Pros: Excellent service and good food; will certainly recommend to friends and family. A mountain top oasis.
Cons: Nothing - was magnificent
Pros: A beautiful oasis and a wonderful way to get away from noisy streets. Highly recommend!
Pros: We felt like home in this paradise! The staff offered their kindly help and made our stay even better! We never had such a pleasant wake up with an estonishing view on the mountains and a delicious breakfast! The rice and curry was the best of our journey in Sri Lanka!
Pros: Location, food and service were excellent, we felt like private guests
Pros: When you enter you are met by a fabulous view overlooking the mountains. Peeking over the balcony reveals the hillside garden and swimming pool, an area excellent for birdwatching. From the Veranda you can enjoy the fabulous sunset and the misty hills, when the heat of the day comes and goes, from your dining table.
Pros: Everything was Perfect!
Cons: We could not stay there for longer ..
Pros: Best food we've had in sri Lanka. Great views. Comfy beds. Isolated tranquility. Super friendly staff. Lovely walks through local villages and tea plantations
Pros: - Adorable staff - True sense of hospitality - Excellent cook - Spectacular views
Cons: - Definitely overpriced - Rooms need a revamp - Old, worn out furniture in the room, not appropriate for 200 Euros per night...
Pros: The view and the staff made this hotel. It is superbly comfortable and the chef is gifted, but the attentive, but not fawning staff turned this into one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The view is also out of this world.
Cons: The hotel is superb, the only things we would improve is a softer bed and a warmer pool.

