The location was just where we needed to be. The front desk was very professional and helpful.
Location is central: close to the railway station, but far enough not to hear and see those people grouping near the station. Also very close to tourist office, old town and Hotel de Ville (just in front). The room was great - spacious, with a comfortable sofa in front of tv, a desk, enough room to even have a morning gymnastics)). It was very quiet which is definitely a plus! Beautiful lobby. The price af breakfast 18 euros is too high.
Location is fantastic, and the hotel staff friendly and helpful
Style of the hotel especially the bedroom. The availabilty of the garage eas a bonusu No
Staff - very friendly and helpful
Superb staff - some of the friendliest I´ve encountered. Breakfast finished at 10; restaurant closed on sundays (!)
Centrally located and very pleasant surroundings
Great staff. Great location. Seems to be run down and needs a face-lift internally.
The hotel is right in the centre of Tours so very convenient for sight-seeing, restaurants and shopping. It is also close to the train and bus stations. It was clean and comfortable. Parking is very limited - there is a public carpark nearby but it was very full and we were lucky to get a space. The room we had was comfortable but being at the top of the hotel, it was dark with only one small window - a draw back on a sunny day.
Very easy to find - great location. Very nice staff.
The hotel room is newly renovated. It located very close to the Train Station (within 10 minutes walk) and the shopping centre (within 3 minutes walk) of Tours.
The breakfast and some of the staff. However, staff with little English were sullen and sometimes rude. Rude staff, particularly in the restaurant. My wife had a tea bag thrown onto the table after dinner
Hotel staff are helpful with information about direction to the local places, restaurants. There is a free computer available for customers to use in the lobby of the hotel. Bathroom is small and uncomfortable to use. They should provide free hotel parking instead of charging customers.
Directions to hotel very poor
very pleasant staff good value for money
No air conditioning is aproblem
WLan is included. The staff is very friendly. 5 km far from the next restaurant. A little dirty, but enough for one night.
Easy to find, good value breakfast, friendly staff Rooms very close to the function room so unacceptable noise for a lot of the night as there was a function in progress.
The size of the room and the cleanliness were very good
THe family room is very spacious and large. The hotel is perfect for either a stop over on the way to other places or as a place to stay for visting the surrounding areas.
Staff is very nice and friendly (especially that they were serving dinner and doing reception). Rooms are clean and reasonable size. Is a very good hotel for 2 stars. It is not in the center of the town (there are restaurants very close, and the prices displayed do not include tax) but for us it was a very good location in exploring the Loire valley.
Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Food was excellent, the service provided was professional and polite. Questions asked were answered accurately. The coice at breakfast was limited
Restaurant staff very friendly, comfortable room and really enjoyed pool/spa facilities Booked the hotel to attend conference in the centre of Tours - Mercure Tours Sud is relatively far from the town centre and taxis forming only transport.
Room was excellent, large bed, nice bathroom/shower, very comfortable. Restaurant was good with a good selection of food and wine. Outside patio area was a bit shabby, needs some updating
The room was large and very comfortable. The room was very clean and the tea making facilities were a nice surpise. The indoor swimming pool/ sauna and steam room was a very relaxing. The restaurant provided great meals and service.
The Chateau and grounds were gorgeous and we felt like we had been transported to another world. We stayed in the pavillion which was not inside the chateau itself, but an adjoining building about a 1 minute walk from it. We ate in the restaurant and had some lovely food there, skilfully prepared local treats. Although our room was very nice, it would have been nicer to stay in the chateau itself. Isnt that why you stay in a chateau? If you read this and plan to stay there, then make sure you get a room in the chateau itself and not the pavillion. The rooms were the same price anyway, so I wish id realized earlier and I would have made sure to ask!
Peaceful setting. Food not as good as we had on a previous visit. Room was on small side but very clean and comfortable.
The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning gave us an excellent nights sleep. The chateau is beautiful from the outside in a lovely peaceful locaton. Good, safe parking. The room was very disappointing. We expected a lovely, luxury room like the pictures but we were in the pavilion which was seperate from the main house. The room, especially the bathroom, smelt funny and the bed-spread was clearly dirty. The decor was very tired and not what you'd expect from a quite expensive chateau. The gardens were immaculately maintained and the main chateau looked beautiful but our room was very disappointing especially as we'd booked it for the last night of our holiday as a treat and some of our less expensive hotels had offered a lot more and been a lot cleaner.
