All o.k. Difficult to find, not well signposted from main road.
Position of hotel and access to autoroute and roads to the coastal areas. Lack of seats for relaxing outdoors in the sun. Only area with seats outdoors was mostly in the shade alongside the restaurant
Excellent staff, comfortable bed and WiFi availability Design of room very poor.
Dining facilities and food were good There was a kettle but no tea/coffee and biscuits as stated in the room brochure, however we were brought tea/coffee when we requested some.
Didn't realise it was a motel very close to a motorway
Good for a night, the room is small, but has what you need. Clean, and good with handtowels and bathtowels. It's possible to buy something to drink/eat. Like the security in nights, there is a gate with a code. And free internet. Very difficuelt to find the hotel when there's no streetname, number.
I was glad to be on the lowest level. As an older person with luggage - that was very welcome. The food and the servers were both appreciated.
Staff were helpful and polite. Restaurant was comfortable and food fresh and well prepared The room was grubby and the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom. The heating in the room was not working.
Friendly service of the staff, location to the main route, clean and tidy.
Friendly welcome. After long drive being able to get a hot drink and biscuit in the room. Heating if required both in the room and bathroom independantly. Lovely even soft but firm mattress beds and clean pillows.
Superb town centre location, great ambience, well presented and decorated rooms. You need to be fit and healthy if staying on the top floor as a lot of stair climbing required,
Right, slap bang in the centre of Dinan within easy walking distance of all the main restaurants and sights. Ideal for sightseeing. Nice attic room. Lots of stairs.
It was a wonderful location, right inside the medieval city, next to the old clock tower and city ramparts. You could walk to everything. there was a small kitchenette in our triple which woul be very useful for someone on a budget or with small children. The hostess, Catharine, was lovely and welcoming. It is located on a small alley which cuts through to the clock tower. Voices in the alley echo and they were very loud up until about 1AM. A small map on the website showing the easiest way to walk from the large municipal parking lot to the hotel would also be useful. We walked the long way in the dark with our luggage in the pouring rain. the next day we found a simple pedestrian doorway that led right to the parking lot.
The hotel is situated in the heart of Dinan, easy walking distance from the local town sights. The staff were exceptionally friendly and made us feel very welcome. All in all a nice small family run hotel. The resturant attached to the hotel serves up good quality food. No lift which means if you are on the top floor there is a lot of stairs to climb with your cases. No private parking leaving you to park on the town square. Breakfast was uninteresting, continental only and not much choice.
The staff were very friendly, and we had a very pleasant stay. The room itself, for what we got was quite expensive, but was good. The rooms being cleaned at a certain time was something I was not used to and put a schedule each day on myself and my partner.
Best feature: absolutely smack-dab in the heart of the most charming historic center in France (that I know of), for a reasonable (for France, that is) price
The location (city center) and the charm of the hotel. The staff, although not large, gave excellent service and attention to the guests.
excellent location but think carefully about the name! The clock chimes from 7.00am but is silenced during the night No parking but parking close by in the main square
The room was clean and the bathroom spacious. The hotel was ideally situated in terms of being in easy reach of restaurants and bars. We were looking for property and found most areas easily accessable from Dinan. The original room allocated, family room on ground floor, we felt was unacceptable. It was smaller than the triple room we were subsequently offered, the kitchen area was not as described, it was impossible to erect the chairs round a table to eat. The room was very dark and cold and the bathroom was too small for 4 people.
our family room was not in the main building of the hotel - it had glass doors opening directly into public passageway which was noisy at night. Would only recommend if in main hotel
Nobody bothering you
Good price for a reasonable room Several errors on the Bill.
I would like to have gone nude in the spa, and you did have a sauna at one time but that was removed.....I was looking forward to this also.
From the moment we arrived all the young staff were, not only polite, but very friendly. The dinner was excellent and we even had an extra compementary starter which they were trying out for customer comments. Our lovely room, although at the side of the hotel, was peaceful and overlooked the River Rance - our "alarm call" was from the ducks in the morning! Even though we had officially booked out 10 minutes earlier, the lass on reception couldn't do enough for us in helping us to use our wi-fi and to fax information back to our immobilier in Guingamp, when he telephoned to say that the offer on our house purchase had been accepted. She even brought us coffee.
Very friendly, welcoming and cosy We would prefer a more flexible breakfast tariff as a cup of coffee and piece of toast would be nice - but not for 14 euros
Nice location, friendly staff Nothing
Sky tv, good clean towels and toiletries, nice comfortable bar
Clean comfortable hotel with good restaurant and well located in Dinan Port
The warm welcome and friendly staff The mattress on the bed was uncomfortable
The room and the location of the hotel was excellent
Cleanliness. Our room was directly over the kitchen and cooking smells went on well into the evening.
location - excellent in town centre close to everything. The room and bathroom were very nice. Breakfast not included in price of room
Perfect position in the center of town. Nice view. We had a family apartments with two bedrooms, comfortable bathroom, easy wi-fi access.
