The hotel is very close to the town centre and has on site parking. The rooms are very modern and well appointed. Breakfast was good value for money.
Free parking. Right in the center.
The staff were very friendly and helpful during our short stay.
It was a nice clean hotel, price very resoable but the breakfast, nothing special , I expected a bit better for the 8€pp The only remark I can make on the rooms is that the TV channels are all French, no BBC nor CNN I was happy clean fast and cheap
Good location for overnight stay for car journey through France to and from Spain, Italy and South of France
Very nice hotel big room you also get what you paid for, very good location, very quiet. Service good would return in the future. Found the breakfast a little sparse. Would have been nice for a mini bar in the room.
the historic value of the property and its contentc lack of individual televisions in the rooms.
location and beautiful building and friendly staff obilgotary breakfast for each guest significant extra cost
Nice surroundings, excellent swimming pool area, room with charme, Breakfast for 11 € per person was much too expensive
The first room we were shown had a loft and awkward layout with no view. We asked if there was a room with a view available, and immediately were shown a beautiful room with a balcony and view of the mountains. The staff was very kind and made it feel like changing the room was no problem at all.
We had a lovely stay and a happy time. Staff were extremely helpful and the dining facilities were very romantic In our room there was a steep stairway to sleeping area and this was difficult for older person.to climb. Otherwise bedroom very nice.
The hotel is located in a pretty and quiet park. The rooms were decorated in a mixture of old and new style giving a cosy feeling. Our room had an additional heating fuel stove which was smelling lightly.
lovely old building in lovely grounds
rooms have been recently refresh, refurbished and they are very cosy, quiet and comfortable. Special mention to our bathroom with was huge the swimming pool was not very clean
Excellent facilities, superb food and drinks. Nothing
the ambiance, the food and the peacefullness were all very good. the staff was attnetive. when we opened our windows, we were invaded by flies, room 18. after i killed most of them, I complained to the front deask, only to be told that the hotel is near a farm and there are flies sometimes.
international TV stations need improvement (CNN, RAI, German stations), poor pictures
The room was attended daily. Fresh towels and cleaning was daily and up to standard Nothing in particular
Ok hotel if you really need a last minute shelter... dirty rooms but dirt cheap....
I enjoyed the fact that this hotel still accepts smokers. This hotel should not be in operation: rooms are in a terrible condition, dirty, floor destroyed by water, no maintenance. Reception closes @21hrs. Key stored in machine, but was not functioning. I arrived 21h05 and could not get the key. No phone response. Receptionist tried to leave @ 21h15 and had to check me in manually.
Easy reservation and check in. Hotel is very easy to find and very close to Geant (superstore) and centre of Montelimar. Free wireless internet. Towels were very thin and rooms could use a very deep cleaning exercise. The use of the shower created a complete mess in the bathroom.
Good position, fair service for good money, easy out-of-working hours, good breakfast, familiar staff Bathroom has poor water protection mainly when using shower - plastic doors or waterproof curtain would improve the comfort a lot.Better air circulation in the bathroom would help as well.
LOw cost, convenient location on route to Cote d'Azur and proximity to centre of Montelimar. Poor maintenace of facility, no sink plug etc.
It's a fair walk to the town centre but no problem with by car
Convenient & cost was very reasonable. Breakfast good. Staff friendly and helpful. Clean towels in room every day - unnecessary really. A fan was avialable in my room but my friends had to ask for one. Room was very basic and cheerless and ws in urgen need of redecoration. No air-conditioning. The shower room smelt strongly of drains and was in need of refurbishment and the bad smell was the first thing noticed when I opened the door into the room. On a road which remained very busy throughout the night and becasue of the lack of air-conditioning in August the window had to be open.
the only saving grace was the friendly lady at reception i was expecting basic but this was beyond anything i expected - tiles missing from the bathroom - no hook to hold shower up on wall - thin very small towels - basic small fan in temperatures of over 40 degrees - not even a kettle, cup or anything for a drink - the maching downstairs that had drinks run out and was not filled - nowhere to sit with family other than in the room - worst hotel ever stayed in hence checking out early and finding a 4 star in Lyon
good price, good breakfast room quite basic, difficult to find hotel
The location is magnificent. The restaurant is excellent. The room was comfortable and we would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was very basic for euro 12.50.
The location of the hotel is very picturesque and the staff were flexible with breakfast requests. Reception staff were very helpful. The room was very cramped with an additional bed, which was not of adequate size for a person in excess of 5'. There was no airconditioning and when the windows were opened we were joined by 2 bats(chauve souris) causing much mirth and anguish at the same time!!
