Pros: The breakfast was amazing, the people very friendly, and they know a lot about Antwerp The house they rebuilt and redecorated is fantastic.
Cons: The house is situated alongside a rather busy and noisy road.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super breakfast! Very friendly and welcoming hosts! We will be back :-)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay, quiet given that it’s on a busy road, great location in Zuid, feels off the beaten track but convenient and homey.
Cons: I would have liked a bigger bath towel but that’s just me ;)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and gave good hints for restaurants and places to go. The rooms are very special and stylish. It is really worth visiting. Great breakfast. We'd love to come again!
Cons: Unfortunately, there is no elevator...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast room overlooks a beautifully cared for city garden, which I hadn’t seen in any of the photos so it was a lovely surprise to see in the morning! Fresh fruit, juice and a hot coffee, a wonderfully relaxing welcome in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superbly restored an old building in a quiet beautiful area of Antwerp, not far (15 min walk) from the historic center. Our room was really large and designed with a great delicate taste. A high ceiling (about 5 m) and two hight windows from the floor up gave even more space and light. The breakfast was a little surprise. It was served on the first floor of the mansion in a larger lounge with an open kitchen and a terrace watching to the inner garden. The breakfast was great in every sense. It was prepared by one of the hosts and was both healthy and beautifully served in finely tuned dishes. Beautiful calm music sounded on a background. We felt welcome and wanted to stay more and more, and communicate with the friendly-minded owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, friendly and helpful hosts, excellent breakfirst, attractive surroundings. The place to be in Antwerpen!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quirky and unique. Attention to detail was amazing and our room was actually more like a salon. First rate hospitality. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for sophisticated but welcoming accommodation in Antwerp

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just P E R F E C T!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Its a beautiful building in a nice neighborhood in Antwerp. The room is very original and spacious, the bathtub with big windows with a view of lovely trees was amazing and also the rest of the house is just beautiful.
Cons: I expected more from all these reviews.I didn't feel particularly welcome. The hosts are friendly people but since I don't speak Dutch but my boyfriend does, I felt a bit ignored. I asked a question (in English) and they answered to my boyfriend. All the time. Even though they of course did speak English. I found that a bit rude. Also I mentioned in the booking to them that it was my birthday and it was completely ignored. Not a big issue but it definitely wasn't the warm and welcoming atmosphere that I expected from the reviews and for the money as well.

Bed & Breakfast Exterlaer - Antwerp - Building
3
9.6 Excellent (108 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Antwerp, Bed and Breakfast Exterlaer is within a 10-minute drive of Wijnegem Shopping Center and Antwerp Zoo.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully restored house in a quiet residential area. Friendly owners. Nice breakfast with high quality ingredients. We did not sit in the garden as it was too cold outside but in summer it must be a lovely spot to have breakfast.
Cons: Minor comments: parking is for free but it might take some time to find a parking spot as it is located in a residential area. Curtains do not obscure the room completely so you wake up at sunrise.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Unbelievably clean tidy with a cool twisting mix of modern and old - very very cool
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decoration, hospitality, lication
Cons: Everyting! Complete perfection!!! And fantastic decoration & style, designed by the very talented host himself, perfect breakfast, beautiful garden, one of the greatest hospitality experience and close to the biggest natural swimming pond in Belgium, the Sportpaleis, the Riverenhof and the centre of Antwerp. I am a fan!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners ,who live in the the adjacent townhouse , were gracious and informative. They are artists who beautifully restored ed and furnished the property. The Exterlaer perfectly met our locational needs, and met our it "charm standard" . It is located in an early twentieth century neighborhhod with a diversity of architecture. Free parking was available about a block away.Parking in Central Antwerp is expensive and restricted. A tram, however is located a half block away ,and it provides easy access to Central Antwerp as well as the Osli Coglei (sp?) art nouveau district, Antwerpen is an overlooked city,
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very helpful, made us feel very welcome. The bed was very comfy, the room was lovely. The breakfast in the morning was superb.
Cons: I had a problem with opening the front door with the code. The problem was not with the code itself but turning the knob of the door in the right direction.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house and decor are very attractive and the rooms expansive. The location is close to the city centre easily accessible by No 9 tram. There is an excellent restaurant nearby. The continental breakfast is very comprehensive and tasty catering for all tastes. Daniel and Linda are truly wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble and they are very knowledgeable with reference to the local area and the city. If I should need to stay in Antwerp again then undoubtedly it would be here!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Host very friendly. Quite place. Nice breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I think Bed & Breakfast Exterlaer is a guest house rather than a hotel. I would say that it is really cozy and welcoming. Interior inside is basically a home. There is even a cat that will come to say hello at a breakfast! The hotel is located in a quiet and nice area and there is a park nearby. There is a tram line No.9 that will take you to the center of the city in 15 minutes. The hosts attitude is very pleasant. In the beginning I was maybe a little bit confused by the attention from the hosts (that you normally don't get at hotels), but then I got used to it and realized that it is actually a hospitality. The only thing I could point out is that the house has wooden floors inside and when people walk and talk in the staircase one can hear it from the room. But this was not really a problem for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hosts ever! Very recommended
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very friendly hosts, very tidy and clean rooms with a nice atmosphere. Good restaurant very close for a late night snack after arrival.

