Pros: Everything was truly amazing: the food, the location, the privacy. The staff were super friendly, helpful and spoke or understood English (though google translate helped with some of the more tricky bits). The private outdoor hot spring was large and serene.
Cons: The only disappointing thing was that I didn't book a second night as we didn't get to explore the surrounding area.

Cons: Complicated to travel to, but they do offer a pick up service for free from the station

Pros: I loved the staff, they were so nice and very polite. I also enjoyed the food at meal time and how they took the time to explain everything to us. I also loved the hot spring and how it was split into two sides, one regular temperature and one hotter temperature.
Cons: I wished there were more lighting options out in the hotspring area.

Pros: - Staff is very nice, there are welcome drink (sake or hot tea). Staff will bring you and your luggage to the room by herself. Staff try to advice everything in the room in Japanese. - Excellent dinner with Yaki-niku (grilled meet) - Excellent breakfast - 3 different hot bath that you can use and the bath will switch from male to female and female to male every morning. It's mean you can use the different hot bath when you stay in this hotel.
Cons: - It's not easy to find this hotel even if this hotel is correctly pinned on booking and google map. You have to turn right on the small bridge, and the road is narrow. - There are small parking in front of the hotel, however you have to give your car key to the staff and he will find where to park your cars. - If you search the name of this hotel in google map it will show the chain hotel that is located near this hotel. Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient, quiet location in a very scenic landscape. From the first moment, you felt being the personal guest of the landlord. The interior resembles a fishing museum - and you get exciting stories told by the landlord.
Cons: Any complaint would be an insult to the great hospitality of this house..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners of donaludo pension are very nice and friendly. Thier hospitality made my trip very memorable. The accommodation is beautiful and very comfortable. Very prime location. There’s an open air Onsen close by and lots of other Onsens within a short driving distance. From here you can easily get to Goshiki-numa trail and have a very nice 2 hour walk where you get in touch with beautiful nature unlike anywhere I’ve seen. I am looking forward to return here during ski season and to try some ice fishing:)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything about Donaludo! Dinners and breakfasts were great. Coffee was amazing - fresh roasted, ground and brewed right there! Really enjoyed meeting Tadasho and telling fishing stories, talking about music, hearing about how he worked in a Russian restaurant (that's why his meals were so good!) and meeting his friend. We had a great time sitting around after dinner and visiting - and maybe even singing along with a song or two. The room we were in was really nice - large and clean. And I loved the bath - so nice to soak in a warm bath after a day hiking. All in all we couldn't have asked for anything more and would definitely stay again if we visit that area in the future.
Cons: Everything was great! Nothing we didnt like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing stay with an amazing host!
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Food
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice owner, great hospitality Good dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tadasho and his wife were lovely, really out to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfasts were perfect not to mention the freshly roasted coffee every morning. The multi course evening meal would be tough to beat leading into evenings spent talking and listening to Jazz in the lounge. The place was spotless. Really good location for our needs with several ski fields super close by, the rest all within a 30 minute car ride.
Kutsurogijuku Chiyotaki - Aizuwakamatsu - Building