The setting was incredibly beautiful
The ambiance and location, we had a suite with a walk out garden, really good, access a little hard for less mobile people. Thought the breakfast was a little below standard.
We liked the quiet location and the ambience of the medieval village. It was relaxing to walk around the buildings and surrounding countryside as well as enjoy the fine dining at the restuarant in the evening. Only a small suggestion to improve the signage to the property as we found it difficult locating the place.
This was our second visit - charming atmosphere, excellent food, nice swimming pool, wonderful view from roof top where breakfast and dinner are served in summer. Interesting pretty mediaeval village to explore. Very enjoyable stay.
Great Hotel. Wished we could have stayed longer. Our room opened out onto a patio overlooking the pool. Be sure to have dinner. Food was excellent. And breakfast served on the rooftop terrace was very tasty.
Rooms individually furnished with antique French furniture. Superb meal in the restaurant and extensive wine list to suit all budgets. ( The sparkling wine was particularly good value )
Beautiful location, lovely village, excellent terrace restaurant. Very pleasant, helpful staff. As there was no a/c, probably rarely needed anyway, a fan would have been good on very hot night - none available.
The drive to the location and arrival at the location and the walkout suite to the grassed garden. Breakfast a bit meager for Canadians
Calm envirnement No
We used the hotel as a stopover en route to the south of France and the facilities were good. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was more than adequate. Our room was a motel style room which was clean and comfortable and was situated close to the lovely swimming pool, where it would have been lovely to sit out in the evening had it not poured with rain!!
The swimming pool was a great asset
Friendly staff Small room, we could hear our neighbours talk and toiletvisits.
This Hotel was great, the room was spacious as well as the washroom. Had room for parking area included which was also secured with a gate with pin code. Also has a well maintained swimming pool and best of all -the family run staff were really friendly and of great assistance during our stay. Absolutely no flaws in this hotel.
Very nice staff
Very friendly staff, nice room, spotless clean: recommendable! Hotel directly located on a busy street, therefore quite loud
Price Hotel contact information provided was only valid M-F, we stayed on Saturday and were worried we could not check in before desk closed.
accueil tres chaleureux- chambre très agréable et bien décorée
friendly. We stayed in the hotel, but the motel part looked very good. The pool was a fair size - deep enough to dive and cool off. it's on a big road, but you don't notice it. It's a fair way from the centre, but it's an easy drive.
Everything - beautiful old building in perfect location. Excellent level of comfort.
Very nice staff, very nice room, lots of space.
excellent location and original decorations Breakfast totally unappeling (quite common in France)
From check in to check out, everything was perfect. The beds are very comfortable. Location is in the center and very convenient for walking. Yet it is very quiet due to being set back from the street in a private courtyard. The staff goes the extra mile
Family room is gigantic in space. Kids loved it. Squeaky wooden floor if you walk in the room. Bathroom is okay. Very nice stop on the road to Spain
Manager very helpfull in suggesting good routes to explore by motorcycle through mountain roads. Out of sight parking for motor cycles. No bar but plenty within walking distance
If you like lots of ambiance and an old style stay this is the place. The bed was excellent, the staff helpful and kind. Our only complaint would be that they could offer brewed coffee vs instant in the morning. We would never expect to find instant coffee in france!
Motorcycle friendly. Excellent parking facility. Friendly staff. Charming, old style hotel, excellent, quiet location. Very comfortable bed, maybe a memory foam mattress.
The building and the owners Nothing
Car Parking facility Friendly and helpful staff Attractive architecture and garden Lack of restaurant and bar
We got lost in Montelimar and were so glad to finally make it to Chateau Hotel Du Monard. The welcome was friendly and our room pleasant with a nice view. The "castle tower" is more of a decoration but is very cute and lends atmosphere. We did not play golf but the golf course looked gorgeous as we drove through it. We ate both on the terrace and in the dining room and found the food reasonable though not gourmet. The hotel gave easy access for exploring the Cotes du Rhone. We would recommend it to friends. The only things we did not like were the cost of playing nine holes of golf and my food (braised lamb shank) the first night we were there was undercooked, tough and not hot. All the other food was OK and they were very busy that night after a golf tournament. We felt we could have been supplied with more than one tiny piece of soap for a two day stay and the kleenexes could have been replaced.
