Easy to get to and park Would like a mini bar in room
The breakfast buffé was astonishing, the atmosphere was very cosy, staff very friendly. Would definitely come back again. Open bathroom idea not extremely appealing to me.
the room was just fabulous, real good value for money! none
Food, location, room, service was excellent ! The service was very good but not excellent.
Very modern. Very clean. Quite original so it changes from the other hotels ! I had the opportunity to go over there because of a promotion. Let's wee when it will the full price... The restaurant is not really a restaurant but a luxury cafeteria. Good, but not a large choice.
Nice location in a suburb of Apeldoorn and we enjoyed a day trip through beautiful woods into De Hoge Veluwe national park and Kroeller-Mueller art museum with bicycles hired at the hotel. The restaurant was crowded and busy during the buffet dinner time, when many people form the town seemed to come to enjoy dinner. This proves how popular the place is, but it would be better for the hotel guests to avoid that time as the staff seemed to be very hectic and too busy to take enough care of them.
location is good. Yes, service was poor, staff not well trained, food quality was barely adequate but service in restaurant was very poor
Breakfast was very good; and large room. far away from the city
The hotel is very modern and very well equipped. The family room we got was really amazing and large. Excellent value for money. No refrigerator in the room. A bit strange for this kind of hotel.
Great location and great food for an affordable price The restaurant was understaffed during diner time, getting a drink or the bill took longer than expected.
Good workers The room was cold.
The staff were very hospitable and friendly. Which helped made our stay very enjoyable. This was made even more so by the provision of hot drinks during the marathon (the reason we were staying). and especially by the member of staff who stood out in the cold giving the drinks out. Many thanks.
Breakfast was very good
Greeted with a complimentary drink for each of us. Caution: They automatically add 13 Euro x people x days stayed to your bill above what you agree to on booking.com. However, once I made them aware on day one, that no meals would be consumed, they happily removed the charges. We stayed there to have a somewhat local (40 min trip away) to Walibi World Amusement park. About the park... I have a 13 year old and when we first drove up to it, combined with the low fee of 26 Euro for an adult ticket, we didn't expect much. We stayed from opening to close, and had a blast. If you like rides, I recommend that you visit Walibi World if you stay here. Overall great experience. Especially for the price.
room was big, clean and very pleasent. hotel is located 2 min from central apeldoorn and close to several attractions in the area. nice swimming pool. sports room is small, not many instruments
Central in the city It's not a 4-star hotel, it's not clean and the breakfest is expensive!!
Well situated and easy to find. Very convenient for visiting Het Loo Palace.
the lounge, it was a nice place for a drink with the fire place, cosy. the beds (2 single beds instead of double), when we asked for it it couldn't be changed.breakfast was poor, less choice
The hotel was warm I found the some staff were not very helpful at all. The room was not always clean and at times had not been cleaned at all, the bed covers just pulled up but not made underneath, the floor was not vacummed, towels were not in the room, was just generally not clean. To have to go and ask for towels at the reception was not good and then to be given them to take back to the room was not acceptable, they should have been taken to the room by your staff, after all I was the one on holiday not your staff. Our stay was not a pleasant one.
Was ok, not very surprising, no too bad
The staff were very helpful and welcoming, holding the restaurant open for us to allow for our slightly late arrival. The rooms were well appointed and very clean, the double room was very spacious. What was included represented excellent value for money with a really good and more than adequate breakfast included. We also had a good evening meal at a very reasonable price. Only slight criticism - the wine list was very limited. Absolutely not!
Decent hotel, a little expensive. The room was very nice, and had a bathtub. Great service in the restaurant The internet connection was very expensive, and didn't even work for me. The muzak in the bar was really bad-old sappy 70s songs. A little difficult to get to town and back on the bus.
Clean, very comfortable bed, good breakfast Very small room, no tea/coffee facilities
location expensive meal, Spa expensive
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. breakfast was nice. and the location of the hotel was perfect for us.
Everything. In fact we were booked in for just 1 night before intending moving on to Munster. Instead we cancelled Munster and stayed at the Hampshire an extra night. Not a thing.
