the evening meal at the restaurant
Very pretty location. Not very welcoming.
Very nice room and fantastic food. Extremelly quiet at night. Very nice gardens and swimming pool.
A fantastic hotel, beautifully decorated rooms, excellent service, stunning surroundings and food to die for...albeit abit pricey.
Food is exceptional and ambience is terrific. The location is ideal for a 'getaway'. This family run business is very welcoming. You pay for the quality. This is not a criticism but guests should be aware.
Beautiful hotel lovely location restaurant excellent expensive but worth the extra
After reading about the hotel in Australia we decided to spend a night there ane have a degustation dinner. Ttel was very clean excellent service and room that was beautiful and well maintained. We had the menu the "Belcastel" menu and asked the somnellier to select our wine. The meal was by far the best selection of foods and tastes we have experienced in France. The wine compted the food perfectly. All i all the experience at the hotel was superb.
Location of the hotel is perfect.
The room was clean and comfortable.
The location of the hotel was excellent, and was the main reason we booked. however, having stayed in several other Best western hotels around France during the same holiday I do think that it was slightly overpriced, despite its location. Having said that, the room was excellent and staff very amenable.
Lovely hotel, fantastic room and great value for money
Situated in the heart of the old town. Wonderful view from our bedroom. Comfortable and spotless. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Excellent food served. The hordes of day-trippers that come to Rocamadour during the daytime (they cleared out after 6pm thankfully).
The staff were friendly and the room was full of character. The bathroom was very modern and had a separate shower. The bed was comfortable and the room was so quiet despite overlooking the main street in the old town. At about 8.45 am we were the only signs of life in the old village - no other people and no animals on the street. This was a great way to see the place before the crowds arrived. Rides to the top level as soon as they opened (9 am) let us explore there before the coaches started to arrive. Parking was not a problem even though the area was quite small and reception saw to any re-positioning of vehicles as needed.
Very helpful staff and an excellent location. Clean & tidy room. If I was being picky, the grouting around the bath/shower was mouldy and discoloured which doesn't look good and is easy enough to sort out. Parking is possible but you have to squeeze in three deep and the keys are left with reception so cars can be moved if necessary. If you aren't happy about that, they can be parked down the road or in the garage, if there is room.
Location, friendly staff and excellent restaurant Access to hotel and car parking could have been better explained preferably on the booking confirmation. Air conditioning poor.
I loved the traditional architecture of the hotel and its idyllic location. The bathroom ! This really needed updating-bigstyle!
Clean, bright, rooms; hotel public rooms beautifully decorated with original paintings and art work; garden for relaxing after a hard day of touring; good parking but within walking distance of Racamadour. sights. Quiet, park-like setting; friendly English speaking owner; We did not use the pool (too early in the season) but I would expect the same level of quality in htat area also. A wonderful hotel at excellent rates. nothing
Laid back, comfortable, homely, clean, quiet, spotlessly clean No
it was new, clean with excellent location for travel
Very clean and new. Pet friendly. Excellent hosts. Limited telephone switchboard. Since there are no direct lines to the rooms, late night or early morning calls may not be supported by an operator.
Really stylish, light, airy, clean. Not keen on the 'wet room' bathroom as the shower made the whole floor wet.
It's modern, clean, and comfortable. It has an outstanding location and a helpful staff. It's right near one of the most gorgeous towns in France, but it's away from the traffic and parking troubles.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and very clean. The location was great as it was not in the centre of the area, therefore making it more peaceful. The price of the room was fantastic and would definetly recommend to friends! Overall we had a very pleasant stay.
The nicest of the hotels used in our forty five day tour of France. Spotlessly clean, well laid out room in an easy to find and quiet location. It was a short walk to the trails and steps leading into Rocamadour. The hostess was friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English.
All it was very nice would consider staying again and proprietress helped us find other local sites which were all amazing A fan in room would make it perfect
I know I have answered excellent to all the questions but I would be doing your hotel an injustice if I did not. This is a fantastic place to stay and we will be back again for longer I hope.
Lovely location and the restaurant was good quality. Rural views were superb and suited to any season. Out of town and very quiet.
The Hotel was in a beautiful location, overlooking a park. Marie-Josee and Thierry Menot were excellent hosts and looked after us very well
Beautiful tranquil setting yet within easy walking distance from Rocamadour. Lots of nice walks start nearby. Friendly welcome. Surprised it had no restaurant as I'd somehow got the impression from the website that there was one. However the restaurant they recommended, set in woodland only 5 min walk away, was extremely good. Would have appreciated a small fridge in the room.
