Friendliness of staff; lovely restaurant attached. Car parking space somewhat limited.
The huge variety of the breakfast buffet and the traditional food on the menu.
Central location, clean rooms and friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts. I work in Bayreuth on regular basis and find this to be a better place to stay than the hotels that work book for me, which can be twice the price.
good food at the restaurant room was a bit small
This friendly Gasthof close to an old Brewery offers great German hospitality and is only a short walk away from the historic centre of Bayreuth. The excellent food and a friendly welcome makes you feel at home and at ease. The "honest German" food is delicious and in Summer musicians from the Festival Orchestra may join you for dinners together with other locals.
Location to town center good, the bed very comfortable the room seemed to have been recently renovated and was clean and bright. And the breakfast was quite good. Parking was problematic, the pillows were (broken) old and flat. No way to block the street lights at night which kept the room fairly bright all night.
de staff and breakfast no
incredible value and by far the best buffet breakfast I'd had in Germany in a long time.
Staffs were very kind and every little bit of hotel has been with extreme care taken care of. Breakfast was excellent. Location ideal. Noise from the street. Although bathroom was very clean, it had an odor issue. The room was cold even though I turned up the heat.
I stayed in the hotel just one night. Everything was absolutely perfect. Staff is very friendly. Good location.
sleep, dinner, breakfast friendly staff
Good room (4 person), Good continal breakfast, 15. min walk from the center of Bayreuth. English speaking reception. At the Michelin Route planner, the hotel Grunau appears as 4 stars. The hotel is on 3. floor in a small center and a chinese restaurant. I would give it 3 stars. It is possible to eat on the hotel, but the varity of menu is'nt good.
not really 4-star, but the price is fair. Comfortable and convenient for people have car to travel. mistake to charge me more 4 euro
Clean hotel,excellent food, relaxing atmosphere
Good, comfortable and quiet rooms. Easy to reach by car from the main roads and motorways. No parking problems at all. Friendly staff. Very good value for money.
The Hotel Proprietor was wonderful and very accomodating; we plan on going back to this Hotel again.
very friendly home like atmosphere, price quality relation, cooperative staff, room with terrace, nice view, funny annimals on site Parking was difficult to use because I was towing classic car on a trailer...The fridge was not working in our room...
The selection at breakfast was the highlight and the ammeneties were clean and adequate. Some issues with communicating due to language issues.
Location, friendly, breakfast OK Swimming pool locked up, village lovely but very quite
Very good hotel, nice staff, good location and food. Interior design is like "80s" .
It suited my purposes well ie to visit Beyreuth. However I specifically requested a room with a bath & booked several weeks prior to my visit. On arrival I was told only 2 rooms had a bath & both were taken! There was a compound underneath the rooms & into the garden for rabbits. At night time there were rats also!
I really enjoyed the friendly staff and the personal service. And the fact that you could still get the full menue after the performance at the Festspielhaus.
I couldn't get a hotel in Bayreuth itself but they very kindly picked me up at the station and delivered me there when I was leaving for no charge. The festival shuttle service is a bit pricey at €40 return. I went one way and got a taxi back (€25 including a tip) but they still charged me for a return. On the whole, I have positive feelings about the hotel. I thought it was going to be a hassle staying so far - 15 mins drive - outside Bayreuth, but the Meister Bär makes it easy and pleasant.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and good breakfast. Also very good location close to the train station.
The staff were friendly. One computer at the reception with free use of internet would be good.
It is cosy, within easy distance of conference venues. It is quiet and peaceful and service is prompt and handy.
A friendly welcome. The hotel has an ideal situation and is very comfortable and relaxing.
Friendly staff, traditional Bavarian decor and uniform, very close to the railway station but only a short walk to the centre, excellent breakfast buffet without the usual irritating music in the background, which for me is a rare and very welcome occurrence.
The friendliness of the staff, breakfast was very good and its central location. No.
The room is small, but clean and well-furnished. The staffs are friendly. There is WiFi internet connection.
clean, extremely accommodating to opera guests. Opera videos on lobby great. Food and service impeccable. loved everything
good rooms, helpful staff, good food busy when bus tours arrived especially at breakfast
The service and meals were excellent. Breakfast included was a truly outstanding benefit. It was perfect for the Wagner Festival: close to the opera house and downtown. I could walk everywhere plus go jogging.
