Ramada is well located, moderate in price, very clean and comfortable. I recommend it mostly for buusiness people or those who want to visit the town and the local area. The architecture is unique. It is ultra modern among the more traditional type of architecture
I have stayed there a number of times. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small-ish but very comfortable and clean Public computer in entrance hall never seems to work.
Clean and quite room, good working wifi, friendly people at the reception and in the restaurant. The breakfast, although of good quality and with an extensive choice, is too expensive : 50 chf (= 36€). I do not think that this price was mentioned somewhere in advance.
Clean, high quality design. Very nice room. Quiet. Food & drinks + service match room quality. No,
location of hotel was excellent
Air conditioning and WiFi worked well. Free parking in front. Great location and pleasant view across the river. Good food. A well designed modern building. Breakfast was expensive.
the well being floor was a great benefit.
Helpful reception, proximity to centre. The room though smallish was very comfortable, and we slept well. Good view of the river. How do you describe something you don't like, without it being a form of complaint ? We found the current roadworks in Solothurn called for some initiative on finding how to arrive. On question (below) about guest reviews, can't remember what they said, but we expected Ramada to be ok. We stayed in Solothurn as being in easy reach of Basel for a one day visit.
I give this hotel a 2 star because of its great location, stunning views, and parking situation. At first sight the hotel is stunning, and parking was always available nearby. But that is as it good as it gets. Our room was small and Still had wet floors in the bathroom from the cleaning service. Also, do yourself a favor and skip breakfast, for 25 Fr you get a limited choice of breads and a boiled egg. On both occassion's we asked for scrambled eggs and after an hour they never came out. I spoke to the front desk and her response was 'sorry, I will let the manager know'. Needless to say they didn't do anything about it on the second day. Furthermore, my friend paid for the hotel suite, and when he asked to get another room due to the Air conditioning being broken. They responded by putting him in a room the size of a closet and simply said 'sorry'. While my other friends suite was unavailable at checkin since they 'overbooked' the hotel. So out of our large group that stayed here, over 80% were dissatisfied
It was clean efficient, pleasant staff. Ice was not readily available
very nice SPA
Nice restaurant, good continental breakfast, clean room, free wireless internet, friendly staff.
The character of the building and the town
Good clean room but small. Very nice staff. Perfect location in town.
Location, restaurant, frendly staff. Noisy street in early morning, very basic breakfast. Parking outside old town, but not so far from hotel.
Small hotel, very nice personnel. Restaurant downstairs that offers good food. Nice location in the middle of the old town of Solothurn. The hotel is an old historic building but newly renovated inside. No air conditioning in the room.
Nice atmosphere Standard room is very small
Beautiful traditional Swiss hotel, right in the centre of the old town. Well modernised facilities without disturbing the character of the building. Right by the square with markets, fountains and cafes. Clock tower and bells are close and charming, but might disturb some. Food is excellent and the staff were very helpful and charming, spoke very good english and were happy to tolerate our feeble attempts at German. Parking is inconvenient and expensive as cars are not allowed in the old town
noise early Saturday morning
Excellent evening meal, very welcoming and helpful staff.
Good hygiene. You can use the washing machine for free, too. Free WIFI. Breakfast acceptable. The women from the staff are supportive, but they often go out to smoke. If your room faces the courtyard (which is more expensive), if your window is open you can easily get the smoke of the people who have to go out to smoke. The windows are very low on the pavement.
Light, bright, comfortable room. Very good breakfasts. Amazing 400 plus tv/radio stations. Very clean. No complaints and even happy with 9 minute walk into town from hotel
The hotel is very clean and functional. The beds are very comfortable. It is in a quiet area 5-10 minutes work from Solothurn centre. On arrival at the hotel there was nobody at reception and I could not enter the hotel. Luckily my friend who spoke Swiss/German was able to read a sign and make a phone call to punch in a keypad number and retrieve a key ( although it was different to the room I booked). The keys are then extremely difficult to use with the door locks, and many times I gave up and didn't bother to lock the door.Breakfast is very basic by European standards and I have encountered far better on recent travels.
Very nice location, very nice rooms, internet free, good breakfast.
the room was really nice and clean.the whole hotel had a nice feel to it. the hotel was let down by the restuarant and bar being closed. Apart from the town Solothurn there was not much to see in the area.
Quiet place. On Sunday no staff there, but very well indicated where we had to get the keys from. On Monday morning the staff took really nice care of us. Great breakfast! We only missed air conditioning...and maybe a little pool around, as we got there with 34ºC // Le faltaria aire acondicionado en la habitación (justamente estuvimos cuando las temperaturas en esa zona eran de 34ºC)
The place is beautiful and very relaxing. The hotel is located outside of the city but not too far away, so it is easy to go anywhere (by car). Our room was extremely clean and spacious. It is one of the hotels where I'm delighted to return.
Location is good. Special ambiance. Drinks/Fruit/Coffee available for guest. There was no staff present. You needed to call a number to get a code to access your room key in a deposit box. This was't a problem, just a bit unusual.
