Pros: The owners were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Quality and attention to detail clearly underpins their approach. The room was big as was the bathroom.

Pros: Breakfast and dinner were both excellent.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional, indeed! We agree with all the previous reviews. Everything was just absolutely amazing! Le Patio exceeded all our expectations, but it is true that the hospitality of Paul and Nicky made our stay even better. They truly are such great people, making sure that we were well taken care of. To name a few: the beautiful bedroom, their impeccable attention to detail, their breakfast “for champions”, the comfortable beds, the complimentary drinks, the very nice dinners cooked by chef Paul, their cute and friendly furry friends, Clyde and Angus and as a bonus their on point tips for exploring the Dordogne and where to get wine, just to name a few. We were sad having to leave and really can’t wait to go back. Book without hesitation!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nicky and Paul couldn't do enough for us. They made brilliant recommendations for where to eat and even made the reservations for us. Rooms and beds were very comfortable and spotless with everything you needed with regard to toiletries and complimentary chocolates and additional water in the rooms every day. Excellent shower too. The breakfast was wonderful. Nicky makes all her own jams and because my husband has a yeast intolerance, she made walnut, chocolate and banana cake instead of providing bread for him. Fresh fruit, eggs, fresh bread, ham, cheese, croissants, fruit juice, organic muesli and wide choice of tea. We had an evening meal the day we arrived. Paul cooked us duck on a cassoulet style mixture of beans which was the best duck I have ever enjoyed. A very good local wine was also provided. Very often when we returned from a day exploring, we were greeted with fresh pots of tea and coffee with biscuits. We also had cause to visit the doctor while we were in La Tour-Blanche and Nicky and Paul did a translation of the symptoms and made an appointment for us. Paul also very kindly walked us down to the doctors to show us where it was. Thank you to you both. Xx

Pros: Really lovely renovated house, finished with a unique sense of style. Marie and Bastien were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We arrived in the early evening and Marie kindly booked us a table at a restaurant in the next village. Lovely continental breakfast with home made preserves. Room was comfortable and we slept extremely well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Marie the host was hugely friendly and attentive to all requirements at every stage...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This was an amazing refurbished 15th century home in the tiny town of Cercles. This is a little town, with about 20 houses and a church. No stores. Very out of the way. I did not realize that when we booked it. BUT, Marie, makes a wonderful host, and we thoroughly enjoyed being so far out in the country. It gave us one more perspective of the France, on our tour of the county.
Cons: Far drive to everything. Like Dordogne, or Bordeuaux.

