It is a beautifully renovated old mill building with a sunset lake view over the medievel walled town to die for.
The hotel was pleasantly situated on the outskirts of Ciudad Rodrigo in a converted mill from a bygone day, retaining a lot of the features (stone walls and wooden beams etc.) in the rooms and public places. Our corner room overlooked the river below and a distant view of the castle. Altogether, a satisfying stop on our trip through Spain. Signage for the hotel was not obvious as we were coming from Portugal and we travelled the streets of Ciudad for some time before coming to the turn-off which took us down a country lane to the Inn. Once there, all was quite pleasant except that we had to go back into town for dinner as there is no restaurant either there or close by. With an expansion of the business this could be a first-class facility. Lots of potential.
Very friendly, clean and comfortable. Nice location by the river. Homely feel. No food available during the day.
the setting was fantastic, although their was a walk into town which may not suit everyone. all aspects of hotel were grand.
Pleasant people - Lovely location on the canal - High quality fixtures and fittings in the rooms - Good buffet breakfast We have only stayed here in October but both times the restaurant has been closed unfortunately.
Location and surroundings Although we knew that on-site catering was limited to a cafeteria that "serves toasties", there was no prior indication that we could not eat before 21:00, and that breakfast was only from 9:00 - far too late in both cases for travellers using the hotel only as a stop-over.
CH and a small hotel having a lift Breakfast could be improved and difficulty in communication
Nice and tranquil with a good view along the river. An old mill recently renovated but sadly not retaining much of the character. No amenities - an unused tennis court and a dry and dusty garden! Quite a long walk to the town (or a short drive)
Attractive position, clean modern facilities. We stayed in February when temperatures were low. Although no problem with heating in the room, the rest of the hotel was unheated, with the exception of a large attractive fire in the lounge area, although the owners/staff seem to be relying on this for their own comfort and it was not possible therefore to share in this facility!
This is an excellent value character hotel located on the outskirts of Ciudad Rodrigo. Our room was spacious and clean and had a view up the river towards the old city. Some nice restoration of the mill has been done on the ground floor and there is a large bar, but currently no restaurant. The hotel surroundings are rather scuffy, and some better directions are needed on the website. It takes about 20 mins to walk from the hotel into the old town, which is fine if you want a stroll before dinner, but in bad weather or at night you really need to drive.
The food was very good and a reasonable priced. The air conditioing in the room was very poor. We would not return to the hotel because of it.
Interesting memorabilia of bullfighting, including a bullring in the grounds. Sink leaked; shower didn't work too well. Room over kitchen ventilation. Car needed to reach nearest town, Ciudad Rodrigo. Catered more for large groups than couples.
it´s not a 4 star hotel!!!!
Only the location I would not stay at this hotel again. Garage facilites are extremely dificult.
Beautifull building, bedroom and situation in Ciudad Rodrigo. friendly staff. It's in a old building and you can ear what's going on in other places, principally if you stay in the 1st floor.
Ciudad Rodrigo is a really remarkable small town. The hotel was very well located to explore the town and the nearby countryside. The value for mony of the hotel is unbeatable!
Perfect for an overnight stopover on route to Portugal from France.
Brilliant position,in the centre of the old town.
The hotel was above expectations for the money. Room and outlook very good, bathroom facilities excellent.
The restaurant is particularly good, why not try the fixed menu a real mouth watering bargain
The Hotel was in a lovely position full of character and the rooms were comfortable. Sound transmission between adjacent rooms is poor you can clearly hear everything said in adjoining rooms
The situation Late in the night (3, 4, 5 h) there was a lot of noise from other rooms. There is no isolation at all, and we can follow all the steps made by our neighbours. As the walls cannot be removed, perhaps recomend the guests to be quiet.
Excellent location in town centre; welcoming and friendly staff; quiet and comfortable room; secure parking at reasonable extra charge, and good breakfast (not usually included in Spanish hotels in this category).
Convenient location near the historic attractions in Ciudad Rodrigo. Breakfast included was sparse (coffee orange juice and a bun or toast - no tomato for the toast or fruit etc) and they ran out of bread on the second day. Air conditioner dripped incessantly and we had to put a towel down.
Very central in Ciudad Rodrigo, quiet, no criticisms
Friendly and co-opperative staff though no. English spoken. Please write at least 15 words Strange absence of staff - we were only guests and alone in hotel
Everything here looked brand-new and modern, well thought out and arranged, so the room itself was fine, as was the entry area and breakfast room. Had an elevator for those needing to go to upper floors. Hotel is very close to the main plaza. The hotel is right next to a main gate on a road out of town, and the sound-proofing wasn't good at all, so when cars and motorcycles went by, there was a lot of noise in the room. Also were a fair number of loud talking pedestrians there.
Lovely staff in the restaurant for dinner We feel that a lot of the Paradors need better signposting
Lovely hotel in a great location. Set high above the river below. Must see the hidden garden here and walk around the ramparts to loom over the local countryside and see the stork nests! Charming parador and very comfortable. The evening meal was expensive and not particularly good, which is a shame as they were advertising a new menu with local food so we gave it a try. Go out for dinner.
Great converted castle with lovely garden terraces overlooking the river. Everywhere in town an easy walk. We were not warned when booking that main tower of castle was being restored and completely covered in blue sheeting and scaffolding. Disappointing for photos.
This hotel is in a wonderful location, it is a converted castle and decorated very tastefully. The town is very old and well worth a visit Nothing was wrong with this hotel
A historic Parador. The usual good service at a Parador and a good location. In general Paradors need to update the room facilities a little. In our experience the beds are often hard. However, updating has to be balanced with the history of most Paradors.
The hotel is located in a wonderful renovated castle. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel room was were nicely decorated in a medievall style. Food at the restaurant waqs execellent. No swimming pool
Ambience, history, and reception staff was excellent. It would be useful if they could send a cab to station for those arriving during siesta!!!!!
