A warm friendly welcome and very helpful professional staff. We would thoroughly reccommend the hotel for its facilities and relaxing atmosphere
The staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The room was very clean and well appointed. An excellent experience. nothing
The hotel is perfectly situated in the city of Ieper. Staff are very friendly and helpful, buffet breakfast is very good and the restaurant is excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. we will certainly be back,
excellent hotel, good service and fantastic food served they were able to cater for allergies.
Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Tasteful decor - interesting displays and artwork. Atmosphere somewhat clinical and the hotel felt more like a conference centre than a home away from home.
The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel room was spotless. The room was a bit grim. Although spotless, the TV was small, the remote didn't work. There was no place in the bathroom to set your items while you showered. The light in the bathroom was very dark.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The location was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. none
Friendly, helpful team running the hotel. Large comfortable rooms. Extremely well located - yards from the Menin Gate and from the centre of the town. Free parking. Good buffet breakfast.
Albion is an exellent hotel in the centre of Ieper, very friendly staff speaking very English and most other international languages, hotel was very clean and comfortable Exellent staff and service
Very f riendly and efficient.
The bedrooms and the buffet breakfast and being so well located near the Menin Gate and Main Square.
This is the most perfectly located hotel for Iepers battlefields and Menin gate. Literally opposite the Cloth Hall in the marketplace and 400m from the Menin Gate memorial. Wonderful views from the front of the building. Breakfast was excellent and bread and pastries were so fresh. Parking is so cheap in the market square..... Had twins beds instead of double....but they pushed together easy enough ;-)
The room was just what I wanted and more. Conveniently located to all the major sites in Ypres. My only complaint was the fact my room was right on the market square. Other than that, it was excellent.
food was excellent well priced .heating poor. heating to be working at all times
The location Did not feel welcome.
Great hotel, clean, modern rooms, super location. Doors to rooms were a bit thin - can hear a lot going on in the hallway.
Central Location Maintenance was lacking - only 1 of 4 light fittings in room operated. Decor was a bit odd, as was cheap furniture and view to brick wall from only window. Pity it wasn't a cheap room.
Excellent location right opposite the main museum. Pleasant room and comfortable bed. Great breakfast and staff were very pleasant. No staff in reception so it took a long time to get served. With patience though, someone did arrive and we were treated courteously.
Very central, good value breakfast, friendly and obliging staff
The location is excellent, the staff is very friendly, the rooms are very clean and spacious. I liked that is was a little bit removed from the high tourist area. It was very quiet at night for a good sleep, but close enough to everything to walk to all resuarants and sights.
As good as ever
Clean, spacious room Some noise in corridor from groups at night Plastic cups for complimentary beverage distorted with hot water
comfortable and friendly . good bar area spacious could not use the shower as unfamiliar tap configuration
The hotel was very quiet, staff was friendly, parking was easy.Evening meal was lovely. At breakfast some items run out, there was no staff in the kitchen to replace the food.
Staff were very helpful and polite. Adeqate parking. Room not as advertised - no fridge.(Apparently they had all been removed because some had been stolen by guests!). Fittings somewhat 'tatty' and the bed had seen better days! Light bulbs needing replacement.
Vwery friendly and comfortable hotel. Excellent staff. Restuarant food excellent. Very good value for money. Covenient for town centre and also good centre for ww1 tours Heating Pipes noisy in room 56
Friendly staff, easy to find, area was quiet at weekend On an industrial type estate which was predominantly motor trade sales, could I expect be very busy/noisey during weekday and no footpath along road. Need to take car if going to Ypres centre, within hiking distance but no footpaths. In morning bedsheet had ruck up to reveal a very very bad stain on the side of the bed, would not have been happy using it if had seen the night before! Hotel is used by groups and the breakfast area has an area set aside for them, not quick to clear that area away, and the group of squaddies who were staying at same time as us were not the best shall we say, milk and bits all over the floor. Corredor to rooms had a very strange smell, not aparrent in rooms thankfully. Had two rooms booked one was airy and light the other was a very dark pine finish which made for a gloomy atmospher, but ok for a night!
I found the bed comfortable and the room clean It was useful having tea making facilities and the TV . I did not like the shower as it was only from the tap, also there was no instructions and we had to go to reception to find out how to make the water come out of the shower head. Our friends who we were travelling with had the same problem. Also the web site states u are 1 mile from the town which is not true and this was a little inconvienent to us.
Food and external appearance Room was shabby and the hotel was to far out of town
The convenience of location and breakfast. the restaurant didnt look very appealing - never tried the food in the restaurant because the room itself put me off.