Outstanding breakfast; excellent room and friendly, helpful staff
Breakfast There are few "no-smoking" rooms.
Ideally set up for the Festspiele No
Given we were attending the opera which constrains one's time I found the hotel extremely efficient at coping with out of normal hour meals and arranging transport back from the opera and the staff were at all times pleasant and helpful I did find the bus station noisy but I did have the windows open and it was not a problem with the window shut
Good breakfast pillows on beds were hard and flat.
Breakfast & Brunch single beds are too small
Large room, situated very well in the city
Easy to access and good parking facilities so far. No
the delicious breakfasts, the charming and very helpful staff, (especially the receptionists, who answered every query, reconfirmed our air tickets and booked the electric buggy, ) and we appreciated the bus to the opera house. We liked everything, but would have liked a kettle for tea and coffee... but we realise this is not usual in Germany.
Comfortable hotel and excellent service. Great if you are going to the Wagner festival - the hotel provides refreshments before departure, a coach to take you to the theatre, and cushions for its hard chairs. A nice touch that the manager was there to great the guests on our return from the opera. The bathroom fittings were a bit elderly - the shower curtain in my room needed to be replaced and the toiletries were a bit downmarket for what is a fairly pricey hotel.
The receptionist advised us of the sushi place which was closed due to refurbishment. On a check out the other receoptionist didn't speak any English and when we asked why the hotel charge stated that we paid with the VISA card as we paid by cash. She didn't explain anything, took the invoice from us, went somewhere and on return gave us correct invoice. Again, no explanations, no apologies.
price/location/good value/good restaurant bed comfort OK but minimal
This is an almost luxury hotel, care being taken for every detail to satisfy the traveler. I appreciate first of all the gentleness of the reception desk personnel, ready to help the visitor in every aspect. I must mention here the parking, very secure, placed in the hotel’s underground with an elevator taking you directly to yours room floor. As from me, no reproaches
Like most things in Germany, this hotel is perfectly predictable in its quality: decent, clean, friendly. It's also very conveniently located to the town's shopping centre. The bar is not really very cosy and someone still needs to explain to me why one has to pay for internet connections, whilst you get free ones in the local cafs in town.
Excellent staff and restaurant, well set up to deal with a large number of people staying for the opera festival. The staff were excellent dealing with the booking, which for some reason never made it from booking.com to the hotel No air conditioning in the rooms, which for Franconia in the Summer is not so good
Very well situated, large room, good breakfast, quiet. soft beds
We chose the hotel because it was conveniently located for the Bayreuth Opera Festival. The hotel laid on a coach to and from the Opera. The hotel restaurant was very good for a hotel chain and was open until midnight, making it easy to eat after the Opera. We asked for a double room with a double bed but only twin beds were available despite booking nearly 3 months ahead.
We missed our train connection, so when we finally got there, it was a relief to see the hotel transport waiting for us. We were also delighted by the shuttle service to and from the Festspielhaus in Bayreuth. Enjoyed our breakfasts and the dinner that we had. Friendly staff. Can only be reached by taxi or car.
Later breakfast times suited my agenda The hotel is poorly serviced by public transport (other than taxi) although I understand that the hotel cannot be fully faulted for this issue.
Clean room, bright. Noisy with window open due to proximity to autobahn Poor pillows! European style
Staff were friendly and helpful I sleep with blankets...not duvets
Having a car in the Bayreuth area and being able to park at the Best Western was the perfect solution. We also liked that the restaurant /bar was ready to serve at almost any time of the day. The breakfast was delicious and all the help was very polite.
Abilitiy to use free bicycles to get around the city. Extremely expensive outsourced clothes-cleaning services. One load of laundry should not cost 50 euros to wash. But it did!!
Prompt and efficient service. Friendly staff, Breakfast excellent. Linguistic abilities of staff made enquiries easy. Coach to the opera arranged. The hotel is too far from the centre of Bayreuth if you are attending the operas in the evening. A coach is laid on which is excellent but in the mornings you either have to make another expensive taxi journey to the centre or else spend the morning on an industrial estate. The hotel is great for travellers and if you have a car it can be easily parked and then there is no problem. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
Excellent staff - very friendly and helpful. Very good facilities including shuttle bus to the opera festival and chance to eat late at night Menu a little limited - few diet and healthy eating options
The hotel was very pleasant. Buffet breakfast was very good. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful (and spoke very good English). The location. I was attending the Bayreuth Festival and I would have preferred to stay in central Bayreuth, but all the hotels there were full. The hotel, however, laid on a shuttle bus to the Festspielhaus.
very nice location
Welcoming and friendly staff who were also very efficient. The hotel was confortable and met all our needs. We will certainly stay there again and have already recommended it to friends.
