Pros: Location being quite and on route The ease of settling in the unique room and style parking was just right All very comfortable and easy going just right for a relaxing stop off
Cons: The weather could have been better, in other words nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were charming, the place is tastefully decorated, the room was quiet and the breakfast was superb. What more can one say!?
Cons: Not that I didn’t Ike this, but we drove straight past the small front driveway. The signage is small on a driveway between two hedges, but the hosts explained to us the rules of the commune would not let them do any more. We stopped 200 mtrs up the road at a bar and the minute I walked through the door to ask directions, before I opened my mouth, the proprietor said in French, “ You are looking for the B&B? And then he walked me to the front door with my husband following in the car, explaining it is easier to show people then to tell them where the entrance was. Made me smile.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully restored building so tastefully decorated, with interesting pieces of furniture - lots of character and a very charming garden. Our gorgeous hostess was very friendly and helpful and even booked us a dinner table in the nearby village, which was amazingly quaint. The breakfast was wonderful, great selection of fresh pastries, cold meats and cheeses, eggs and freshly squeezed juice and coffee. Lovely place to stay.
Cons: There was nothing that we didn't like, but perhaps a fan in the room would have been nice to have in that heatwave.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Beautiful listed gentleman’s residence in expansive parkland. Wonderfully decorated rooms, comfortable bed and huge bathroom. We ate with other guests and enjoyed a first class meal, cooked by Julian, the proprietor. Ditto breakfast. We were caught out on the Sunday evening and Julian prepared a truly delicious meal for us. Lovely region, tranquillity assured, fabulous host.
Cons: I cannot imagine anyone not being 100% happy.
7.9 Good
Pros: We were welcomed by Julien and his dog Kajou and shown to our very pretty room, Iris. Julien prepared a good dinner for us and two other guests. Breakfast was excellent with warm fresh bread, pastries, fresh fruit, meat and cheese and home made jams.
Cons: My only criticism would be the cost of wine with supper - 7 euros a glass seemed excessive on top of the 32 euros for the meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything: We had a suite with a sitting room and a separate bedroom. It is a historic place, travelling back in time, but it is also elegant and very comfortable, with good WIFI to keep you in the present time. Julien is a great host, very welcoming and helpful. He is also a good chef, we liked the dishes he prepared for dinner, and he served excellent wine. Nice garden, quiet place to relax and enjoy the very spacious rooms.

Pros: Very comfortable room, with lovely firm bed. Modern bathroom with large walk-in shower. Excellent breakfast with local jams and honey.
Cons: The place was hard to find - the satnav and Google Maps both tried to take us down a forest track that was closed. When we eventually reached the house, we found we needed a code to open the gates, so we had to phone to find out how to get in. It would have been helpful to have been given the gate code in advance.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed this very well restored chateau not far from Dijon. Our room was in one of the outhouses and was large and very comfortable in a modern classical way, with an excellently equipped bathroom. The restaurant served good, imaginative food at sensible prices. Service overall was excellent, although perhaps reception could be better manned at busy check-in times. Definitely will return as this hotel stands out in a region where price and quality of accommodation often disappoint.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Although rather expensive, we enjoyed a very special, relaxing weekend. The room was lovely and the castle interior provided a romantic, elegant setting. The food was beautifully prepared and (one small point aside - see below) very professionally served. We had to pay extra for the spa and sauna but it was well worth it.
Cons: We had a problem on the first morning getting breakfast. We had to wait for a long time and it seemed to be due to a lack of staff. However, the senior staff did take note of this and apologised. Furthermore, they made our evening dining experience quite special, which more than made up for the earlier problem.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very good Dinner and Breakfast, along with a beautiful room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Chateau was completely updated. Hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated and the park is vast. It is very near the vineyards of Burgundy. Staff are very welcoming.
Cons: For such a beautiful hotel it is unfortunate there is no air conditioning - we visited at a time when there was a heat wave. The duvet pillow could be complemented with soft support pillows.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The château is in a beautiful setting. Perfect for a relaxing break.
Cons: The WiFi was a bit slow and switched off intermittently.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very nice chateau - nice rooms & great outdoors + pool. Come here for calm & a wonderfull surroundings
Cons: The cold way of handeling people: The young receptionist did his best but you saw the influence of the unfriendly older (owner?) man. Already before arrival we had some misunderstandings where my opinion was that he couldn’t care less regarding our questions. The room was wrongly advertised on booking Upon arrival a huge deposit for a room that already has been paied for ... unacceptable. A baby of two almost had to pay for breakfast (???) The restaurant only open on thursday till sunday noon (was shown before) but a bit sad for a 4star location. I would come back for the chateau. But please get your standards up regarding communication & manners with your guests!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location for a stopover, 1 minute from the motorway and despite that very quiet. Restaurant few meters away (we did not use it). Rooms modern, good beds. Staff on reception very helpful when we asked for a yoghourt in the evening and hot water in the morning for our small baby daugther. We would use this hotel again for a stopover
Cons: Could not open windows. Our room was with a bathroom for disabled people. Although this is important to have for a hotel and the people that need it, it is not attractive if your are not in need of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect everything you needed clean rooms, very welcoming staff, good breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. Location is close to the high way and easy to reach. The hotel is simple but comfortable . It is what we need when we travel. I liked that the hotel is very clear. Almost all walls in the lobby are made of glass, but you cannot see nor hear the highway. A good, clean, one-night-stop hotel.
Cons: The music channel on TV. We would rather see news or sport or tourism.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were polite and friendly. The cleanliness was good and the location is good for quick access to the motorway.
Cons: We weren't too keen on the square pillows, only a minor gripe... The shower head seemed to be inflexible in that you couldn't turn it down towards you.

