Maritsa Lodge - Kakopetria - Building
5
9.0 Excellent (475 reviews)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: As we were staying for a few days, Maria provided us with kettle, tea, coffee, plates and cutlery. (But there was limited space to prepare our daily tomato salad!)
Cons: I guess it would have been nicer to be in the main building rather than the annex and the room was perhaps a little small but all absolutely fine.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location in the Old town, not too far from the car park. Good breakfast, helpful host. Lots of terraces and balconies you can sit, cozy lobby.

Maritsa Lodge exceeded our expectations. There is nothing we can complain about.

Pros: A new yet traditionally built boutique hotel in the middle of beautiful old Kakopetria. Rooms are modern and clean. Especially the lady who runs the day-to-day business in the hotel will be remembered by us: Arlene made our stay extraordinary by her friendliness and helpfulness.
7.7 Good
Pros: had fantastic view of mountains and it was great to hear the sound of the river. We were very surprised to find the luxurious bathroom was equipped with jacuzzi with colored lights and great sounding radio. The log fire was another terrific feature which one would not find in a hotel room, In my opinion this was the most perfect romantic getaway and can't wait to return,
Cons: Not being familiar with the area, it would have been nice to have recommendations for local restaurants.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything. If you are looking for a quiet mountain getaway and base for exploring around Mount Olympus and the Troodos area, this place comes highly recommended. We stayed one night but wished we had found it earlier. It is a quite steep drive up, but there is parking right in front. We had a xosy room with fireplace and a balcony with the most stunning view of the mountains. So nice we decided to keep the curtains open when going to sleep so the view would be the first thing we saw in the morning. The owner is very relaxed and calm making you feel very welcome. We got to use the nice pool after a hot day looking at churches in the area. Best dinner we had in our 3 days in the mountains. Pork chop was to die for and moussakka great. All in all very recommendable.
Cons: We could have used more electrical outlets in room. But nothing you can't plan around.

Pros: Τhe location is excellent !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hosts, amazing location and views. Good value
Cons: -
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the hospitality of the stuff
Cons: equipment in the room is old and uncomfortable
7.1 Good
Pros: The breakfast was satisfying and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The served as a free welcome drink. The room is clean, gets warm quickly and there is hot water.
Cons: Because of the rainy weather we had to stay inside and there are not a lot of things you can do. The facility is old in general. The toilet in our room was old (the one with a plastic toilet seat). There was a bad smell coming from the toilet when we got at the room, but the manager managed to solve the issue. He was also willing to change our room to a bigger one that was available if we wanted.
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location in the very central part of the village with balconies overlooking the river below, warm and dry rooms inside with plenty of space
Cons: The building itself could have been renovated both from inside and outside (facade overlooking the river), furniture and interior of the rooms and lobby are far outdated, thus the hotel looked slightly abandoned even despite its prime location, breakfast is mediocre
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel, spotless rooms with view of old Kakopetria and river down below. Great location, friendly stuff. Definitely worth the price
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very convenient hotel with more amenities that we expected at that price. The hotel is not new, but it has a homey feel, it's like stepping into a very clean, renovated 80s house. Huge bedroom and bathroom, comfortable balcony overlooking the river. Three nice beds, mirror and dressing table, another table, and yet another table and chairs on the gorgeous balcony. Multiple WiFi routers on each floor, so our internet was even better than at home! Friendly staff and CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. No musty smell. All in all very, very happy, and that includes two hard to please teenagers.
Cons: Would have loved some croissants and some real village bread for breakfast instead of the white sliced kind. There is also an on and off noise that is probably the elevator, but that will annoy only the more fussy sleepers like me. I always travel with earplugs, so that was not a problem. Roof garden has an exceptional view, but that was partially obscured by the lowered tents.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: View from the room was very nice, the room is clean and cozy. Hot water, water pressure, bathroom - everything OK. No insects or ants which seems to be a rare thing on Cyprus. The place itself is very quiet, we were probably the only guests in the hotel. The breakfast is very good, "cypriot size" portions won't leave you hungry. :)
Cons: The check in was a little bit slow - I had to call the guy to make him come and give us a key for the room.
Troodos Hotel - Troodos - Restaurant

