The room was fab abd the staff are very friendly, also it is in a brilliant location Absolutely nothing
Staff were very friendly, the location was excellent and the food was good too.
Location was fantastic, jacuzzi was very powerful, breakfast chef was very cheerful & accomodating. The receptionist 'Rose' who is supposed to meet & greet was disgraceful, would turn people off the hotel - maybe she was having a bad day ...
Room was adequate. The highlight is breakfast, a continental spread with hot Irish breakfast as well. Views of the castle from the dining room. Staff is very friendly. Castle view rooms cost a premium, even in the off-season when the hotel is obviously under-occupied.
Great lication Way to noisy. Barely slept
The hotel was next to the river with a perfect view of Kilkenny castle. The reception, resturant, and bar were nice and the outside patio with view is fantastic. The room was in poor, poor condition. Walls were falling apart, it had walpaper that was pealed off in several places, the bathroom had several broken tiles etc.
The Food and staff service was very good We had booked a non smoking room, when we got to our room there was a stink of cigarettes from the room. As there was a wedding on that night no other rooms were available.
Excellent location to visit shopping and pubs/restaurants etc carpark quite tight so was difficult to manoeuvre car!!
Beautiful location overlooking the River Nore and in turn overlooked by the magnificent Kilkenny castle. Everything was very good. Staff extremely friendly.
A great experience, friendly staff, clean rooms, well priced and good food.
Liked the terrace and the facilities and close proximity to town Did not like the way everything is self-service especially out on the terrace having a drink plenty of staff going around collecting glasses that could have been serving also. Overheard also a lot of tourists complaining also about this. Also after paying our bill we were shocked to see that guests now have to pay €2 to exit their car. Disgraceful. Sign of pure greed and we did voice our opinion.
Comfort and proximity to Kilkenny City No wireless broadband in room
staff were very well mannered & gave an excellent service
The staff were very helpful, we were getting ready for a wedding and the mother of the groom and the family were with us, the hotel staff did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable. We had no tea/coffee making facilities and no water in the mini bar, this is essential mow adays and I was surprised to not have them
Very comfortable, great loctaion
The hotel is well positioned, right in the centre of Kilkenny and it was a dream to drive in and park up the car in the multi storey car park right opposite the hotel. We did not have to worry about trying to negotiate a car through the narrow busy roads. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with leisure facilities and a good breakfast all included. The staff are helpful.
The staff (especially reception staff) were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was lovely (bed and power-shower in particular).
All of the staff and the clenliness of all hotel.
Delux triple room was a bit small
Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Just to let people know the car park is 5 euro per day. Its across the road from the hotel.
All aspects N/a
We both enjoyed the coffee dock in the reception area. The menu in this area was particularly good for a quick snack. Our stay was nice and quiet, no loud parties on our corridor, we were well rested. We also appreciated the location of hotel which allowed us to return with shopping to our bedroom and go back out again. We also enjoyed a day trip to Castlecomer Adventure Park, the Dunmore Caves and of course the Castle is just excellent. We walked in the Castle grounds each morning. The only thing we did not like was the excessive heat in the bedroom. We asked the housekeeper how we could turn it off or down but she said it could not be done. We mentioned this when checking out and were told it is controlled from reception. I think you sholuld tell patrons this when checking in.
the food Well when we arrived they told that our reservation was'nt passed on from the internet company we booked with but it was sorted out. we also had dinner included in the price but tired to charge us for it when leavin! i was impressed.
Had a pool and spa plus a nice gym. The wifi wasn't reliable in the room.
modern clean rooms. The whole hotel was spotless and modern. Food was also delicious. no parking. the hotel had a big function on and car park was overloaded and no alternative was suggested apart from parking on the street which was also full. also reception would not order a taxi stating that they just pull up outside. as a result we were 20 mins late for our appointment
While not in the city of Kilkenny it was about 10 minutes pleasant walk. The dining room was closed on the Sunday night we dined there soa section of the lounge which was set up as an alternative dining area. It worked out well as there were not many dining that night and made for a cosy location. The young man waiting on the tables was most helpful and charming and added greatly to what might otherwise have been a dead.atmosphere. He lit up the place. The foyer, while 'glossy' was so similar to most other hotels of its type in the country that you could have been anywhere. I stayed there years ago and there was a lovely lounge area that overlooked the front part of the hotel - ideal for relaxing, having your coffee and reading the Sunday papers - this was changed completely in the name of progress. Pity.
