Pros: We got a friendly welcome on arrival and the room was large with comfortable beds. The hotel is close to all amenities in Kingussie and there is ample off street parking. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place is wonderful. Lydie is the perfect host. Top notch breakfast, I already miss the croissants. Thanks for everything! Should I ever be in the area again, I'll definitely go back.
Cons: Just to complain about something, the drapes could be thicker, at least for those of us that are used to sleeping in complete darkness. There are many hours of light in July in Scotland. Anyway, an hour of sleep at Lydie's counts as much as two in any other place so no big problem :)

We booked dinner on the Saturday and it was a gastronomic delight. Lydie cooked an amazing meal, with suitable wines for each course. A fantastic experience!
Cons: A longer stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely Victorian house with a genuine Victorian atmosphere. I am looking forward to having a dinner there again. The hospitality we experienced is an example to landlords and landladies. Beste lezer, dit is een aanrader.
Cons: Nothing at all to be honest. We love the countryside, so the location was not what we wished for. That will not stop us from booking a room here next time we will be in the neighbourhood. The landlady is a charming lady who bends over backward to accomendate you. Onze volgende reis naar deze regio brengt ons beslist terug naar Lydie.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: We were overnighting on our way north - this was a perfect spot to stop. We were up early and didn't eat breakfast so cannot comment on that, but the welcome was warm and friendly and the owners particularly helpful in allowing me to keep medication and cool packs in the fridge/freezer overnight. Comfy beds and quiet location.
Cons: The rooms are not en suite, and as everyone else staying went to bed at the same time on the night we were there, there was a bit of a queue to get into the bathrooms. But the hosts do at least provide dressing gowns in the rooms for midnight trips to the loo!
7.5 Good
Cons: Shared bathroom