Beautiful setting, very quiet, best restaurant in comparison with eight others of similar standing tried during the week. Good quality overall and reasonably priced. receptionist is rather cold, which contrasts with the friendly staff at the restaurant
Top Class Hotel within lovely setting, very comfortable with top quality food and service.
The room in which we stayed was perhaps the best in the hotel, which also showed in the price (165 e). It was large, recently renovated and luxurious. The restaurant was very good, and the prices were reasonable given the overall quality. There was no swimming pool, which was a big disappointment on a hot July day. In the garden, there was no place to sit down. In the terrassa next to the restaurant, there were horrible white plastic garden furniture, which did not fit with the style of the château. Wifi did not work properly in our room.
Very good rooms and breakfast. Do not be put off as you approach the hotel because it looks small and in a back street. It is actually large and in the heart of the city (5 mins walk). Would love to go back to Tours and would definitely stay here again. Watch the car park - it fills up and space is very tight for manoevering - be first in and last out :)
The great location to the city centre and near Tours railway station. The staff was helpful and free use of the internet.
Excellent breakfasts and very helpful staff, especially the receptionists The shower tended to spray over the bathroom floor.
Good hotel with reasonable price. Very nice breakfast, close to the train station.
Our room was warm, quiet and comfortable. The hotel was in a side street very close to the station, but not affected by noise from it. Being on the fourth floor, there was a small balcony in the mansard; although the view was only of roof-tops, this might have been beneficial in warmer weather. Access to the lift was easy, and there was a spacious reception and breakfast area. There was a wide range of choices at the buffet. The dark decor in the room would not be to everyone's taste. Be warned - we were unable to use the underground car-park because of the restricted headroom. On enquiring, we were told that it was 2m, but our vehicle at 1.97m certainly would not fit, and so we were obliged to feed a fairly greedy parking meter a short walk from the hotel.
Nice hotel, very easy to find and convenient. Staff pleasant and good parking The air conditioning wasn't working
Helpful staff with onward booking confirmation etc. Street noise from apartments opposite, so we had to use double glazing to sleep
The hotel is located not far from train station and a short walk away from the town centre which is great
Found the hotel very central with easy access to tourist office shops and restaurants. found directions to hotel not quite exact it would have been handy to know that the train station was beside the hotel & would have been much easier to find. Tea and coffe facilites in the room would also be a great idea.
It has a garage and it has wifi (but ... read on) The location is way too far from the cute city center. The hotel has wifi, but to get a password you need to register with your e-mail address and then check your mail before you get access (duh!). The girl at the desk didn't really seem to see the problem, but eventually just gave me a password.
Excellent safe parking Very basic
Within walking distance of old town centre (10-15 minutes). The room was small and in need of repainting, the carpets old and smelly. It is generally in need of refurbishing from the ground up. Not cheap as breakfast is extra at 8,50€ per head.
good location, fair cost
Good value for money. Good location for city centre. Good parking facilities. Rather tired decor
Convenient to locate; secure parking; lift to all floors Further from the most interesting (touristique) parts of Tours than we had realised; lift does not descend to basement car-park
Only 5 to 7 minutes walks to the old part of Tours.
The secure garage and the helpful receptionist. Only that on the night we were there the restaurant was closed for a function.
The location. You can walk to the city centre from the hotel. Very handy for visiting. We had booked a doiuble bed and ask for a double bed rather than twin beds. We got twin beds pushed beside each other, at every move, they were moving. Not very comfortable. The price for car park - 7 euro - Thankfully you can park for free in the area.
No facility for storing soap & shampoo in the shower. Toilet seat wrong size therefore constantly moved around.
Clean, always good to be able to say that, comfortable, good value for money, convenient location for town centre, helpful staff.
The access to WI-FI is only at the reception but not at the rooms. The noise from TGV is "something"...