Very interesting, historical building with a modern contemperary interior. Only to cross the bridge on foot to reach the Altstadt. Underground parking at a stone's throw and access to the motorway in 2 minutes. Noise of trains driving by regularly. But in Switzerland trains are never far away...
Good room overlooking the Aare. Receptionist helpful and restaurant excellent.Breakfast OK but not a wide choice.
drinks and internet free, excellent location, historic building, nicely renovated, river view lobby doesn't open until 2pm, staff came late but was very apologetic
Nice view, friendly stuff, very good breakfast, free internet access. It could be a bit cheaper
safety box with as automatic reception for key narrow stairs - not presented elevator
Beautiful location next to the river.
Clean and renewed hotel. Very easy to find it. The Hotel is really very good hotel but with 3 stars. Arguments: no pay TV, no mini bar, very small restaurant without professional chief cook
Excellent location being 2 minutes from the old town and 1 minute from the main train station. Very helpful and friendly staff. DVD player in each room with no charge for DVDs (and you don't see that very often). WIFI access in-room usually plays a significant role in my decision for a hotel for business trips. This time it wasn't necessary but could be a factor in the future.
Free parking. Nearby the main station.
Quite hotel. Internet free. Parking place (limited) Nothing
Location: 200 metres from Solothurn old town, and 100 from the station shd you come by train. Very quiet and nice street, good parking in the hotel's courtyard, very friendly staff. A Swiss garni as it shd be, in probably the most beautiful and surely the most elegant Swiss town.
The staffs are friendly. and helpful The WIFI system is no good. Sometimes the WIFI fail.
Friendly, helpful staff. Free WiFi. Very close to train station. Short walk to old town. Only 4 free parking spaces
very near to solothurn station, good service, ready to help anytime, fantastic Nothing
We stayed 5 nights in July 2010 during the opera fesitival. We were very pleased and would recommend it highly recognizing the following: The hotel staff spoke good English, was very accomodating and pleasant. The location is excellent w/ just a 3-5 min walk across river to the town center.. The hotel is small and can be likened best to an upscale Bed & Breakfast. They provide a continental breakfast and a limited but small menu that they will prepare anytime during day or evening. They have a small patio in the back where we took most of our meals, a parking area behind the hotel and internet access. If you want value, clean accomodations and a friendly accomodating staff this would be an excellent choice. We encountered no problems during our stay
Its proximity to the town centre and to the customer I was visiting the next day.
Very clean nice size rooms, restaraunt had good choice on menu with very nice food, Staff very friendly and helpful None
A hotel with a high standard but not inpersonal like a lot of large business type hotels. noted that passersby stopped for a drink/ coffee etc. Good breakfast.
When I checked in the lady was lovely, rooms were fresh and clean and bathroom was spotless When I did check out, I had a completely diffiernet experience with the receptionist, I found her to be very rude, I am not sure if she as too young, but there was no, How was your stay, Enjoy Switzerland or anything. In comparrison to when I checked in in turn the receptionst was spot on, attentive and polite with allot of ease.
Excellent welcome from the owner. No
Good quality hotel in a central location. Had a bit of difficulty finding the hotel - walked past it twice - before realising what "Hotel de la Tour Rouge" was in German! Very helpful and pleasant staff. Excellent breakfast.
The excellent and helpful staff, location in the old town, the hotel's sidewalk cafe the street noise was a bit much, but then it was a national holiday
The location was very good, the food and service good. The rooms were clan and comfortable Sleeping was a problem because of the clock striking every 15 minutes. Double glazing would improve sound proofing
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good central location for visiting Solothurn. Good sized room with period elements
Centrally located in the now pedestrianised old walled city of Solothurn, a great place to stay with plenty of restaurants and shops in easy walking distance.
Professionalism and friendlyness of the staff. I was leaving at 5 am and they with no prompting from myself offered and prepared a take away morning breakfast meal No bad points
The service was outstanding.
most amazingly comfortable bed. Nice room. would have liked free wifi and a small fridge in the room.
The ambience, room quality and cleanliness; food
ottimo staff - no problems with english - excellent room no phone in the room
Very good and very new, family run hotel with great restaurant (always busy with locals). Contemporary furniture and design nicely housed in refurbished village inn. Very clean.
I would not stay at this hotel ever again, nor would i recommend it to any of my business colleagues. I was forced to pay for my room before even checking out, even though they had a copy of my passport and credit card info. The hotel manager called the police and they knocked on my door waking me up at 1am!! they took my passport from me and said i can collect it when i paid my bill the following day, i was made to look like a criminal !!! not a good expirence! totally disgusted with the service i was given, This hotel manager is not fit to run a business. The staff manager is not fit to run a hotel if he cannot trust his guests.
Staff was extremely nice and helpful. We got in the hotel restaurant the best "rösti" potatoes we ever had. I recommend them!
