9.5 Excellent (253 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a great little place to stay. Glad we found it. It was within walking distance to the small beach that was along the Danube. It was chilly, but we went swimming in the river, which was a very fun experience. There are also bike paths along the river that go to the neighboring villages. There were quite a few nice little shops, restaurants, and wineries within walking distance of the hotel. A block or so down was a Spar grocery store, which was convenient when we needed to pick up something basic. The room itself was very nice and clean, with a private porch that overlooked the vineyards. Breakfast was amazing! They do such a wonderful job with the food. So many choices (breads, jams, yogurt with various toppings, meats and cheeses, etc) plus they have delicious eggs (get it with the pumpkin seed oil, it's delicious!!) The couple that owns and runs this little hotel are so friendly and helpful, too. They have a lovely little gift shop with souvenirs from around the area. The beds are comfy and the location is wonderful. There's plenty to do during the day, and in the off-times you can lounge in the backyard in one of the hammocks they have available. They had bikes that you could rent, as well. Also, they have private free parking.
Cons: There was no air conditioning, which is pretty standard for hotels across Europe. A box fan or something similar would have been a nice addition.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This small guesthouse is very cozy and comfortable. Located in the town of Pochlarn very close to the Danube (a 2 minute walk). It served us as a base for our tours in the Wachau valley and Lower Austria- it took us 1 hour or less to drive to all the towns, cities and tourist attractions in the area. The owner and manager of the guesthouse, Herr Fischer, is a very nice, warm and accommodating man, who speaks excellent English and is always ready to help and advise. We had 2 rooms - both were spacious, conveniently set up and clean. One was a family room with a refrigerator. Bathrooms, toilets, showers - all were comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was adequate. This is an excellent guesthouse - the best we had during our vacation in Austria - highly recommended!
Cons: The beds were too soft for our taste and a bit worn - we prefer firmer mattresses.

Pros: - got a triple room we were 3 - well placed, centrally, near danube. You just walk 2 minutes and you’re on a bench near the water - really warm and welcoming owners - nice breakfast, not too many options but a decent amount to start a day - you have a pizzeria across the street that seems to be open late if you’re hungry and arrive late

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely chalet style hotel in the Austrian hills. Nice comfortable Scandi style rooms, great staff, excellent food, albeit a limited menu. Excellent facilities - especially nice outdoor Eco pool. The main attraction of this place is its location and the completely calm and tranquil atmosphere that pervades, perfect for complete relaxation
Cons: Temperature was in the 30’s C and with no a/c the rooms were quite unbearable. We had to borrow a fan to make it bearable to sleep! My other half was disappointed with the fruit selection at breakfast, particularly as it’s a “healthy” spa hotel!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very tasty cuisine, great location, excellent staff
Cons: Missing massage offer in the room, "reserved" sunbeds although it is forbidden
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The wellness was great, so was the swimmingpool!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I just love this hotel, and have visited many times. It is in a beautiful location (this time it snowed, and I didn't walk far, but it was still stunning!). The best thing in cold weather is that the spa and pool are divine and one can spend hours just lounging about. The rooms are perfectly equipped, lovely bathrooms and many TV channels, and of course the food is also excellent. All the staff are wonderful, too!
Cons: There is nothing I would change - except the BBC World channel was no longer available on the TV!! Can't think of anything I didn't like.

Pros: Great location, pleasant staff, beautiful little garden with a bathing pond, very clean rooms (plus all four nights cleaned during our breakfast time - perfect!)
Cons: Interior and furniture was three star, either in need of replacement or cheap. Bathrooms also so so. The whole interior is outdated and needs a complete refurbrishment. The bed in the room no 11 was terrible, old and very soft mattress. Glasses for breakfast juice could’t be smaller:(

The room was clean and spacious and the shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure. Breakfast was very good. There was a nice patio area where we could sit and enjoy local wine and beer which could be purchased at a very rereasonable price. They provided free bicycles and we rode on the cycle path to Krems and took one of the river boats back, which we would definitely recommend.
Cons: The bed was a little firm and the pillows a little soft for our taste.

