Pros: Absolutely incredible stay. Christian and his wife, and team, have executed on the most delightful vision of a luxury, private and homely country hotel. The property is stunningly designed and furnished, with numerous quality touches in every space. The restaurant - both for breakfast and the exquisite multi-course dinners - are fantastic. The variation, quality and service would make some Michelin star venues we have visited blush. The terraces, gardens and poolside are relaxing, well-kept and enjoyable places to relax. The location is rural and peaceful, with good access to nearby lakes, hiking trails and picturesque medieval towns and villages. Cannot recommend the hotel highly enough - luxury and homeliness in an exquisite setting. We will make a return visit for certain, and whether for a relaxing longer stay, a long weekend gastronomic break or simply a wonderfully executed vision of rural luxury would hugely recommend the hotel.
Cons: Nothing - this seems to be a hidden gem of booking.com, and exceeded our expectations.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: It’s an amazing place to stay with excellent food and just a perfect atmosphere.
Cons: It can get hot at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Perfect. Room was quiet, nice and very clean. The building is amazing (living rooms, restaurant, library, TV and cinema room...), the renovation was done with exquisite focus. The details and decoration around (bought during the owners travels around the world) are the sort of things you would like to have in your own home if you could. The property is big (24 hectares) and quiet, with different styles (valleys, olive trees grounds, wild country...) and no houses or other people around. Location is apparently isolated when you are there in, but very close (5 minutes driving) to the main village (Valderrobres, in the list of the most beautiful villages in Spain) and in the heart of the Matarraña countryside. Beautiful swimming pool in the middle of the countryside. Each and every member of the staff are profesional, efficient and very nice, they look like happy of working there and seeing you. Breakfast can be taken in the kitchen and is very good in quality and variety. Food is delicious, after discovering it we had dinner there 2 out of 3 nights, and the restaurant is very nice (inside or in the terrace).
Cons: Nothing really.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location with superb views and extreme friendly staff and entertaining owners. Quiet, clean, great food and very special to have breakfast in the kitchen! All high quality and standards.
Cons: Nothing! It was perfect.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolute pictruresque beauty, fantastic place, perfectly peaceful, at one with nature. Food wonderful, freshly prepared using all local ingredients with as much as possible from the fruit and veg grown on the property. Delicious homemade jams, croissants, breads etc for breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and the perfect cup of coffee. Dinner was a set menu but we were asked on check in if it suited everyone, we said that my son would not eat the Grilled pear with pancetta and blue cheese sauce starter, he was immediately asked what he would eat and an delicious alternative was prepared for him. The owner could not be more obliging. We will return, if you like tranquility with beautiful surroundings and delicious food, you can not go wrong.

Pros: Super clean, great breakfast, very friendly people
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We drove from Bilbao to Valderrobres through some of the most beautiful scenery and changing landscape of northern Spain. Beginning with the mountainous region of the Basque country through the vineyards of La Rioja we were blessed with incredible nature, easy toll roads and glorious skies. We chose this hotel because of its size: 6 rooms, interior decor, and location. We had no idea that it would be such a memorable part of our month long stay in Spain, La Casa de Sebastian has left an emotional imprint on our hearts, forever, with its understated grandeur, friendly staff and stunning location. Not a big place, we drove past it once but were able to navigate to the front door after leaving a message in basic Spanish, to have the daughter of the proprietor call us back with her basic English to guide us to the front door. We unloaded our bags into the reception area expecting to find them there after we’d parked the car in their private car park, only to find they had been taken to our room. The service here was beyond exceptional, from the moment we arrived we were completely taken care of, it was like we were going into the home of a dear family friend whose sole goal was to make sure we wanted for nothing. Breakfast was a beautiful continental spread located in the basement arch, with only six tables we were treated like royalty. The proprietor presented us with extra cakes she had baked which we asked if we could take with us on the next part of our trip. Very, very, highly recommended: a family run hotel whose attention to detail, cleanliness, service are above exceptional. We will definitely go back to stay for longer, due to our tight itinerary, we were able to visit the castle and walk some of the winding streets of Valderrobres but not enjoy the local atmosphere for as long as we would have liked to.
Cons: Honestly, I could search and probably find some tiny thing to nitpick but there is nothing. We were blown away here. The second of five accommodations we were visiting on our month long stay in Spain, La Casa de Sebastian left us with goosebumps because our stay was magical. The only thing we didin't like was that we couldn't stay longer due to our itinerary.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Javier, the manager, made us feel very well looked after. He is a local and had lots of tips and advice, it was a bit like having your own tourist guide. The room was spacious and had plenty of space, including lots of hanging space in the wardrobe. The bed was comfortable and there was also a handy soft armchair to sit on. Well appointed bathroom with a proper bath, which was very welcome after staying for a week in other hotels only with shower. After a day walking is nice to soak up in a bath! The hotel is right in the centre of a charming village, Valdejunquera, which was much nicer than we expected. There was parking nearby, which was very convenient and unusual compared to other nearby villages. We ate at the hotel in the evening, there is no proper menu so you get offered what is available that night. Delicious freshly cooked dishes, although pricier than we expected.
Cons: We would have preferred to have small bedside lamps. There were only overhead downlighters, so if one of you wants to sleep and the other read, it can be tricky. We struggled to get reliable wifi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's always the people. The landlord goes beyond his way to make your stay the best possible. The hotel is lovely, well located an was just perfect for a quiet getaway. The hiking in the area we loved, restaurants too!
Cons: We loved it, no complaints. Strongly recommend Portal del Matarraña!

Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel in an old townhouse, just beside the church. Modern room, elevator. Very nice and helpful owner, we got the breakfast earlier because we had to leave early. Free parking.
Cons: No possibility to have dinner in the hotel or in the village. We went by car to the recommended restaurant (very good) in the village La Fresneda nearby. If we had known this, we probably had booked a hotel in La Fresneda.
