buffet easy to access, garage convenient Pity there is no restaurant for dinner at the hotel, but room service was available and the restaurant outside was very close to the hotel, so it was not a major problem.
Location was great. Breakfast was not included.
Check-in took less than a minute. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and warm.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was excellent. My wife would have liked tea making facilities in the room.
Close to train station I felt prices of meals especially breakfast and drinks was too high
Nice big room. Good place opposite the train station.
Design, decocaration. It is really beautiful and in city centre. That staff does not speak English.
Very central with secure parking, helpful staff, comfortable and welcoming reception area Our room was very small with a small double bed even though it was furnished attractively in alpine style. Breakfast basic, should have been part of the room price. Only one small lift.
Central location, ease of booking No
The location of the hotel was very good. I thought our room was adequate but fairly expensive for the standard. Plenty of hot water but the bathroom was in great need of refurbishment. I found the bed uncomfortable.
Nice hotel right in the centre of the town
Excellent location right in the city center of Chambéry -- main attractions and the old city is right at the doorstep of the hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff. Not expensive, great for a city trip weekend!
A pleasant, traditional feel and ambiance, combined with good facilities and very friendly staff. Really good lack of a restaurant
Location Yes. One of our rooms was infested with cockroaches. The bathroom smelled unpleasantly.
Although receptionstaff were friendly and helpful, our stay was spoiled by the attitude of the staff at breakfast where we got the distinct impression that we were not specially welcome,
Wonderful charm. Free internet use on hotel computer. Highly recommended.
This is a good place to spend the night if you passes by Chambery. Do not spend time searching for resturants in the town Chambery. We were there at a sunday and hardly found any places to eat. It is better to use the hotel restaurant. They have a WI FI net at the hotel. Maybe the hotel personall should try to speak a little english.
This is an ideal location for a one night stay. The evening meal and the breakfast were both good.
Clean and conveneant and not too expensive
The room was nicely warm for our arrival on a cold night. The secure parking, (the gates are locked at night). The hotel is undergoing modernisation in certain areas, chiefly the restaurant area which appeared to affect the choice available for breakfast.
Quiet and pleasant. Good staff No
Good bed size restaraunt on site easy to find kettle in room No cnn, or other english channels on tv some road noise
clean, comfortable - perfect for a stopover on way to ski resort
Friendly staff - very clean hotel - good value for money Not easy to find - directions on the booking information should be better - location is not good - you need to stay on site or drive to find a good restaurant - but the the theme of Campanile
The reception desk staff were excellent The restaurant staff were awful. We were shown to our table then ignored for 20 minutes while people who came in after us were served drinks & had their orders taken. We left & found a very nice restaurant in the town centre.
We enjoyed a restful and relaxed stay at this modern, comfortable hotel. Reception was extremely helpful, speaking perfect English and our room was spacious, very clean and well decorated. We look forward to our next visit in 2011.
Very efficient for business purposes. Right size of room and quite. Located near the industrial area but also at short distance of Chambery. Service as it should be, nice people!
Decor and bathroom, location
Room and price
Superb position beside the lake and ready access to a number of good restaurants. Good bathroom.
Nice little hotel to stay in, and in summer would be lovely just about beside the lake.
The hotel was used soley as a one night stop-over with late arrival. Not an ideal stay for a review Romm and bathroom were well furnished with pleasant attractive and out of the ordinary decor. Bathroom was well equipped but shower arrangement was impractical causing some flooding
Good location, close to the lake and restaurant. Easy to get to (10 minutes by taxi from train station)
Room is small. It was noisy in the morning due to the nearby street.
Small, welcoming hotel
A super deal in every respect-we would go again
There was a fine atmosphere at the reception when we came, and that lastet during all our stay. We appriciate that.
Could not buy a snack, very impersonal
The staff were very friendly and the room was quiet. I would not class this Mercure as 4 star. It is very tired, and quite a way from both the lake and the city. The food was very average.
Clean and welcoming. Cot provided automatically (although we indicated that we would bring our own) at no charge. Good stopover hotel. Swimming Pool included in information, but costs 10 EUR person/day. Description generous - playing fields and busy (noisy) road adjacent. Quite a way from both lake and town.
Good location, spaceful room. I brought my swimsuit for spa, but they did not allow me to wear it, and forced us to buy sandal according to their rule.. so finally it costed more than 30 Euro/person just to enter spa area! You had better check their rule before going. Room maintainence and restaurant are poor for four-star hotel.
i have stayed in Aix Les Bains before but always in the centre of town. this hotel is a further out and a lot quieter as it is back from the main road, so for peaceful stay this is a very good hotel.