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Lovely views of the forest and right on troodos square, where it’s possible to enjoy hiking , cycling , horse riding among other activities. The hotel is clean , quite comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful. The spa looked nice, with a view on the mountains , we will try it next time!
Cons: There was no shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. The view was spectacular.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was nice, that‘s basically the only thing that was good. The staff was also friendly.
Cons: The hotel rooms were outdated, very old furniture. Even though we booked 1 large bed, we got 2 single beds that were extremely uncomfortable. Also the restaurant at the hotel was super disappointing - the only food (dips with bread) we didn‘t like in our entire stay in Cyprus. The spa was not open and not actually a spa u could go to without any appointments (all booked out and also very expensive compared to other locations). The bar didn‘t have coal for their shisha even though they advertised shisha. Very disappointing over all - didn‘t like our stay here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Being a family run hotel, with family members working across the seniority ladder it has two advantages, the first being it definately feels homy and welcome which binds well with the cosy decor across the seasons and secondly clients needs are always met to the best of thir ability whenever something is requested. A variety of bith local and continental dishes at reasonable prices ensures you can comfortably enjoy 2 additional meals a day to the complimentary brekfast upon booking the room. Finally, for those into agroturism, they've gone a long way into partnering with a in-house spa, mountain bike centre offering uplift service and other nature expericeces. For your afternoon tea or evening cheese platter splurge be sure to visit the exquisist Cafe 1725 to the left of the main hotel building for an unforgetable experience.i recommend sitting inside by the huge window with panoramic mountain views paired witth possinly the best chocolate lava cake on the island.
Cons: During busy season parking may be an issue! However, they do offer free cutsomer exclusive parking on a first come first serve basis, which seldomly fills up completely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfection! !!!!!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice polite staff and location, can imagine it to be awesome when the snow falls..
2.9 Mediocre

Cons: Rooms are a little dated. Service is slow but friendliness of staff makes up for it.
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was nice (especially the yoghurt and honey but also the halloumi and mint cake).
Cons: The room wasn't very clean. Some of the towels weren't that clean either. This was on my first day.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food in the restaurant is beyond amazing it's truly unique even though its cypriot food that you can get at any other restaurant you can tell food was made with love. I would go back just for the food. Beautiful, quite atmosphere and lovely weather. The rooms are brand new modern studios, very comfortable they look exactly like photos so what you see is what you get. Most importantly the owner Charis and his brother Dimitry were very welcoming always asked if we needed anything. They laughed and joked with us even when they were crazy busy. Charis (owner) even gave us his secret panna cotta recipe Shhhh and let me tell it was the best we ever had. Honestly they gave us an amazing experience and we cant wait to back again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing place! The views, cozy and clean rooms (just like the pictures), the food.... we loved everything!! And of course Charis, his brother and staff nice people! 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The wheelchair accessible room was very spacious and the bathroom easy to use. Well done! It made the stay stress free and comfortable.
Cons: I wasn't there for long enough!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was full so the atmosphere was really nice
Cons: We had trouble falling asleep! They gave us a room which was clearly meant for families with children. We were a couple trying to relax and we were given a room which has a connecting door leading to another room which is clearly a room for families with children. The thing is that when our neighbours arrived late at night we could clearly hear the whole conversation they were having as well as the singing in the bath! Their kid didn't want to sleep either (don't blame him) so we heard that argument as well. Let me get things straight i do not blame the family whatsoever but i do blame the hotel. The stay was for a couple and the reception saw that the couple was in their late 50s. They could have given us a better room!
10.0 Excellent

