Kamaole Sands is set amid tropical gardens with waterfalls and ponds, across from a scenic Maui beach park. One-, two-, and three-bedroom suites have full-kitchens and washers/dryers. Amenities include tennis courts, a swimming pool, and kids wading pool, jet spas, barbecue grills, and a weekly Mai Tai party.
This is the second time we have stayed at this place. It is very roomy and the staff is very friendly. Would stay there again.
furniture and bed not comfortable. Unit needs better furniture and bed was hard with flat pillows. over all condition of unit was average with nice kitchen and baths.
Loved the gorgeous kitchen & having a washer & dryer especially with a 2 year old, 2 month old & clean freak in-laws. We lucked out with a partial view on our balcony. They did have wifi at the pool, but not in the rooms, but you could connect directly.
Our stay at the Sands was enjoyable as always. We've stayed there 10 out of 11 years. On this trip the unit was o k, however it could stand some needed upgrades as the cabinets are falling apart and you cannot see the t v from the dining table. I'm not sure the partial ocean view apartment was worth the extra money as I would have liked an upgraded unit. Thanks
Castle Kamaole Sands was very nice! Had a great time in Maui. The only thing I would like to see different for next time, is to have the floors cleaned better. After walking around the condo your feet and socks would be black!
I like the located of this hotel because it was walking distance to beach and shops and restaurance. the staff is nice and helpful. the landscaping is beautiful.
The staff was friendly, however, there was limited interaction with them. The condo overall was barely acceptable. The kitchen was the best part. It was well stocked with everything we needed. The furniture was outdated. The TVs were also outdated and very small! The floors were FILTHY, as if they hadn't been mopped in who knows how long! The bed was the most uncomforatble bed I have ever slept in. I woke up in pain every morning there! The mattress was thin, hard, and very poor quality. It is obvious that the owners of this condo never stay there. I wouldn't receommend staying here to anyone and I won't be staying there ever again.
We had a partial beach view, and watched the sun set while we ate dinner on the balcony.
Great location, clean older room. Staff was friendly and left you alone to enjoy your visit.
Great place. I've stayed here about six times, always a good experiance. Clean, quite and close to the beach. What more could you ask for. They have gas BBQ grills and tables all over the place, and the maintenance guys get out to clean and service them every morning. We were there during spring break and there were always open grills. The puplic beach and park across the beach is a popular spot for sunsets. Enjoy. We will again next year.
Overal quite good community. Spacious room big t with lots of surfing tools.
The maids come every 5 days and only change sheets, towels, etc. They do not really clean. The same dirt was on the floor after the maid left that was there when we arrived. The was also a dirty cup left under the pull out couch prior to our arrival that the maid should have seen if she changed the sheets on the couch.
the condo was nice and the lanai has a nice view of the ocean where you can eat and relax but the only bad thing are the roaches roaming in the kitchen usually at night, otherwise it would have been a nicer condo.
we stayed for a week, just me and my husband and it was perfect...not so much a hotel, but a condo with one bedroom, two baths and one fully appointed kitchen - which was very convenient with the prices in Hawaii. also nice was the cable internet which was free and ample free parking. overall a good value, we will recommend this place to our friends without any doubt.
Good value for a family. Our unit was very quiet. Close to the beaches. Can walk across the street to a beach. Close to shopping and restaurants. Easy to get to anywhere on the Island. Not a touristy an area. Seems like more locals. Great beaches close by.
We had a 'Partial ocean view' room... Where you could barely see the ocean. It's a good place if your not going to be in the room much. It wasnt very clean, there were little bugs on the countertops in the morning. Were not allowed to smoke on your balconies or 25 feet from the building. So smokers bewear! Sad that you never know what you will get. They don't even offer pool towels at the pool!! And the condo we stayed in had old, thin towels! Next time we go we will NOT stay here!!!
Low budget outdated condo. Ok if you're on a low budget. I will stay at a more updated condo our next visit to Maui. The staff service was excellent, the grounds were nice and the pool was beautiful.
The grounds, pool area and view was great. the needed repairs and paint. there was an infestation of ants.
Besides rude personnel and dirty poorly maintained condos and amenities * fee is collected upon checkout. This resort does not have daily maid service unless you pay more for it. Otherwise its like twice a week or so.
We booked because of the cheap rate, location and air conditioning for S. Maui. The air conditioner was not turned on before arrival nor was their any ventilation open. HOT is an understatement. AC was size of a small microwave for a large 2 story condo. Box fan in upstairs 'loft' did not work so it was even more hot upstairs w/out ventilation. Asked office for a fan because maintenance would not be in until the morning. RELUCTANTLY gave up office fan as it was the only one of the premises apparently. Maintenance came in to fix fan. Left note on a paper towel said fan cannot be fixed. Took our fan away too! One bedroom in back of condo that gets little to now air has 2 twin beds. Full size bed upstairs not queen (unless the queen was from Oz). Pullout sofa in living room. Put our guests in it directly infront of AC so they could survive. AC blows directly onto the lanai which in turn boils anyone alive that wants to sit out and view the fountain. Property seemed maintained, nice grounds, attractive condo (spiral staircase to loft is not easy to navigate but looks great). Good working kitchen but one cabinet was full of open liquor and food and various other items. We felt that things were 'oversold'.