Pros: Good location with great views over the Danube and of Melk Abbey. We stayed here for the recent Ironman 70.3 in St Polten (which is a 20-25 minute drive) and the owners couldn’t have been more helpful. 8.3 Excellent
Pros: we traveled by bicycle to and from the hotel. i would not recommend this to travellers. The hotel is about 30 minute bike ride uphill from Krems. Krems is difficult to navigate through for bikers on the Donau Radweg. The road is a high traffic, high speed. Once there, you have no option but to eat dinner at the hotel, which was average. The setting is pretty, the landscaping around the verandah is well done and the room was very quiet even though on the busy road due to double windows. However, we could hear conversation from the restaurant in our room till 11 pm at night.
Cons: Noise from restaurant below our room; not good access for cyclists from Krems; my husband's fish dinner was excellent; my rouladen dinner was dry and spaetzle noodles were cold; there was no offer for wine tasting and little to no explanation from any servers about the property's wines for us as guests. You either had to already know about the wines being offered, or be a German regular guest ready to buy wine. As a tourist, it was not a wine-tasting or wine-learning experience friendly destination.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It wasexactly what I was expecting and more.Gorgeous 12th Century building, fully renovated but still kept the old feel. Gorgeous surroundings.Words cannot describe it's beaty.

Pros: The restaurant at the hotel is now closed, but there are many other options in the village. Excellent breakfast with local and homemade specialties.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wolfgang and Rosie were wonderful hosts. My wife and I were only there one night but want to return ASAP. The room was wonderful, the hosts were just great, warm, helpful, with Wolfgang even taking me in his car to the Spar Market to get a few things, far beyond the call of duty. I have been associated with the travel industry for more than 35 years and would put the Ur Wachau as one of the finest places we have stayed. The room was wonderful (there are only 5 rooms) but the overall ambiance is exceptional. Rosie is an accomplished chef and the town of Weisenkirchen is in a perfect location from which to see the Wachau Valley, taste wines, see everything from the Melk Abby, Krems, St. Michael, and the myriad of vineyards in the region. Also, it is only about 1 hour from Vienna and about 2 hours from Salzburg. Great location. Room was so comfortable, slept like rocks, and had a plentiful breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Can't say enough good things about it.
Cons: There was nothing to not like.

Pros: Nice location in the center. Very nice, friendly staff. The kitchen is excellent! We had the best dinner here during our 1 week stay in Austria. The apartment was very fancy. I liked the idea how they mixed the old style of the room with the clean and modern bathroom.
Cons: No air condition.

Pros: Perfect location, right at town center, below the abbey, next to the Rathaus, has a medieval house ambiance. Beautiful and clean room with all facilities.
Cons: Wifi usually didn't work in my room (mine is on the furthest end from the reception), no connection or lots of interruptions.

Pros: Loved the location in the middle of the old town , easy 5mins to the train station and very close to the walk up to the abbey. The staff are very friendly and will help out. Breakfast is very good enjoyed it a lot.
Cons: The rooms are warm, this is because it's a very old building no air-conditioning. I was also staying in the middle of a heat wave. Not a criticism more just something to note if you are coming in summer. They do provide fans in the rooms which was a bonus.

Pros: the staff was always very helpful and friendly. food was excellent. rooms were clean and well appointed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Superb location, very handy parking in the yard. Great food, good service, nice and polite personnel. We stayed in the historical annex, the room was very nice with a superior view to the Abbey. The beds were very comfortable and everything was immaculately clean. Although there was no air conditioning (and it was one of the hottest days of July) the room was nice and cool due to the reasonable thickness of the walls and the double windows. I would definitely come back again

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great to explore the region on bicycle. Heurigen are in walking distance. Breakfast was extremly good, but on Saturday mornings due to that extremly packed with outside guests. Rooms are modern, beds good. There is a fridge on the ground floor to stock up on Veltliner if you need more. The pool looks nice, but due to November was already shut down. Views from the roof top are great. Personal very friendly and service oriented.
Cons: So some rooms only have a view towards the restaurant. Did not bother us, as it got dark by 17:00. Try to make reservation for 1st floor.