Pleasant staff, especally lady who was on duty in the restaurant on Friday 21st May evening at 9.00pm, Oriental/Asian lady was very helpful and friendly.Close to shopping and restaurants, nice quiet area, very peaceful. Pillows could be a little firmer and not so soft, and maybe the mirror in the bathroom could be a little lower for shorter people.
Wellness Jacuzzi/Sauna/Steam Bath/Shower! Themed rooms. Hire of bicycle facility. Room next to lift shaft.
Everything was good There was nothing to dislike
The reception eems to be efficiently run and the hotel is in an attractive wooded residential area just off the ring road on the edge of the city centre (15 to 20 minute walk). The normal bedroom size is somewhat cramped and our room was not well decorated or furnished in an attractive style. The bathroom window was in a defective condition and repairs of this type need more urgent attention.
Location and amenities
The hotel has very well appointed rooms and a very fine restaurant. The indoor pool on the top floor is a very nice place to relax. It is very handy for a visit to Palace Het Loo
The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop, which allowed us to take public transport to the Kroeller-Mueller museum. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and restaurant is also quite good. The swisscom business center was clunky and expensive with a printer that did not function. The hotel staff did their best to make up for the deficiencies. Given how ubiquitous the internet has become both for business and for personal use (e.g. Facebook), the hotel really needs to update its approach to this technology.
Staff helpful, room clean and very comfortable with excellent bathroom. Good swimming pool and roof terrace Great breakfast/ easy free parking
Very pleasant and peaceful location. (Bit out of centre but right next to Het Loo palace and good bus service or bikes to hire at hotel.) Excellent room, sunny balcony, lovely bar terrace, good size swimming pool. Excellent VFM at weekend break rate. Top notch breakfast. No but please note that the bus to/from the station to this hotel is number 10 (ten) not number 1 (one) as on info provided
a very pleasant clean comfortable hotel with a good restuarant and friendly effecient staff.
Despite a latish arrival the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room service was quick and delicious. We both slept well so the bed must have been comfortable as well. The included breakfast the following morning was most comprehensive. All in all great value for money. Didn't really have time to find any faults as we were only there about 10 hours!
The availability of sauna, swimming pool and steam-bath. No air conditioning. Usually not a problem, unless it's summer.
We arrived very late and were still served dinner. Flexible service. Good food. Good shower, very clean bathroom. Good bed. It's a long walk from town centre. No cash machines in the wide area. Of course, this is just a downside of the hotel's great location.
very comfortable, relaxing and quite place
housekeeping need improvement.
The brekfast was delicious hotel is very ok for me. I will recommendate this hotel to friend and also I will visit it again :) Thank you
Very helpful staff. Clean rooms, nice and quite. Lovely wood area
Good layout, our room (a corner room) was spacious and well lighted, same with the restaurant, the park around the hotel is beautiful and it is right in the forest. It is also very easily accessible from the A50 highway. It is close to the highway and trucks are carrying on all night - if your room is on the highway side and you have sensitive ears it can be a nuisance. The bedding is very warm and because of proximity to the highway it is not possible to ventilate the room as that would only increase the noise level.
peaceful, right area, good bar food & service They offered a room without terrace before I reminded them we had booked a room with terrace.
supply of coffee/tea during breakfast
Beds are Really good Nice and quiet location of the rooms Breakfast definately was not worth Eur.17.50
The price and location is good. The bathroom is poor.
Quiteness of the Place The hotel is composed of a number of separate villas scattered in the forest so you need to have few minutes walk to the restaurant and other facilities. Each villa is made up of two floors with one room in each floor. The nearest bus stop is around 10-15 minutes. There are no nearby restaurants, shops or any kind of life at all. It is really scary quite place.
Location. Quiet. Charge of €10 per day for the dog. When questioned about this, the hotel had to admit that the charge was for vacuuming the room each day. I consider vacuuming the room each day part of normal hotel procedure. Hotel did refund the charge after we complained about it. In general we had to push the cleaning staff to clean the bathroom each day. Not something one expects in a hotel of any class let alone one which advertises itself as a high class hotel. The following comments apply to Booking.com, not the hotel: Room is advertised as double with terrace but had twin beds. Hotel told us there are no double beds at the hotel. Hotel is advertised as no pets allowed but pets are allowed.