At the guest house, each room is fitted with a balcony. A continental breakfast is available daily at the accommodation. Pros: Lushan is a great funny genuine host. He helped me with figuring out my plan for the day. Location is very remote but you can get things in Digana. You wake up to 100 birds and fresh air from plants in the back. The house is spacious and clean with big kitchen and bathroom. Free bike service is good but it is very hilly so I rented a scooter to go to huluganga. Lushan made this place fun so I stayed another night.
Cons: The dinner by the neighbor was okay, presented nicely and made with love but I needed more. Would buy vegetables to cook next time.
Pros: What a beautiful place! We stayed for 2 nights and had a great time. The place is located rather remote, giving a beautiful view of the local mountains and lake. The host, Lucian, is great! We felt at home at the place, instead of being a guest. The area is very nice. The local diner, prepared by the neighbors, is a big pro too. For local day trips, Lucian will take you around, with a boost of positive energy, perfect English, and good knowledge of the area :) It's quiet, beautiful, and highly recommended.
Pros: We loved our stay at the pepper cottage, Lucian is a great host, the nature is beautiful and the food we had was delicious and very diverse (and vegan by request :)). We stayed for three nights, but wouldn't have minded to stay a few longer. Definitely go here of you're travelling through sri lanka!
Pros: The Pepper Cottage was by far our favorite accommodation in Sri Lanka. It is a bit of a struggle to find, but after you've checked in, you really do not want to leave. We initially booked a four night stay, but we extended it to a week. Lucian is the most welcoming host and the best cook. We had all of our meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the accommodation and we are still dreaming of Lucians roti. The best. The house itself is simple but comfortable, and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Make sure to go on a hike with Lucian; he will tell you everything about the spices, trees and animals in Sri Lanka.
Cons: The wifi didn't work during our stay because of a lightning strike, but our Sri Lankan sim card worked as a charm instead.
Pros: Peaceful, remote location and amazing breakfast w/ imported coffee! Property has games, bikes, guided hikes, book exchange, massage available ... everything you need. Lucian is a great host!
Pros: Had such as Nice stay here! Lucian is so nice and the renovated house is very beautiful, this in the middle of beautiful nature. Loved it. You can also support the local community here which Is think is fantastic.
Pros: Beautiful location, excellent food and great guided walks, waterfall swimming etc. Stayed two extra days as it was so good
Pros: We feel as though we struck gold with Pepper Cottage; i've never given a perfect 10 score before now and i'd give 11 if i could. The hosts and the environment make this a stay at your pace. No pressure to do anything if you don't feel like it and always on hand when you need anything, from a pot of tea instructions for local hikes. If you desire you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner on site and the food is excellent if you like sri lankan. European tastes are also catered for well. The view too is spectacular and their lovely gardens, complete with sun lounger, tables and a hammock, gives you plenty of space to relax. Very good english spoken by hosts.
Pros: Location is amazing. Lucian our host was spectacular. We were welcomed with a fantastic lunch followed by a guided tour of the village. The dinner cooked by the neighbours was very nice. Lucian also took us on a guided tour to a lovely waterfall and around the area to see the tea plantations and to a great local restaurant for lunch. Very relaxed atmosphere. Felt like we were visiting a friend. We would highly recommend a stay here.
Pros: The setting is stunning with wonderful views. Lucian the manager is very welcoming. He took myself and two other guests on a small hike which was very enjoyable. The local people were welcoming and Lucian was very knowledgeable of local flora and fauna. A couple in the village cooked a fantastic dinner. I left very early and Lucian prepared an early breakfast.
Cons: The location is a off the beaten tea k. But it is well worth the experience.
When you stay at Polwaththa Eco Lodges in Digana, you'll be 12 minutes by car from Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge during limited hours, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Hospitality, attention, clean air, simplicity, nature
Pros: Our cabin was located high in the trees in the middle of the monkeys. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The most memorable experience was on our 7 klm and 12 klm walks with our guide Charles who made the experience exceptional.
Pros: Very nice, remotely located, in the jungle. Very nice family, very good staff and excellent food and service. Besides being environmentally friendly, the lodge also involve the local community in a very positive way!
Pros: We loved everything about this place. The lodges are right in the middle of the jungle, you’re surrounded by wildlife but you still have everything you need. The owners and staff are very friendly and do everything in their power to make your stay as best as possible. They are really committed to sustainability: local staff, local food, sun-powered heated water, as less plastic as possible etc. We especially liked the interaction with the local staff. Normally this place is booked out during July-August but like everywhere else in Sri Lanka, a lot of people cancelled due to the bombings. That’s also the only reason why we were able to stay here and even stay longer than planned. (so now it’s the perfect time to go!) Activities we did here were: 2 hikes, visiting a local school, yoga and a cooking class (their food was so good, we wanted to learn it ourselves).
Cons: Nothing! Maybe to make the experience even more local: we wouldn’t have mind it to sit, eat and drink with the local staff.
Pros: This place is so special! It is the real jungle experience and the owners are very friendly. We would recommended this for sure.
Cons: It was hard to find. That’s the magic of the place of course, but maybe they can send you an email with a specific route or pick you up at the street, we felt so sorry for our tuktuk driver.
Pros: All the people there were going above and beyond to make the stay amazing and very organised. The view outside the lodge is amazing as well.
Cons: What I didn't like the most that the way to the lodges were not so smooth and your car will not be allowed to reach there. So each time you are returning back, you need to call them to bring a jeep car or Tuk Tuk to get you from the main street to your lodge. So it was a bit not so comforting.
Pros: Just outside Kandy you find these beautiful eco lodges. This place is a perfect getaway from the busy city. The lodges are basic, but have everything you need (hot water, toilet, electricity). And a balcony with jungle view! We were supposed to stay one night, but booked one night extra, because the place felt so calm and relaxed. We did two hikes, both were perfectly arranged and the tour guides were very friendly and helpful! Also the meals at the eco lodges were great - lovely Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner. Staff was most friendly and helpful - they helped us a lot with providing extra information and booking transportation. Would definitely recommend to visit the eco lodges and book a tour in the beautiful surroundings.
Pros: Had a very Nice stay here. In the middle of beautiful nature, surrounded by jungle sounds but still all comfort. Just loved it. The Meals were also fantastic. Enjoyed my stay so much, thank you!
Pros: Loved living in a treehouse for a few days and waking up to the sounds of the jungle and being amongst the trees in a peaceful and calm setting. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. The local walks to Knuckles range with a guide was fantastic!
Cons: I didn't like having to leave. I would love to have spent much more time there exploring the area and getting to know the Polwattha story and what plans it has for the future.
Pros: Polwaththa Eco Lodges provides an excellent experience for anyone who wants to spend time in nature with some peace and quiet. The location is in the middle of a jungle, full of various kinds of plants, birds and small animals. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and professional. They work hard to keep the place friendly and maintain the relaxed, peaceful vibe that they have created over the years. In terms of eco tourism, this hotel works very well by providing jobs (and training) to the locals, preserving local wildlife, reforestation programs and sustainable waste management. The owners and the staff are genuinely passionate about this aspect and it reflects clearly on their day to day activities. The food here is absolutely wonderful. It is mostly Sri Lankan cuisine, but western dishes were also available. The portions were large and the flavors were on point! They have nice, clean and safe facilities such as a small lounging/games area, a restaurant and they've also recently constructed a beautiful Yoga Shala overlooking the Victoria Lake as well. Everyone and everything here (including the various animals that call this hotel their home) made us feel welcome and helped us have a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Personally for me and my wife, it is easily the best hotel we have ever stayed at in Sri Lanka. We are definitely going again very soon!
Cons: I wish we stayed longer. I think that's the only part we regret about the whole experience. That and the fact that we could not go on any treks (this was also by our own choice) this time. Hope to do this next time. :)

