nice location,great breakfast
Position of the hotel was excellent for mountain walking. The staff were very friendly and tried to be very helpful. The building had an interesting history and spectacular views There was no air conditioning or fans in the bedroom and it was unbearably hot at night. Most staff did not speak english but there was an english speaking lady receptionist and a barman who were very helpful.
The location is beautiful and remote. The buildings are large, although the architectural style can be described as confused, it is imposing. The restaurant food was freezer to table via micro wave. Tasteless and expensive.
The Hotel is located in a beautiful area of Sierra de Gredos and accessible to superb mountain walks. They have good facilities for children- a games room, tennis court and provided an excellent base for walking. Staff were very pleasant and the presence of a cafeteria was useful. Easy internet access in the main areas. The tennis courts and gardens seemed a little run down. The access to the courts took you round to the back of the hotel which was not attractive.
An ideal location for simply getting away from it all with stunning views of the mountains.
The room was very homely and so comfortable. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and very tasty. The local area is also very beautiful with great views over the nearby mountains. There is a bit of lack of atmosphere at the hotel. The hotel bar felt like a school canteen rather than a nice relaxing area to have a drink in.
Service was good and the restaurant was nice, with a wide selection of local dishes. Expected more charm from a Parador. The atmosphere was very cold and institutional, and the building looked and felt like a mid-20th c. luxury resort rather than a historic site. Expected something more like the restored 400-yr old haciendas and fincas we had stayed in elsewhere in Spain.
The daily menu for 16,20 € including wine was excellent value for money. The Wi-Fi worked very well. Although we were the only guests and had booked a superior double room, we were first given a standard twin room. After asking for a double bed, we got the superior room. Everything else was ok.
the restaurant is very expensive. we counted on that after reading reviews at this site and couldn't change. the price for the food is not justified.
Excellent hotel! Located conveniently near the best hiking and birding paths of Sierra de Gredos in a very small and quiet village. The owner couple shows the very reason why I recommend family-run hotels: such a warm and sincere atmosphere and customer service you won't ever get from bigger hotels. It felt like we were guests at their home. The husband even speaks English (rare in Spain). Nothing. Easily beats - in every aspact - the four-star hotel we went next.
We stayed for two nights where we were made extremly welcome by our two host. This is a rual location so we had dinner both evenings, the food was good and value for money. Lack of finesse when serving breakfast, eg had to ask for bowls and milk for cereal and second cup of coffee not offered.
Beautifully decorated. Nice hosts. Need signs to indicate exact lovation in Buenadventura.