This is a wonderful place for a weekend stay. We stayed for one night while travelling back from holiday in South East France. The setting is lovely, very relaxing sitting on the terrace watching the golfers trying to avoid the lake! Had a very good meal in the restaurant and there was an excellent choice in the breakfast buffet the following morning. Would definitely return if in the area again.
The swimming pool is very nice and the rooms are spacious but a bit average. The restaurant serves nice food. We did not like the motorway to be in sight. We think the word chateau is misleading as there is nothing like that around. Price/quality is not right. We have stayed in better hotels this holiday at a lower rate.
Nice atmosphere No greenfee offers for guests
Wonderful setting for dining - overlooking golf course. Good menus.
The food was good
The location on a beautiful golf course and the view from our room. The food in the restaurant was disappointing. The mattress on the bed was also quite hard and uncomfortable.
The staff and general comfort of the hotel Only the directions to it
The location on a golf coiurse was very good, but not well signposted, unusual for France! The food let down the hotel, it was poorly cooked and did not come with any extra vegetables other than the one accompanying veg.
The welcome was very friendly and check in was painless, my room was lovely very clean and spacious, walls were thin however I think most were at hotel for business so I was not disturbed. Excellent value for money I would definitely return and recommend it!
Rooms were recently upgraded with tasteful French design. Very simple, very pure, for an authentic experience that we (tourists) would like to experience in France. Owners have children themselves so this is a family friendly place to stay (the family room can host a family of four). Breakfast was splendid.
the owner was very helpful and the hotel was quite easy to find. We liked the position in a small very nice village veryclose to Nice airport The room requires some updating
The staff were friendly and flexible - we were allowed to extend our checkout time to fit in with flight times.
Really nice hotel, good reception staff. We loved the room which had clearly been recently updated but with quirky decor (a Trunk used as a clothes cabinet for example), Location is good very good 2 min walk to the main restuarants.
Good location. Friendly Staff. Clean Room. Good Free Wi Fi In Room. Nice breakfast room. Was given breakfast free of charge! Any complaints we have must be taken in context with the price paid and I would still recommend this hotel as a quick stop over. Contrary to decription on booking.com ALL rooms do not have air conditioning. Small room and bathroom. Room faced a very noisy road and park area used by teenagers. Loud music from up the road went on into the early hours. Had to find own parking space in a metered area when the description on booking.com states the hotel provides free parking.
The hotel is very nicely decorated, especially the table and dishes at breakfast, nice croissants - not the usual industrial food quality you get elsewhere. The room was rather tiny - but no problem for a short stay.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very small.
The central location in the town They did not accept American Express - was still to come.
excellent central location with parking. Owner friendly and helpful.
- Good working shower, enough bathfoam - secure parking and free - Bedding of poor quality - overall impression of rooms and garden is poor and needs decorationa and maintenance
Petite dejeuner in the garden was very pleasant. The staff were both pleasant and helpful. The dinner menu looked quite good, and I would have been interested to dine at the hotel, although others -- vegetarian--wished to try the town for a wider selection of plats. Air conditioning in the room would have helped, especially as the location of our room -- facing the entrance path of the hotel--obliged us to keep the drapes of the window closed. Wi-Fi reception our room was non-existent, although in the room across the hallway, it apparently was good.
Nothing in particular Access to rooms via a narrow spiral staircase poor. Breakfast poor value. Room booked as 'Courtyard View' the view was of a flat roof.
We stayed for evening dinner which was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very basic, even by French standards. The room that we were allocated was also very basic with a very small shower room/toilet.
the owner made us feel at home and helped with directions
Happily, we could check in until 23.00 and not until 22.00 like mentioned on this website, otherwise we would have arrived too late. No lift, but you would use it only twice: on arrival and when you're leaving.
Probably the hotel would be fine after renovation which is now on. Quite a good breakfast. The room was not very comfortable, especially the decor.
The room was very small, price/quality weak. The breakfast had more price than content. The dinner is acceptable, but the guests have no more special price as a compensation for the room quality.
Very nice people, and the restaurant was great =
Nothing really comes to mind..We just wanted a handy place to stay but in future would stay in the town centre as the prices are even lower.... It is an overpriced hotel....and we were overcharged at the desk on the way out but this was remedied quickly and only because my partner , who is French was able to point out the error. Had she not been there......I Would have been in real trouble. Also...for the rather high price..even a small breakfast should have been included in the price.
The whole outlook of the hotel was great, staff so welcoming, very clean swimming pool, excellent food although a bit pricy, beautiful rooms
After driving 600 miles in one day the pool was refreshing and the food was good. A good place to stay. Price of drinks was quite expensive