Beautifully modern but warm and welcoming. Hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Very close to the heart of Ypres and the railway station despite this it was on a very quiet side street.
B&B was very good, the owner very helpful, 15mins walk to the centre of town. Good if you want go for the experience of seeing Menin Gate. nothing
This small B and B outshines many 4 star hotels. The owner offers warm hospitality, meticulous attention to detail, comfort and a wonderful buffet breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble. It was like staying in a family home, but without being intrusive. A wonderful stay! The only 'difficulty', probably due to us inhibited British, was not having a door on the toilet space.
Everything, wonderful place! Nothing
The b & b was of exceptional value. The host and hostess were very friendly and helpful with places of interest and food options in their city. None at all.
Very friendly welcome and clean rooms with all facilities
Host really went out of his way to make the stay most enjoyable and was most helpful; well-furnished rooms close to town centre; excellent breakfast and complimentary coffee and tea anytime Our 13-year old (third person in room) was charged slightly more than an adult.
the very welcoming reception from owner - as we turned up earlier than expected
Easy to find, comfortable and clean, knowledgable host.
Our host was very helpful in pointing out sights to see and how to get there. The bathroom was two separate rooms without doors.
Within walking distance of town centre. Friendly, helpful owners. Traffic on street over cobbles a little noisy
Incredibly friendly hosts. Rooms were great, very open and particularly clean. Surprisingly good breakfast. Nothing - it was all good
Lovely welcome, Helpful friendly hosts, Perfect location, Local free parking, Excellent breakfast, Very comfortable, Tea & coffee available in room all day. None
Friendly welcome to B&B Hortensia, great attention to detail while we were there, perfect place to stay in Ypres.
Genuinely very good accomodation and excellent hosts
pleasant friendly owners good breakfast clean in nice area understand the owners are new and intend to re-decorate the bedrooms bedrooms basic tv did not work on remote also no tea /coffee making facilities no hairdryer very basic unable to take room until 5pm was not made aware of this very cold snowy day had to park some way away and wait to get in to bb
We had a very good comfortable stay. English spoken and understood Breakfast super. Near enough to walk to the Menen Gate
The hotel is in the middle of Ypres next to Lille gate and provides a great standard of comfort. A good bed, a good nights sleep and a wholesome breakfast are the hallmarks of Hortensia. No hesitation in recommending.
From the wonderful welcome on arrival to leaving we could not have been treated better if we had been family.
Superb location, easy to find as it is very close to the Menin Gate and the square. The staff really couldn't have been more welcoming and spoke perfect english. We arrived when the temperature was sub zero and despite being open plan the public areas were warm and the rooms were large, clean with adfjustable heating control. Free parking round the corner or private car park at hotel (pay) Nothing. We stayed for 3 nights and were delighted with the hotel.
The room was very good value for money. The evening meal was excellent and everyone in our party enjoyed their choices. There was a surprisingly good range of breakfast dishes especially compared with other hotels we have stayed in abroad. Bedroom could get rather hot during the night.
It was well run, very new and clean and very close to the town square.
Perfect for visiting Ypres, the numerous WW1 museums and cemeteries and attending the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate.
Comfortable, easy to find, pleasant and helpful staff. Would have liked a healthy breakfast cereal (e.g. bran flakes, no sugar museli).
The hotel was in a great position for looking around leper smell of smoke on the furnishing and in the room
closenest to town
Excellent central location within walking distance of many tourist interests. Excellent hotel for value for money.
Central location Renovations
size of room was good...location excellent bedspread was ugly and outdated as was brown blanket on bed
The central location made it within easy reach of everything
We found the location excellent and the staff most helpful and courteous. We would stay again if we ever went back to Ypres/Ieper. A great experience thank you.
Excellent location for touring around Ypres (bikes available). Good breakfast and friendly staff.
Locallity to town centre, hotel was tastefully renovated.
Friendly, good value for money, very well positioned for visiting Ypres -
Good , Clean, Helpful No Bar!!
Pleasant staff and easy access to the town
Excellent accommodation. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and well equipped. I will be visiting again.
Staff very helpful. Hotel warm and comfortable. Bathroom a little small but not really a problem.
Incredible location just a few steps from the amazing centre of Ypres. The new owners have done a wonderful job renovating the rooms. Extremely friendly staff. None
We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was comfortable (antiques and wood floors are very nice), bed was comfortable, breakfast was good. Also liked the historical garden next door. Not far from historical sites and museums. Would definitely stay again. shower was awkward, but suited our needs.
the friendliness of evrbody involved at the hotel
as a ex soldier it could not have been better i e grounds and history a little dated but the area was excellent for battle tour
Very friendly and comfortable. Really interesting grounds which are extremely well laid-out.