It ticked all my boxes, from my early morning swim ,a hearty breakfast, a relaxed meal and a glassof wine in the evening, a comfortable sleep , what more could I ask.It was really close to my course venue and my better half was able to explore the area. Pity about all the rain but then it was July 2012.
There was not air condition in the room
Genuinely very pleasant staff, who always try to exceed your requests (even though sometimes they can't influence the outcome) i have stayed regularly here over a the last 4 yeras, and this is the first time that I have been a guest at Hotel Kilkenny, with what I call housekeeping / maintainance problems. Most were fiddly, but annoying things. Heating didn't work, courtesy kettle couldn't be used in the cabinet provided, but had to be plugged in, under the desk.... The hairdryer in the bathroom wsa missing the directional control bit, and for me, the most irritating, no internet socket (just a gaping hole, as the socket had been pulled out sometime earlier). Yes I was able to log on in the lobby, but overall it made this stay feel like I'd been given Room 13 for Halloween, and I kept on wondering what other little issue was going to appear!
IThe hotel room was really nice, the bathrooms were lovely too!!!! The only thing was i thought it was in the centre but it was a bit away, still walking distance so it was not that bad.
I did like the lobby with the firestove. After a heavy rain ,the ceiling in the room we were on started leaking. Also this room was in another newbuilt area of the hotel that looked cheap and some of the parts outside the room havent been painted even. After complaining and transfering to another room, that room had everwhere spiders and spiderwebs, plus the heating wasnt working at all in the main room, only in the bathroom.I wouldnt really recomend that hotel . I have to add here that near the lobby there were mtf walls that havent been even plastered or painted.
The bar food was excellent. The food in the restaurant was disappointing , particulary the starters.
Hotel was decent enough. No hassle. Kilkenny gets booked up really quickly and I booked a day before. No face clothes in bathroom. Main thing was the place is easily a 20minute walk at a fast pace from the city centre. You need to take a taxi in (€6) and back,
the comfort, pool and the staff our few days went to fast we will be back everything was great
Very convenient for city.We ate in both bar and diningroom and enjoyed them very much,Leisure centre very good. On the first morning of our stay the hairdryer in room went on fire ,we reported it immediately but felt the response was very poor. As far as we are aware no one checked the hairdryer during our 2-day stay. We felt for health and safety reasons this was priority.
leisure center and friendly staff
I was on a business trip and hotel suited my needs. The rates were very competitive. everything was satisfactory.
No internet access available even with 24 euro card purchase. Rooms of a very poor standard - portable TV - no satellite channels or pay movies.
the staff were very good always there to help. the leisure centre was also good. the room was "cleaned" on day two of our stay but the bed sheet was only turned to opposite end and not changed.
The location was very near the town centre and was perfect for us. The beds were very comfortable. Our room was cold on arrival and it took ages for it to heat up.
Staff were very friendly, room was clean and a good size. Good value for money.
couldn't get food after a certain time. Also started a tab at the bar which was to be charged to the room....went out for food later and when we came back to the bar they wouldn't allow us to charge our drinks to the existing tab but insisted we had to pay cash.As we hadn't cash with us we had to leave.
The evening meal as part of my package & the breakfast on both mornings were absolutely lovely, the restaurant staff were very professional, friendly and helpful, asked for poached egss for breakfast, they were perfectly done! The shower was a bit crazy to operate, it is thermostatically controlled but in order to get it hot you had to turn the shower on full blast so it felt more like you were surfing than showering, it was a major battle not to flood the bathroom floor and to hold the curtain away from you, fun though!
Bar food stopped at 21:00 and the restaurant was not open, not handy for late check in. no WiFi access in the room.
Friendly atmosphere Poor maintenace of bathroom equipment. Taps broken, light cover smashed, grouting round bath in poor condition
my check in was quick;breakfast was great.hotel nice and quiet at night. the room i stayed in could do with a little revamp.
The best moment was when the restaurant manager took my unappealing Brie starter back to the kitchen & offered me an alternative without fuss Worst hotel food in years. Very basic room. Hotel located too far from centre of Kilkenny necessitating a €20 return taxi fare. To cap off an already bad stay, they ran out of hot water for an hour on Sunday morning, before check out time! Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
All was fine, liked the feeling of comfort and ease of booking in and the space in reception area. The distance from car park to hotel, the distanvce from reception to the bed room considering my age.
Hotel location was very nice, food in the hotel was excellent, hotel staff were very friendly and professional. Pool and steam room were very small. Beds in the room could have been a larger size. Very busy on the weekend I stayed in hotel and there was a long que for a table at breakfast.
