Pros: Very comfortable and clean bedroom and bathroom (bathroom separate but for our exclusive use, which was fine). Host Kimberley treads a perfect path, being attentive and extremely helpful, whilst not at all intrusive. Lots of thoughtful touches - e.g. access to a fridge with fresh milk and a selection of DVDs in the room.
Cons: Wasn’t a problem for our two night stay but the only downside is that the location means you can’t easily walk anywhere - eg. out for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Westwaterhead was perfect. From tea and biscuits in the garden on arrival, to the large comfortable room and private bathroom, through to the most excellent 'full English' breakfast each morning, this was a superlative experience.
Cons: It was deeply regrettable that I was only down for the weekend. A fortnight would have been much better! "I'll be back", as I believe The Terminator once said...

Pros: Breakfast was delicious, and we really enjoyed having a conversation with Jo and the other guests. Jo made us all feel like family. The room was spacious, the bathroom was enormous. Everything was sparkling clean. The views are stunning, all around is very pretty and quiet.
Cons: The narrow lines to get to the property take a little to get used to, specially if you take the 'shortest' route to Salcombe, at night! The bathroom is private (for the sole use of the room occupants) but you have to cross the corridor to get to it. It didn't bother us, but it might be a little inconvenient to others, so worth saying.

6.3 Good
Pros: The whole location and the view from the room is great and the décor is good and clean, and the staff were friendly
Cons: There was too much noise, from the bar and particularly from people out in the road outside the room. It included children running around screaming unchecked for a couple of hours, drunk people leaving (including being sick immediately outside) at 11.30, and staff leaving at 1. We asked the staff to ask people to have some consideration but nothing was done. We appreciate that the staff do not have control over the public but unfortunately running a pub in conjunction with a smart hotel is difficult - and would have been more acceptable if the prices reflect this The shower was broken, but was fixed quickly.

Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Service excellent. Quality of meals first rate.
Cons: Finding a place to park.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The views were to die for and so was the desert trolley at dinner
Cons: It's a very old fashioned hotel and needs some TLC. The room was tiny, we couldn't turn around in the bathroom and the shower was pathetic! It is a very expensive hotel so we expected much more luxury. We got 2 tea bags, no complimentary water and no milk. The B&B we stayed in after cost a third of this one and we got water. Fresh milk etc. The breakfast was okay. It's a buffet.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: We visited as part of our motorcycle tour and booked for one night as we made out way back through Devon. The property is a local pub with eight rooms in a renovated part of the property. There is extensive car parking to the side and rear of the property. Check in was simple and we were shown to our rooms - 2 doubles. For a single night they were ideal, but maybe a little small for any extended stay. All are en-suite. Room 8 is to rear of the property and nice and quiet. Some of the other rooms overlook the many road which starts to get busy around 6.30am. There is some traffic noise as a result. Bed was a small double, but comfortable. Evening meals are available at the bar. Portions are large and filling. - mostly homemade produce. They is nice selection of local beers ! Staff were very pleasant and accomodating. Breakfast is served in one of the bars and the menu is limited. However, the Globe full english is fresh, piping hot and used local produce. Other cereals and juices are available, along with coffee, tea and toast. I'm sure if you required something specific they could probably accomodate you. If you need an overnight stop, then we can recommend this property.
Cons: Road facing rooms - traffic noise Quite small double rooms Limited breakfast menu.

Pros: The food was good and well presented but a little expensive as were the drinks Nice to have the log fire in loungs The staff were always very helpful and friendly

Pros: Breakfast cooked to order . Splendid bacon superb sausages, Staff so helpful . Evening meal superb albeit a little slow .maybe but worth the wait.
Cons: Attic room very comfortable but no proper stand up shower and formidable amount of stairs ! Did not appreciate in very small print a 10% service charge (discretionary ) on each evening meal
7.0 Good
Pros: The house and small surroundings excellent. Staff very helpful. Your chef kindly agreed for us to share our main course on three occasions. The food was good.
Cons: Bath side falling off all the time. Dripping cistern not repaired. I asked during my original booking phone call for "a quiet superior room on the first floor" and we had a very noisy room (Lobelia no 2 room" above the reception area where I heard all the conversation below between clients and receptionists. At night many guests had loud chats in the same area. Thank goodness, my wife is very deaf!!

3.3 Mediocre
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The views, the staff, the location
Cons: The room could be alittle more modern it is a little old fashioned for my liking. And the weather wasn’t great !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a fantastic hotel with beautiful staff and people. I highly recommend. Food was amazing considering the price. A real gem. Absolutely loved it. I’ve noticed that some people have quoted the hotel as being dated. The hotel has hundreds of years history and would not want to loose that. If you want a travel lodge go elsewhere. It has a modern twist and is fabulous and keeps hold of its history.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was really helpful and friendly. I asked for a sea view which were given. It was right by the sea with great views. Lovely atmosphere. Clean and decorated nicely. Great breakfast and choice.
Cons: The windows of the property had a film over them so there was not a clear view out, could have been cleaned. The menu in the evening had quite a lot of items not available
7.5 Good
Pros: Cosy & traditional Good atmosphere
Cons: Steep stairs up to our room but this is an old property so largely unavoidable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pleased with everything
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast good, evening food fair Location for walkers good, nice views
Cons: The car parking situation is bad Cleanliness in some areas could be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast room had a stunning view over the cove. I had a continental breakfast that was better than some you get on the continent. Dinner was good and staff very friendly. Dogs were welcome everywhere with their owners in a clean spotless hotel, a pleasure to be in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the dogs allowed in the pub. The location is stunning even when raining. The staff are friendly and very good at what they do, nothing is too much trouble. The meals are so good and the choice so varied that we didn`t eat anywhere else. Also loved the items on sale at the pub to support the lifeboat, very nice touch.
Cons: there was nothing that I didn`t like
6.3 Good
Pros: View across Cove from room and lovely sunset. Good pub meal and breakfast. The Manager and staff friendly. Appealing location.
Cons: Never ending stairs and corridors to reach room. During a shower it suddenly stopped flowing. Sticky tables and breakfast crockery had remains of dried food on. Lack of hotel parking having to use council car park at cost of £5 per night.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Hope Cove is a gorgeous place so the hotel /pub accommodation is in a perfect position .
Cons: It was heaving as it was a sunny day. Food had pretty much ran out, we had an evening meal there I ordered white bait which came with just mayo and a ton of plain lettuce. Main was chicken skewers more lettuce and chips covered in balsamic vinegar, Staff apologised and didn’t charge for main but really they should have shut the kitchen!! Breakfast was ok but felt very sorry for the only member of staff on as he was run off his feet. Parking is also a pain as it’s limited so you end up paying for the public car park close by. The room was grubby, needs updating and smells of cheap air fresheners. A clean of the windows may help too
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room looking out to the sea was great. The room was comfortable and clean. It was partners birthday and although last minute, they had arranged balloons and little cupcakes for us which was a fantastic touch. We had breakfast at the hotel in the morning which was very nice!