I booked a vacation package flight car and hotel price was excellent. Stayed on Maui Kihei in April six days. 2 adults 3 kids. Weather was perfect location was great hotel exterior was really nice. Beach accross the street. I stayed in a two bed room condo one queen size bed in each room plenty of space full kitchen plus washer and dryer Sofa bed in living room. First day TV remote controls in bedrooms did not work fixed the following day. Sofa bed broken was not fixed. Free wireless internet in pool area and lobby free interrnet in rooms my room did not have connection #40 3-301#41. The room came with 3 beach mats 3 boogie boards which my kids loved. I did see a lot of critters in kitchen area. No maid service unless you pay extra per day. Linen is changed halfway thru your stay. I was called the day before I left asking if I wanted it changed I opted out. Travel agency desk on site to help you book activities. I bought lua tickets at the Royal lahaina with a * dollars off if you attend a time share presentation not worth it even with the discount. Ask around before you go. Premium sitting is not worth the extra * dollars. I could have made a big fuss over the rooms but most of the time I was out and about enjoying the Island and it served my purpose. The place is really kept up on the exterior if only they could do the same for the rooms.
We are a family of five, 3 kids. The room had no drinking glasses other than coffee cups and wine glasses. The pillows were horrible and we didn't have enough towels for all five of us. The sheets on the bed were aweful... I've never 'stuck' to the sheets in the middle of the night, making it difficult to role over without waking up. The sheets didn't even cover the end of the bed, the mattress was showing. We won't be staying again.
For the big build up we got, I feel we were let down when we got our accomodations. The staff was friendly, but our room ended up overlooking the parking lot at the far back of the complex. When I asked if we could get some sort of view I was told it would cost an additional $50 a night! So, we looked at the parking lot for 3 days :( Our bed was awful ( having stayed at top knotch accomodations in the prior days of this vacation) we found the bed worse than a salvation army reject - flat, short, hard and lumpy. It squeaked loudly every turn over we made. The living room furniture was pretty, tropical wicker, but not comfortable for a sofa. We killed a million tiny bugs around the sink in the kitchen and was told by the management, ''Oh those....everyone has them''. No maid service comes with this room either without a $45 daily additional fee. No smoking even on your big patio outside....you must go to a bench marked ''smoking'' in the center of the complex. Not terribly convenient in your pajamas with your nightcap cocktail. but the number of people at the bench let you know there was standing room only there, regardless of time of day. We spent most of our time touring the island, but still, coming back to this room was very discouraging.
and has been. but this time I didn't book directly with the condo but created a package on a online travel agency. I think because of the package deal I got the lowest of low selections- absolutely no view, with a driveway of the neighboring condo complex just behind our lanai. Which meant much noise and traffic. It is the first time in 3 stays at this complex that we didn't spend any time on the lanai. If you have a choice- don't get building 8 or 9. also the wi-fi doesn't work in those buildings- but they have wired instead. - all for a daily fee. I appreciated that they now have daily trash take out service and towel replacement (if you desire, but think environmentally here) Our condo in particular needed the entry screen door realigned- it wouldn't shut without much tugging and shifting. The grill nearest our building needed cleaning and the picnic table seat was broken. My 160 lb husband sat on it and promptly crashed to the ground. Good thing that it wasn't Grandma. The cooking supplies in the condos are very basic. No plastic baggies or aluminum foil. The service personnel are very friendly and helpful. The common grounds, pool, and gardens are nice. I might give this complex another chance- but will be more choosey when it comes to buildings. We did give the feedback form to the front desk with the noted fixes - proof will be for someone else to report. The location across from Kam III beach and very close to the boat ramp and shopping is a plus.
Stayed at Castle Kamaole Sands the last week of September. Overall, a nice place. It was across the street from the ocean. We were in a one bed room 2 bath partial ocean view. The partial view was just that. You could see a tiny spec of ocean from the balcony. Also, they charged an extra $15.00 when we checked in for a resort rental property managementrental fee. Another way now days to take advantage of the traveler. Check in staff were polite but acted like it was just a job. Decorations were meager and showing age. Very clean. Old TV in the living room. Bed was comfortable. The assigned parking spot was a long ways from the room. With all the empty parking places, I think it could have been closer. Good security. The swimming pool and out side lawn/plants were attractive and well maintained. Good location. Stayed in better and worst places. Just average.
Dirty smelly condos that are not cleaned properly.
Grounds Nice. Condo very clean. Beds were sooo very uncomfortable. Air conditioning leaked. Dont call for help they won't come. Housekeeping was worthless until we pre-tipped. Not a great place for kids the pool was blah, too many rules they cater to old quiet folks and quiet couples, the pool guy is more like the pool police. Price was good but not good enough to live with coackroaches.
WE had a great time, but the staff did not seem interested in responding to our request for AC repair and towels, wash clothes, hand towels, etc.
If you're looking for something comfortable stay, better to try other than this place. Your room is always uncleaned, even though you ask to. They even told us a lie that they offered room cleaning but we denied, although no one ever came to our room.
We tried to reach the front desk several times with no avail. The bed was uncomfortable and hard. We read the guestook and the same complaints the previous people have spoke of throughout at least the last two years have never been replaced and or fixed. The carpeting, shower, and bed definitely needs to be replaced and or fixed. For all of these reasons, I regret to inform you that we will not be staying there again and were disappointed in that recommendation .Thank You