Our room (24) was a generous size, and had a view onto the square. Breakfast was self-service but we also had the option of either a fried egg or omelette - a nice extra. The staff were friendly and offered good advice on where to eat in Dinan.
Nice stylish place, really good restaurant. Free parking a block away behind the castle.
location to city, room was functional and big enough for a short stay, good price and quiet the view from the room was poor butno issue for 2 nights but, the shower was v small with very big taps
the position of the hotel was excellent, with access to restaurants and the city first class
Exceedingly helpful, friendly staff to guests with bikes.
Excellent location for the centre of Dinan.
It was very peaceful and the location was what I was looking for The standard of cleanliness was poor, the swimming pool was cold, and needed a clean. The second swimming pool was full of decaying frogs and mice. Definately not good value for the price I paid
Fantastic location, great room - fabby spa bath, amazing food and attentive service - altogether first class!! loved everything!!
Abeautiful place with old charm and drama. Walks form hotel were good. Decor was querky and unique. Really comfortable beds and very clean. the family room was perfect with 2 young children. The swimming pool needed to be warmer and the tennis court needs looking after.
Outside the hotel looks nice The room we had was damp ! It was dirty, the chairs had rips in them, the blankets were very old,the sheets were very thin,a tile had fallen off the bathroom wall, paint had come off the tap in the bedroom. Outside the swimming pool had green algae hanging from the roof inside and one of the glass doors was just propped up against the door frame at the side of the pool.
A beautiful setting near to lovely beaches. The family suites we stayed in were a little shabby considering the price. We had booked an ajoining room but were given two separate rooms which we didn't want. The hotel staff were nice but not particularly accommodating.
Very relaxed atmosphere in a photogenic setting of a 14th century Chateau! Room was large with tapestry on wall above very comfortable ( but low) bed. Bathroom very quaint but everything worked! We only had dinner once during our stay, as we wanted to sample other establishments in the area. Restaurant in the luxury class, with immaculate service, good food and extensive if rather expensive wine list. The half bottles are hidden at the back of the wine list!! (You can also order house wine by the glass as well.) Swimming pool was very good, did not sample any of the other hotel facilities. WiFi ( weak signal) worked only in public areas. Breakfasts were buffet style with very good selection for the money. Big concern, dont rely on the driving instructions to the hotel, provided by Booking.com. You will end up in a field 4-5 kms away near Port Morvan. The locals have never heard of Domaine du Val, as it is a generic term and signpost in the area for other hotels and accomodation! We spent about 90 minutes cruising around Port Morvan & eventually had to phone the hotel in desperation. The hotel was aghast at the directions provided by Booking.com. From 2009, we are not the first to experience this. The correct sat nav co-ordinates are [ n 48.54719 x w 2.60111 ] The hotel is signposted correctly from Plangenoual - large sign near the Zephr bar as Chateau du Val 3 kms away towards coast, then low brown signs as Chateaux du Val - not Domaine !
oue "romantic" room was not really romantic but was "tetro" (italian) and clening wasn't good peccato....
The hotel was full of character with wonderful grounds. The family room was ideal (two rooms split with a shared bathroom). They provided a cot for our baby and were very accomodating, even providing us a side room for dining with the baby.
Very friendly welcome, beautiful chateau A little shabby
Very quiet chateau in the country. The room was large and comfortable. Very difficult to find the hotel. The GPS coordinates provided are not quite accurate. Advice is to travel to the hotel in daylight.
location. friendly staff the lift. the electics.
location near all sights/centre bed was uncomfortable, sagged in centre
Friendly, helpfull staff. The big price difference between internet booking and room prices directly booked at the hotel.
The welcome at Reception
Friendly staff, secure parking, central location - just within old town walls, excellent breakfast
Good location. The receptionist was friendly, but didn't speak english at all. There was something like a closet in the bathroom!
Convenient and had good parking.
Staff and manangement were very accomodating and friendly. The loacation of the hotel was very convenient to a wonderful and historic city, Dinan. There was nothing we didn't like.
Nice rooms, very clean, good central location, still quiet area. Good underground parking. The staff, both a man and a woman did not seem prepared at all, to handle even the computer. They had messed up the reservation.
under cover car parking
Friendly staff. No "frills". Ideally situated in the middle of Dinan.
Short city trip, explored area
Central position within the town was excellent Accommodation suited our needs completely. No dislikes
Wireless internet was free, not EUR 1 per hour.
The position in the heart of the historical Dinan. The old building, a former monastery. I'll recommend it for the kindness of the staff.