Tours! Great Location, Breakfast pretty good value and decent offering, Once you accept the basics the room and the amenities facilities etc. are fair. Housekeeping in Tours was good and efficient. Parking was good too and the Five Euros spent for the basement was well spent. On arrival we found that one of our rooms was not booked even though I had received the conformation e mail just that day. The young lady in reception could not find the third room booking, but she was very helpful. a room was given for the night at Mercure whose receptionist was seriously in need of some friendly training. She was grumpy and rude and we think she just had a bad day for which our friends were the victims a Receptionist later in the day Some telephone system on each floor even since it is not possible in rooms. In case you have an emergency there is nothing in your hotel after the receptionist leaves, no telephone no connection no nothing. windows! It was seriously hot int he rooms and we could do nothing to open the window which only opened two inches or so. I know that the railway tracks make lots of noise which is why you must have two double glazed windows, but if only this can be opened a bit to get in more ventilation.
Close to the station Unkind staff
Clean, good location, wifi only in lobby and it closed early evening
Best price offered ever matching perfectly for all backpackers! Not actually, but, we expect if the hotel'd provide guests more facilities as well as something's like the bathroom stuffs, that would be better!
Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff
Had good quality bikes for rent, staff was helpful and friendly, other than bar, public spaces very nice. Just over 1 km walk into town from hotel. Expensive breakfast not included in room charge. Better rates, including breakfast, available for walk up customers.
THe location, ideally suited for walking and exercising a dog. The room was a little basic, a kettle with tean and coffee making would have been a good and welcome addition.
Liked the pool for children and the adjoining rooms as we are a large family of 2 adults and 4 children. Given our need to book 2 rooms the cost was more than i would like or to encourage me to stay longer. Also the lack of bar facilities was frustrating as the adjoining hotels/restreaurants would not allow us to have a dring without purchasing food.
I had a very pleasant stay in the hotel, breakfast was excellent
The Swimming Pool was ideal for the children, as it was indoor and the weather was not too warm. It was a little bit pricey for a 2* hotel at about £110 per night just to sleep 4 in a very small space and a Continental Breakfast. The Campanile, right next door was about £30 cheaper.
Clean and comfortable rooms, ideal for a short stay, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast to suit most tastes.
Good location for visiting castles. There is a lac nearby, very nice for morning jogging.
We did not stay long enough to form an opinion one way or another. It was convenient for visiting the chateaux in the area and easy to reach Tours.
Secure car parking
Helpful Friendly staff. Good accommodation. Air con. Secure parking with gates. None
Excellent hotel with family rooms. Small swimming pool that the children enjoyed. Minutes from a lake/park recreational area.Parking on site. Couple of restaurants close on hand. Excellent access to motorway and the loire activities and sites. Breakfast OK. Gets full marks for staff as they complimented me on my French (!) but their English was better. Great place for a few nights if exploring the Loire area. It's location is about 10 Km south of Tours centre so you need a car but Tours has the one way system from hell so getting in and out of Tours was an issue (definately need a car for this hotel). It was fine for us as we were exploring the Loire and for this it is well placed. For a weekend in exploring Tours I would suggest somewhere central and forget the car!
The quality of the room, his space and commodities. Has no lift.
you pay for what you get.It was functional. No drink making facilities
iy was a greay hotel for a stop over the directions on yhe internet were poor
Clean rooms. No noice from street. Good for staying just one night. Booked an extra bed but this message was not seen by the staff. We got immediately an extra room next to our room! Rooms have had there best time. Air conditioning inside the room with a tube outside the open window.
Good location for starting a visit the castles of Loire Valley
Excellent, near train station if that is useful. Very good sized room.
New hotel well appointed with clean comfortable rooms, small bar open till late, staff spoke good English, well appointed breakfast room and facilities. Car parking was charged.
The hotel was comfortable, close to the train station, and within walking distance to the heart of Tours. Breakfast was very expensive.
Excellent breakfast and easy car parking. The hotel was at a fixed temperature. It was hard to cool the room because if you opened the window it was very noisy as the train station is very close to the hotel.
convenient parking, quick and easy booking in, maps of Tours noisy room (railway behind). Room needs updating. Can't have shower without soaking floor. room carpet dirty and stained - needs replacing. Smell of cigarette smoke in coridoor.WiFi didn't work. Personal message in envelope left on bed was stained.
Convenient parking. Reasonable value. A bit away from the old town.
