It is perfect for short stays (weekend) or for a week, soothing or for sports activities, with family or friends. Coming through different seasons will allow you to see it all: -Ewe milking (from February until end of August), -Lamb birth (January - February), -Animal care (daily feeding), -Shearing: last weekend of April -Shepherd return from the fields (from May to September) Take part in the numerous festivals throughout the year (Potato day, etc.)
Pros: What an amazing stay, we wanted to stay longer! We were greeted by Francoise, one of the owners who was so welcoming. The gite is attached to the farmhouse of a working sheep farm. We really enjoyed the tour around the sheep farm and the sheeps cheese was beautiful! The gite overlooks the Pyrenees and we thoroughly enjoyed eating our breakfast on the veranda of a morning. We found the accommodation to be very homely, cosy, clean, relaxing and had a fully equipped kitchen. Thank you Francoise and Jean Pierre for our amazing stay :-)
With a stay at La Maison Bleue in La Cabanasse, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Bolquere-Pyrenees 2000 Ski Resort and Font-Romeu Ski Resort. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and laundry facilities.
Pros: Warm and atmospheric, with very attractive communal area.
Cons: Check in is specified as 5 to 6 pm. I arrived 5.40 and there was no one there. We phoned and then had to wait half an hour outside in the cold. When someone arrived to let us in there was no apology.
Pros: We warned them we would arrive pretty late since we were going to ski under the full-moon light in Niu de l'Àliga refuge, in Masella ski resort. They arranged everything to let us go in the house after midnight with no problem at all!
Pros: This is excellent property to stay if you like to share the kitchen facilities and the lounge with other people. The private bedrooms are spacious with good matresses and bed covers. The propery is clean and has the charm of the original old house. We visited in February with night time temperatures below zero outside, we never had cold, the house was always nice and warm with plenty of hot water for washing. The location is ideal for the local ski areas and walking areas. There are shops in the village and an easy access to the route national to Perpignan or Andorra. Certainly a place that we will revisit. This is a great place to stay for a week of hiking or skiing. See you soon Alain, Brigitte and Khalid.
Pros: Self catering. Well stocked kitchen with everything you will ever need. Comfy living area with wood burning fireplace. Very helpful as the evenings get cold. Quiet location, very tranquil town. No loud pubs or nightlife
Pros: Genuine French property , nicely presented , good kitchen facilities, good parking near the gite .
Cons: Curtains not dark / thick enough - let in the light . No shower curtain around the shower/ bath .
Cons: VERY VERY BAD RECEPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!, SOMETIMES PEOPLE DO NOT AWARE THAT THEY ARE WORKNG AND OFFERING A SERVICE FOR WHICH THEY GET PAID. Although we informed that we would roughly get the place by 17,00 and we arrived late (by 18,30), it seems that there is usually no staff at the place, they do the check-in by phone....this should be announced for clients before to have battery phone at arrival and pay an international call. This is the price we pay to allow the maison blue pay lower salaries. Two important things: no keys for rooms (only locked being inside) and no keys for the front door!!!!!!!, the owner asked me to discuss with the other guest to agree arrival time!!!!!. Even I asked him for one key more but it seems that he only works from his home.
Pros: Great cooking facilities
Cons: Lots of stairs and no locks on the rooms.
