Pros: Maison des Algues is a very pretty house to stay in. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the hosts are polite, welcoming and very helpful. A place to totally unwind and enjoy the simple things in life. The kitchen was open for guests to help themselves to coffee, tea, etc. A nice touch. Also they provide bikes for their guests and the great hot tub in the garden.
Cons: Only quibble is there are no taxis available for those who do not hire a car. The bikes are great but a good taxi or uber service on Ile de Re is necessary.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt really welcome at Villa Verde: Fernanda and the other lady working there were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Villa Verde is gorgeous: beautiful decor, large rooms, airy breakfast room opening onto a balcony and garden. The breakfast was fresh, healthy, varied and abundant. The ambience at breakfast was very pleasant with soft Brazilian music playing at the background - sets you up for a relaxing day. The room was spacious with a fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities. Toiletries were organic and sustainable. One could also make use of bicycles belonging to the property, which is a great way to encourage sustainable tourism. Villa Verde is located near a park, through which you can walk to the beach. We had a very restful and pleasant stay - thank you Fernanda and the team.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice location, beautiful house, nicely renovated. Staff very friendly, good breakfast, big room. Only a short walk to city centre.
Cons: Parking is only one spot in front of the house, just on the street, not guarded. So parking should not have been mentioned in the description of this accomodation. Also, you can indeed use bycicles free of charge. We used two of them, both not in good shape (no lights, flat tires, ...). Pitty because it is nice cycling around La Rochelle.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff big comfortable room very clean superb breakfast all hand prepared
Cons: Parking in the street kettle in room but had to ask for reabags and milk Tiny bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nicely furnished will all the necessary facilities. The location was fairly near to the centre.
Cons: Nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: On arrival we were met and advised of a couple of restaurants to use in La Rochelle, an excellent choice and experience had at La Meme on Rue de Dames. Breakfast was well organised and received, however our friends request for Gluten free bread was not met which was a downside to our experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, parking was ok, on the street but right outside
Cons: Was really disappointed that despite promising that gluten free bread would be available for my wife this seemed to be a surprise to the lady serving breakfast. This requirement was clarified and confirmed at the point of booking and for us really tainted an otherwise great experience

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host who gave us some great recommendations for our stay in La Rochelle. Room was lovely. We'd stay there again.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed and nice breakfast.
Cons: Expectation that you pay with cash. (Didn't that stop in the 20th century?) Ruined our stay - we thought either everything was sorted by Booking or we would pay by card on leaving. Created stress and worry on checkout and car was on a meter. Didn't like the entrance - 2 long dark corridors. Noisy people upstairs - you could hear every footstep in the morning which woke us up - and they had breakfast right outside our room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice room and decor. Good location.
Cons: Not enough hot water. The owner was very busy and we didn’t feel particularly welcome.