Period furniture, beautiful furnishings, WW1 trenches in back garden. Clean and pleasant.
Very comfortable and restful
Very welcoming, family hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful. A good value dinner from a small menu but very well cooked. A good base for those visiting the Ypres battlefields on a historic site.
The staff were very freindly & helpful
We spent 4 nights here visiting the western front battlefields. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the menu was limited but good, the range of beers excellent, and the house wine good, too. We had an excellent stay and would stay again without any hesitation. Nothing.
I found it very comfortable There were no coffee & tea making facilities
The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent and the rooms were comfortable. It was situated in a beautiful position with wonderful views although it may be noisy at the weekends as it is on a through road. The beds were very basic and rather uncomfortable. There was no where to sit and relax enabling you to meet other guests, as all the public rooms were set for meals.
The owner was really friendly and there was plenty of parking space and a lovely room and evening meal.
The staff were very helpful & the food was excellent.
Manager was helpful. The room was warm and clean. The breakfast was good. The walls are thin and I was woken up very early by inconsiderate guests who turned the volume up on their room TV. You cannot shower easily as there are no shower screens or hooks to fit the shower heads onto.
Good hotel close to French/Belgian border. Very helpful staff and excellent evening meal.
Large spacious room, fantastic view. Food was excellent. Two single beds pushed together to form a double.
We were very warmly welcomed by the hostess and given drinks on arrival. Our host gave us plenty of informaiton about the local area which helped immensely with the visit. The location is beautiful and the room was decorated to a very high standard. The grounds are beautiful with a variety of animals, including deer, dogs, cats and sheep. We had to pay in cash, which we didn't anticipate which meant we had to take out extra foreign currency. Ideally payment could be made by card.
The room was wonderful;spacious, full of interesting artefacts and comfortable. Food excellent. Hostess exceptionally charming and helpful. Location was a bit awkward - fairly hard to find
Beautifully presented accommodation, very welcoming and helpful hostess, excellent breakfast (we did not eat dinner there.) Excellently situated for easy access to Ypres and the WW1 battlefields. Nothing.
Excellent location, superb hosts, lovely atmosphere. We would have liked tea & coffee facilities in our room - although we were told to ask for anything we wanted at any time (which we did). However it would be nice to have the facility without having to bother anyone!
Lovely B & B. Hostess very hospitable. Did not take advantage of breakfast, but had a wonderful dinner.
This was beyond good. It was excellent. The attention to detail was amazing. So very luxurious. Very peaceful. Utterly amazing. Nothing like a B & B. Think very small luxury Hotel. There was nothing not to like.
Exceptional 5* standard, nothing too much trouble, friendly, romantic, relaxing, attention to every little detail so much more than we expected would reccommend De Rentmeersterhoeve it has an interesting history, hope to be be returning soon.
Excellent food, fine wines and very good service both at dinner and breakfast The bathrooms are a bit on the small side but this is more than made up for by the views and the atmosphere
Great meals! Signage and directions could be improved!
The hotel offered bar facilties whenever we returned to the hotel. The rooms were always very clean. The room was very small, the twin beds were pushed together just like a double bed. The barman did not fill glasses to the right amount. Very limited food menu. Hotel well away from village - needed transport.
The view, and the food No
Stunning views & welcoming staff
The quality of the hotel was excellent with good service and facilities. With interesting surroundings and good centre for sightseeing.
The location of the hotel is excellent. We had a twin room with a truly superb view over the valley (that is well worth the litle extra that one has to pay). The staff were pleasant and friendly, and the lady on reception when we came to depart was especially charming. One the evening that we stayed in the hotel there was a large function booked, and this consumed the greater part of the staff's attention. As a consequence there was little or no bar service and at least one guest left the bar without having been able to order a drink. Service at dinner was similarly sparse: it took two hours to have two courses served. The dinner menu is fine for anyone passionate about lobster, but otherwise there is relatively little choice. That is curious, given that the chef apparently has a international reputation. However, the food we chose (not lobster) was excellent, and probably better than any we had had in France, so I would not wish to put anyone off from visiting this very pleasant hotel.
The view and the food
wonderful views, very picturesque, charming staff, cosy & comfortable, good atmosphere, exquisite dinner, fantastic breakfast, small and homely. maybe a lift would be a good idea?
Beautiful surroundings and stunning views. Room facilities very good. Room was slightly on the small side.