8.7 Excellent (1,037 reviews)

Located in Aizuwakamatsu, Kutsurogijuku Chiyotaki is on the boardwalk, within a 5-minute drive of Oyakuen Garden and Aizuwakamatsu Castle. Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage. Free valet parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at Kutsurogijyuku Chiyotaki. The room was a good size and the dinner was fantastic. Having a choice of two hot spring facilities on site is a bonus and sitting back in the water while contemplating a towering, snow-covered mountain was quite wonderful. The staff were friendly and welcoming, to the extent of helping us to park our car and catering for a non-seafood eater. The property provided a very comfortable base for exploring the highlights of Aizuwakamatsu.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: I want to go to this hotel because of the onsen. But the onsen wasn’t look like it’s shown in the picture.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Kutsurogijyuku Chiyotaki is a very nice Japanese ryokan with a warm staff and traditional interiors. Higashiyama Onsen town is an excellent place to stay and explore Aizu-Wakamatsu. The hot springs are lovely, especially the outdoors; they offered nice bath products and I loved that. We booked a geiko (geisha) for a private dinner and that was worth the money. Kaiseki dinner of mountain vegetables and excellent beef was very good, although for a longer stay this might get old for western travelers. They offered several western choices for breakfast like baked french toast and creme brulee that were delicious. The staff was incredibly nice and capable, and aside from the hot springs location would be the prime reason I would recommend this ryokan.
Cons: As with most Japanese lodging, the room is expensive but that is Japan.
5.8 Okay
Pros: room, cleanliness, breakfast
Cons: location is not good, I travel alone with bag and ask for free shuttle pick up at station. you cannot provide, and told me to catch the bus and walk for 12 minutes. I took taxi because I have big luggage, taxi cost is yen 2000. moreover, if you stay here you cannot go to other place just stay here. no shop, no village around for sightseeing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel and good view from room , there are nice outdoor onsen.
Cons: It very difficult to go back hotel, if we go back late than 18:30 pm from downtown.
7.0 Good
Pros: I have to first talk about the famed Japanese customer service. The staff at this ryokan certainly lived up to the reputation of the Japanese for excellent customer service. I especially want to point out Yukako and Mafune. Upon arrival, the staff first greet you and then have you sit in the sofa in the lounge. They provide a cup of tea or sake before anything else. Very nice. Then they call you to the counter and check you in. One of the things they ask you is when you would like to have dinner--you have a choice of early or late dinner. Then they take you to your room. I opted for the Japanese style room. In the ryokan fashion, the room consisted of tatami mats. There was a flat screen TV, and a functional closet. The balcony had two chairs, a table, and a small fridge. The bathroom was small but functional. The entire room, in the ryokan fashion was small and minimalist. Next to the helpful staff, the absolute highlight was the Kaiseki dinners. The dinners were amazing. I cannot even begin to describe what a culinary treat and adventure the multi-course dinners were like. In the Kaiseki manner, you just start sampling the numerous small dishes that are first presented to you. And then, just when you thought you were making good progress satiating your appetite, the staff manages to surprise you with another dish from the kitchen--a small plate of sashimi, a plate of tempora, steamed veggies, a bowl of miso vegetable soup, and desserts. You're able to order from their list of various sake. I highly recommend you try them. Ask the staff for a recommendation. The staff will be happy to provide you with a recommendation.....in Japanese. This is JAPAN. Check your entitlement at the door. English is not widely used here. As a Japanese language student, I found the lack of English to be an excellent study aid.
Cons: Housekeeping could have been better. For example, the door to my room was filthy. There was layers of dust caked on the door hinges. Staff could be more generous with bath towels. The staff hands out ONE towel and only ONE towel when you check in at the front counter. Repeat: ONE towel. Better take care of it. Staff did a good job transporting you to the nearest bus stop (about 4 minutes away). And, they picked you up right away when you called them. But, it would have been so awesome if they could transport you directly to and from the Station.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great views from the onsen. Comfortable bedding.
Cons: No dinner available. Some rooms don't have a shower or bath. Bar didn't open.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The baths are beautiful and relaxing and the staff very welcoming. Dinner and breakfast was great with local fresh products. If you want to experience authentic Japanese food, this is just the place for you. There are a number of activities and places you can relax in which I absolutely recommend.
Cons: Transportation was not well explained (came by bus). It's only about 5/10min from the station on a slope though.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly relaxing admire rewarding, especially after the massive hike to get there. Incredibly warm staff despite language barrier, hot springs were a great experiences, the futons surprisingly comfortable to my Western perspective. View from the the room couldn't be beat. Highlight of my trip.
Cons: Location is quite hard to reach so be prepared for some uphill walking. Also, not their fault, but if you're an English speaker prepare for even greater lack of English signs/speakers than normal.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice place for relaxing, delicious food and onsen with nice view
Cons: Less English information

10.0 Excellent
Pros: After traveling all across Japan throughout my many years living in this country, this has to be the single best value-for-money hotel experience I've had here. This beautiful ryokan overlooks a deep gorge with a fast-flowing green river below, with each hotel room and the various onsen having beautiful views of this sight. The onsen are all wonderful, with the terraced roteburo outdoor sections being my favorite - and the stone-floored ganbayoku sauna is relaxing and meditative. The food is fantastic; a bountiful selection of traditional Japanese food at dinner and breakfast, and delicious local sake offerings. The service is great, the hotel interior is beautiful and tasteful, the daily shamisen performance and mochi-making event are both very worth checking out, and the on-site karaoke rooms and izakaya are fun to spend an evening at with friends before retiring to your attractive and spacious traditional ryokan-style room. I've stayed at many wonderful ryokans, but this one really outshone most other hotels I've stayed at in Japan - especially at a very affordable price compared to many upscale Japanese hotels. I had such a good time here my first time that I've already come back a second - and am looking forward to a third the next time I come through this beautiful prefecture.
Cons: I don't think I can think of any. Pretty much a perfect experience for me.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great Mountain View beside the river but no way to get to the river, Good dinner and breakfast buffet The non smoking room is good has no cigarette smell like some Onsen.

Pros: The room, the dinner, and the onsen.
Cons: The breakfast restaurant was very crowded. Food is not as good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Even though the staff's English was limited and my Japanese was limited too, communication was not that hard. We also had a translator app that helped out a lot!! Loved the room. The view of the river and mountainside we had was absolutely beautiful. The food served was fresh and delicious. Also, loved that we were able to reserve the private onsen. It was too bad that we couldn't take advantage of the massage service.
Cons: Sleeping on the futon was a little hard to firm. Bathroom still had a pretty bad smell even with the air freshener.