Pros: Very nice welcome. Excellent breakfast - Elizabeth had prepared a couple of home prepared additions. Tastefully decorated and very good value for money.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner is fantastic and very helpful. Place has an eccentric decor one finds comforting and interesting, RL furniture with ancient prints mixed with modern art. Very relaxing place just steps from the port. Public parking lot is close. Just made a mistake too many of you will no visit and I will not be able to have a room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A joy from start to finish, Angelique made us feel at home in her beautiful house. Great design and perfect location.... a real treat! A perfect place... Thank you for having us.
Cons: Tea / coffee making facilities in room would have been nice... other than that faultless
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location could not have been better with easy access to parking and the harbor. The room was spacious and lovely and our hostess was friendly and knowledgeable. And, a delicious French breakfast.
Cons: Not a thing. We were delighted to have found such a lovely place to stay in La Rochelle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay at this quaint and cosy chambre d’hôtes. A baby bed was installed in our room. The room on the ground floor is perfect for couples with baby as we could have a glass of wine in the court yard while our son was sleeping. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The hosts were very nice and helpful. Central location with lots of restaurants nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic. Housekeeping was excellent. Angelique couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old French traditional house with a perfect welcoming hostess. Excellent position for visiting La Rochelle with many restaurants nearby.... would be happy to stay again.... maybe for longer!
Cons: Entry could be easier and front door bell needs attention
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place is a lovely old house very well looked after. The host is very nice and polite helped us a lot with her advice. Noting that the guests are limited to their room and the small lounge and patio.
Cons: The breakfast was ok but not worth the 13€ pp. There was bread, croissant, fruit and jam plus coffee. I had read reviews on booking about breakfast being amazing but having tried it it did not prove to be value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole stay was a wonderful experience . The facility was first class and the lady who owns and manages the property was delightful, very considerate and very helpful . The breakfast was great, fresh croissants, fresh fruit and wonderful home made jams . I would definitely recommend .
Cons: There was nothing , I did not like. I suppose we would have liked to stay a bit longer, but perhaps next time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at La Maison du Palmier mid August 2018 on the last leg of a trip around South West France and Northern Spain. Located in the centre of town and less that a two minute walk from all the restaurants and bars its perfect for you if your looking for a more realistic French experience outside of Hotel accommodation. The property itself is beautifully decorated and full of character. We stayed in the garden room on the ground floor that overlooks the courtyard garden. The room is peaceful and charming to stay in with an eclectic mix of antique and traditional French furniture and furnishings that combine to give the room a stylish and restful ambiance. We never met the owner who was away on holiday but instead were taken care of by her mother Claudine who is a thoughtful and attentive host. Breakfast is optional and well worth it. A note to anyone driving. The property is adjacent to a car park so unloading luggage is easy but if you don’t want pay for long term parking you can park your car round the corner for free in one of the car parks. Getting up early improves you chances of securing a space as you will have to persevere for a place later in the day or in the busier months when everybody seemed to be looking for free spaces.
Cons: nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience of staying there was excellent. The breakfast was fantastic and most of all the best part of staying there was the way the lady of the house made us feel so welcome. It very much felt like you were getting a personal first class service.
Cons: Cannot fault anything.
7.7 Good
Pros: The location is fantastic, 300 metres from Old Port and shopping streets. The owners, treat you like their best friends, the bedrooms are sublime, and the area tranquil.
Cons: Parking can be difficult.
7.3 Good
Pros: An excellent location to bars, restaurants, shops and Port. Within walking distance.
Cons: There was a cat in the guest house which was not previously mentioned... not good if you have allergies! I however did not mind this.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location overlooking old port. Everything a short walk away. Right in the heart of old La Rochelle. Nice fresh contemporary decor with a nautical theme. Staff extremely helpful and great restaurant advice.
Cons: There was a kettle in the room but no coffee or tea bags. Car parking was secure but a short walk away from hotel (can drop off/pick up bags right outside) - wasn’t a problem.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were clean and beautiful. The view was amazing and we really enjoyed sitting in front of our window taking it all in. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is a very fun place to stay and the room was quite even though it was right above a busy street.
Cons: Despite the clear directions on how to navigate to the check-in parking, it was very overwhelming to drive through the streets of pedestrians to get to the loading zone. We ended up just parking down the street a bit and walking to the front of the hotel.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Book the room with port view and order breakfast in the room. We loved it! Hotel location is great, in the center of Vieux Port and the staff extremely helpful and attentive. Place certainly to recommend for a short stay in La Rochelle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous view and very helpful staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is fantastic. Right on the harbor. We had a harbor view which is worth the little extra. Staff were extraordinary nice and very helpful. Julie on the front desk couldn't do enough. Windows were fully double glazed and so the room was incredibly quiet even though we had restaurants below. The view from the room means one could quite easily stay in the room with a nice red instead of going out.
Cons: If you have a lot of luggage it could be a bit difficult getting things up to your room but not extraordinarily so. One can bring a car to the front of the hotel for loading and unloading as parking is a good 10 mins walk away. Again - it didn't trouble us too much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fab little hotel, basic but just what is needed in such a beautiful location right on the harbor front. Be aware that you can drive along the front to drop luggage and check in. There are two steep flights of stairs going up to reception, no lift, we were in room 17 at the top so four flights for us, it just worked off the extra calories we had drunk and eaten. Staff are super nice and were very helpful with my elderly parents. Parking is a little way away but just follow the signs for Parking Verdun, underground safe carpark. We will deffo be back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room very good and helpfull staff
Cons: Nothing

Cons: The room was a little small
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bedrooms have quality large beds with quality white cotton bedding, this old stylish building is decorated with contemporary furnishings and is spotlessly clean and has air conditioning. Just a short walk into town and the town beach. Receptionist was exceptional and went above and beyond to satisfy our family.
Cons: Our double bedroom (number 2) was just off reception and had a small window with no view, just another building. Parking was stated as available but was full with 6 cars, so we had to park on the street.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic welcome and check-in, very sympathetic and cordial receptionist. Stylish room, private parking, comfortable bed and bathroom.
Cons: Tiny room with all furnitures and equipment for 1 person, not for 2, e.g. 1 chair, 1 bedside lamp, tiny table.