Cons: My stay wasn’t long enough. The only disappointment.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice renovated room Great breakfast
Cons: Too crowded common spaces and the staff was not enough to cover all the clients
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The tranquility and peace one feels when one stays with you. The cleanliness is exceptional. (Room, public areas, swimming pools.)
Cons: Soundproof through doors and walls was rather poor. (Doors slamming and conversations in the rooms could be heard through.)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: supper location, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and dinner , very clean hotel.
Cons: nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The check-in was very fast, of only 1' lasting. We were also provided late check-out for free, up until afternoon which was appreciated. The whole hotel (rooms, common spaces, pool etc) were sparkling clean. We tried the buffet at the hotel several times, since it was a good value for money for only 14EUR for food and sweet as well. We were asked and provided a fully renovated room at a high floor. The hotel is ideally located at the edge of a mountain, with lots of parks and gardens throughout the hotel. You will find yourself gazing through the gardens, the flowers and the views trying to relax from the buzzing daily life.
Cons: The other facilities (such as sauna and or indoor pool) should have been opened and not closed. Staff should have been aware of some basic knowledge of the Greek language and even the English language; we were found in situations that we could not been properly understood by the staff. Also, they need to be a bit more organised or to have more staff in the food & beverage sections; our orders were pretty late, irrelevant of the time taking our order. Moreover, we did like the lunch buffet more than the dinner buffet, however as a general comment, the food was lack of taste. Also, we did not like the fact that at the breakfast time 15' before ending, I have kindly requested to replenish a certain type of food, and the answer was that 'we did not have that now, but anyway the buffet is closing in 15'; it is certainly the first time I have experienced this.

Pros: Lovely hospitable owner and staff, great location, comfortable bed, table and chairs in the balcony. Good breakfast. Good Wi-Fi. Sure will stay here again
5.4 Okay
Pros: Staff was very friendly and polite.
Cons: Very old furniture. There was some sort of noisy chimney/generator next to our balcony that produced a lot of smoke and we could not open windows because of that.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location is perfect, good base to explore the area and surrounding mountain resorts, good value for money. This is a budget hotel so don’t expect luxury. The manager and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our host gave us a generous and friendly welcome and he assisted us in our arrangements for touring the area.
Cons: Everything was fine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location of the Hotel is excellent. The views from the balconies are beautiful and so is the breeze if you sit outside on a summer evening. Everything you need is within walking distance. The owner (Andreas) is very friendly and social with customers. Going back there feels almost like visiting a friend :) Also, the breakfast included is very generous making Ekali Hotel excellent value for money.
Cons: The bathrooms are uncomfortably small :(
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and able to visit places of interest in surrounding area. The staff were very helpful and breakfast and dinner were very good.
Cons: Car Parking around Hotel not very good and although we had requested and told we had a Parking space this had not been allocated as some other guests were inconsiderate. Also as we had a disabled badge there was no actual disabled parking space outside the Hotel. Also think rooms would benefit from mini-fridge
7.5 Good
Pros: Basic budget hotel used as a base to visit various sites around the Troodos area. The owners were very friendly and Mr. Andreas snr very informative. Our room on the 3rd floor (309) had two balconies and beautiful views over the village. If you are looking for Value For Money than the Ekali is the place. We have no complaints.
Cons: The shower is very small with plastic curtain which sticks to you. The breakfast would benefit with the addition of some fresh fruit. Not enough parking area around the hotel but that is not the hotels fault it seems to be a Kakopetria problem. Overall the hotel is in need of refurbishment and with a few changes it could be so much better. These are not complaints, just observations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for money, bed was nice and hard, had a good night sleep, although not a balcony as in pics, our view was obstructed by a big roof next door Buffet breakfast was very good for a 3 star hotel. Nice veranda to have your coffee but all the smokers ruined the atmosphere (my personal opinion as I’m not a smoker
Cons: Room very small, could be a bit claustrophobic, apart from that everything else was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and polite staff, clean rooms, great outlook!
Cons: Small parking place