A beautiful chateau in a beautiful location. Nothing
Beautiful chateau/rooms/space/countryside and quiet. Excellent food.Professionally managed. It took over 1/2 hour to get our wine opened even whilst our 1st course meal was served on the table. The sommelier ignored us deliberately whilst he bigmouthed/chatted about himself to other tables with the focus on him not customer service. We were very upset by this attitude.
The hotel has beautiful public areas that can be viewed by all. The staff are extremely friendly and charming. The restaurant did not meet my levels of expectation; I did not feel that I got value for money and the atmosphere was strained. The degustation in the cellar was an extreme disappointment- 3 tastes of mediocre local wine that was limited to still white and did not reflect the area's potential.
Services at the restaurant as well as at the bar were disappointing. The bar was too noisy for such an "expected" atmosphere.
Decor was attractive, staff helpful, setting nice. I thought dinner in the restaurant was a little over priced, considering that we were able to find other restaurants within a few miles of similar quality with lower prices.
Lovely location Excellent restaurant great breakfast good helpful staff Pillows could be better
The room was lovely, with fantastic views. The staff were superb and dinner amazing.
Lovely location and building. Room was finewith a large, comfortable bed. The food was well cooked and nicely presented. The practice now in France (but not in Paris) whereby one has to order desert at the start of a meal.
The room and grounds were beautiful With a few notable exceptions the staff was unfriendly to the point of rudeness. They would ignore you when you came in, never smile, and were outright rude if you asked a question that made them actually work. I asked for a receipt showing that I paid at the end rather than one showing an outstanding balance and they refused!!
I thought your Chateau was gorgeous and well manicured I thought your breakfast buffet was lacking with only one hot item--eggs and the selection of pastries was fair, no availability to order from a menu. In addition, we ordered room serice of pasta and salad. The pasta portion was very soft and inedible. Because of this room service we chose to not eat dinner at the chateau.
All staff were very friendly, and willing to help
easy to find, good room The resturant staff were very unprofessional ,rude and did not make myself or my 7 guest very welcome, we arrived at about 2000 hours and it became obvious that the resturant staff didn't want to work any later!
Everything was good. The staff spoke good English and as with a lot of French hotels we did NOT get that sense of being unwelcome because we were English. There was very little to fault. If anything the prices are a bit on the high side but the quality is certainly there. We would certainly use this hotel again.
excelent value for money - great evening food.........great breakfast ( but a bit expensive at 12.50 euros.) ............. need better directions to locate hotel - but receptionis t excelent at directing us to the building - !!!
Friendly staff, clean room, nice selection of breakfast.
Nice clean comfortable room with good size bed Not much in the way of seating. Two nice armchairs would have made all the difference
Staff were really friendly even though we arrived really late. Good breakfast and great location for touring the Loire. Good range of information with in hotel about surrounding chateaux. Also useful map on ale from reception.
Drunken guests screaming in restaurant, foyer & rooms went unchecked by staff. No sound insulation - you can hear guests in room above going to the toilet! We got up & left at 4.00 am. Staff ignored noise and were disinterested in our complaint. Room was utterly basic, grubby and the bed uncomfortable. We paid £75 for the night (breakfast not included) & £11 for 1 beer & 1 small wine
Quiet location and close to motorway. Too expensive for standard of rooms and especially for meals
This was the first time we had used Mercure and it was superb, we shall definitely use them again. We ate outdoors in the lovely outdoor space and the staff were so friendly. We had booked the wrong date, and yet they immediately found us a nice room and away from where we might have been disturbed by a wedding party.
Excellant restaurant Over priced compared with other accomodation in the Loire.
Everything I expected from the website: a very impressive building, delightful grounds, very attentive staff, a comfortable room and an excellent restaurant. None
Peace, calm, lovely staff, location, and beauty of chateau and gardrns Food
Fabulous experience. The staff were so helpful & friendly. The bedroom decor and fitting are of a high quality. The food in the restraunt was firs class as ws the service Shower screen was not ideal - got the floor wet, but tha was it!
The unusual accommodation, the ambiance, the restaurant, and the beautiful crocuses flowering in the hotel grounds. the quality of the shower in our room.