In and out quick but great nights sleep and gorgeous hotel
The beautiful surroundings We had a huge wet spot on our carpet as we entered the room-they offered to move us but it was a long walk to move and my sister had already taken a shower. It took over 30 minutes to get the luggage.
The attention to detail of the staff and the hotel itself was beautifully designed. the hotel romms were beautiful. Liked been shown around the hotel first and my car being valleyed to and from the carpark. clearly great thought went into this hotel. the food in the le perla retaurant was not mind blowing for the price. the soup was tasteless, my rissotto had bits of shell in it i kept on biting. the evening restaurant staff lacked personality. over all the restaurant lacked sparkle and expected a little bit more for the price paid having worked in the gourmet trade myself. would still go back to the hotel though, would however eat in kilkenny.
Stayed there many times, great location to town, staff very attentive, rooms always first class, breakfast a real treat! Multiple search sites give different prices than their own. I'm not looking for a lottery.
peaceful, quiet setting
this hotel is very overpriced this hotrel is very overpriced
Hotel was fully booked but they seemed short staffed, service in restaurant was not great. Rooms were nice and spa treatments were very good
The hotel aptmosphere was most relaxing. The staff were friendly even though the hotel was busy, yet still managed to respect our privacy. Service in the main bar was slow (perhaps understaffed for the high volume of guests?)
The peace and tranquility of the hotel and surroundings plus the friendliness and efficiency of the staff all made our stay a very pleasurable one n/a
The staff at this hotel were very friendly and the hotel was absolutely gorgeous..food was delicious and they really took care of their guets. will definitely visit this one again.
The Room and welcoming staff were fab
it was lovely the staff were friendly and the place was spotless very central to everything as well
The Pembroke is centrally located near Kilkenny Castle, shopping and restaurants. Our room was large and nicely decorated with all necessary conveniences. The breakfast was delicious with many choices. Overall, an excellent value. Because of the central location, parking is a few blocks away. It really wasn't a problem, though, because we were able to walk everywhere.
Very clean, modern and convenient hotel The restaurant was good, but a bit formal if you only wanted bar food and suffered from road noise
good location for nightlife and shopping, Heating wasn't on when we got to our room, and to be honest when heating was turned on, the room never really warmed up, and with the extreme weather that was outside, the hotel should have been better prepared.
The room was very comfortable and warming. Beautiful view of Kilkenny Castle from our bedroom window which was a great bonus. We thought that the breakfast wasn't satistactory. The scrambled eggs were cold and very rubbery. We didn't like the 'hot' food bar.
It was in a good, central location. It was hard to find.
Lovely city and lovely hotel, parking included a bonus
We really enjoyed our stay at the pembroke. It was clean and within walking distance of everything. Every worker was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were immaculate. The only issue we had during our stay was the heater. It did not appear to work appropriately. However, our room was only slightly colder than the we would have liked, so it was certainly still comfortable.
We loved the location with easy walking to the castle and shops and pubs. Would recommend to anyone.
Excellent location, great room, some items in the cooked breakfast buffet could have been a little warmer
friendly staff and quality of food available no tea\coffee facilities in the room and restaurant closed table space limited in bar for dining
Hotel had an excelent location, and was very cosey and comfortable, there is a nightclub in the basement which can be noisey on weekend nights.
The meal we had at Jacobs Cottage and the excellent staff. Cannot fault the hotel on anything.
The bed was so comfortable and the room was cosy which was perfect due to the cold weather. The staff were exceptionally helpful.
Really enjoyed our short stay - hotel was warm and cosy on a very cold night and the staff were very welcoming. Popped in to to upstairs bar on our return from an evening out and thought the music and atmosphere was great!
Great location, great staff, clean, comfortable room. Most comfortable bed I think I ever slept in!
very pleasant and helpful staff, excellent location no
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Lobby lovely for a coffee and good bar and barfood. Very noisy late at night
Very noisy at night, didn't realise there was a night club in the hotel
The hotel from start to finish was superb but the staff were the jewel in the crown.
spa treatment, staff, ambiance bed needs replacing, very uncomfortable
We are not golfers but chose this hotel based on location. The rooms were older/not as clean as the other hotels/B&B's we stayed at.
The staff''s warmth ,welcome and desire to help in a most gracious &unintrusive manner has to be the Mount Juliets most valuable asset.I loved the luxury together with the absence of pseudo pomp & ceremony.I would like to come back. N/A
The accomadation was very relaxing, the grounds were superb for walking, the bar we was nice and informal, breakfast was very good, we will be back. Some room furnishings a little dated.