Pros: Comfortable beds, good breakfast, easy to get to the hotel by car from the motorway.

Chateau De Rigny - Gray - Building
13
8.7 Excellent (330 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This charming hotel is located in Gray. Those who dislike animals may enjoy their stay, as this property does not allow pets.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location on the banks of the Saone with extensive grounds - a grand old house beautifully presented. Attentive and friendly host. Restaurant in the classic French tradition with excellent food. Breakfast ample in a relaxed and informal setting.
Cons: The Restaurant being very traditional was a little too formal for weary travellers! Wine prices too high - but this is true of restaurants all over France!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely grand old building in super grounds with nice pool area looking out over the gardens. We were offered a choice of rooms and opted for a big room on the top floor of an annex building. Very comfy firm bed and separate loo and bathroom. Family run and staff all friendly. Good food in the restaurant and buffet breakfast choice ok. Excellent value for an overnight stop on route back to UK from Swiss alps.
Cons: The decor is some areas ( eg pink bathroom suite) is a little dated but it adds to the charm!

Pros: The beautiful and peaceful surroundings
Cons: Nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful settings in a very quiet location. Excellent restaurant and good parking facilities. Have recommended this chateau to friends who want a relaxing time in a rural location.
Cons: Cannot think of anything
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beautiful gardens
Cons: Property needs work, blankets were dirty and old. Restaurant food was not fresh and too heavy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff on Reception were really helpful , the amenities in the room were good. Super Wi-fi .The food in the restaurant and the restaurant itself exceeded our expectations. The swimming pool is in a lovely setting as is the hotel with acres of grounds . Downside is finding it but the satnav did a wonderful job
Cons: Would have liked a room in the annexe facing the grounds , the other side can be noisy late at night when people from the restaurant return to their rooms or cars . The room smelt musty on arrival
5.4 Okay
Pros: Beautiful castle and garden with a lot of potential!!!
Cons: Everything with this hotel is old and oldfashioned and breathes 1970’s or 1980’s. Rooms have probably not been renovated since then, textiles such bedspreads and armchairs have stains and are worn out. The dinner menu does also seem like something still being the same since 40-50 years back.Even the staff seems oldfashioned though some of them are quite young... Everyone seem to do their best but they seem to not have noticed it is 2019 now and that makes you sad as a guest as the potential is enormous in this beautiful building and the surroundings.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: all good , fabulous characterful property
Cons: The pool lights remained on most of the night making the room light the timer needs to be changed
5.4 Okay
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: I was walking the Via Francigena from Scotland to Rome. This day saw 29km to Gy. When I reached there I was told I could not use the bar, nor the restaurant. They were closed that night to residents not in the wedding party. The only other restaurant in Gy was also closed. The receptionist said “If you want to eat tonight you have to walk to the Intermarché supermarket 1 km”. I saw in the owner in the kitchen and complained. He followed me into the street to remonstrate with me. No communication about the restaurant closure. No attempt to provide even a cold salad for residents. A supposedly 3 star hotel and I have to eat a supermarket sandwich as that is all I can get. Definitely my lowest point on the Via Francigena
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very accommodating staff considering our last-minute booking. Comfortable, interesting hotel. We timed it well and arrived during the music festival, which took over the village.
