The room, the shared toilet and bathroom are very clean. And the bed is very comfortable, big and clean. Even there are enough lockers in the room for all guests. The best backpacker hostel I have seen so far. And the price and location are really good as well. I stayed in a six beds room. It was really hard for me to sleep well, especially there was party in that night. People came in and went out all night long. The door made such noise, including the toilet door.
Good service Perhaps the noise level from the streets
great location! no toiletries were provided.
One of the best hostels you can go. Clean, well organized, big kitchen, awesome roof terrace, fantastic location and still peaceful enough to have a good night.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, ready to answer any question. The other guests were fabulous and great to talk to :) The internet service was slower than dial-up. I also didn't like having to pay for a towel ($4 + $10 refundable deposit) or to store my bag for an hour or so ($5).Other than that, everything was great.
It's located right next to Central CityRail Station, as well as bus stops, which made for easy trips around the city. Haymarket was within walking distance, too. You could easily hear the noise coming from the hallways, especially from noisy and rude occupants.
Good location 1. Dreadful place, a rundown 2. Downstairs area where you eat & hang out smells of poo/sewage 3. Patronizing & inconsiderate attitude of staff, rude, hostile & intimidating notices everywhere: "Big Brother is watching you - do your dishes, no jokes!" where a polite "Please do your dishes" would do, "If you activate smoke alarm we'll fine you $500 & evict you in the middle of the night" where a simple "No smoking please" would do 4. Overpriced ($90 for a single bedroom, more than in local hotels) 5. Partially empty vending machine, some products expired 6. No guests allowed in rooms 7. Extremely slow Internet connection 8. Very slow elevator 9. Very limited breakfast 10. They will keep your deposit if you don't do the dishes - illegal by law
The ensuite room came with clean towels, floor mat and blankets. Other than the squeky bed, everything else was perfect for the price we paid. The location of hostel is excellent, just 5 mins walk to Paddy's market / Chinatown and 2 mins walk to free shuttle bus stops. The hostel has many security cameras installed, making us feel secured. As mentioned above, our double bed (with a single upper bed) was super squeaky. Any slight movements will create noise.
Location & Price beds were too hard and bunk beds too noisy when anyone moved
The location is really convenient. Free Wifi is awesome though the speed is a little slow. I hired a towel, but the cleaner just took it away without asking. (I didn't want to change it every day; One day I came back and found the towel was disappered.)
close to the city, staff is very friendly the double-room was way too expensive for the quality provided (no closet, very small room)
very convenient to the city and transport lack of bedside table, small fridge and TV
clean toilet and shower room
So close to City and China town No Tv in the room
Cetntral location, cheap, many facilities no
It was very upsetting on checking in that although I had given my credit card number I was told that it hadn't been passed on for payment. My friend travelling with me then had to produce her credit card for payment.Although I had a couple of phone conversations with staff this was never pointed out to me. The receptionist was quite rude giving us the impression that we were quite stupid.
The hotel is located at great location, very near to the famous Chat Thai restaurant, near to Market city and China Town. It's also a short walk to Queen Victoria Building, Town Hall station, Central station. U are able to walk to Sydney Opera House too. Air conditioner/ heater is a plus. Also, the price is very affordable in such a good location. The room's facilities is very poor, everything is old and not good looking at all. There is no towel in the toilet so make sure u prepare one yourself. The family room we are staying in is ok but the beds are very uncomfortable. It's a hotel for backpackers so families with kids would not feel completely comfortable here.
Central location - everything in walking distance. If you're on a budget and in party-mode then this is the place for you. What set me off is the cleanliness & smells of our room - very unpleasant. We had an ensuite bathroom and well... you get what you pay for.
The location was great for getting around the city - very noisy in that part of town though. Well ... it was what it was ... a cheap place to stay. Pretty rough and loud. More suited to younger backpackers out to party.
This hostel was in a good location. I asked for a 4-person female room and was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the room had our own private bathroom. That was awesome. If you are of the crowd that does not go out all night to party, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are many people at this hotel who like to party and you may be sharing a room with them. Other than that, the staff is great and the rooms are great, it's just for the younger, louder crowd.
The location was brilliant. The staff were very helpful and approachable. The cost for a fa mily room was very reasonable. The beds were rock hard!
Meeting new people, it was a great way to do this because I was alone. I have made so many friends who I still miss now. I was also able to change my room at around 8pm at short notice because I was not happy with some of the people in the room. That was brilliant. Manager was very nice. Most of the staff were rude, apart from Sam - she was really nice and kind and down to earth. Most people said she was the best and this is the truth. Every single other staff member treat people differently, some do not even smile at all, no joke. Some staff do not know anything, I ask them something and they will say 'ermm I dont know' without trying to find the answer. Some of the people who stayed at hostel were also not very nice, but most were nice. I was also in a room with a group of 5 girls for 2/3 nights which was horrible, because I was in a 6 dorm room, so basically I was by myself and they done what they want because they were all in a group together and didnt care that they kept me awake all night.
hanging in the lounge area, meeting new people.
nothing insalubrious rooms
Fun staff, clean dorm, and had an awesome time. The elevators suck.
they had a female only dorm with a private bathroom. The beds were extremely uncomfortable - it felt like i was sleeping on the actual springs without covering! The light for the bathroom was not working and when i confronted the reception staff the couldn't replace the bulb because it was a 'maintenance' issue (didn't think you needed a certificate to change a light bulb). It was still not replaced when i checked out which was well and truely 24 hours later.
It's in a nice area, and within walking distance from some nice places. Half of staff was helpful, the other half was not. The value for money is way off, and we even decided to book another hotel. A (partial) refund was not even considered.
Living right on Pitt street where the Chinatown and Central Railway station are just 2 streets away totally allowed us ultimate convenience to go anywhere we wanted. We had to climb the stairs to the 2nd level with our huge and heavy luggages.
I didn't realise it was mixed dorms. The locker in my room was broken so I had nowhere to put any stuff that was safe.
Very helpful staff, single rooms are well isolated from each other, bathrooms are outside the rooms but they are regular bathrooms with a door that locks and they are very clean. If you take a single room, it seems you are in a low-budget hotel whereas it is a hostel. Some problems with the curtains, fridge and magnetic cards, but nothing the staff couldn't fix. In my first room I was near the air-conditionning system so the noise was unbearable but I have been able to change room. It's a minor detail but I have always struggled with the curtains.
Location & nobody bothered you. Toilets & Bathroom were disgusting. Women's Sanitary bins were overflowing.
Comfortable beds No elevator, smelly refridgerator
Staff - The guy in Reception is very helpful. Cleanliness is poor
The room was clean. The "reception" area stank of cannabis smoke. The girl demanded payment in cash (which I didn't have) before I had seen the room, then charged an extra $2 for payment by Visa, reading my card details to her "boss" over the phone. The street noise made it impossible to sleep in the room at night, even with earplugs. One window had no curtain and wouldn't shut properly. The hot water took ages to come through and the cold tap in one of the communal showers didn't work (ouch!), and there were no plugs in the handbasins. In the middle of the night I found teenagers getting dressed on the landing. This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in (worse than the Petit Palace Italia in Madrid, and that's saying something).
the room was clean and we could see the nice view from our room, which was great. I wanted you to put any sign on the fire-escape door. Because I was locked out and could not get back in.
1. Too noisy, everynight was noisy, someone was singing and waked me up at 3am in the morning. 2. bathroom is dirty, have some blood marks on the washing bowl.