I particularly liked the layout and overall concept of the hotel and leisure complex. The restaurant also has a very nice atmosphere. The only critisism is the rather steep and narrow stairs to the accomodation level which might be a problem for some guests
very quiet, perfect;
Excellent hotel in picturesque woodland setting. Very good facilities. Room quiet, clean and comfortable. Good restaurant and also very extensive choice for breakfast. It was very warm during my stay so air conditioning in my room would have been much appreciated.
breakfast was OK It was not worth 4 stars. It was more a holiday camp with conference facilities. Website is very misleading. Rooms were not clean and dirty towels and waste were left between the trees. Sorry
They had expensive and not very expensive rooms available, for me the room was exceptional value for money while still being very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and their english easily understood. Due to the heat, the mosquitoes woke me up at night and there was no bug spray in the room.
A wonderful old house ( the white) but in very poor condition, a shame.Too expensive. Restaurant too expensive and a very short meny, but the food was nice.
I really liked the enviremont with nature around the hotel, its quiet and peacefull like am a bad sleeper in general but not at the fletcher hotel, slept like a rose .Had a good stay and the price rate is very good compare for what you get . I would say the dark halway to the rooms upstairsfelt a bit unconfortable, like there was only one light that switched on in the whole corridor.
The hotel was very nice, nice nature, very calm...
Good, will stay there again.
The location is perfect. Due to a wedding downstairs it was rather noisy
Nice setting in a wood, the environment invites you to walking or biking During of our visit, high temperature not appropriate airco and ventilation. Hotel is not any more "state of the art"
Interesting concept of rooms representing cities around the world. Nice area, scenery. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
nice room, very friendly staff, you feel like at home
The kindness of the owners, the breakfast variety, the confort and space of the room and the general sense of being at home.
big and lovely rooms. the owners of these family hotel are very nice and helpfull. they just need to handle their employees better.. no phone in the room, no wireless connection on the second floor rooms. we found some hair remains on our bed and in the shower. the cleaning lady opened our room door at 11:00 and gave us 15 minutes to get out..
Very good room. I recomend it.
nice idea with rooms in different style, owner very friendly
The hotel was central to the city and just a short distance to Het Loo Palace. The breakfast was good.
Very friendly welcome, good recommendations for restaurants and visits. Excellent breakfasts and spacious rooms.
I was very pleased to find a non smoking hotel. The service was friendly and helpful but never obtrusive and the buffet style breakfast was superb. The hotel was in a quiet street but within just a few minutes walk from the centre.
it's very really good Hotel when I stayed 10 days in Holland. Nice and Frandly service. no.
The family is very friendly and helpful. The chance for a drink at nighttime before retiring to bed.
I really liked the hotel, because it was very close to the citycenter of Apeldoorn, also there was a busstop around the cornor for going to the trainstation. The hotel stuff was nice and helpfull, my room and bath were beauty (really good bed!) clean and fresh refurbished. Breakfast was good. none
This is a beautiful, well cared for, period hotel, with friendly staff. All the rooms are very comfortable and well decorated, and the location is tranquil. It is quite near to the Het Loo palace, in an area with beautiful houses and avenues. It's not a dislike, it's more mild than that--the hotel was much further from the station than I thought it was, so it would have been nice to know that the Berg and Bos bus stopped directly in front of it. If this information was included, I didn't see it.
We could easily walk from the train station. Room was small but clean. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Very friendly greeting on arrival. Helpfull staff re local ammenities and places to eat. Clean airy rooms and excellent breakfast. Would certainly stay again if in the area. Though not a problem for us we did feel the stais to the second floor rooms were a little steep and narrow. this did not diminish our enjoyment of this hotel.