Superb Golf, free bicycles to explore the estate area, quiet and luxurious. We could have used a better introduction to the apartment and especially the plumbing. Taking a shower was not simple, and we gave up on the bath.
To be honest the whole experience was magical, we woke up on Saturday morning to find the place covered in snow..... I could not think of anywhere nicer to trapped on a winters weekend, excellent food, staff could not have been more friendly. 10/10.
Location The hotel doesn'tt have a lift and we've stayed in the third floor. the decoration is a bit strange - the "exotic touch" is not adequate to the location and the rest of the hotel
I liked everything about the Langton Hotel. Hint: if you want a quiet room, contact the hotel direct. We were above the bar on a Sunday night, so the music ended at 9. Friday and Saturday nights, it is much louder until later. Bring ear plugs or stay up until 2. The rest of the hotel should be much quieter. Queen bed was soft, twins were hard. A selection for everyone.
a very nice hotel food and drink of the very best quality we had a front room with a lot of road noise
The staff were absolutely wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Bit of a trek to the room but no big deal really
The staff were friendly and our stay was very comfortable Could not fault this hotel in anyway !!!! First Class !!!
Food was great bar staff not very friendly with poor english but at check in was excellent no life to the bar/restaurant
No late bar !
The location of the hotel suited my stay. It is reasonably clean. The room was large and clean. The hotel was very noisy at night as guests returned from the city. The buffet breakfast was fair at best, and the hotel still has the branded foyer mats of it's former owner. Staff are at best functional. The double bed consisted of two singles pushed together.
Quietness Not great taxi service
Breakfast was very good and good selection available. Evening meal was good but time waiting was far beyond acceptable.
Very comfortable and very enjoyable. Helpful staff and a very clean hotel made for an excellent experience
value for money
convenience, business friendly venue no
Clean, Modern, Excellent food
Prompt and attentive response of staff As mentioned above the main course food
Room was big, spacious and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Shower over bath was awkward to use. Also grout between wall tiles in shower area was slightly blackened.
food in pub was very good and served fast , swimmingpool was nice for kids , Hotel staff very frindly and helpfull , breakfast was nice pool closes at 7:00pm for kids,
staff very friendly and helpful , brekfast was very good , nice bar on site as well would have liked tea or coffee facilities in the room
staff where friendly, rooms where clean and hotel was quite for sleeping thought 140euro was alot for the distance it was from city centre..lots of flys in room.
The property was sympathetically converted and was a beautiful old house, with spacious hallways, dining and bar areas. Including breakfast in the tariff was good too. The hotel was very clean.
small hotel meant i didnt feel so noticeable as a lone traveller. breakfast at the weekend is from 9am onwards which was a problem as i had to be in kilkenny by 9.30am to start course at the design centre.
Room were very comfortable with pleasent decor. Bathroom extractor fan went on with the light, and other occupants left them on all night which was very noisy and very hard to sleep with them. Perhaps they could be on timers after midnight..
Clean and new. Breakfast was good. Bar on-site is nice for a beer in the evening. Heating not on long enough. Room was cold, which is unacceptable.
although it was quite the staff were very obliging, rooms were very clean and i would recommend this hotel
Very friendly owner who did his utmost to make our stay enjoyable. Nothing
Everything was fine
Nothing the service very rude. the hotel is advertised as a 3 star hotel the reason why i booked it. far from it.the bathrooms were dirty. the rooms i know an odd thing to complain about but very badly lite.on saturday our breakfast was lidl processed sliced cheese and ham with lidl fruit salad. i know this as the ham was not even out of the pack. very disappointed in this.hopfully
Helen - the owner, chef and all-around entertainer. She was marvelous for telling us about Ireland from a local's prespective, in a way that had us really laughing. Her services were great; after learning the first night we liked to have drinks in our room when we got back after dinner, the second night she met us at the door with a bowl of ice. We also loved the very comfortable beds, her excellent breakfasts and the wonderful on-demand hot water shower. The only incovenience is you have to drive someplace for dinner, not walk. However, the b&b it is located right next to the Jerpoint Abbey which is beautiful to tour.
breakfast s and being made to feel at home
Quiet, beside Jerpoint Abbey,y nice breakfast, enjoyed the stay.
The hotel is well situated to visit the surrounding area and Jerpoint Abbey across the street. Our room was very comfortable and furnished with nice linens and big towels. The bathroom seemed nearly brand new. The full Irish breakfast was delicious. A little difficult with children. The atmosphere of the hotel is peaceful and refined. We were a bit worried that our children were making too much noise for the other guests.
