Pros: The property is in a beautiful countryside location. It is a couple of minutes by car from Frauenstein which has some cool historical sites, including the ruins of Frauenstein castle. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean with nice views. Breakfast was bread, meat, cheese, boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc. It was about what we expected and decent for the price.
Cons: We were travelling with two small children and a few of us had an early meeting the next morning so we could have done without the loud karaoke in the restaurant below us until midnight.

Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: A bit higher prices both in restaurant and hotel. Some room equipments were damaged, but no major problems
Cons: BE AWARE when traveling on weekends, the hotel allows parties until late in the night and keeps all guests awake... After making the owners aware multiple time of our noise complaint the party finally stopped at 3AM. After our horror night, the management refused to offer a decent apology or compensation for our hours of no sleep. We argued with the manager in the morning, who stated that; '' we could sleep from 3AM onwards'', with lots of debating the hotel offered us 15EUR... This left us deeply disappointed with their hospitality and care for guests.

Pros: Super good
Pros: Clean, cozy, very nice atmosphere. Absolute recommendation.
Pros: Unfortunately, wifi was weak
Cons: internet connection
Pros: The manager on duty, from the Czech Republic, went above and beyond his requirements to help us check in, get wifi, and organize dinner since the majority of us did not speak German.
Cons: The pool could have closed at 10PM
Pros: Very friendly staff Nice clean rooms with comfortable beds. Welcome homelike feeling Good and fresh breakfast
Cons: Curtains are to small for the windows so we could not properly darken the room.
Pros: Amazing CZECH personnel , sauna and table tennis all inclusive. SAFE parking. Great beer of course ☺️
Pros: Great breakfast!
Cons: Be aware you may have to ask for the sauna to be put on if you want one on Sundays!

Located in Altenberg, AHORN Waldhotel Altenberg is in the mountains, within a 10-minute drive of Altenberg Mining Museum and Altenberg Bobsleigh. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Planning an event in Altenberg? This hotel has facilities measuring 7083 square feet (658 square meters), including a conference center. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: Room was clean, nice, silent and very dark - perfect for good night sleep. Bathroom was also clean, kind of small, but it's fine. Staff everywhere was super nice, I mean in the restaurant, at the reception, chambermaid in the room and also life guard at the swimming pool area.
Cons: We were expecting better food. We had half board in form of buffet breakfast and dinner and we were expecting something different, especially more kinds of protein. If was like "default" cuisine you would get anywhere else. There was only 1 bath towel per person, it's too little if there is a swimming pool.
Pros: Location wonderful , great for kids and hospitable.
Pros: Perfect location for walking, cross-country skiing, cycling, nice indoor and outdoor pool.
Pros: I enjoyed the pool the most. The pool felt as a place of relaxation. The breakfast was good. Good coffee and good mix choice for what to eat for breakfast.
Cons: The lack of people speaking English. Most of the employees where only able to speak German and Czech. The matras of the bed was not comfortable at all compared to other hotels I have stayed. The bathroom was way to small. Being tall means that you won't be able to take a comfortable shower since it is way to small. Next to this the hotel restaurant is quite expensive for the quality of food served.
Pros: The hotel is a great place for families with plenty of facilities for both children and adults to enjoy. The outside environment is peaceful and safe for children. There are some good walking paths located around the property but not much else in the area in terms of attractions, restaurants etc. Good breakfast and comfortable beds.
Cons: The added extras come as a bit of a surprise so come prepared to use more money than expected. Example: mini golf costs 10 euro per family, billiards 1 euro per game. The package deal with meals included is ok and the food selection is large but the restaurant is packed with people, hot and the staff are only semi-friendly. We ate out several days instead. We often had communication problems with staff because we are not fluent German speakers. This also meant we couldn’t use the facilities to the fullest. Nothing is multi lingual in the hotel.
Pros: Family hotel good for a short stay. I would highly recommend the half pension.
Cons: Property is little bit out dated, food is sometimes a lottery.
Pros: Nicely lit cated
Cons: Awful athmosphere.
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helped you with whatever questions you had. The premises were very clean considering the amount of people using the hotel and how long the hotel is operating. The hotel was dog friendly and staff accommodated the dog.
Cons: The doors to the outside area from hotel ( emergency doors) were always locked which meant you had to continuously walk all the way to the main entry / exit door. I would recommend that the doors are allowed to be opened in the stairs to give people the opportunity to enter the outside area without having to walk and congregate at the main door / reception area.
Pros: We booked a room here just for one night in the summer, but we wished to be able to stay longer. The hotel lays at a beautiful place in the mountains and offers a lot of different activities for both adults and children. The room was equipped with everything you could need. At breakfast there was a very wide choice. I can just recommend for everybody this hotel.