Pros: Paul and Patricia were absolutely excellent hosts who brimmed with enthusiasm for Antwerp and shared that with us.
Cons: Can’t say there was anything
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Almost rverything was great.
Cons: The only thing we didn’t lime was an extremely noisy street and impossibility to sleep with the windows closed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The (attic) room was beautiful and the whole place had been decorated wonderfully. Patricia and Paul were so kind and welcoming and took time to give us lots of recommendations. Definitely planning to stay here again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A well appointed room in a beautiful Belgium home. Very close to the train station and sights. The hosts made some excellent recommendations for food, drinks and other points of interest that only locals would know about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and beautifully decorated rooms, warm welcome by very friendly and helpful property owner, location of the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room in the attic is the best. Owners are nice people, very interesting to talk to. If you have limited time in Antwerp, as we did, go visit the places they tell you about first. It will leave a good impression of the city.
Cons: * Parking is public on the street, and there is no free spot in the evening. In our case the only salvation was that the owners gave us their place. * There is an old and narrow staircase in the house. So if you take a room near the top and have to carry some heavy luggage, mind your step.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is great. There's a bus stop 1-minute walk and it goes into the old town. We stayed in the attic, and it is extremely beautiful, we were very happy to be there. And of course, the hosts were super nice and helpful for where to go and what to do in Antwerp!
Cons: If there could be few hangers in the room that would have been great.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful hosts. A great room in a lovely house with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They gave us an awesome explanation about the city and it's historical backgrounds! also told us where to eat, what to see and how to get there! the location is super near the central station and the shops, plus the rooms where VERY nice! super spacious and clean! the decoration was very beautiful, very good mattress on the beds and super nice bathroom as well!!!! really didn't expect to have that high standard since just went for one night with my family. the whole hotel is beautiful!!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved Maison Nationale and would definitely stay again. The location was perfect, the apartment was clean and nicely renovated. Tom took great care of us with restaurant recommendations and arranging a taxi back to the train station. If you’re visiting Antwerp you should stay here.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is unbeatable, right in the middle of the old city. The apartment was serviced by a fast elevator, so being on the 3rd floor was no problem. It was very stylish, and impeccably clean.
Cons: While stylish, the apartment was not always practical. For example, nowhere to hang towels, No real clothes hanging space. Very limited bench surface (none in the kitchen).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very spacious room, clean and comfortable. Most convenient checking in and out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is my go to hotel when visiting Antwerp. It checks all the boxes: great location, parking nearby, cafes in all directions, low key, nice design
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment owners of Tom and Karen are great host. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. The apartment is conveniently located and close to city center. But you will easily notice the age of usage of the apartment. The shower floor of the apartment we stayed allowed water to flow to the rest of bathroom too easily and needs fix.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is lovely large hotel room with an interesting, spare design and a nice feel to the space. I was traveling with my daughter and it was no problem for the staff to make up the sofa bed, which was very comfortable. Although it is near the Centre and our room faced to the street, it was very quiet in the room. There is a bus and tram stop right outside the door which makes getting further afield very easy; a supermarket across the road and many bars and restaurants very close by. A fan was available to keep the room cool on a hot day. A great bath! And a coffee machine for early morning coffee.
Cons: The bathroom area does not have a door - no problem for a couple or family but you need to be aware if booking with friends. There was some overflow of water from the shower area into the bathroom, but when this was reported to the owner she said this will be attended to quickly.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Well kept studio apartment with lots of room to spread out. Fantastic location for walking around Antwerps sites, stores and restaurants. Hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The studio was spacious and very clean. A fan was provided for cooling if required but the opening windows quickly provided the cooling we needed. Very comfortable bed. Loved the location, an easy walk to the main museums and squares. Good restaurants, cafes and public transport nearby but not at all noisy because of the double glazing. Karen was welcoming and provided lots of helpful information on arrival.
Cons: Tiling in the shower and slightly better gradient to stop water coming out. Lower pillows.

Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The name "B&B The Baron" was quite appropriate. My wife and I felt like we were Baron and Baroness. The B&B was unassuming from the outside but once you enter, you feel like you are transported back in time. The breakfast setting was the most elegant setting we ever experienced. I was fortunate enough to be invited into Luc's library full of his collections of comic books - what an amazing experience. The location was very close to Antwerpen-Centraal and Luc's suggested walk proved to be an excellent introduction. Following his advise we took a long walk on the day of arrival, giving us the first look at the must-see sights. I had a magnificent view of the city from the ferries wheel at the Steenplein and great 360-degree sunset view of the city and the port from the Panorama, the 10th floor roof terrace at MAS. We even had local beer and listened to music at a beer garden on the way to MAS.
Cons: Payment by credit card rather than cash would have been more convenient.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Authenticity
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hosts great place to stay
6.3 Good
Pros: Our experience on the bright side: -Nice house -Clean place -New furniture -Nicely decorated room -Mix of modern and traditional -Well situated -Large room -Internet Ok
Cons: Our less positive experience in few words: -dogs barking during the evening -a lot of noise on the roof windows when there was rain -water bed way too soft -cold, no way to switch the heating -breakfast acceptable but not special
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I liked the classy & relaxing vibe of the place. The room was suited with everything I needed for one night stay.
Cons: I wish breakfast would start a bit earlier.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Literally the best, everything you need is there even a lighter and candle. Everything was just like what is displayed in the picture, nothing exaggerated. Romantic place, recommend for couples.
Cons: Nothing, perfect place, but the bathroom is quite small. Not recommend for obese people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fabulous experience at Casa Zurenborg, the area is very beautiful and full of architectural wonders, very close to Berchem station, walking distance to the centre, apartment was very clean, bright and airy with everything we needed. Paulo, the owner was kind and very helpful throughout our stay, five stars.
Cons: Great value for money
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice area if you want to be outside the busy city centre, not too far for a nice walk. For people who don't like to walk 30/40 minutes, there is a lot of public transport. The area is great for restaurants and cosy bars to sit outside and have a beer (or something else of course). The apartment is exactly like the photos, cosy, clean and practical...with a nice shower :). There are no negative points to mention, the owner asked if we didn't hear his children too much, but for us that was not the case at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is very responsive and hospitable. Great location, love the quaint neighbourhood and absolutely adore the place! Thank you!
Cons: None
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Kind and helpful owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very warm welcome, comfortable bedding, host was very flexible.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location Complimentary drink from the mini bar was super nice during the heatwave
Cons: I really thought that there was gonna be a door to the bedroom so that one could go to bed before the rest of the group and sleep undisturbed. It seemed so from the pictures. The air conditioning was super nice in +20 degrees, however it was placed right next to the bed - instead of the wall over the “fireplace” so that one had to have cold air right on you all night. Not so nice. I thought the apartment would be on the 1st. floor - however it is on the 2nd floor meaning quite a lot of stairs.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean / comfortable and spacious enough for me
Cons: no cooking facilities !

Pros: This beautiful B&B in the center of Antwerp has been fantastic from the start to the very end. The room was spacious, clean and even decorated with a Christmas tree. Karel and Georgette have made our stay a unforgettable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom were fantastic! The hosts were super nice and very welcoming! And the breakfast was everything you could wish for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I made a last minute reservation that exceeded my expectations. We arrived at half past nine in the evening. We were warmly greeted by the host and she showed us our rooms. The room, accessories and linen were beautiful. Not something you normally see in an hotel. There was a bottle of water, glasses and we could make our own coffee or tea while we could relax on the couch in the room. The bathroom existed of a bath, a shower and a double basin. When we tried the bath later, I realized it was a kind of a “jacuzzi”, full of bubbles. Lovely. We went out for a quick drink in the heart of Antwerp but as we were tired from the trip we went back soon. The beds were proper and it was nice and quiet, even with the windows open. There is a window screen to avoid that mosquito’s come in. When we woke up, I opened the curtains and the sunlight was shining on the little flowers next to the window. Such a special and beautiful experience overall.
Cons: I can’t think of anything, it was just so special. Can you imagine, in the middle of the city centre is a big old style house with an back garden full of little flowers. In the morning, you can choose your breakfast. We choose coffee, croissants and yogurt. Prices were reasonable. You can’t have breakfast for the same amount in a coffee shop next door. Belgium is not a cheap country, going out for dinner is more than what I would expect. A pity that we had to go to our next location. I can’t wait for our next trip to Antwerp, I know were I need to stay now.

