Portmagee is a jump-off point for trips to the Skellig Islands, a must-see if time and weather allows. The Waterfront is an attractive house, with moderately well-appointed rooms, and a nice dining and living room areas.
Pros: The location of the B&B near the marina in Portmagee allowed us to walk to the marina in order to take the boat trip to the Skellig Islands (which is the big draw for this area).
Cons: It seems that the B&B isn't used to having children/teens. I was traveling with my teenage granddaughters, who were, as teenagers often are, a bit loud. This seemed to off-put the B&B owner a bit. She wasn't unpleasant at all, just hovered a bit. A minor
This beautiful, perfectly located home was everything we could have hoped for...and more. From the spacious, spotlessly clean room to the incredibly delicious full breakfast personally prepared by the lovely lady Tina and her husband, the Waterfront B&B was a little bit o' heaven in Portmagee! If you should ever be blessed to visit this sweet little piece of Ireland (and you should!), there's really only one place to lay yer oil' head: the Waterfront B&B! A wonderful place run by equally wonderful people!
Pros: From the moment we walked in this beautifully cozy home, and were warmly welcomed by Tina, we knew we had made the right decision selecting the Waterfront B&B for our lodging in the sweet cove called Portmagee. From the moment we arrived...perfection!
Cons: Nothing - absolutely perfect in every way!

Awesome location if you're doing Skellig Michael. It's literally across the street from boarding all the boats. The family-run business was amazing. I think they owned the B&B, the gift shop and the bar. The B&B was a charming home inside, very clean and had character. The lounge area was cute. Our upgraded room had a Jacuzzi, which was helpful after Skellig Michael, because your muscles will be sore! I also want to note their soaps were amazing (hope they keep using it!) BeeKind was the brand, and it's Irish honey and lemongrass and other herbs. It was so good, it was the first time I ever asked a hotel if I could get more of its soap. I was willing to buy a bottle, but they gave me some free samples to take home. Their restaurant had good food and again loved their decor! It was all boat themed of course, and they had lots of ship models, which I loved. The gift shop had a lot of unique gifts compared to all the gift shops in southern Ireland. To top it all off, the town of Portmagee is adorable. Plus, you must go see the amazing cliffs of Kerry about 2 km away (few minutes drive from the hotel). It is stunning. I personally think it's way better than the Cliffs of Moher, which is a major tourist attraction. The cliffs of Kerry (near Portmagee) is lesser known so there's not many people there, and the cliffs are just gorgeous. We were there for 1 night. The town is small so I think the main thing to do there is Skellig Michael, walk around town, do the cliffs of Kerry.
Pros: The friendly staff was amazing. They did a lot to accommodate us and upgraded our room because it wasn't busy. Awesome location!