Cons: Absolutely nothing to dislike
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Le Manoir is in a good location a little away from the heart of La Rochelle. It takes 15 minutes to walk through the leafy park to the Vieux Port. The hotel is decorated with what I would describe as 'pared back' elegance, very plain and simple with stand out pieces of artwork here and there. Our room was compact but very comfortable with a large shuttered window overlooking the road. The lady on reception spoke excellent English and was most enthusiastic in recommending places to visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish property, in a convenient location
Cons: Our room was a bit on the small side, though others are available

Pros: Both Philippe and Yann were attentive, polite and friendly. Everywhere withinn the building and outside was extremely clean and tidy.
Cons: I would have loved a mirror in the room, all ladies like to check how they look! I am sure had I asked a bottle of water would have been provided in the room, but maybe complimentary water would be a nice touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Phillipe and Yann are lovely hosts, really helpful and will go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Lovely pool to relax around. You are best with a car but there is a good bus service up until about 9.30 in the evening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very nice and friendly people, great place to stay, amazing house in beautiful area. Very deliciouse brekfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness and helpfulness of Philippe and Yanni was most welcoming . They engaged with us and our fellow guests and ensured we conversed appropriately with fellow guests at breakfast., translating when needed They were more than happy to let me watch the FIFA world cup final with them on their superior large curved screen with Bose sound. I supplied knowledge of the players and we shared the passion. My wife Patricia could not bear the tension and stayed in their lovely pool the whole time. We could not thank Philippe enough for giving us both a lift to La Tortlillere near Puilboreau, despite very sketchy directions, to our friends' silver wedding celebrations the day after. Many others got lost and were delayed in their arrival. Yanni's art works and sculptures were fascinating and uplifting along with his friend's pictorial flower works displayed in our room (Cabine 2 ,if I remember correctly). The location is very handy for a walk around the old village, the main roads to La Rochelle, the Sunday market, the Isle de Re and the airport.
Cons: The bed could have been bigger (we are used to super king size) but it was comfortable enough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Charming, helpful and attentive hosts. Tranquil, safe and secure location just a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of La Rochelle. Lovely rooms, most now have their own toilet. Swimming pool is a real bonus. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Pros: It was a pleasure to stay at the B&B. Our hosts were attentive, helpful, full of knowledge about the area and what to do. We followed their recommendations on a number of occasions and were very pleased that we had. The breakfasts were delicious with home made jams and cakes each day. The facilities were just right and water was supplied free of charge. An easy run into La Rochelle and great bus service if we didn't want to drive.
Cons: nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful home made preserves and cakes!

Pros: Smallish room but comfortable. Great location. English language and French newspapers available. Modern and clean hotel. Great atrium area where breakfast is served. Freshly squeezed orange juice is the standout breakfast item...
Cons: Parking was expensive €13 and impossibly small spaces, about 20cm wider than the car, so beware. Breakfast was also expensive €14.90 and plentiful but particularly underwhelming. Hit the streets for more choice and better value!
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, room ok
Cons: We didn’t get a parking spot, had to park at public parking garage at horrendous fee at quite a distance. We had reserved parking.

Pros: It was a beautiful building which felt homely and had a stunning windowed area for eating breakfast. The location was perfect being in the bohemian quarter. Far enough from the centre so that it was quiet yet a 5 minute walk away from all of the main attractions. The staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive.
Cons: Nothing

6.3 Good
Pros: Very modern, clean and well presented.
Cons: Very difficult to have breakfast earlier than 9:30am. This meant we missed at least half the day before breakfast had finished. Pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Although a kettle was available you would think for the price coffee and tea should have been provided, but it was not.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay and perfect hosts, they even collected us from the airport late at night after our flight was delayed and we couldn’t get a taxi. Really good pool, excellent breakfast and pleasant walk into town centre via the market. Highly recommended.

Pros: The fitout is fabulous. Very stylish!
Cons: There was no refrigerator in the room which for travelers with food allergies is essential as we have to carry additional food suitable to our dietary requirements.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice spacious room with good lighting.
Cons: Parking is a not at hotel but not too far. The public seating area is not very inviting it could be improved.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is very smart and modern. Location is great, right in the centre of La Rochelle. The rooms are very minimal which I generally like, but the decor could perhaps even be described as ‘stark’. Staff friendly and the room and Hotel extremely clean.
Cons: For a really outstanding experience it would have been good to have a few more facilities in the room, such as a fridge, face cloths (flannels) and better quality tea and coffee selection. But still, we enjoyed our stay.

Pros: The host was very nice and was trying to help us with the planning. Nice french breakfast. The bed was comfortable. We got also a cot for our 2 years old baby. There was a baby high-chair in the kitchen.
Cons: The rooms were a bit small, but still ok for this price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely warm friendly welcome. Our host even helped us unload our bicycles & put our panniers in our room. We were also provided with welcome drink & map of town with best walking route to get there. Also dinner recommendations ( we went to Chez Meme & were not disappointed, quirky, good value & delicious) Our room was fabulous beach themed, with great shower & comfortable bed. WiFi excellent! Breakfast outstanding, with fresh seasonal fruit & plenty of coffee served with a smile:) Highly recommend! Hope we can visit again in future & stay longer. Also very welcoming to our 2 small dogs.
Cons: Nothing