Location in City centre, inclusive parking, Rather splendid facade and good use of old building. Friendly staff Shower has push button control on hand piece so you have only one hand left to wash with. This was very inconvenient. A timed push button control on the shower control system would have been better
Proximity to the old town and restaurants and ease of walking around the area. Good parking area on site
Have stayed before - very friendly basic hotel. The room this time was not as good as previous - Room 20. I had to stoop all the time as there were low sloping ceilings. Also the shower did not stay on the attachment we had to hold it all the time.
Crntral postion and great price
We received a very warm welcome, the staff were all very friendly and efficient and the bar area was cosy and with nice decor. The breakfast choice was also good. No, except that we didn't think the restaurant (menu and presentation of food) was of the usual 'Inter-Hotel' standard.
the manager and manageress were extremely welcoming and all the other staff we met were friendly too. we used the hotel purely as a stop-over for our travels and it met our needs. no free wi-fi available and no hair dryer in rooms
Good hotel & restaurant . Very helpful & friendly staff . Good food when restaurant open Mon to Fri. Location not so good on industrial estate but ok as touring base.Restaurant not open Sat & Sun . Room smelled a bit of smoking
Staff were friendly (once they had made an appearance). Breakfast was good (for a continental). They were happy to let us bring our bikes indoors (can't imagine many British hotels doing this). Hotel was very pleasant inside and rooms were fine. Reception not manned (or womanned!) on Sunday, so we had to fend for ourselves somewhat. Location was further out of town that I realised (obviously not their fault) and in the inevitable ZI, past the abbatoir!
It was just what we wanted - a hotel close to the N12 for an overnight stopover.
The Proprietor and his wife both spoke very good english and were very friendly. The service was very good and the food and service in the restaurant were very high standard.
hotel manager and wife very friendly - restaurant food was excellent and the service was very good ..choice of wines very good for 2 star rated hotel rooms were dated but ok for overnight- small tv with poor reception -no international news
Friendly Hotel stuff and Restaurant served very good food Rooms very old and missing some basic things like shower curtain
The restaurant was good. The Manager was very pleasant Is situated in an industrial/commercial area
The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and there is a 24h access to the hotel. Close (15 km) to the coast. The location is poor: the town of Lamballe has not much to offer.
Locality within easy reach of restaurants and shops Nothing
It was exactly what I expected, a nice clean room with a tv and drink making facilities. Also there was a car park out side, with no charge. Nothing
Very nice hotel and value for money. Right in the centre by the train station. Don't let this put you off as we nere heard any of the trains. Good Facilities and friendly staff.
Convenient location - just opposite the train station and not far from the historical centre of Lamballe. Friendly and attentive staff. Rooms comfortable and clean. WI-FI, coffee machine in room. Good buffet breakfast. Good value for money
good breakfast small room
Nice staff, nice and clean hotel, excellent location oposit to the Train Station in Lamballe
There were not internet wifi conections
Although the hotel was quite compact everything was incredibly organised and of a high standard of cleanliness. Nothing
The room. Proximity to the railway station.
Good hotel for overnight stay en-route to ferry at St Malo. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Dinan - the town itself is gorgeous. Make sure that you leave time to explore it!
Accommodation adequate for four people in split level room. The male proprietor was very rude (impolite). I came to the bar to buy cold bottled water with ice; I explained that my son was ill. I also like to practice my French and that is why I volunteered the information. The male person behind the bar (the large, middle-aged person) said to me: " Ah you want the water and ice so that you can drink whiskey in your room". I said no, but he repeated the same statement. He said this in front of other guests. I was very embarrassed and annoyed.
The friendly receptionist who spoke some English which was useful and the duplex style accommodation, double and ensuite downstairs (bit cramped) and 3 singles upstairs with ensuite. Very useful for an overnight stay if travelling south from the St Malo ferry. Only that we took the Taden turnoff from the main road and spent some time searching for the hotel. The Quevert turnoff would have been much better as it is much closer to the Hotel and it would have been helpful to know this as the internet map was not very clear.
location to Dinan and local port Room was tatty and dated.
Clean, friendly hotel with excellent facilities for a family with three children - staff, friendly and courteous and breakfast, providing good value for money. Ideal location for ferry travellers who wish to stay a night before travelling further a field in France,
Friendly staff and excellent value evening meal. Room acceptable and spotlessly clean. Easy car parking No air conditioning and unable to leave ground floor window open through the night because of security risk
The location was excellent, in a fairly peaceful position just on the edge of Dinan and handy for the main autoroute. The restaurant was excellent and one night we benefited from seeing a traditional singing and dancing troop at a party.
Evening meal was excellent. Slight language barrier which made it difficult to communicate with the the restaurant staff. However, all staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Accessibilty from Main Road system. Being on the outskirts of Dinan, no map of town available from Reception!
