Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a library. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
Pros: Incredibly friendly team, who will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and well looked after. The lodge is conveniently located for the bolong, the beach and the village. A great place for bird watchers and those in search of a more socially conscious mode of travel in The Gambia. Would definitely come back.
Pros: We were so delighted to arrive in this authentic & tranquil setting, and to be greeted warmly by the proprietors. We would definatly return here with our children who would have loved the pool and dining area along with the vibrant fishing village a short walk away and the endless beach and shells galore!
Pros: The Gunjur project is an amazing place. The staff are warm and friendly and very helpful. The drumming workshop was fantastic with Butch. Lots of interesting and exciting people to spend time with and a pool to cool off in. A beautiful family providing everything for a memorable trip
Cons: I didn’t like having to leave
Pros: We chose to stay here because of the work the Project do in the local community and because they employ staff throughout the whole year, not just during tourist season . This is unusual and clearly drives this project . The whole staff team were incredibly welcoming , friendly and good at their jobs. Non resident Guests were also made very welcome. The lodge is located in the centre of the beautiful village and a short stroll to Gunjur's fishing beach and football field ( where there are plenty of opportunities for a kick about with kids and adults for those interested ) Fellow guests were encouraged to share their skills and interests. Whether that be running yoga or fitness sessions or sharing their knowledge of building skills and so on . A trip here is much more than a holiday and I would highly recommend. It could be potentially life changing to those who visit .You can learn so much and re- evaluate what is important in your life . Thank you to everyone at the Lodge, staff and guests, who made out visit so wonderful . We hope to come back very soon Love Judy, Lamin and Safia
Pros: Great service, lovely people, everyone was incredibly helpful with our needs and was made to feel at home
Pros: The family feeling. The stafe were helpful. And The breakfast good.
Cons: It was terrible dirty in The toilet, Black inside, under beds and behind tables it was so dirty, all corners were dirty. It’s so easy to just take this places and clean by hand. It was a mess in the garden and not organised at all. Thinks were thrown all over. Very dusty outside the rooms they could have shells there so you not bring all sand inside the room
Pros: Excellent food and a friendly family atmosphere to stay in
Pros: We ate in restaurant here food was just amazing !! Could not fault it for variety and taste.
Pros: One of the best experiences ive ever had. I cried all the way up the road when we left. There is something deeply special and authentic about this place. If you want to truly understand Gambia and its people and environment look no further. Can't wait to return .
Pros: Jo, Jenny, Butch and the team were all superb. Can't fault anything. Well done and keep up the good work for the local area.
Cons: Jo, Jenny, Butch and the team were all superb. Can't fault anything.
When you stay at Nemasu Eco-Lodge in Gunjur, you'll be on the beach and 6 minutes by car from Gambia Reptile Farm. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: This is our 2nd visit to Nemasu. We rarely go back to the same place twice. It didn't disappoint - so relaxed, great location, really good food.
Pros: Support of local people trained and providedwith work involvement in local schools and projects
Pros: Just a fabulous place to stay away from Senegambia so avoiding the heavily touristed areas and no "bumsters" or offensive tourists. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful and such very hard workers. We loved the relaxed vibe and getting to know staff and other guests - without any pressure to have to socialise. Our room (8) was large, comfortable and had a fantastic terrace area with a sea view. Cocktails on the beach at sunset were a highlight, as was the African drumming and dancing night. There were plenty of options for trips out and things to do but also could quite happily have lounged around for the whole 6 days in this environment. Food was superb. Make sure you get up early one morning and walk the 20 mins along the beach to watch the fish catch being brought in. Amazing sight.
Pros: I liked the peace and quiet and compared with other lodges I visited the space around each hut. They felt very private. The little terraces in front of each hut are a gem especially when you can stay there most of the day and watch the sea, the sunset etc. without having to go anywhere else to do so.
Cons: I thought the staff could be more proactive .They were quite passive.
Cons: The beautiful and calming surroundings
Pros: Location, lodge, staff, food, tranquility and of course the beach.
Cons: Nothing it far exceded my expectations
Pros: The location was beautiful. The view from the room was amazing. Everybody was so kind, friendly and helpful.
Cons: I ate in the restaurant every night and there was a good choice of food which all tasted very nice indeed. The breakfast, for those guests with accommodation, in comparison, was a bit basic (continental) and not so much choice (unless you wanted to pay more). It was always freshly prepared though and served with that wonderful Gambian smile.
Pros: A very attractive location close to a super beach, staff very friendly, attentative and purposeful in their roles, food locally themed and very tasty, sunshine in abundance with a cooling breeze off the ocean.
Cons: A late booking made in haste and Nemasu exceeded expectations for Africa. We did not need a cleaner every day, but it was a pleasure to turn one away! Otherwise trips out locally to eat required care with hygene, sanigel useful for this.
Pros: The bar area and the beach location and the staff
Cons: The night watch man shining a torch in my room and messing with my door handle in the middle of the night. Problem was reported and hopefully sorted with a warning. I felt very uneasy
Pros: Splendid location, very peaceful. Pleasant room, though somewhat overpriced.
Cons: The food was exorbitantly priced, about double of what i paid in beach restaurants for tourists in Bijilo. Only half a serving of rice on the plate, and for a little more i was charged the amount of half a dinner in other places... incredibe. Got a tummy bug too. Needless to say i found somewhere else to eat on the following evenings... i rather support the locals with my money, not the greedy Australian owners of this place. The staff were generally not as nice as in other places in The Gambia, and two male staff were outright unpleasant. Omar from the beach bar let his eyes wander where they shouldn't- Yuk- and the gardener at the sea view side was impertinent, kept bothering me despite very clear boundary setting, following me even as far as onto the beach! Totally unprofessional, both of them. Needless to say, I won't stay there again!!!
Located in Gunjur, Footsteps Eco-Lodge is by the sea, within a 10-minute drive of Gunjur Central Mosque and Sanyang Main Mosque. Featured amenities include luggage storage, a library, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely breakfast & very nice food. The cook is a lovely man. The architecture of the huts are very pleasant. You feel like being part of the African life. Waking up with so many 'Bird Bands' is a joy.
Cons: Missed a small fridge & a small safe in the room. Very astonished about the mushrooms in the toilet. This was quite an experience but even though very ecological. Those who want to walk to the beach schedule about 45-50min. walk.
Pros: Had a fantastic stay in Footsteps, beautiful lodges, very friendly and helpful staff and a really social interactive atmosphere throughout – for example people tend to eat together in large groups at a large roundtable – although you don’t have to by any means. Close to very nice beaches but secluded and calm. Perfect place to relax and unwind – and lovely dogs! I don’t usually return to places but would love to return some day and probably will.
Pros: Food was absolutely outstanding Local guide and tours amazing and personalised David is the perfect host Prices and value for money is incredible Location perfect - beaches, village and further wandering all easy to get to We travel frequently (6-8 holidays a year) and this beautiful place absolutely blew us away. Ethos and sustainability brought us here but the experience, attention to detail and welcome we received will bring us back again. First time in the Gambia too and loved it. Warm, friendly people - nature, history and relaxed way of life. Just had too little time here (one week) but left us wanting more
Cons: Not a single thing
Pros: Wonderfully relaxing place, surrounded by nature. The birdlife around the Footsteps is varied and plentiful, with the beach a short and lovely walk away.