Pros: Gorgeous house and setting. Pool is amazing and the food is top notch. Rooms are lovely and some great relaxing places.
Cons: It is hard to find so I tried to call up for assistance but they do not answer their phones after 4pm so it left me in a bit of a predicament.
Pros: Staff , location , furniture, especially the food , everything to be honest
Cons: Not staying more
Cons: Senic surroundings
Pros: The staff and ease was wonderful, not to mention the meals!
Cons: The location was a bit far flung, but we knew that going in!
Pros: Fantastic location, great service, cozy atmosphere.
Cons: All was good
Cons: More drinks in the bedroom :)

Cons: Everything was perfect!

Pros: Delicious food and superb staff with great location.
Pros: Everything beautiful
Cons: Why is there not to like. Loved it
Pros: Ambiance, Bird life. Lovely setting/landscaping. Satisfactory room quality.
Cons: House keeping staff did not visit the room even once. On the second day a function was held in the garden with loud music almost the whole day. This ruined the peaceful atmosphere. TV channels were of a poor choice. Parking and movement in and out was a headache due to limited room.
Pros: Room design and nothing else
Cons: Location far away from any activities, low level of reception and enterance areas and hotel can not be more than 3 stars
Pros: Nice and calm sorrounding. Spacious rooms.Beautiful, spacious garden. Ideal for small children to play. Small but clean swimming pool. Food is not the best. But acceptable.
Cons: Calm sorrounding.

With a stay at Lanka Villas Holiday Resort in Gangawatakorale, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Temple of the Tooth and Kandy Lake. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nothing specially.
Cons: No idea how this is so highly rated, or why it includes the words 'villas' and 'resort' in its name (although the misnomer is consistent with the hucksterish vibe of the owner - perfectly friendly but unashamedly squeezing for as much cash as possible). In essence this is a mediocre small hotel with fairly uncomfortable beds, average food and inflated prices (especially for the extras like laundry or a tuk tuk into town). Pretty disappointing overall, in almost every way.
Pros: Management was very hospitable took personal interest and served good food Just good
Cons: Up keeping of bathrooms
Pros: The staff were pleasant as was the food. If you are in Balagolla for the cricket, the location is good.
Cons: I have taken a long time to submit this review as it is the first negative review I have ever submitted. Lanka Villas on the whole seemed satisfactory, if somewhat dated (they are not villas and it is not a resort by the way) but my particular room was dark and depressing, with walls covered in mold. The window frame in the bathroom was broken allowing insects in, made worse by the fact that there was no mosquito net around by bed. I realise I booked a budget room, but regardless of the price paid (and for this room I paid considerably more than for much better properties in the rest of Sri Lanka) this was completely unacceptable. It would take little time or money to fix the window and paint the walls. I checked out of my room and left a few days early - something I did not do in any other stays during nine weeks in Sri Lanka.