Owners very friendly and welcoming. Able to make tea and bring outside, or to guest sitting room or own room. Lovely bedlinen. Honey for breakfast made by bees on the premises! Only a small thing, but I didn't like the laminated breakfast menu. I think they took away from the breakfast room. Real cloth napkins were a lovely touch.
COmfortable, quiet, relaxed bright , good breakfast
nice place and friendly family .. we would like to go there again
staying in Abbey House was like stepping into a by gone era where every little detail was important .elegant bedding, lacy tablecloths, silver cutlery and charm. the breakfast was fresh, liesurely and delicious. fond memories are what we wanted and what we got. Thank you Eleanor.
A beautiful country house with charming inn mistress. Easy access to a golf course andthe small town of Thomastown, and just across the street from Jerpoint Abbey. Excelllent retaurants available nearby, too.
our stay was pleasent and reasonable value the main issue is that when we were booking thru the web we were informed that abbey house was a hotel , when infact it is a bed/breakfast . we had to arrange to have a key left out for us as we were arriving late (after midnight)
attitude of the nightclub bouncers when we wanted to get into the hotel was not appreciated.
the location was great right in the heart of town nice friendly staff the only thing was the beds they need to replace them
The staff are very helpful and friendly during the day. The food is fantastic. The staff can be quite rude at night but I think this may be due to the very long shifts.
We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful dinner at the Restaurant and also the entertainment in the bar. the two male singers were brilliant. Staff were very obliging at all times, especially on arrival. The Bars and Restaurant are beautifully decorated and comfortable. Yes, two things. My room was supposed to be non smoking (As are all rooms), but there was a very strong smell of smoke in the room during our stay. (We are two non smokers!). Secondly, when at breakfast with our friends who we recommended to come with us for a weekend. The waitress came to me at breakfast and said politlely that were we aware that we had to pay for our breakfast! I was mortified, as my fiance Michael had paid for all of our stay, and my friend had come to breakfast with out her bag, I offered to pay after breakfast. Then Mary a Duty Manager called over to apologise and say in fact we had paid for the breakfast as part of the package. I know I modified my booking to a different date, but this was highly embarrassing!
location and facilities
entertainment facilities, e.g karaoke bar and nightclub. some bar staff on sunday afternoon were very slow to serve customers.
Friendly atmosphere Too noisy and our room was facing the road.. did not get to sleep until very late.. Also Breakfast was made with cheap ingredients.. breaded sausages.. etc etc..
We had a delay on our travel plans, they were more than accomodating when we called them to explain making out of hours provisions for our arrival.
we stayed 3 nights we had a great time very clean great staff and food rooms very clean. great music, big free safe carpark for guests would totally reccomend a stay or a visit to the o faolain bar and the kilford lounge,we will be going back tommy and esther no complaints at all
Friendliness and attention to detail shown by management.
The B/B is excellent. It's wroth booking it. Lucky right is booking it. Lovely Breakfast alike 5 star. I enjoy stay over night. Staff's lovely person and very very friendly.
The excellent breakfast
The facility was very well presented and very comfortable. The WiFi that was advertised as being available throughout the facility didn't work from our room. We had to go to the lounge room to pick up a weak signal. This was very frustrating. Also the location was quite a distance from Kilkenny and a little difficult to locate at first.
Great room, lovely breakfast. Bed was very comfortable, with very nice linen. Owner was very friendly and helpful with giving us directions into Kilkenny . Tiny bathroom. I booked this place as it advertised a spa bath, however we did not have one in our room, which we were very disappointed about.
This was my favorite place in Ireland. The house is beautiful, surrounded by wonderful Irish countryside less than 10 min drive from Kilkenny. Nicole was such a lovely and attentive hostess and served us a delicious breakfast. We would definitely return.
It was away from the crowds and a nice relaxing break on our trip. It was close enough to the town that we could drive there and the staff were very nice.
The quality of the room and the warm welcome from the owners. The breakfast was very well cooked and presented. No
House was well situated out in the country away from the bustle of the city which was still just a short taxi ride away. staff very friendly and helpful. Had originally booked for 5 people, a twin double and a triple. Unfortunately one person was unable to travel and despite calling the hotel two weeks prior to inform them that there would only be four persons, I was told there were no double rooms available, that we would have to stay with the triple room and were charged for it.
Situated in a lovely spot out of town. Room was beautiful - spacious, well appointel, and comfortable. Good reakfast served in a lovely room. Really good value for money. Would highly recommend this B&B! No