The Domaine was a beautifully situated chateau with large, comfortable rooms, a great restaurant and very friendly staff who provided great service. Only quibble is that breakfast was quite overpriced.
# Restaurant excellent - menu, quality, staff and service. # Hotel staff pleasant and helpful. # Convenient location for exploring the Loire Valley region, close - by car - to Tours, airport, train station, main chateaux etc. # Limited drinks range in hotel bar. # Lack of atmosphere and facilities meant an evening in the hotel/bar not a realistic alternative to travelling to town (which requires driving) # Lack of full room service facility. # Rooms (in outbuilding), while clean are somewhat tired and in need of overhaul and updating # Insufficient car parking spaces meant footpaths and public areas were full with parked cars.
The location. the building. the breakfast. the staff. the fires the view No kettle in the room to make tea and coffee. Hairdryer not strong enough
It was like stepping into a romance novel. The room and the view of the Loire Valley was superb! The cuisine was some of the most enjoyable "gastronomique" that we have tasted. Coming during late September we got a glimpse of the fall foliage. Outstanding! Easy access to all the other chateaux of note. We are eager to return.
Location is good and easy to find. Compared to big city's hotel is cheap. Both the night shift and morning shift staff are not really nice and friendly, that is Dec 22nd night and Dec 23th morning. Room is not really designed for 3 people stay, they just added an small bed at the conrner.
great central location, very clean rooms and bathrooms, good size! overall very pleasant. the water pressure kept alternating in the shower.
It's situated just in front of the train station.
Location - more or less in City centre nothing
The chef special evening meal was excellent value, and tasted good as well. The staff in the resturant were also very friendly and attentive.
Excellent location, right near the main railway station, and a very modern, comfortable room. The breakfast was over-priced and we only ate there once.
The hotel has a great location! Very close to tgv station, and to the center of the city. The bedroom is big and confortable. The bathroom is very clean. Love it! The staff was not very helpful with our difficult to park our car ( $e 10/day), and it was hard to comunicate in english.
Excellent location - close to the city center and the railway. Very comfortable room. Excellent value for money Internet services way too expensive for nowadays (when such services should already be like TV or radio).
The location is great, right by Hotel the Ville Room was a little too small, though comfortable
easy to get to from A10; food available on site; menu in English was same prices as in French (another chain it wasn't!) should have been advised to book a table for the evening meal
Leaving was the best bit. It was over-priced and offered nothing. The room was small, cramped and airless, smokers frequenting balcony outside rooms made non-smoking rooms a joke. Noisy. Fan in bathroom didn't work.
Friendly approachable staff most of whom spoke English, easy parking, restaurant, good sized room, complimentary tray, WIFI,close to the motorway and some shops, and for me personally it is close to Trousseau hospital. I would prefer to pay for WIFI and have a secure site but this is a minor detail.I always choose to stay in a Campanile hotel if possible when I am in France as I like Campanile very much.
Had a comfortable overnight stay on our way home to the UK. It had every facility we needed. Will use again
Just about everything, but in particular the friendly and helpful staff, the character of the hotel and its location. One thing: although our room was pleasant, comfortable and had a lovely view, the location of the toilet in a 'cupboard' right next to the bed (rather than in the bathroom, as is usual) was not really acceptable.
it was close to main shoping area and the old town, staff were helpful, but we still had a language problem. our room was on the small size, we expected larger as we were staying 4 nights. it is a small hotel, as a result there was very little guest activity, also it is a nice walk from the railway station.
The location, comfort, cost and assistance offered by staff
Good location and helpful staff The dining / breakfast room has seen [much] better days. Go out for breakfast and find a nice boulangerie /cafe.
Staff were very welcoming, the hotel was ideally located and very comfortable Parking was not easy at the moment as building works are taking place especially as a charge of 10 euros was made, also the breakfast was fairly ordinary
convenience and location bathrooms could be a little fresher
Well located, beautiful view of the whole town and of the cathedral from our bedroom window.
friendly and helpful staff. information readily given.
Difficult to find for tourists not familiar with the city.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpfull. Checking in and out was simplicity itself. Staff were very knowledgable about places of interest and restaurants etc. Breakfast charges were quite high per person when a local cafe/bar could provide the same for a quarter of the price.