The surroundings are beautiful and very close to the sites at Rocamadour. The breakfast was very good. The room was cramped and dark and the shower was so tiny. The pool wasn't open in the evening for a dip which was a let down after a long and hot day of sightseeing.
An excellent hotel set in the countryside but within walking distance of a large town and tourist attractions. A true three star (***) hotel, whereas many other french so-called three stars are really two stars or less.
This was a fantastic hotel, but because it is located near farm animals be sure to bring a fly swatter.
Location was outstanding, evening meal exceptional. Rooms could do with aditional soundproofing
It was comfortable and lovely old building with good facilities. It was far from the medieval city of Rocamandour -you needed to drive there as well as from the 'newer town" not 5 minutes walk as they said.
Great location to view Rocamadour! No air conditioning and no fan. Room was small in size.
very good location with lovely views from most rooms. Breakfast very good with giant croissants.
Great location, helpful staff, great food
This modern, clean hotel is amazingly well sited for anyone visiting Rocamadour. The view from the bar/terrace is unique across the valley to Rocamadour itself. It is however only in walking distance of the town if you are fit and it's not too hot. L'Hospitalet itself is a pleasant little tourist village with several shops and restaurants to choose from. Parking is easy. The restaurant is rather expensive and the food unremarkable. Some of the rooms advertised as having a "valley view" have only limited view (in our case mostly consisting of the restaurant roof) with certainly not the famous valley view that you get from elsewhere around the hotel and would expect from the description.
The location is excellent for visiting Rocamadour. There was no price benefit in going through hotels.com. Same price as on-site. Quality of hotel and poor staff interest did not merit the room rate.
Clean covered pool. Good choice at breakfast. Good views over the valley. Easy access to Rocamadour. Restaurant a bit expensive. Fairly isolated at night time. 20 min walk to nearest restaurant outside the hotel.
Nice friendly service, great view on the castle. Excellent breakfast with great chice.
Quiet location away from tourist areas but with easy access to Rocamadour via ascenseur or pleasant path
Ideal location for visiting Rocamadour , with lifts down to the levels just around the corner from the hotel. Rooms are a nice size and were spotless. Staff are friendly and very helpfull ,plenty of parking space too.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - Great restaurant across the road called Le Chateau, also live piano music and terrasse.
Very cheap, decent room and very good location Most of the time there was no staff at the reception
Great location.Good value for money. front doors not locked at night.
Great location, clean & friendly with decent sized rooms
location and comfort, good size room.
Kind reception, excellent location for a trip to Rocamadour
Warm, informative welcome. Good room with big balcony. Well situated and easy to find. Good continental breakfast, including cereals. No lift.
The cost of the room was reasonable and the location was close enough to the tourist site of Rocamadour. The sink in the bathroom did not have a plug. On requesting one from reception we were told that none of the sinks had plugs. This made it very difficult to use, particularly when trying to rinse contact lenses. It also resulted in a shocking waste of water.
Friendly staff, good position, clean and tidy, economical and easy to find. Could not get WiFi in room.
Th accommodation was clean and attractive and very good value for money. The shower (most important) was excellent Nothing
Rooms were basic but comfortable. Plenty of parking available to rear of hotel.
Convenient, clean and with a helpful staff.
Charming hotel runs by lovly owner, and having breakfast is recommended.
We thought that this hotel and the town of soulliac in general were beautiful, we will be going back again. thought the market was fantastic as well. no
We were made very welcome by the owners and were most impressed with the decor and quality of the fixtures and fittings. It really was one of the loveliest hotels we have stayed in all around the world (and that includes 5* hotels in Asia). I loved everything but perhaps if there is one thing I think it would be that children should only have to pay half price for the breakfast.
Excellent location, friendly staff, rooms exactly as shown on web site.
The location was excellent and the hotel was well appointed and charming. The staff were very helpful and looked after us faultlessly. We would recommend the hotel to our friends.
Beautiful, characterful old building in heart of charming town. Friendly, no-fuss welcome from helpful owner. Excellent stopover en route to south of France.
The location was excellent. Not in the tourist area but very near the town and private.
We enjoyed all of our stay at Hotel Restaurant Les Viellies Tours. The location was excellent as was the setting of the hotel. The food was fantastic.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. Perfect location for a visit to Rocamadour. We would love to come back.