Pros: The most friendly and accommodating hostess ever!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: big comfortable bed, spacious
Cons: en suite
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beds very comfy Breakfast lovely Free bike hire!
Cons: Initially told we would be sharing a toilet with other 2 guests. We believed bathroom facilities to be private when booked. However they did sort it immediately and other guests used their own facilities.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rustic, charming property, complete relaxation. Amazing food, thanks Jo & team. Amazing hospitality- thanks to Alice, Chantelle and Lisa. And not forgetting Tanya - thoroughly enjoyed the chats by the pool. Thanks to everyone for making our weekend another to remember xx
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, staff, accommodation, Sunday lunch. Sunday lunch is amazing. We were there in 2018 and took a detour on our travels to enjoy Sunday lunch there again. It’s a great experience. The food is just fantastic. The atmosphere and wonderful Alice make it so pleasant. The swimming pool and setting means the rest of the day can be spent relaxing by the pool.
Cons: Couldn’t have been better. Nothing we didn’t like.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The substandard bathroom. The lack of real cleanliness. Lack of attention to detail by owners who seem to think that bonhomie and apologies replace efficiency.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: La Lunaire is our favourite place to stay in France and we always try to spend time there when we're in the country. This was our third stay and definitely won't be the last. It's got a completely unique feeling which keeps drawing us back. Jo, Alice and Tanya are all great characters and each time we return feels like we're visiting family. The garden room is a particularly special place to stay as it's completely detached from the main part of the building so it's ideal for a couple. Breakfasts at La Lunaire are more than adequate and provide a good choice of breakfast foods including fresh fruit. Evening meals and Sunday lunches at La Lunaire are absolutely spectacular so we always time our visits to ensure we'll be there for at least one restaurant meal. Apologies about this review which didn't fully convey just how good we think this place is. For some reason, it seems to have been translated from English into French and then back to English but has lost a bit of substance on each translation.
Cons: I can't honestly think of anything we don't like about La Lunaire.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food is amazing-sone if the best we’ve ever had in France
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This chamber d'hote lived up to previous good reviews. The hosts Michaela and Frank were very welcoming. It could have been a little difficult to find but some research on Google Earth was helpful. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. We arrived on a day when it was very hot and Frank made it clear the pool was available for us to use which was great. The breakfast was plentiful and Frank was able to recommend a restaurant about 20 minutes away for our evening meal and kindly booked us a table. The meal was one of the best we had eaten during our trip to France. The venue was wonderfully peaceful being in a rural setting. Would highly recommend and wish we had stayed more than just one night.
Cons: The only problem we had was very poor water pressure for a shower in the evening for a short period, but this seemed to resolve itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rural grounds with brilliant swimming pool and areas for relaxing. Our room had a small terrace overlooking the garden. Good breakfast. Close to picturesque village of Bordeilles with great Restaurant des Promenades and chateau. Good base for a short holiday.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dream location, a really old castle in a small lonely valley with just nature around, really calm, in a national parc, no ways/busy or ugly things around, just sweet old villages. Renovation and decoration of the house, highest tastefull (think Milk, Kinfolk). Breakfast at the terrasse overlooking the valley with just bio products in lovely vintage cups and pots. Nice swimmingpool in the natural garden. A truly unique place.
Cons: They have kids you can hear sometimes. But it's not a hotel and it makes the place alive. Nice for people with kids as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was so wonderfully French in the way we usually imagine it. The lovely Ftench owners are a hard working couple striving to restore this beautiful chateau in a way that is chic but exquisitely simple...just as this 500 year old property should be. When we talk about ‘escaping to the chateau’ in the UK, this one is the authentic French real deal. Not overdressed but serene and peaceful for a contemplative visit if that’s what you want or need. An organic part of the French countryside. My sister and I were genuinely inspired by this place along with the integrity of the owners raising their little family there. Thank you Julie & Joanne
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle in the middle of nowhere....Nice pool.
Cons: No complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: The bedroom door did not lock
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Bed was extremely comfy, the decor was right up my street - quite different. We would definitely love to go back again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is stunning and the building is beautifully rustic. Our bedroom was very spacious and the bed extremely comfortable.
Cons: It would have been helpful to have a sign directing us from the car park to the entrance as the building is so big on arrival it wasn’t obvious which door to approach to gain access. There were kids bikes and toys dotted around the garden which could have been tidied away. The night before our stay a storm caused damage to a power line so there was no electricity for the duration. A torch / flask of hot water for tea or coffee in each room would have been a welcome thought by the proprietors because once evening fell our room was pitch black and we couldn’t make use of the communal lounge area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly hosts, character property.
Cons: Dinner a little late first night - but meals delicious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful beds, and linen, with a bright room, quirky bathroom that was wonderful to find. Loved the whole charismatic building. the hosts were kind and welcoming and the food was fantastic. We loved the home made bread and jams, the evening meals was also informal and a delight, served in a real authentic Chateau environment. We would not hesitate to book to stay again.
Cons: I liked everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The castle has been beautifully renovated and the grounds and garden surrounded with trees and river give a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a relaxing holiday. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. The common room has a great library with plenty of great books to read. The breakfast is delicious, homemade with local produce. The location is perfect with beautiful villages and excellent restaurants in the surrounding area. The host family are so friendly and welcoming and gave us plenty of advice for sightseeing. The whole stay was absolutely perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful French property and delightful French hospitality. Welcoming and very accommodating hosts who accepted us as a very last minute booking. Location was charming ... could have stayed forever.

Fantastic breakfast, and evening meal on Sunday which is rare in France. The setting is beautiful, next to a large lake, far from the road - no noise. Huge grounds, dog made very welcome.