Cons: Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We did not have breakfast. We had a warm welcome from the owner Georgette. She showed us our suite which was splendid and overlooking the impeccable garden. It was serene and quiet yet just behind a busy tourist area. Excellent location. Georgette made us feel at home in her own home! and said to ask if we wanted anything
Cons: 4 towels were provided. I think 2 slightly larger for bath purposes would be my suggestion

Pros: Close to the city centre
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice service and kind staff
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous service, location and decor. Reception staff and housekeeping were amazing.
Cons: Great that the shampoo/conditioner/body wash/soap is in larger bottles (ideally refillable). Shame they aren't from a local producer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to Grote Market and most major attractions. The very comfy bed.
Cons: The fitness room is too small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location. Really friendly and helpful staff. Clean and cozy room.
6.8 Good
Pros: It was nicely decorated, clean, and breakfast was fantastic.
Cons: We had booked two rooms to be on the the same floor. Which was confirmed however when arriving they gave it away to someone else so we ended up one couple on level 2 and the other on level 4. The reception lady just said she couldn’t help us and shrugged it off. I informed her this was unacceptable and after 10 minutes she said we would receive complimentary breakfast. Which was nice but spoiled the whole atmosphere. Especially when we had to pick up our luggage from the car that was across the street and drag it with us to the lift. As they wanted to show our room first and leave our luggage in the lobby next to the open door by the street unattended. Which was a BIG NO as my ball gown dresses were hanging there and anyone could jump in and grab it. The hotel was gorgeous but the reception lady who helped us has a lot to learn to make guests feel welcome and at ease upon arrival.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - We got upgraded to a suite - although its probably the smallest suite I have stayed in - Amazing speakers in the room - Very nice bathroom - 10 mins walk to the station
Cons: - No buffet breakfast available, I expected a nice buffet breakfast at a hotel of this caliber - The lane where the hotel was, was empty most of the time - For some reason, the hotel seemed less filled up
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff was helpful and friendly. Nice architecture and design of the hotel.
Cons: I had upgraded to a Deluxe room purely because a bathroom was listed to be one of the features the Deluxe room would have over my initial choice. However, When I got to the room, It had no bath at all with the explanation from staff being that only three of the hotel's Deluxe rooms have baths. This was my sole reason to upgrade and I found myself to be disappointed with the room. Please do not list features you cannot guarantee. Besides this, the room wasn't very spacious either with a sloped ceiling and a very tiny roof-window offering no view at all being the only source of natural light available in the room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: One of the beat locations for visiting Antwerp. Beautiful setting, great lounge area and garden with preserved 17 th century house in the back (storage but worth a look). As in general in Belgian cities, avoid driving there and Francq is just the heart of the old town.
Cons: When we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed for two weeks, except for lunch and breakfast, should have been on the website. Anyway there's a fantastic place round the corner called Godevaart with phenomenal décor, garden and is ranked 55 of the 1500 restaurant listed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent boutique hotel in an ideal part of the city. The decor is impressive and all the staff were really polite and helpful.

Pros: The room was very nice and well located to The MAS building. Staff were very friendly.
Cons: Seem to be very expensive. The breakfast was over priced and limited in variety. Was very easy to wander into the red light area on your way to town although the hotel is located in a nice area. For the price paid would have been nice to have more than 1 coffee and tea available in the room.

Pros: Nice and modern rooms in a small hotel with atmosphere. Comfortable beds and nice staff.

Pros: good service
Cons: wifi not available must arranged something to full fill!!!

Pros: Room was quiet and comfortable, Air conditioning worked quietly and the bed was very comfortable. The Gym is small and sparsely equipped but enough if your there alone or only with another one or two guests
Cons: Breakfast eggs were cooked on a baking tray in the oven so they ended up looking and feeling like a tray of rubber. Scrambled eggs were similar in being overcooked. I asked for a soft egg and was told that this is all they had. Other than this the rest of the breakfast was Nice.

Pros: Very kind staff, we called the owner and told them we would arrive after midnight and she was being very helpful to let us to pick up the key. Great location, the famous shopping street is less than 10 mins walking distance and it is right next to a church, super cool. Unique building, it is a very old building with a nice design.
Cons: The stair going up to bedroom is a bit narrow and would be easy to fall down from it even if we didn't. Yet, we had to walk very carefully.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nicely located. Loved the mix of the old church wall, the old floor with the modern shower and furniture. Staff was professional and friendly. Will come again, really enjoyed my stay!

Pros: A great standard, crockery, bathroom fixtures & fittings, comfortable very big bed! Lovely quiet courtyard outside, which would be perfect for a morning breakfast or evening drink. Collection of key very simple and handy too.
Cons: The stairs are very steep and narrow footing so didn't feel I could carry my suitcase upstairs. Having said that there is nothing that the owners can do to rectify this, but its mindful that if you have a heavy or large suitcase, leave it downstairs.
7.5 Good
Cons: The lack of the a door between the toilet and the bedroom
5.8 Okay
Cons: Everything was really tiny and looked way bigger on the photos. The stair are really steep therefore it‘s impossible to get the luggage to the bedroom, but there wouldn‘t be space anywhere... We wanted to sleep a little bit longer but they clean the appartment only till 11am.