Very quiet environment, cosy rooms of 3 star quality. Very nice surroundings and view from the room. The restaurant is definitely of a higher level, we have had an excellent gastronomic dinner! Only 20 minutes walk to Rocamadour via a hiking trail. none
Magnificent location, layout of the rooms offered peace and privacy. The staff were extrememly in helping to sort out "what to see". None
Manager/owner very friendly, went out of way to help. Stunning views good evening meal Cost more than we expected.
The lady at the front desk was very helpful and the breakfast was pretty good, location was great. It would be handy to be given the code and an explanation for entering the locked part of town where the hotel is situated. Only WiFi in the lobby. No lift or help to take the luggage up two flights of stairs.
Setting of the hotel. Very scenic.
beautiful sceanery, cuisine
Relaxing and close to amazing sites at Rocamadour (SW France). Friendly staff and good food. Enjoyed our drink on the terrace after a swim in the pool.
Location was great and the staff was very accommodating,. The rooms were smaller than expected
Our room with a balcony overlooking the gorge was spectacular.
The location in Rocamadore is great, and Genevieve, the owner, is an extremely helpful host. The toilet was in a miserably small room.
The staff were welcoming and friendly, also accomodating as we were travelling with a dog. The room was very clean. The room wasn't as the photograph suggested although did have a great view. The food i would class as wholesome but not great.
excellent welcome & very clean and tidy room food quantity/quality very basic dinner & waiter had b/o problem....& a very nosiey group in the restaurant who were not kept in check by the staff and upset the rest of the customers. I should have listerned to the other reviews i def wouldnt say it was a bad experience eating there just below parr for the rest of the hotel.
Very quiet from the road Very noisy with neighbours people, a lot of noise early in the sunday morning (about 6.15 am)
Staff very friendly and helpfull parking nearby restaurant opposit hotel and very good quality and value super service. Rooms a little small as is showerroom but to be expected in this location
The location is in the old city, however there was nothing to do in the old city as everything was closed. We found better views from hotels that overlooked the city, just outside Rocamadour, and with more restaurants, etc, that would have been a better location if we had known about it. Terrible room, extremely dirty with an old broken toilet seat and mold growing in the shower and floor tiles. The room was so small there was less than a foot of space around the bed. The sink was dripping all night. When we told the manager about the sink, she rudely informed us that we would have to pay more to change rooms and there was nothing she could do about it otherwise. It was a big stretch to call this a 2 star hotel.Maybe ok for budget backpackers, but it was the smallest dirtiest room I have ever stayed in.
Cosy and nice view from the window. Rocamadour is just one street, so hotel cant be far from "center". There is absolutely no parking in or around Rocamadour. Only far down in the valley. But then you have to be a Scwartznegger to carry your suitcases up to the hotel.
The hotel was perfectly located in the medieval city. It was a good value, and the restaurant (across the street from the hotel) was pretty and served very tasty regional specialties. Our rooms were in the front of the building over a busy street (pedestrian). There was no a/c - so open windows meant hearing a lot of noise.
excellent location/ambience within old town center; great starting point for sightseeing; room a bit "dated" but generally comfortable; bed mattress not so comfortable though;
location, pet friendly, excellent food, friendly staff, comfortable accommodation. no
Lovely location, close to local attractions whilst in the middle of the countryside, nice pool and bar terrace. Kids could roam free.
The food was very good The staff were friendly.
Friendly and helpful staff, swimming pool was lovely and good restuarant and service. Room was adequate, quite dated. We chose this because of the view from the terrace restuarant but this was closed up when we stayed so dispapointing that we missed the main feature of the hotel.
Very spacious room! No air-cooler (but ability to keep windows open helped!)
The design The owner the history No
This place was beautiful and very quiet. They don't have a kitchen, but they serve breakfast. The surroundings are also very nice. For people who prefer nice and quiet rooms, away from noisy cities, I recommend this highly.
This was a delightful quiet place tucked away off the back road a few miles from Rocamadour. The swimming pool was very welcome - somehere to relax in the sun after a long drive. The room as expected was fairly basic (no TV) but large, comfortable and clean. If you're staying in summer think about bringing some binoculars - we were treated to the most incredible starry night. There's little or no light pollution here and the Milky Way and shooting stars are all there to see. The hotel is pretty basic. Apart from the pool there are no facilities to speak of and you do have to drive into Rocamadour for dinner.
This is a wonderful place for relaxation and "getting away from it all". It is also within a short drive of Rocamadour. The Hosts are very pleasant people for whom nothing is a problem. Staying here was one of the highlights of our holiday in France, and has left us with some wonderful memories.