Overview Reviews
When you stay at Chambres d'hôtes Des Tours à La Rochelle in La Rochelle, you'll be by the sea, within a 5-minute drive of Tour de la Lanterne and Tour de la Chaine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Isabelle is lovely - the pool was a real bonus as we got early check in so were in the pool in lovely hot weather by 3 . Huge room upstairs ( tight staircase ) with a sofa - lovely hotel . Quite a walk into La Rochelle but if you go down the road and turn right there is a shopping centre with a supermarket and a great pizza takeaway where you can also eat in ( don't be put off it is excellent and very good value ) we had a large pizza for two , bottle of wine and a large ham salad for 23 euros . The breakfast is very good as well
Cons: There was a coffee machine and kettle in a small communal area downstairs which was a nice touch but no cups
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, 30 minutes walk along seafront to town. Casino food shop on way to town as well as a block of shops near to accomodation. Plenty of free parking. Really nice hostess, Isabella was very friendly. Room great size with patio door onto private garden and pool.
Cons: The breakfast was nice but limited, fruit and cereals as well would have made it better. There was a kettle to use in communal area, but no cups provided and no fridge if you wanted to store milk, so disappointing. A fridge in the room itself would have been very useful, plenty of room for it and two chairs as one of us had to sit on the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is such a treat that we regret not staying longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great host, lovely house and good breakfast. The house is delightfully decorated and rooms thoughtfully arranged. The pool is an added bonus. Our host was very thoughful and helpd us re taxis and so on
Cons: All was very good: only thing I can suggest is perhaps the use of a fridge for guests to store cold drinks etc would be an added bonus, in the future But everything was really excellent, so bravo
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All o.k.
Cons: I missed the desk in the room. Small sound isolation.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice, light, cozy room, with wooden floors and ceilings, with big comfortable bed and an adjacent bathroom with a big bathtub and two sinks, plus a separate toilet. The host, Isabelle, is very pleasant and thoughtful person and she ensures her guests have everything they may need. There was a hair dryer, shampoo and a shower gel provided, as well as coffee/tea/hot chocolate downstairs in the common area, the wi-fi connection was fast, there is a seating area outside in the garden, with a pool which the guests are free to use over the summer months. Breakfast was the same every day, but it was good, especially the croissants were excellent. We arrived before noon and Isabelle had the room already prepared for us which allowed us to spend the full day discovering La Rochelle.
Cons: It is a bit far from the city centre - 40 mins walk from the train station, 20-30 mins from the city center, but the walk is very pleasant, through a park and then along the ocean side, so not a big deal at all. It is also possible take a bus or rent the Yélo bike to get around the city easily.
5.5 Okay
Pros: It seems like it’s newly renovated so it was clean. And if you like jogging, location is perfect! You can jog along the seafront and there’s a nice cafe right in front of the sea. You will like breakfast if you like two pieces of bread, yoghurt and orange juice.
Cons: It is almost 30 mins from the centre by foot, it cost 15 euros each way on taxi so not ideal if you want to eat loads of french food and drink wine. Also, we bought very nice cheese knowing that there’s a fridge in the kitchen but it was locked. You are not allowed to leave your luggage here after check-out. There’s no sound proof, renovated in very cheap material. Host is around for breakfast being very friendly but only to French people so if you are foreign, you might feel awkward.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was very quiet and peaceful.
Cons: A refrigerator to put cold drinks into would have been very welcome. This was the only shortcomings at this property. Other guests we spoke to also were of the same opinion.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The house and breakfast was lovely and the host was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The area is not great for anyone travelling alone as its really difficult to get taxis and you wouldn’t walk there alone at night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location, just out of city centre, good parking nearby,
Cons: A bit more variety at breakfast, maybe a little fruit or cereal. View not very good,

Pros: Staff were very helpful with information. Also efficient. Check in and out was streamlined and quick. There was water available free of charge (during a hot spell). The location was very convenient just 5 minutes from the city centre. The decor was attractive. Bed was very comfortable. Shower room was well stocked with toiletries and towels and shower was Strong. Booked parking but it was hard to find a spot to stop outside the hotel to check in before going around to reserved spot behind hotel. This is the only fault I found. Would be happy to stay again and recommend this hotel.
Cons: Parking was non-existent outside the hotel. Reserved parking behind the hotel was fine but only accessible after checking in.

Pros: The room was very clean and the shower excellent. The breakfast was very good, with a nice selection and the young lady working the room was extremely helpful. The location was excellent for us, close enough to everything, and easy walk to the port but far enough away from the crowds. Parking was convenient.
Cons: The bed was quite hard and both of us awoke with neck pains after the first night. A change of pillow for the second night helped. The fitness room was in need of new machines, the treadmill in particular.

Cons: Reception area and guest lounge area too small