Family suite was great with bedroom upstairs for children including their own bathroom.
didn't like the fact that the hotel is next the main road. Expected chateau in the middle of country side and not next the main road. There was no restaurant to have some dinner, the closest 2km. The room was for the money very small, in the chateau was weding so we couldn't even go to the garden to enjoy the chateau. Very disappointed.
breakfast was an excellent buffet that you were part of a gite complex.not at all homely.
The new cottage had a traditional stone exterior, with outside deck. There was large spacious bedroom (stairs leading to a room above), bathroom with a shower and fully self-contained kitchen. The location was excellent for exploring the countryside and coast. There was no TV, which was not problem for me. But the Internet did not work, this was a disappointment. Although the Internet did work fine at the Chateau it self.
Lovely chalet by the sea. Helpful and friendly staff. Resturant could have been better. The menus is very good but presentation on plate and cooking is poor quality. Fish overcooked.
Friendly Owner, very helpful and cheerful. Nothing, it was perfect.
The owners were very nice and helpful. It was very quaint and well decorated. Very comfortable bed. A little trouble with hot water for showering on a few days.
Clean and modern interior, friendly helpful staff, excellent location for Dinan fairly good value for money. As reception closed at 8pm it would have been nice to have tea or coffee making facilities in the bedroom so that you could have a hot drink before bed, especially as we were travelling with children and were not able to stay out too late.
Friendliness of the owners; convenience; tranquility; accessibility; would book again
The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Dinan and environs. The room was roomy, clean, reasonably priced and very well located. As a classic car owner, the availability of a excellent, secure, proximate, garage was a huge plus. The owner recommended a really good restaurant as well. While there is no reason why he should, since it is reasonable for hosts to speak the local language, the owner also spoke excellent English as well.
lovely atmosphere, friendly, close to walled town of Dinan.
Mark, the hotel owner, is extremely friendly and genuine, which is a great plus for a boutique/small hotel. Room was comfortable and cosy and warm and the location was very convenient for walking into Dinan and exploring the old town and some of the excellent restaurants around the town (esp one which makes the most excellent casseroles in the region). Parking is free on the small road next to the hotel. The only downside was there not being a hair dryer in the room for the missus and the free WiFi not extending to the room for my laptop. But the lounge area in the hotel where i could do some work on my laptop was comfortable enough to make it a non-issue.
Friendly and helpful owner/manager
close to the city, quiet location, good breakfast, very friendly staff
Location - just outside old town walls. Staff frendly and helpful.
Great central location. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely relaxing atmosphere and a beautiful garden. Could include continental breakfast in the price.
Very nice garden, excellent location, quiet position.
Public Areas and Garden were very impressive, Staff very helpful and spoke excellent english. Hotel recently refurbished A special offer free breakfast was on offer to late booking walk in guests whereas pre booked guests paid 13.50 for breakfast which was nevertheless good
The Garden patio was beautiful. It was worth staying at the hotel for the garden alone. The location is perfect. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Our room was a bit outdated. It was pretty warm in our room and we were on the front of the building so if we left the window open it would have been too loud. Ask for a garden view room on the backside of the hotel if it is during the warmer months.
Helpful staff and clean rooms. Bathroom was well equipped and clean too. Nice breakfastroom with opportunity to eat on terrace in good weather. The hotel overlooks the market square in Dinan and the noise from local youths was awful. It carried on until 4am and prevented any sleep. Would not recommend the hotel for this reason.
The hotel is very central (within the walls of the medieval city) and the centre of town with its shops, cafes, restaurants and creparies is a short stroll away. The hotel is friendly and welcoming with a great little garden at the back where you can have a drink in piece and quiet. There is also free wifi internet access for guests. There is no parking for the hotel, which means having to pay during the day in the car park opposite the hotel. Also there is only very limited public space in the hotel, with no restaurant, or other amenities.
Very charming hotel, especially the garden. Ideal for a relaxing drink. Excellent position for exploring the town. Easy to find and good parking facilities. Friendly and very helpful, knowledgable, staff. Rooms were rather expensive - we did upgrade to a garden room to avoid the noise of passing traffic at the front and the difference in price was large. Coffe/tea making facilities would be a good idea. Breakfast was good but expensive compared to others we had elsewhere - at the prices for the rooms it should have been included without a surcharge.
Lovely Hotel very friendly staff, close to centre, parking out front( E9 per day )
Very good value. Staff very welcoming and informative. Location fantastic for sightseeing. Hotel garden adds somthing very special to this hotel. Pity there is only public car parking but that is the same for most of the hotels in the area.
the hotel is very well located, clean and well kept, with the best showers in France! The owner was there every day--quite friendly and helpful. The town of Dinan is charming and historic with many good restaurants. It makes an excellent base to explore Brittany.