The owners were both friendly and very helpful. Beautiful place, full of charm and ambiance.
Everything is fine: the service, the lounge, the room, the pool. Warm and elegant at the same time; quiet and beautiful surroundings.
The hotel is situated on an excellent location. The staff is helpful and friendly, the rooms are comfortable and clean.
We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and welcoming. They were happy to answer any questions we had about the area and stop and talk to us about our day.The room was very clean and tidy. The hotel was in a good position in Souillac town close to all amenities and exploring the Dordogne. Our room had air conditioning which was essential during the heat we experienced.
Central location. Friendly, helpful staff. Room on small size but adequate.
The hotel reception staff couldn't have been more helpfull The hotel room we were allocated was very old and had damp patches in the corner of the rooms there was only one small window and all of the walls and ceiling were covered in a green flowerey wallpaper making it very dark and dingy, the bathroom was clean but with a green suite, blue tiles and a red and yelow/ blue floor - we were on the 3rd floor.
We were made very welcome and enjoyed out stay. Could do with some redocoration, to freshen up the decor.
Excellent place for exploring Dordogne in the heart of Souillac. Nice people, quiet place. Facilities are old fashion and not comfortable.
Friendly reception. English spoken well. Close parking Room was a little tired looking
Rooms basic but clean and tidy. Has a swimming pool which is great. Charming lady owner. Have used twice now and will do so again next year.
We can thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for somewhere to use as a base to explore the region. The hotelier Fabienne speaks excellent English, and you can be sure of having a very friendly welcome and comfortable stay.
Quiet. The lock...
Incredible service from the owner,Fabienne when we had serious rental car problems. She took over and handled everything for us. Her little hotel was lovely, but she is the star. We have never had better service anywhere we have travelled. Her hotel is near Sarlet - which is as beautiful and historic as France can be.
I liked the location of this Hotel, the garages to park our motorcycles in and the swimming pool to cool down in. It is easy to find and the reception we received was perfect. Fabienne could not do enough for us, breakfast was very good by French standards, and it is an easy walk into the town for an evening. I will definitely stay here again as there is more I wish to see in this area.
Very friendly hostess, beautiful old house, private parking, and big nice bernese mountain dog Yubar.
Friendliness and hospitality of the owner, private pool.
Very helpful and friendly owner offered whatever help we needed. Good pool. Close to town for restaurant, Comfortable accommodation. Excellent croissants.Local info available in reception. Traffic noise from adjacent roundabout. Breakfast just lacked cheeses/meats..
very good restaurant and beautiful location
We were made extremely welcome at reception by the owner who spoke excellent English. We had booked a superior double room but were upgraded to a suite which occupied the top two floors of the tower (the hotel is a castle overlooking the Dordogne river) and was absolutely amazing. There was a lovely vine covered terrace for afternoon drinks and aperatifs. The restaurant was excellent with a wide choice of set menus very reasonably priced. The meal was excellent - beautifully cooked and presented. We will definately stay again and would recommend the hotel.
This stay was a delightful experience with staff that are very cheerful and hard working. The restaurant service was amazing with cuisine deserving of every recognition. Francoise is an accomplished proprietor . Try to improve the quality of wifi stability.
very comfortable, fantastic location, relaxing, superb food nothing, the owner's put all their time to making the guest's stay special and unforgettable
the staff were very friendly and helpful. food was excellent. located on the river, very nice village setting.
The food both at dinner and breakfast.the friendly staff. the hotel location
I loved the hotel. A real castle and outstanding views. Good location near Rocamadour and Gouffre de Piradac. Canoes to rent for a river that runs right past the hotel. Beautiful! Restored with all the character. The Hostess was rude to us. If you dont speak French well you may find dinner difficult... delicious but difficult.
The restaurant,location,space in the room
Lovely room (number 17), restaurant and views. Very interesting building and village. Lots of charm and character. Very convenient for Rocamadour. Mme Liebus went to a lot of trouble to return some items we left in the room - typical of the personal and professional service she provided throughout. The road out front can be a bit noisy at times, but worth putting up with for the river views.
A very relaxing place to stay en route and eat well at good vlaue price Beautiful river but too mnay campsites!
A wonderful welcome from a charming Dutch lady who seemed to run the hotel almost by herself! Opposite railway station which is, however, about 2 miles from Rocamadour.
Excellent value, clean, friendly relaxed warm welcome. It was for us an ideal venue travelling through France on return from holiday home in Spain. Would recommend without hesitation for a short stay . Nothing to dislike - !