Liked the location and the friendliness of the owners. They were extremely helpful
Very well maintained comfortable rooms. Pleasant staff. Very good restaurant and free internet and parking. Will defintely come back. Lots of free car parking but had to walk 2-3 minutes from hotel as there was a conference on.
very nice room, huge bathroom and excellent breakfast
nice room, very good bathroom, good restaurant
super friendly atmosphere with great food
staff was nice and helpfull. decent bathroom for the price you are paying. not very clean, spiderwebs everywere. We asked for a quit room with our booking but got a ground floor room right next to the entrance and outside terrace. The staff was helpfull to change rooms, but the only other room left was extremely moist and smelly, very unhealthy. So we had to stay in the original room.
peopel were very accomodating. Sigaret smoke in the office, hall ways and reception area.
we were on the quiet site of the hotel the breakfast was very basic, the key was kept on a place that every one could pick up the key. so we kept the key of the room with us.
Food was good, service good, staff communiocated well, overall satisfactory visit. Bedroom had the smell of stale tobacco, previously someone had been smoking in the room.
friendly staff, quied countryside, very nice atmosphere to family escapade, location closed to interesting places in Holland
Friendly staff, quietness of the location; nice breakfast. Room interiors and common areas look old fashioned, but still ok.
family run & very pleasant. They were very helpful to my husband on a mobility scooter.
great breakfast, beautiful environment, great cycling opportunities small room and thin walls, you could hear everything, stinky bathroom, there are two blocks, we stayed in the older and cheaper one. But not as bad as it sounds. You get what you pay for.
Great hotel staff, lovely country side.
Friendly staff, nice location, free of charge internet access, good breakfast with warm breadrolls :D
it is a family run hotel and everyone was very nice and very kind. Wonderful people! breakfast until 10a.m. would have been perfect.
Tranquil in all rspects Directions poor !
The staff were very friendly Difficult to find.
Surroundings area is gorgeous. Yes.It was very cold in the room between 02 am and 07 am when Ieft it.
I loved the staff. They were extremely helpful and accommodating.
Hotel Berg en Bos is a little gem of a hotel for someone looking for basic accommodation at a good price. We were greeted at reception with very friendly and helpful service/information - this immediately made a good impression. The standard room was quite small but perfectly clean and more than sufficient for one night. There was a little bit of noise through the wall at our heads when our neighbour settled in for the night, but it was in our impression a very quiet hotel overall and we were not disturbed by other noises/guests the whole night. The bathroom was on the older side, but again clean and perfectly functional. The breakfast was a pleasure - nice atmosphere and lots of choice/quality! Would definitely stay here again!
Helpful and courteous staff, great breakfast, free Wifi, warm and clean room.
Very nice little hotel, excellent staff, and nice breakfast. Rooms are small, but are advertised that way.
The staff are super respectful. They ask you after you arrive if everything meets your expectations.
very good breakfast room was very small, but not a problem just for one night
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for everything.
small, cheap, breakfast ok room was very small and very basic (comes with the rate), wifi internet access not suited for Apple computers
It was a fine, but unspectacular room. Breakfast was ok. Free parking was great. A doable walk to restaurants. the owner gave a great recommendation for the nearby Chinese resaturant.
I was just soft bed for sleeping for me.But nevermind.
everyone were very helpful and friendly and location very central no, it is a real family hotel in nice surroundings.
Near park De Hoge Veluwe
comfortable beds ,clean room not suitable for people with walking difficulties as no lift and quite a few stairs .no ground floor rooms
the attitude of the staff, and the car parking, position easy to find,
Breakfast was great!!! Noisy and couldn't keep our windows open as is wasn't secure
The location is excellent, and the food in the food in the restuarant was good. Room service was the worse I have ever had. The room was poorly serviced and then the staff left the door to the room wide open for all members of the public to walk in and out at their wish. Very poor security.
The testimony to our satisfaction with Hotel Smittenberg is that we have now stayed there four times on our car journeys to and from Scandinavia and we have used it as a link to travel from Hook of Holland and also from Ostend, Dunkirk and Calais. It is very convenient, it provides us with good value and a 'no nonsense' service and the staff are friendly. We look forward to using it again and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
Good value for the money. Nice terace. No Airco
The hotel was comfortable and not noisey
fantastic evening meal, excellent parking facilities.