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The jacuzzi and the fireplace were great!
Cons: There is a small hole on the wall and cold air gets in.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, rustic, traditional house in a great location, easy to get to. Lovely patio area to sit outside and for those renting upstairs apartment there's a balcony. Owners met us in the village to show us the way. It was a bit difficult arranging our arrival over the phone as we don't speak Greek, but it all worked out and they were very kind and gave us eggs from their own hens. Two churches in village (one UNESCO listed) are beautiful and easy to visit: we just called the number on the notice outside the church and the custodian came in about 10 minutes. You can walk there along the river.
Cons: Not much cooking equipment in the kitchen (no frying pan). Mattress rather hard. It was not clear from description on website what the layout would be - balcony or not? Etc.
7.1 Good
Pros: The hospitality was good and the house had most of what someone expects!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The traditional way
Cons: The spa bath was broken
7.5 Good
Pros: Charming , quaint , lovely area. Proper Cyprus!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location was good and easy to find, nice nature and next to the river. You could literally hear the river flow. The lady in charge was very sweet and kind.
Cons: If you are average height (1.80) then jacuzzi is basically too small. I’m tall and could hardly fit and I just gave up. It’s better to book the normal room rather than the “deluxe”. The price for the deluxe is not value for money. In addition, the room was not getting warm although we had the fireplace & the air condition switched on. Very strange to be honest.
7.9 Good
Pros: The house is a pretty old traditional village house. Finally we had a room with a fireplace, which made our stay really nice. From the balcony there is a nice view and we had our breakfast there, enjoying the rain outside. It's super close to Kakopetria, which is a must to visit and there are surprisingly many restaurants and supermarkets in Galata as well.
Cons: The double bed was squeaking with every little move.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious studio! The host was very helpful amd friendly!
4.2 Okay
Pros: It is 3 minutes driving from Kakopetria village
Cons: The jacuzzi was with cold water after a couple of minutes of working. Also we had to pay €80.00 per night without breakfast just to find out that we had to pay extra €5.00 per box of wood for the fireplace.
7.5 Good
Pros: The host, old lady, was very kind, she bring the bottle of wine and fruits from her garden

