The clerk didn't speak any English only French but we managed through gestures, the same when checking out. We've lived overseas for 5-6 years and can figure it out even if the staff doesn't speak our language.
It is a small, but a pleasant and very clean hotel. It has also a restaurant, which we haven't tried. We loved the location too; La Cavalerie is a very small Middle Age village on an arid plateau quite fascinating.I would recommend it. The buffet breakfast is ok, but quite basic.
It was useful to be so close to the motorway and the Millau Bridge. We had a meal in the restaurant which cost 83 euros, my steak was inedible and chewy and there was a hair in my sauce. I complained but was still made to pay for a meal I did not eat, disgusting, yuk!!!
Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant first rate and attentive service. A superb location if you want to visit the Millau viaduct information centre. Beautiful restoration of this old templar town.
we chose the hotel because it was convenient for an overnite stop and we were delighted with our choice. We were made welcome and the patron was helpful in arranging a table in the excellent restaurant even though it was very busy. The service was attentive and the meal was lovely, the whole experience was beyond our expectations for a budget hotel. Recommended. Nothing I can remember.
It was excellent !!
The location was ideal for exploring the region The hotel seems to be lacking in maintenance. The decor and grounds seem to be in need of attention, The dining room was crowded and the price was too high for the quality. One night we dined twice as well for half the price in a nearby Logis de France. Breakfast was the type of self-service you would find in a cheaper hotel.
slightly faded elegance, unique environment unlike most faceless "corporate" chains; warmth of staff; beautiful location
Beautiful Hotel Our room was very tired and dated
The situation by the pretty town of Meyeuris, perfect for the Gorges du Tarn, very wild countryside. Beautifully warm and cosy in the chateau, dining rooms perfect, candelbras roaring log fires[end Nov], fantastic food and wine. Bedroom and en suite adequate, could do with a little updating.
The staff was very helpful. The maitre D in the dining room was particularly helpful. The food was excellent. It was a lovely place to stay. The road to the hotel from Millau was long and in poor condition. It was not a good place to stay if you wanted to take side trips outside the gorges.
We like very much to stay in this hotel it was perfect.
Lovely guy on the desk, very helpful. Really central location on the main road though it never gets very noisy. The nets in the window are so thin they are practically see through. The shower was a sit down one in the bath but no real hardship.
bedroom was clean seemed very tired and lack lustre bath was un believeably small and difficult to get out of .. for some would have been unusable every thing seemed to be about cutting corners .. finacially .. curtains were thin nets .. which let the light through in the sunny morning .. how ever bed was big and comfortable ..
Very large and comfortable room, to which we were taken by the English- speaking receptionist. Very clean. Superb views of the valley. Shower was over the bath but, with no screen or curtain, was impossible to use without soaking the floor! Dinner menu was clearly designed by a chef trying to be too clever! My main course was a piece of salmon, a few very thin slices of salsify, two small wedges of beetroot, and half a tomato, for which the charge was a disgusting 22€! My wife had two tiny pieces of cod, each on a blini, a tiny piece of roasted lemon, and one or two vegetables, for the same ridiculous price! Breakfast, at 13€, consisted of a small bottle of juice between two people, a small bowl of fruit salad with a separate container of yoghurt, two choices of cereal, one choice of cheese, plus bread, croissants and coffee. Certainly would not stay there again.
The location of the hotel on the river, and the fact that all the rooms have a view of the river. The hotel is stylish and comfortable. The food is rather pretentious and bland, stylishly presented, but with virtually no choice and the same food on both nights. We didn't like it, and it represented very poor value.
The location; the atmosphere; the facilities and the staff all excellent. Also a special mention to the menu, four star value in a three star hotel. Our stay was too short !!!
the best meal we have ever had!, location on the spectacular gorges du tarn road, we were upgraded to a suite which was very spacious, friendly helpful staff (in English)
liked the location and ambience -staff pleasant and the decor very unusual and attractive One glaring omission was the lack of coffee/tea making facilities in the bedroom-normal in most hotels of this standard.
The location is very peaceful and the Tarn Gorges are beautiful. The restaurant is excellent and the only criticism is that the portions are too large and the service too swift - we needed time between courses
Room very large and comfortable for the price of Euros 85. Food in restaurant excellent quality and price when ordering from the menu. Staff very helpful and friendly. Setting even better than that!
All the staff were very helpful. The location is superb and the facilities are excellent. We will stay there again.
helpful staff - nothing was too much of a problem. great and imaginative food. great location for discovering the Tarn Gorge and the Millau viaduct. a shower screen or curtain would have kept the shower water off the bathroom floor. tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be an improvement. perhaps a hot food option at breakfast.
The setting, accomodation and the food
The room was huge. The pool was fabulous. The hotel is on a busy street in a busy little town deep in a valley. Fitting in a little swimming pool (nicely heated) is a fabulously clever thing to do! The place has lots of character, and is in several different buildings- I think being converted from two (or even three?) smaller hotels. It was a bit chaotic. We stayed two nights, and the room wasn't cleaned (beds made etc.) after the first. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss- I don't think they had as many staff as they perhaps needed for such a busy period.
The location was brilliant, right in the middle of a very buzzing town full of life and places to eat. Hotel food was excellent. Would recommend this hotel, but more for the location than the hotel itself. Hotel rooms were a bit tired and the service was not very good, particularly at dinner in the evening. Shame we had to ask for the swimming pool to be opened.
Great location of the hotel for canoeing/kayaking and tourist actractions. Great size family room. Clean swimming pool. Good selection of restaurants and small shops.
The restaurant is excellent - good food very reasonably priced and owners very friendly and willing to try to please. Nice swim pool too. The mattresses/beds in the two rooms that we experienced were terrible! So "cheap and nasty" , thin and so soft, without any support, that sleep is impossible. Better on the floor! I think it would be better to spend the money on a good standard/quality of bed rather than the tv.
Really lovely staff, large room and a beautiful little village.
Two star hotel - excellent value for the money. Staff very accommodating.Food very good. Secured parking about one long block away. Small town, not much to do, but the scenery in the "tarns" is spectacular. We had the fastest and best WI FI of our entire trip. The weather turned very cool and the heat had not been turned on yet! Not the hotel's fault!
The staff was very friendly, the location of the hotel is nice and the pool was excellent, also for the kids.
Our one room opened on the terrace with the swimming pool which was great! There was a door between our 2 rooms and the hotel staff opened that for us on request so we had easy access to the terrace. Room price is very good value for money. 6 Euro per person for the breakfast consisting of a glass of juice, a cup of coffee and 2 pieces of bread is way to much!
Very nice staff, the owner (Teresa) was Portuguese and very helpful, the rooms and bathrooms were very large. No curtain shower and crooked floor (it's an old building).
the staff the shower was very hot/very cold.,, why do hoteliers insist on out of date mixer shower taps,, a thermostat mixer would save litrs of water, and the customer would enjoy the shower more..
location and the city the room was very damped and felt very cold and it said that their was internet, but we couldn't find any. and the man in the reception was not very friendly and couldn't speak english
The room was very nice. arrive late no one at reception just a busser and a walky talky to get asscistance but note was in French (understandably) but as we were not able to reed French found it a slite problem understanding how to get anyone.
The food, location, and friendly helpful staff.
Central location in village, very attractive outside dining area, super standard of meals at reasonable prices. There were rarely enough staff around to answer queries. The breakfast was French but very limited compared to other hotels.
Staff very friendly and helpfull.
