The Villa(No.404) with a small pool for villas occupants. This old hotel uses precious tropical trees for the furniture, etc, which would be impossible to produce nowadays even for 5 star hotels. The hotel compound are crisscrossed with concrete rectangular steppping stones in the sand which are badly lit and dangerous(once I peeled off the a toe-nail).
The location is beautiful, and as yet unspoiled by mass tourism - this is likely to change, however, with the opening of the new international airport. Beach is very clean, which can never be taken for granted in this part of the world. The pool villas were very nice, and the staff friendly. We had booked "superior" rooms originally. These smelled of mould and were simply awful. The building was also very noisy and we were woken in the morning by slammering doors and loud children. Fortunately, we could upgrade (at additional cost) the following morning. Even though the staff were friendly, service in the restaurants was erratic and we frequently did not get everything we ordered - even though our orders were always repeated by the waiter Everything was very overpriced, compared to the general price level in Indonesia, and the quality of the food in the restaurants (including breakfast) was average, at best.
The hotel is located on a beautiful and lonely beach. There's fairly no infrastructure around the hotel, so you have to stay most of the time in the resort. The prices are above European standards, which is inappropriate for Indonesia.
Good buffet dinner, nice beach, good SPA, long happy hour:) Too many local children alowed to be on the hotel beach.
