10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - the location, the atmosphere of the manor house, the comfort of the room, the food, especially the dinner cooked by Aurèlie (incl. family recipes) but also the copious breakfast, the hosts
Cons: Nothing- it was a “sans faute”
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming manoir surrounded by beautiful countryside. The owners are amazingly warm and welcoming and made us immediately feel at home in this impressive chateau. The rooms were incredible with original pieces dating back from across its 400 year history. Both the breakfast and breakfast room the next morning were an absolut delight! Would highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From our first greeting by Lauren and Aurelia to our farewell. It was a lovely experience and we echo all the good reviews of previous guests. Fantastic array for breakfast and extremely tasty dinners. We had the standard room and they have small window so we would go for a more superior room next time to get the best view of the countryside
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

They genuinely love what they are doing and that feels and means a lot. It is just a magical place. Merci. Ps we will be back for sure hopefully soon

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful place to stay! A beautiful Manor House, with absolutely wonderful hosts. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was beautiful and clean and the bed very comfortable. We booked a meal for the evening and it was lovely. The next day, before we left, we were shown around the property and Laurent explained a bit of the history of the place - really appreciated the personal attention.
Cons: Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was stunning and owner very happy to share the property’s history with us. The family running this Manor were extremely friendly and eager to please - no request was too much trouble. The food was amazing and worth every penny. We enjoyed the real sense of French living during our stay and would most definitely return should we ever visit the area again. Many thanks
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Large room, perfect for a family of 3-4 persons. Availability of pool table and giant chess which made our evenings nice. Swimming pool and seating area. Nice smaller seating areas around the castle. Seating with a view. Quietness in the area and room. Tips of the owners how to maximize a visit to Put du Fou.
Cons: Nothing specific. But keep in mind that the bed in our room was a four-poster bed. Which means that me (1m83) could just fit. So if you are 1m90.... It might be too small.
6.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful location.Fantastic meal and good table service.
Cons: Did not find the hotel staff very welcoming or prepared to help with confusions.
7.7 Good
Pros: Oweners are extremly helpful and supporting, room design is great and there are a lot of facilities we have been there with 3 kids who did not want to leave ...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The quiet remoteness of it all was so different from a coastal hotel. The owner was charming and helpful. A truely international prescence.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Manoir de Ponsay is a nice place-to-stay for one day or more. Actually it was only a stop-over in our case, but exactly the very quiet and restfull stop we were looking for. The owners are nice and sincerely friendly with their guests.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful family owned manor house. We had the family room in the tower which was lovely reflecting the era of the manor with a modern en suite with a great shower. The owners are lovely and speak very good english. Great traditional breakfast.

Pros: Dominic was so welcoming and charming she makes you feel so relaxed and at home. The room was so large and clean the bathroom as well, in fact you could have played football in there. Food was excellent so much to chose from at breakfast all fresh produce with home made bread The evening meal again was using fresh local produce more than value for money, in fact we gave extra euros when it was time to pay. One personal thing it would have been good to have back ground music playing in the dining room. Have recommended to family and friends, would stay again when in the area
Cons: Having to leave

Pros: We were weary when we arrived after a long drive and were greeted with home made cake and coffee,we had an evening meal and the only fault 'there was too much's realy lovely three course meal in a beautiful French farmhouse. We sat outside with a glass of wine on a glorious evening.

L'Aubinoise - Sainte-Hermine
4
9.2 Excellent (65 reviews)
6.3 Good
Cons: Impossibe not to eventually hit your head on the crossbeam across the middle of room. Also, there was a centipede in bed.
7.5 Good
Pros: The owners were pleasant & friendly. A kettle, fridge, hairdryer, TV & microwave were all provided. Very clean. Comfy beds. Warm & cosy.
Cons: Low ceilings crossed by large beams were an issue for both myself at 5ft 5in & my husband (6ft 2in).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely bread and home made jams for breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The pool and garden were just what we needed after driving all day and arriving in a thunder storm which cleared quickly. The upstairs accom was great.
Cons: It was raining heavily when we arrived and the number 3 on the fence is very faded. The picture on booking.com is different from what you see from the road and no where does it say L'Aubinoise. There is a gite notice on the fence but we weren't "looking for "a gite" as that's not in the booking.com wording. But they did come and find us at a local shop.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an old house, probably 400 years old, large house, with large and rooms, situated on a large domain. It used to be owned by farmers in the recent history but then was bought by a family that turned it into a hotel. They did a good job. It is comfortable but still preserves an air of the past glory. Breakfast is nice and the owners are very friendly. There is room to park in the yard for the people sleeping in the hotel. We saw a lot of mobile homes as well, on the domain, it seems like a very popular destination for that, people come and stay for weeks to get away from the city We didn't do that. We stopped for just one night, on route to Puy du Fou. The owner says 90% of the people who book a room there are going to the amusement park the next day.
Cons: There is no sign on the building or on the wall surrounding the yard so we did not know if we even came to the right place. That caused 5 minutes worth of confusion and some driving in circles but it turned out OK.

Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
7.5 Good
Pros: The host Sabrina was lovely and very accommodating. The location was terrific and staying in country France was amazing.
Cons: I really do not like to be negative but the booking the owner had was different to the one I made. Yhe biggest negative was that the room does not have any ventilation. It was so stuffy and didn't really cater for more than 2 people and we booked for 5.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location, a beautiful village, perfect for our quick stop-over and the breakfast! though was no English breakfast tea but we had her own, so no biggie!
Cons: I would have preferred cotton sheets rather than the mattress protector ones, which i didnt really like.

7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely owners. Beautiful chateau
Cons: Not very clean. Bathroom was clean, linen was clean but lots of cobwebs and dust. Cat on breakfast table was not good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was like visiting your rather grand but impoverished cousin, faded grandeur,. We loved it, but we like crazy! Vincent was a charming host and treated us to apperitifs in the salon. Followed by a four course dinner with wine, all very reasonable for the price. Although a wee dusty it was clean and the breakfast very nice. The rooms spacious and the beds comfy, what more could you ask for.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent

Chambres d'Hôtes l'Esterlanges - Chantonnay - Bedroom
8
8.9 Excellent (35 reviews)
5.5 Okay
Pros: Lovely chatty lady who is really knowledgeable on Pay Du Fou.
Cons: I was really shocked that the swimming pool was over the road and not at the property. We did venture over and had a swim but having to cross over the busy road with kids is a bit much. I'd have been more upset if my children had been small as it's such a busy road. Not a child friendly environment as too busy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice garden to sit in. Very helpful owner.
Cons: The air conditioning is a unit that requires the window to be open for the hose to get outside, which makes it very noisy as the unit is noisy and the property is on a very busy main road. The pool belongs to her brother's property which is across a busy main road (as you can see in the photo I have uploaded), whereas the description made it sound like a 50 yard stroll, not ideal for children.

With its 60 ultra-comfortable bedrooms, pool and restaurant, this welcoming hotel is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy everything the Vende has to offer.
7.5 Good
Pros: From the distance approaching the hotel looks fantastic, once there you realise it is a bit of a 1960's style block. Front of hotel looks quite good - strange how they got planning permission for such a lovely location. And it is a lovely location That aside, the hotel was friendly, food was pretty good, value for money and we enjoyed our stay. The important question on all of these reviews is 'would you stay here again'? The answer to that is very much yes.
Cons: Being 'picky' perhaps the general decor is rather tired - an abundance of 'Artex' everywhere including walls ready to scratch the unsuspecting. But, weigh up everything else. It was OK
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christophe is very kind, nice breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is a friendly and personable guy. Good level of the English language for those struggling with French. His love of animals was the primary reason for booking, we took our dog. The most surprising aspect was the food that was served. All the meals, including the breakfast jam, were homemade during each day with ingredients he'd grown himself or sourced from local suppliers. They were gourmet level. Completely unexpected at his prices. Room was spotless and he'd even included items such as personal hygiene products. Highly recommend the Relais if you have a budget but hope for top shelf meals. 10/10 for Christophe and the Relais des Songes. Alan
Cons: Wish we could have stayed longer ! One of his two dogs, a Lab puppy called OB1 was adorable. So- there's nothing to mention on dislikes.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Bed comfortable and room quite clean. Good location for travelling to Bordeaux via Nantes.
Cons: Room was tired and basic as was the shower room. Requires renovating. The dinner was adequate but no choice of courses. Cristophe, the proprietor, was helpful but appeared to be the only member of staff in the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the ambiance, the friendliness of the proprietor, the food and wine.
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Very nice host, comfortable bed nice traditional homemade French breakfast...
Cons: Basic room, (hardly superior) little to no facilities in or out of the room! No 24hr reception! Shame...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Host was exceptionally accommodating, very friendly and speaks good English. Courtyard was relaxing to sit in (and keep our motorbikes safe). Room was sufficiently comfortable if a little cosy. Home made breakfast, including bread, brioche, yoghurts and jams were very nice, with local honey etc. It's a family home, so be prepared to play with the cat and dogs
Cons: Aside a busy road, so might want to consider this if you want a peaceful stopover, however, and I must stress this, it didn't impact our enjoyment. Property has a pleasent courtyard and garden to escape in.
6.3 Good
Pros: Not a lot very average
Cons: Very bad smell when we arrived ,going upstairs to room smell got worse, room was very cold as heating not on disappointed with the room, very basic no television in room & one plug for charging I pad &two phones, very small shower no heating,we feel it wasn’t suitable for letting in winter, breakfast was okay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place: Peaceful, pretty and easy to find. Christopher is a great host and a fabulous chef. The hotel is friendly, comfortable and spacious. Not posh but it offered everything we need. It was quirky and unique and the courtyard and massive walked gardens make it ideal for children and pets. We were made very welcome and enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot. We will return there as soon as we can. Thanks Christopher for a lovely safe break away for it all. Highly recommended and dinner was one cooked and amazing!
Cons: We loved everything!

5.8 Okay
Cons: Owner is not welcoming at all, not helpful, not flexible, not polite, she should not work in the tourism industry nor in any job involving clients. Checkin is at 5pm, check out is at 11am with NO flexibility whatsoever (we had to attend a wedding anc couldnt shower after a 5h car drive). Even though the place is close to Puy du Fou and orher touristy areas, do not stay there. The rooms are clean and as per the photos but there is no common area in the “hotel” between 11am and 5pm.