Pros: We had a very nice dinner at the hotel and found a few new whiskey to try in the bar.
Cons: Our room was spacious but out friends got a smaller room in the attic and complained about the ceiling. Otherwise the staying was good.
5.0 Okay
Pros: we were put into the smallest room they had because a large party booked after us which wasn't very fair. you could hardly swing a cat in it.it would suit 1 person staying in it. we did mention it but they had no other rooms available even though we booked months in advance. they said they would give us free b'fast as we hadn't booked it but we had booked it with booking .com but got no refund.
Cons: the tiny bedroom
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The pillows were like clouds which was perfect after an 8 hour drive. Ideally located for the highland wildlife park. And a 15 minute drive to some lovely restaurants if you don’t want to eat in the hotel
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was on the big side and it was very nice and light with big windows. Large and convenient parking. Friendly staff. We had a good dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast, which you order, was also good. Silent, despite being on the main road. Snacks and tea in the room.
Cons: Bad shower, where it was not possible to regulate hot/cold in a normal fashion. Other strange things in the bathroom - no towel hooks/holders, bathroom door lock on the outside (??)
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, value and friendly staff
Cons: The restaurant closes really early, especially on a sunday so we had to go looking for somewhere else for an evening meal We were given our room and then told that we would need to move for the following night as that room was booked. We were moved to the top floor into a smaller room. The door was in a really poor state with the lock almost hanging off. One shove and anyone could have got in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast lady was extremely good and very attentive . The rooms were clean and freshly decorated.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Avondale House in Kingussie, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Kingussie Golf Club and Highland Folk Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location & room were good.
Cons: The check in time posted online when we made the reservation was 15:00, but when we arrived (early), we were told that we couldn't check in until 15:30. We went for a walk and arrived back around 15:15, but our hostess did not return until 15:35 to let us in. Since we travelling by train, it is always important to be able to access our room promptly since we have no vehicle to accommodate us in the meantime. Our hosts lacked current information on the food establishment hours in Kingussie. They were also unaware of some of the travel options locally.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really nice owners, did everything that was needed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Parking on site, quiet place, comfy beds, TV, across the street from a great restaurant,l. Accomodation offers delicious breakfast inc.fresh fruit (had the cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel). Complimentary tea/coffee. Friendly owners. Close to town center.
Cons: We only stayed for 1 night, everything was working the way it should.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was very handy and the car parking was ideal at the front of the property. Our room was very big and the en suite was good. It was very comfortable staying there and the beds were comfy, the hosts were both lovely people and we loved Tyson the dog too.
Cons: can't think of anything that we didn't like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, beautiful location, excellent food & comfortable, luxurious rooms. Wonderful place to stay, would definitely return. Great value for money too. It's only about 15 minutes drive from the Highland Wildlife park too so you can get there early & have a full day :)
Cons: Nothing, it was lovely.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Avondale House owners Steve and Sue are very friendly. The house is nice and in a good location on the main street in Kingussie. It's a five minute drive to Ruthven Barracks and an ideal base for exploring the Cairngorms. Price wise it's very reasonable compared to other properties in the area. We enjoyed our two night stay here
Cons: It's only a minor gripe but with only the bed to sit on, a chair in the room would be a good idea
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were lovely and the room was very comfortable and clean. Kingussie is a cute little town with all the services you might need (including a laundrette). There is so much to do in the Cairngorms! About 5 minutes away is the Highland Folk Museum and it takes around 15 minutes to get to the Rothiemurchus Centre where you can do pony trekking, clay shooting, white water rafting and so much more. We would definitely recommend staying in this awesome guest house in this beautiful town!
Cons: -
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, good location for onward journey. Local pubs and restaurants for evening meal. Parking and outside seating, quiet. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment but it smelled nice! Generous complimentary items, tea, coffee, sugar etc We had a budget room so no en-suite but a private bathroom across the hall but for the price it was great - who needs En-suite taking up half the bedroom? Would stay there again definitely.
Cons: Nothing really about Avondale. The Bistro across the road was a bit pretentious with high food prices and tiny portions, so recommend somewhere else for evening meal but they were OK for drinks.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice people with a lovely household. Thank you!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Nothing at all, probably whoever is booking for chalet! Probably, Loved by locals doing bike riding....
Cons: Room was so old and little... unbelievable....Not clean at all and stinky. Old fashion Restaurant it look nice but... was fully booked for dinner.... with the only option to be in diet for evening. i was trapped! All over- unfortunately, worst experience in my last 10 years of world traveler from far.

Pros: Breakfast was amazing. First- by the lake with wonderful view, second- full english breakfast plus much more, whatever you like for breakfast- cereal, fruit, jam, honey, coffee, milk, juice. It was amazing. The surroundings wonderful. The lake and nature around were stunning. Not a better place to stay.
Cons: The room very small, no table, old bathroom, old beds with many hanwritings on them. Very odd smell that makes us unable to sleep (eventually we got half of the price back- very helpful and caring lady at the reception desk).

Cons: Room tiny in comparison to photo on website.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was nice by the lake, the food was fine and location to travel around the region was excellent
Cons: The rooms are essentially very basic - more appropriately described as children's dormitories ( with carved in graffiti on beds!). It is clean but the pictures are misleading. There was no changing of linen, bed making or bin clearing. It would make sense if taking a school trip but not really as a family room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: location , hospitality
Cons: small room and medium showers

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Had a happy overnight stay here with a last minute booking. Comfortable night's sleep in a spacious double room. The hotel is within easy driving distance of Aviemore and the Highland Wildlife Park. Breakfast was nice, and the lady who served us was kind enough to give us a table next to the window on a hot summer's day. Got a good value rate for a Saturday night!
Cons: Was disappointed that the Lounge Bar with Cask Ales was closed by 10pm when we returned from dinner elsewhere, would have been nice to have the option for a quiet drink rather than going to the main bar which was largely taken over by a large tour group.
9.5 Excellent

5.5 Okay
Pros: Good location and car park. Bed linen and towels fresh. Adequate shower. Breakfast adequate.
Cons: It’s shrieks ‘the 80’s’ and not in a good way. The decor and bedroom furniture were dated.