Pros: Beautiful location, impressive interiors, friendly staff, excellent gourmet food.
Cons: Unexpected & very expensive onsen (hot springs) tax but this wasn't applied to our account this time, we think. Hotel shuts down completely at lunchtime & there is local food facilities within walking distance. No laundry service. No food room service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service, Food, Everything
Cons: Not at this moment
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The facility is huge, well maintained and very beautiful. We had reserved rooms with a private bath and the view was very nice. The food and staff were excellent, too. The decor around the hotel is tasteful and artistic.
Cons: The check-in staff was not too friendly and had a mix up with our name (as the leaders) and one of our friend’s name as somehow their name showed up first on the list. So they were assigned our room, which we had upgraded. When we realized the mistake, we couldn’t tell our friends to change rooms, so we ended up in a smaller room. I tried explaining to the staff at check-in that we were the “leaders” but they didn’t seem to listen. I don’t know if you booing.com computers change the names around or not, but it became confusing at check-in.

6.8 Good
Pros: The onsen is very nice, the outdoor pools were great and i got to.experience them with falling snow. The reception staff are very helpful.
Cons: the breakfast is ok, lots of variety but low quality. The dinner option which is quite expensive is a buffet option only. It is also medium quality like the brekafast at an elevated price. Sadly there is only a 7-eleven nearby, and buses stop at 5pm.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel provided free shuttle bus to a nearby night festive event.
Cons: The buffet dinner and breakfast is not a preferential style for an onsen hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was awesome. There were so many nice choices for breakfast and dinner. Free shuttle to and from the Aizu-Wakamatsu train station at set times, which was convenient for us. The onsen was terrific. The open air 3 level onsen had an great view of the town below. My double bed room was supposed to have 1 queen bed, but it seemed like it was a king bed and was roomy enough for 2 of us, but my friends had a twin bed/family room with a tatami area and a sitting area. It was huge and beautiful and was only $50 more per night and I would choose that room next time!
Cons: Crowded buffet at peak time. Barely space to walk. No wifi in the bedrooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an all inclusive property you get dinner and breakfast. The massage was an amazing price and onsen had unbelievable views. Good selection in buffet between western and japanese cuisine.

Pros: The room was clean and spacious. Onsen was wonderful, view from the bath - gorgeous.

Pros: Great room. Nonsmoking. In the new building there was a separate Onsen bath for those in the new building.

Pros: We loved our large twin room with an outlook to trees by the lake. The buffet dinner and breakfast was plentiful with a great range of dishes. Location was perfect for the start of the Goshikinuma walk across the road. Coach service to and from Inawashiro station was also very convenient - ask for the scheduled times beforehand.

Pros: Nice onsen Room big enough for 4 persons Staff is very friendly and helpful
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Not what we expected. Nobody spoke English and a long way from the town centre. The bath was a joke and the Onsen packed all day! We stayed at the weekend and it seemed to be a hotel popular for stag parties.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Shosuke no Yado Takinoyu Onsen hotel's front desk service is very good, there is a lady that can speak good English. The front desk manager was very accommodating and adjusted the private onsen booking time to ensure we were able to catch the sunset view at rooftop onsen. The onsen hotel also upgraded our room, the view of the stream from our room was beautiful. The onsen hotel shop sells a Yuhaku sake face wash which is exclusively produced by the hotel, the sake face wash makes the skin feels instant silky soft after wash. The hotel location is very convenient, easily accessible via loop bus from AizuWakamatsu station as there is a bus stop right in front of hotel. The onsen hotel is very value for money, 5-star accommodation at 3-star price :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean, refined, warm, everyone was kind and it had a lot of additional services! Free beer and ice cream, evening shows, free yukata service, food is delicious.

Pros: Calm and lovely ambiance near by the city. Beautiful scenery, hotel along the river with an amazing view.
Cons: N/A
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Service and complimentary was very good.
Cons: There was multiple fish bone in sashimi, dinner course.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The actual onsens were o.k. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were kind and thoughtful.
Cons: Location inconvient. Local train ride very rough and lasted over one hour each way. The place is literally sitting on a cliff. Facilities offered minimal comforts. Sparce on towels and other supplies. Plus, small quarters in shower and toilet areas. We are still trying to understand the unrepaired hole in the wall, apparently caused by the door handle. Photos shown are contrary to actual accommodations. The quality of the food was sub-standard. Chicken was served skin-on. Entire dinner unappetizing. Front desk staff and dining room need to practice better communication techniques. I.e. Front desk cannot promise a desk "private dining" then dining room staff does otherwise. This place scores a negative grade on patron's wellbeing and relaxation since there is and underlying feeling that a timer is activated once you check-in. WHO IS RUNNING THE PLACE? This question for us remains unanswered.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very nice. Hotel is in the good location with beautiful view.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The view is so amazing. We can see the waterfall in every room including public baths. There are about 6 private onsens which are the so lovely. Free beers and ice creams are available between 3-7:00 PM.
Cons: I forgot to ask for a non-smoking room, so our room had a strongly smell of cigarette.