Pros: Excellent choice for a peaceful getaway from the city. Owners really friendly and helpful. The villa is VERY clean and in great condition like new. Highly recommended from everyone that needs an escape from the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an awesome place to stay. Do you want a break from the hustle of the city? This very nice "summer cabin" has everything you need for a nice getaway! The staff was friendly, place was clean, the pool was awesome and location is great for being a bit disconnected (although if you want to always stay connected there is good wifi). It is easy to reach and not too far away from the city (we went from Larnaca). Great stay, would definitely book again! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: it's perfect for a couple weekend gateway, very clean, cool games, and great view and swimming pool!!! strongly recommended!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: the place was wonderful for me - the little river below the wooden balcony was like music in my ears :) the connected "village cafe" is very charmful, i liked to sit there with a "cyprus" coffee or a "sandwitch" and listen to the sounds of the rushing water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is rustic in a typical house inside of the old Kakopetria. The views from the rooms are green and the river. It's the real and truly experience! Above the rooms there is a very typical and beautiful coffee from the same owners and the lady is lovely!
Cons: The shower system is very typical and rustic and for that hard to have a bath, specially for womens.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location, friendly and helpful landlord
Cons: the quality does not meet the price, was a little bit dirty
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, hearing the river just below! Perfect.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location excellent
Cons: Difficult to find, little signage. Definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. No teabags or milk.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was beautiful. Our bedroom overlooked the stream and the forest, and sitting on the balcony overlooking it, was just idyllic. There are no cars in Old Kakopetria most of the day, so it is very peaceful and quiet. The lady that ran the hotel was lovely, she seemed genuinely pleased to see us, even giving my wife a kiss. She could not do enough for us.
Cons: The problem with a room overlooking the stream is that you do get the odd insect in your bedroom! This made it less comfortable, but the air conditioning worked well. The general cleanliness of the room was good, If you were being picky, the bathroom could do with a better clean that it had, especially in those hard to reach places that are often ignored, but are still visible. The building was very old, so the fittings were a little ad-hoc, but that is to be expected if you are to maintain the fabric of the building.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, in old town, next to and high above a small tree-lined river, gurgling away ... perfect for sleep. Great lunches, with cafe above open from 10 to 6.
Cons: Can't get breakfast before 10am, but you can do breakfast nearby at small hotel or in (new) town a few hundred metres away. A bedside lamp would help. Hot water flow for the shower is weak and takes a bit of getting used to.
7.5 Good
Pros: This place is like a little tree house in the middle of the woods with a nice view to the river. It was pleasant and relaxing to seat at the little balcony to hear the sounds of nature. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and bedsheets. The location and view compensates for everything. I would stay here again during the warmer months.
Cons: Finding the location was not easy. Parking areas are away from the room but reasonable walking distance. Very rustic cabin with a little bathroom that requires a while to figure out how to use the hot water. Bring extra toilet paper as only one was provided. No hairdryer. TV signal was really bad. No internet. Colder inside than outside without using the A/C. Overall you get what you pay for. A rustic old house but better than camping.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: the location, the river down the path
Cons: this is the worst hotel I have every stayed in ! disgusting bathroom, not cleaned for a long time. the sink still had hair in it and toothpaste from previous guest. the floor was also sticky. fridge had mould and hair in it. the room was not as advertised, it was a dark room with no view to the river. the balcony you had to access through small corridor and 'share ' it with neighbour guests. the lamp on the ceiling was broken (glass). the third bed didn't fit in the room so it had to be partially under the higher bed. the condition of this bed was very bad. I will never return to this place not even for free. avoid !
7.9 Good
Pros: The location was heaven!
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Almost in the centre of Kakopetria.Very fast check in and check out!Soecial cleanliness especially in the W.C. Quiet place for relaxing and personal moments.....
Cons: Everything was special.....
6.7 Good
Pros: In the very old part of the village
Cons: Quite dark in and around the room. When I arrived the woman at reception was on the phone and someone else was all set to show me the room but she insisted I wait until she got off the phone. There was no urgency on her part and when she did finally get off the phone all she wanted to tell was the time for breakfast which I'd already been told.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very tasty evening menu, music, intetior outside in the garden_perfect night
Cons: Need second pillow maybe
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was nicely decorated in a rustic Cypriot style. Jacuzzi available in the room. Big comfy bed. The food at the restaurant was fantastic, and featured live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
Cons: Rooms are not very soundproof. The room lighting was a bit dim.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is one of the rare places in Cyprus where they don't "punish" solo travellers by charging the rate of a double room. That is why I came here. And I found out that there are a lot more reasons! Very friendly staff. Location in the old village. Everything in walking distance. Quiet. Relaxing. Huge room.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: Definitely it not a place for families. 1) loud live music until 1 in the morning and noone told us anything about the time 2) there is no parking place near the facility, the only available parking if you are lucky is 700 meters away 3) room was very dirty and uncomfortable 4) overpriced
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cosy and traditional
Cons: Breakfast was poor
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is amazing. Nice village!
Cons: Uncomfortable bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rustic true rural feel of Linos Inn is so calming and situated in the old village enveloped in history and charm. The cobbled laneways just draw you in. A nice big rooms with space to move and plenty of shower space. There is a surprise around ever corner and a footprint worthy of a TARDIS. The restaurant has a great range of food & beverages to accommodate most palates. Please be aware that on some Saturday nights their could be live music in the outdoor area which goes until after midnight. If you are a light sleeper or go to bed early it may get a little noisy. Otherwise it is so peaceful that total relaxation is possible. The staff are so wonderful and helpful who seem to make your stay just perfect. So a special thank you to Mary, Ganes, Siraj and Samikshya. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Linos Inn to anyone visiting the Troodos area.
Cons: I couldn't fault this establishment, it was perfect.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was hard to find this place ,but after we found it, it was great place to stay for a night. It looked like that we came back to the past.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location is great and the restaurant and terrace are very nice. The manager was very nice and the food was good in general (although not outstanding).
Cons: The room where I slept the first night (101) was not at all clean (the lamp was literally full of spider webs...). Also, it was dark and you could hear absolutely everything from the upper floor. When I told the manager, he immediately proposed I change to another room in the main building. This one was better but, still, the bathrooms are not in good shape. I had dinner there the two nights I stayed. The first night I was placed at the bar, although some tables were empty for the rest of the evening. And it took them 45 ms to bring the food. The next day (Monday) it was not so crowded and everything went smoothly. I would recommend to avoid this place during the weekend.