It wasn't the easiest hotel to find
We booked the hotel for 2 nights, but could stand it only for one (extremely noisy location, no condition, bad chemical smell). The personnel was nice and understanding and refunded us the second nice (and paid some compensation!). So we moved to Villa Marlioz 5 min away, which is lovely! I would keep only the seconf part of this hotel (ARIANA 4*), and simply close this one, as it is not suitable for holidays
The personnel were friendly. The restaurant service in the sister hotel was friendly but very much cafeteria quality. We were served by five different staff. The minute you were finished your course your next course was served by another member of staff with no time to relax between courses.. The overall experience in the restaurant was appalling. I feel qualified to make these comments as I have had and run my own rerestau
Confortable room- nice to extend your journey if you like for a special price The staff is not speaking English fluently- the use of the facilities should be for free for the customers of the hotel and open also in the evening
no problems the hotel was resonable price clean & friendly. walking distance from aix town centre. restaurant overpriced
Nice clean hotel with good parking facilities, Key to our decision to stay here. Food in resataurant was very poor. Waited almost an hour for main course and was then hard (Duck). Waiters do not speak English either.
Nice clean hotel but How many hotels in this day and age do not have a restaurant or bar This hotel is obviously a summer hotel. It needs to maintain its standards all year round
Restaurant was good. Room was not as good as expected, and not as good as web suggested.
no clock in the wellness area, WiFi too expensive.
Staff were pleasant, helpful in storing our bikes securely.Breakfast was good value. No airconditioning so stifling hot all day and all night. Electrical fire meant no swimming pool/ spa and no restaurant bar during our stay (no discount) which was poor.
Peace and quiet n/a
The hotel did not offer any non smoking rooms. The room we stayed in stank of stale smoke and no alternative was available. The pool was pleasant but lack of changing rooms was inconvenient. At breakfast, by 8.30, the croissants had run out managed to serve some more 15 minutes later! see above.
The food was generally very good. The pool was lovely too Some unpleasant teenagers in the pool on the Saturday evening who spoilt the relaxing atmosphere. The food was good except for the vegetables. Regards question 4, I'm not sure if we are a young couple (probably not at nearly 50) but I didn't like to have to select mature couple!
Its a nice hotel, nothing special. Cause of a fire the swimmingpool and other spa facilities arent open. Grund floor/reception is very nice modern and clean. Room could use an upgrade.
Very comfortable and clean, extremely good value for money. Underground garage available. Pet friendly. Quiet although in the center of the town. Very rich breakfast. Deserves four stars.
No tea/coffee making facilities
The room was lovely and nicely decorated, with a huge comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Nice gardens outside. Very good value for the price and I would definitely stay there again. It is not in the centre of Aix les Bains but this is reflected in the price. It is a two minute drive, in a residential area..
Lovely garden. Very French old-style hotel design- great if you don't like the uniformity of most hotels. The most comfortable bed we had on our week long road trip- with duvet instead of the blankets everywhere else. Breakfast looked to be just a cold buffet so we gave it a miss and drove to the port for a cafe breakfast.
Good retaurant: good pool; helpful staff Hotel in need of updating bedrooms and in particular the bathrooms - hand held showers over a bath which don't stretch far enough to enable you to stand while showering not really enough these days. Much further out of town than had realised. Only just walkable in daylight: a car or taxi was needed otherwise to get to the port, the lake or the town centre.
Very nice hotel with beautiful garden. Very good price- quality ratio. Location is good if you are driving. Lack of air conditioning can be a problem when the weather gets really warm. Communication was not always easy as I dont speak French
Peaceful and quiet. Good food, friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant, restful setting. No complaints.
Evening meal was excellent
We had requested a quiet part of the hotel and they assigned us a great room in the back overlooking the garden. The room was immaculate, beds good and it was very quiet. A bit difficult to find, but easy in and out of town.
The staff were very welcoming. The restaurant provided a varied selection on the menu and food was well prepared and beautifully presented. The swimming pool area was kept clean and there were plenty of chairs etc for relaxing. The bathroom was very small. A kettle for tea/coffee making, and a fridge would be a welcome addition, but I realise space is an issue.
Not as close to the lake as it appered frmthe information and on a main road.
Nice people, the place is calm, tha garden is very romantic
Excellent location - holiday was part of following the Tour De France None
The family that own the hotel are very friendly and helpful. I don't know if they can speak English, as I spoke French. I found the hotel great value for money (55 euros/night) and I was very comfortable there. If you want a four star hotel go to a four star hotel. If you want a nice place to stay with friendly staff and you don't mind if everything's not absolutely perfect, come here.
Good clean hotel, friendly staff.
Parking at the hotel and waling distance to to centre Breakfast finished at 9,00am but on holiday we want it till 10,00am usual in almost all hotels
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room was good value and had a beautiful view of the Notre Dame church and surroundings and the location was excellent. The only bad points I can think of were that the shower water wasn't quite hot enough and neither was the heater. A T.V. station in english would have been good too.
The central but quiet location, very friendly staff, free private parking. Breakfast too expensive (we hadn't it because of the price); very small bed (but all French beds are small): if possible better ask for a room with twin beds. No air con in the rooms. The hotel would need some renewals.
The acommodation is situated in an old abbey which gives it a unique setting in beautiful surroundings.
Large room; very polite and helpful staff. Will return there if we return to Aix-les- Bains. Breakfast price is too expensive, so we ate out.