We found this an excellent centre for visiting the Bayreuth festival. Staff were very helpful. Food was very good.
Staff extremely friendly and courteous. Wonderful beer garden patronized by the locals. A good sign! Very nice room. This is a family run hotel and everyone chips in. We so appreciated their kindness and patience with us.
The plus noted was that the location was so close to the Autobahn and therefore suited for just an overnight stay while on the road southbound. The nice beds contributed to a good night's rest! No!
I can said only that was my second booking the hotel and I plan in November to book this hotel again
The Hotel Bayerischer Hof is a small hotel with a very warm feel. The food is very, very good. The location and the service are excellent. From Desiree at the Front Desk answering all our questions, to Amy in the restuarant who helped us with our car's GPS, we can't say enough about the quality of the popele who work at the hotel. Of particular note was Sonja who runs the resturant at night. She was wonderful. Very charming. We very much enjoyed our chats with her during our meal. Rooms facing the front of the hotel can be noisy late at night.
We had a Junior Suite which was lovely. Worth the extra payment. The heating system seemed to be timed to come on when we were not in the room, so it was chilly at 6 pm and 8.30 a.m. Not too serious as the weather was lovely whilst we were there.
The location and my room was a decent size with a nice size bathroom. Make sure to get a room facing away from the train station if you need to open your window.
staff were courteous, charming, helpful; room was spotless and quiet room a little warm at night (no aircon)
Excelent Food in the Restaurant. Frendly Staff
The hotel stuff was very nice, did everything to my comfort. The flatrate internet was also very usefull. The location of the hotel was for me excellent - near the rail station ant the city center.
I was there to attend a performance at the Festspielhaus and the location was perfect for that adn teh old town. Staff were very friendly and I had an excellent lunch from the daily special menu, delicious and extremely good value and service. My standard single room was compact, very clean, comfy bed and met all my needs.
Very Central location. Good facilities. Helpful staff. Free Internet. Willingness to allow me to send a parcel by mail for collection when I arrived - especially appreciated. No air conditioning. No tea/coffee facilities in my room. No refrigerator. I understand that these are not normally found in European hotels.
Sauna, food, location close to the station NA
The Parking facilieties
Excellent atmosphere done by owners. Beautifull and quiet landscape. Recomended highly!!
Unlike our experience when staying at other hotels in Germany, it appeared to us that the owners were not so used to having international guests which could be interpreted as being unwelcoming. This was slightly off-putting, although the hotel room was large and clean.
The personal from the hotel was really helpfull and warm. Thank you.
Hotel Kaiseralm beautifully located in the Bavarian hills 26 km from Bayreuth, convenient to the Wagner festival (the hotel provides shuttles at 9€ r/t). Across the street is a nature park with sensational hiking trails. I was there in August for the Wagner Festival but the hotel is clearly also set up for winter sports as well. There is a lovely indoor swimming pool and two saunas. The breakfast buffet was extensive and excellent; the food over all in the restaurant and beer garden was delicious, well-prepared, and reasonably priced. Plugs to recharge my iPhone were inconveniently placed; in general the decor could be updated; the wifi was iffy and worked best in my bathroom.
The staff was very friendly and the food served in the restaurant was excellent! The bed was a bit uncomfortable.
Very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of space, excellent location.
Very pleasant family owned hotel, breakfast and restaurant good.
Friendly staff, good breakfast, WIFI available in public area. Tiny bathroon - I'm not tiny.
Very friendly, warm welcome, all round comfortable, 8.4 out of 10 & value for money.
Pleasant countryside and a very nice downtown area.
The family which owns the hotel was very friendly and helpful. I wish they had some form of Internet access in the rooms.
The room was very large & the owners/staff were most hospitable. Breakfasts were ample, parking adjacent to the hotel & it was very quiet. The back garden was also very pleasant.
